  • What is the correct HTTP status code to send when a site is down for maintenance?

    Is there a HTTP status code to tell Google (and others) to go away, index me again later? Basically, one that semantically tells clients that the site is down for maintenance? The ones I have considered are 304 => Not modified 307 => Temporary redirect 410 => Gone 503 => Service Unavailable I'm leaning towards the last one, but was just curious as to which one was proper choice.   • How can I configure a Hudson job to use a specific JDK?

    I have a number of projects running on a Hudson slave. I'd like one of them to run Ant under Java6, rather than the default (which is Java5 in my environment). In the project configuration view, I was hoping to find either: An explicit option allowing me to set a custom JDK location to use for this project. A way to set custom environment variables for this project, which would allow me to set JAVA_HOME to the JDK6 location. The would make Ant pick up and run on Java6 as desired. Is there a way to do either of the above? If one of those facilities is available, I can't see how to access it. I'm running on Hudson 1.285. I would rather avoid using an "execute shell" operation instead of the "invoke Ant" operation if possible: my slave is on z/OS and Hudson doesn't seem to create the temporary shell scripts properly on this platform (probably an encoding issue).

    Hi, I need to make a stored procedure or function that returns a set of rows. I've noted that in a stored procedure i can SELECT * FROM table with success. If i fetch rows in a loop and SELECT something, something_other FROM table once per loop execution, I only get one single result. What I need to do is looping, doing some calculations and returning a rowset. What's the best way to do this? A temporary table? Stored functions? Any help appreciated.

I have 3 tables : Product (with product's price) Invoice (with invoice id) Products on invoice (with invoice id, product id and number of particular products) So in my query I take invoice_id (from invoice), price (from product),number of products sold and invoice_id (from products on invoice) and calculate their product in fourth column.     I have a complex XSD schema and hundreds of XML files conforming to the schema. How do I automate the creation of related SQL Server tables to store the XML data? I've considered creating C# classes from the XSD schema using the xsd.exe tool and letting something like Subsonic figure out how to make a shiny database out of it, but not sure if it's the best way to approach it. Has anyone managed to elegantly import XSD files into SQL Server?

    Hey all, I'm practicing Jquery and I've written this simple Jquery statement: var someText = $("table tr td").text(); Should this not return all text of td elements found within tr's that are found within tables? How do I fix this? Currently when I run this, it says that table tr td is null, but I have a table on the page I'm testing on. Thanks!

So I have benchmarked this query with a join: SELECT BENCHMARK(100000000, 'SELECT book.title, author.name FROM `book` , `author` WHERE book.id = author.book_id ') And this is the result: Query took 0.7438 sec ONLY 0.7438 seconds for 100 millions of query with a join ??? Do I make some mistakes or this is the right result ?

    In Python, I have 3 lists of floating-point numbers (angles), in the range 0-360, and the lists are not the same length. I need to find the triplet (with 1 number from each list) in which the numbers are the closest. (It's highly unlikely that any of the numbers will be identical, since this is real-world data.) I was thinking of using a simple lowest-standard-deviation method to measure agreement, but I'm not sure of a good way to implement this. I could loop through each list, comparing the standard deviation of every possible combination using nested for loops, and have a temporary variable save the indices of the triplet that agrees the best, but I was wondering if anyone had a better or more elegant way to do something like this.     Hello, I've got some python code in a library that attempts to load a simple value from a module that will exist for the applications that use this library from somemodule import simplevalue Normally, the application that uses the library will have the module file and everything works fine. However, in the unit tests for this library the module does not exist. I know that I can create a temporary file and add that file to my path at runtime, but I was curious if there is a way in python to load something in to memory that would allow the above import to work. This is more of a curiosity, saying "add the module to your test path" is not helpful :P

    Using SQL ManagementStudio 2008 I created SQL 3.5 Compact DB (TestCompact.sdf) and I have created subscription to existing Publication. Using SQL Management Studio it is working. I have transfered TestCompact.sdf to Windows Mobile 5 emulator device and with QueryAnalyzer for Mobile I could query existing tables in TestCompact.sdf. I don't know how to start replication synchronization on that mobile device. Do I need to write some C# code or it is possible do it more simple?
