• How can I call from my PC through my cisco ip phone?

  Hi gurus, I am trying to call a telephone number fro my PC through my ip phone once my application completes its work. So I am searching for a way to access my ip phone from my PC. Please correct me if I am wrong or missing the obvious. On my PC in office selecting a phone in Microsoft office communicator and making calls from PC through my Cisco IP Phone is disabled. Is there any way i can programmatically call a external phone or mobile number from my PC as my ip phone is connected to my PC. I tried out etQuickDial and Make/Drop calls. But I am not able to find the appropriate way or setup to make calls. I also googled for any libraries and i saw some TAPI but was not able to get correct way. Please help me out with this. My cisco ip phone is 7940. My environment is Windows XP. Please let me know if you need more details. No problems with me even if you propose a solution involving coding or a non coding way of downloading and installing any applications. Thanks in advance. If you dont want me to post it here and If I need to put it in super user or server fault or some where else please direct me appropriately. • when long polling, Why are my other requests taking so long?

  The client makes 2 concurrent requests. (1 which takes 60 seconds - long polling) and another which is NOT long polling - supposed to return right away. It does return right away when I'm not doing long polling. But as soon as I start doing long polling with the other thread, the other one takes forever to execute. Firebug shows that the request is waiting for 10-50 seconds. On the server, I profiled ALL requests from the moment the php script starts to the time it goes back to the client, and it shows that each one only took 300ms or less. This problem started about the same time I started doing long polling (with the other XHR requests). I'm using jquery for both requests. The server shows that it is under very light load. CPU and memory less then 2%. 8 processes running out of a pool of 15. (it doesn't seem to deviate much from that number 8, even when I run more ajax requests). I guess each process can run multiple ajax threads concurrently. I made sure to EXIT from all processes as soon as their done executing. I don't see how the process pool has run out, if there are still 7 unused processes listed under prstat -J. Also, the problem happens somewhat intermittently. Firefox should be able to handle 2 concurrent ajax requests. i dont get what the problem is.

• DataGridView in VB.net will not allow me to update

  I have a datagridview with a dataTable as the dataSource. The user can add new rows to the datadridview, but I dont display the primary key column (for obvious reasons) and set it to .visible = false. When I need to update the information in the datagridview to the database, I use the sqlClient.SqlCommandBuilder to then update the underlying datasource (the dataTable mentioned above). Now, because the hidden column is the primary key, I loop through the datagridview and programically add the required primary key field to each new row that does not already contain a primary key (user added rows). This works great 95% of the time... The problem is when the user somehow gives focus at some point (any point) to that bottom row on the datagridview, below their added rows, that is used to add new rows. The update command gives me an error stating that it cannot insert null into the primary key field, even though when checking all the values in every row, it is definitely NOT null for any of them. I have tried to trap for row.isNewRow (as the field never shows null) and deleting that row, but I get an error stating I can not delete an uncommitted row. If the focus is never given to that empty row beneath the existing rows and user added rows, the update works fine. What is going on?!

• How to print PDF on default network printer using GhostScript (gswin32c.exe) shell command

  I'd like to print PDF file(s) on windows' network printer via GhostScript. (I dont want to use Adobe Reader) I've read gswin32c.exe which can do the job. I experimented with many commands and coudn't find the way how to force gs to print PDF on my (windows default) network drive. I don't need point exact network printer- default can be used. But if there is no such option I'm happy to pass printer name as well. (I've tried with param -SDevice="\server_IP\printer_name" but this didnt work as well...) • C++ Swig Python (Embedded Python in C++) works in Release but not in Debug

  Platform: Windows 7, 64 bit (x64), Visual Studio 2008 I chose Python & Swig binding as the scripting environment of the application. As a prototype, created a simple VS solution with main() which initializes Python (Py_Initalize, Py_setPyHome, etc) & executes test.py. In the same solution created another project which is a DLL of a simple class. Used SWIG to wrap this class. This DLL is the _MyClasses.pyd. test.py creates the objects of my class & calls its member functions. All this works like a charm in the Release mode. But does not work in Debug mode (even tried banging my head on the laptop ;-) ). Output of my work looks like this (in both release & debug): x64 -debug - _MyClasses.pyd - MyClasses.py - test.exe - test.py - python26.dll - python26_d.dll Note that the debug version is linked against python26_d.lib. Had to build python myself for this! test.py import MyClasses print "ello" m = MyClasses.Male("John Doe", 25) print m.getType() Male is the C++ class. • Alternative native api for Process.Start

  Ok this is not duplicate of "http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2065592/alternative-to-process-start" because my question is something different here. I need to run a process and wait till execution of process and get the output of console. There is way to set RedirectStandardOutput and RedirectStandardError to true, however this does not function well on some machines, (where .NET SDK is not installed), only .NET runtime is installed, now it works on some machines and doesnt work on some machines so we dont know where is the problem. I have following code, ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo("myapp.exe", cmd); info.CreateNoWindow = true; info.UseShellExecute = false; info.RedirectStandardError = true; info.RedirectStandardOutput = true; Process p = Process.Start(info); p.WaitForExit(); Trace.WriteLine(p.StandardOutput.ReadToEnd()); Trace.WriteLine(p.StandardError.ReadToEnd()); On some machines, this will hang forever on p.WaitForExit(), and one some machine it works correctly, the behaviour is so random and there is no clue. Now if I can get a real good workaround for this using pinvoke, I will be very happy.

• SQL CE: Limiting rows returned in the query

  In SQL Compact Edition 3.5 , note that it is the Compact Edition I am talking about- Is there a way to limit the amount of rows to only 2? Something like using LIMIT or TOP. I really don't want to use anything with a SqlCEDataReader, or SqlCEResultSet. I want to do all the limiting in the query. Is this possible now? I have looked around and it doesn't seem so. EDIT- In response to Dave Swersky's request for data and using Min()/Max() on some columns as a means to get the top 2 lines, here is some sample (sterilized) data: Line Site Function Status 1010 Las Vegas new 4 1020 DC send 1 1030 Portland copy 1 1040 SF copy 1 1050 Portland copy 1 1060 DC send 1 *There are more columns than this but these are the significant ones. Sorry for the lack of intuitive data (but the actual data is even less intuitive!), but for security i need to change the data. So- i need to determine: what site the record was at in the preceding line to determine where it needs to be picked up. The site on any given line (except the first line with function = 'new') corresponds to where the item is going next. So simply grabbing that site off the same line wont tell me where it came from. The status will always be 1 or 4. The 4 corresponds to a where it has been delivered already and so i dont want to include those records in the result. But it might be useful in getting the pickup site. For this table of data i want the query to return the site corresponding to the line just above the first line with status 1. So- for this it would be Las Vegas.

  hello everybody i'm some newbie in this matter of .net i'm trying understand this new paradigm i began with linq for SQl but i found this library, kind of framework of T4 more specifically: subsonic T4 i think it could be very usefull but the support docs outside are very scarce my first intention is use them in the very simple form: a catalog lets say... Users so... how can i use the model generated with subsonic ( using the iactiverecord) to implement the record-navigational part.,...???!!! i mean i want a simple form to create, delete or modify records and that is fairy easy but what about to move among records ? i found how to get the first, the last record.. but how can i advance or go back among them??? how can i order the records..? it seems everytime imust query the table.. its so? but how can imove among the records i already got? all of the exmples found are very simple dont touch the matter and/ or are repetitive everywhere so.. please if anybody can help me or give more references... i'd thank you a lot gmo camilo

• NAudio playback wont stop successfully

  Hi When using NAudio to playback an mp3 [in the console], I cant figure out how to stop the playback. When I call waveout.Stop() the code just stops running and waveout.Dispose() never gets called. Is it something to do with the function callback? • Using httplib2 in python 3 properly? (Timeout problems)

  Hey, first time post, I'm really stuck on httplib2. I've been reading up on it from diveintopython3.org, but it mentions nothing about a timeout function. I look up the documentation, but the only thing I see is an ability to put a timeout int but there are no units specified (seconds? milliseconds? What's the default if None?) This is what I have (I also have code to check what the response is and try again, but it's never tried more than once) h = httplib2.Http('.cache', timeout=None) for url in list: response, content = h.request(url) more stuff... So the Http object stays around until some arbitrary time, but I'm downloading a ton of pages from the same server, and after a while, it hangs on getting a page. No errors are thrown, the thing just hangs at a page. So then I try: h = httplib2.Http('.cache', timeout=None) for url in list: try: response, content = h.request(url) except: h = httplib2.Http('.cache', timeout=None) more stuff... But then it recreates another Http object every time (goes down the 'except' path)...I dont understand how to keep getting with the same object, until it expires and I make another. Also, is there a way to set a timeout on an individual request? Thanks for the help!

Use tools to find new keywords related with your content. Do you have some internet links, or knowledge about all the tasks that a SEO Expert should do? Could you share some knowledge about what kind of business could be do with another companies (B2B) to increase the search engine position of those product pages.   Using Commons beanUtils I would like to know how to ask any converter say the Dateconverter to ignore null values and use null as default. This looks a very primitive scenario to me which should be handled by default (as in, I would expect x2 to have null value for date1). The doco tells me that I can ask the converter to do this. Can someone point me as to the best way for doing this ? I dont want to get hold of the Converter and isUseDefault() to be true because then I have to do it for all Date, Enum and many other converters !

• Which Database to choose?

  I have the following criteria Database should be protected with a username and password. It should not be possible to copy the database file and use it else were like MS Access. There will be no central database server. Each machine will run their own database server locally and user will initiate synchronization. Concept is inspired from distributed version control system like Git. So it should have good replication support. Strong consistency is not needed. Users will synchronize each other database when they need. In case of conflicts it should be possible to find the conflict and present it (from application) to the user for fixing it. Revisions of data if available it will be good. e.g. Entire history of change to a invoice. I explored document oriented database and inclined towards the same. But I dont know what to choose. Database is small it will not reach even 1GB in the next few years (say 3 years). Please feel free to suggest any database which you think might be suitable. Any pointers is highly appreciated. • IIS6 configuration for WCF/Silverlight

  I am trying the simple senario of running a WCF service to return Active directory information on a user. (http://rouslan.com/2009/03/20-steps-to-get-together-windows-authentication-silverlight-and-wcf-service/) using Silverlight 4 & .net 4 However, I am being driven insane by trying to set this up in IIS. Currently I have my solution working in VS, but when I try to run the service in ISS a debug window tries to open... (and I can't get rid of it, is is complaining about the WCF call). <basicHttpBinding> <binding name="winAuthBasicHttpBinding"> <security mode="TransportCredentialOnly"> <transport clientCredentialType="Ntlm"/> </security> </binding> </basicHttpBinding> The Insanity: I have got the IIS to successfully call a WCF service (but can't reproduce), I have created 5 projects to try and get this working, but in my 5th I can't even browse the site (says it can't download silverlight application, but mime type are setup). My next step is to install Server2008 on a test machine and try IIS7... as all the various walkthrough's I have found just dont seem to work in IIS6.

• VMWare steals IP addresses [closed]

  I'm having a peculiar problem, that I think I have narrowed down to VMware. For the past one year, every once in a while we lose internet connection and not all users (about 10 users) go down at the same time, its usually one-by-one. First someone will call me and say "Internet is down" and then we would go reset the router and modem and switch and it would be working again for a while, then go down again without any pattern or replicatable sequence. We'd go repeat the steps again to get everyone in the office running again. We called our Internet Service Provider and they constantly say, We see your modem and we see your router and from thier end everything is OK. we replaced our router and switch and modem, twice! Last friday, it dawned upon me, that everytime we turn on a VMware machine, this sequence of taking everyone down starts, which also explains the message that my users get for "IP Conflict Found" So we do alot of VMware testing and lo and behold, it takes my Internet down. My Yahoo and Gtalk would continue working but www is down when the VMware machines are started. I do use bridged networking to all the VMware machines, but I dont know what else to set it at. now, sorry for this long rambling but anyone have any clue on how to stop this? thanks IA

• passing hashes to a subroutine

  In one of my main( or primary) routines,I have two or more hashes. I want the subroutine foo() to recieve these possibly-multiple hashes as distinct hashes. Right now I have no preference if they go by value, or as references. I am struggling with this for the last many hours and would appreciate help, so that I dont have to leave perl for php! • Database migration pattern for Java?

  Im working on some database migration code in Java. Im also using a factory pattern so I can use different kinds of databases. And each kind of database im using implements a common interface. What I would like to do is have a migration check that is internal to the class and runs some database schema update code automatically. The actual update is pretty straight forward (I check schema version in a table and compare against a constant in my app to decide whether to migrate or not and between which versions of schema). To make this automatic I was thinking the test should live inside (or be called from) the constructor. OK, fair enough, that's simple enough. My problem is that I dont want the test to run every single time I instantiate a database object (it runs a query so having it run on every construction is not efficient). So maybe this should be a class static method? I guess my question is, what is a good design pattern for this type of problem? There ought to be a clean way to ensure the migration test runs only once OR is super-efficient.

• semi dynamic cdn

  i'm developing couple of websites using php (directory script, etc.) and wordpress as cms. i need to improve its performance, by using cdn for static files (css, js, images). the problem is, css and javascript files are generated on the fly. i did that due to yahoo and some expert advice to combine the files into one file. also changing basic color of css files. for the time being, i use couple of small vps but still its not fast enough. i already contact maxcdn and the support guy said that they dont have such kind of services. what i need is: a cdn that will serve the request from user/visitor and there's no file in local disk, the cdn will redirect/fetch it from another domain/server. in vps, it could be done easily using combination of .htaccess and php, but NOT in the cdn. most of cdn only support purely static files. is there any such cdn that will server semi-dynamic files?

• CQRS - The query side

  A lot of the blogsphere articles related to CQRS (command query repsonsibility) seperation seem to imply that all screens/viewmodels are flat. e.g. Name, Age, Location Of Birth etc.. and thus the suggestion that implementation wise we stick them into fast read source etc.. single table per view mySQL etc.. and pull them out with something like primitive SqlDataReader, kick that nasty nhibernate ORM etc.. However, whilst I agree that domain models dont mapped well to most screens, many of the screens that I work with are more dimensional, and Im sure this is pretty common in LOB apps. So my question is how are people handling screen where by for example it displays a summary of customer details and then a list of their orders with a [more detail] link etc.... I thought about keeping with the straight forward SQL query to the Query Database breaking off the outer join so can build a suitable ViewModel to View but it seems like overkill? Alternatively (this is starting to feel yuck) in CustomerSummaryView table have a text/big (whatever the type is in your DB) column called Orders, and the columns for the Order summary screen grid are seperated by , and rows by |. Even with XML datatype it still feeel dirty. Any thoughts on an optimal practice?
