  • iPhone SDK: Check validity of URLs with NSURL not working??

    hi, I'm trying to check if a given URL is valid and i'm doing it like this: - (BOOL)urlIsValid:(NSString *)address { NSURL *testURL = [NSURL URLWithString:address]; if (testURL == nil) { return NO; } else { return YES; } } Since "URLWithString" is supposed to return "nil" if the URL is malformed I thought this would work but it doesn't for some reason. Could someone please tell me why? Thanks in advance!

    I have a text file made of 3 lines: Line 1 Line 3 (Line 1, a blank line, and Line 3) vector<string> text; vector<string>::iterator it; ifstream file("test.txt"); string str; while (getline(file, str)) { if (str.length() == 0) str = "\n"; // since getline discards the newline character, replacing blank strings with newline text.push_back(str); } // while for (it=text.begin(); it < text.end(); it++) cout << (*it); Prints out: Line 1 Line 3 I'm not sure why the string with only a newline was not printed out.   • Why isn't my javascript working on a local HTML file using UIWebView loadRequest:?

    Hi Everyone, I have a script that generates a temporary HTML file that has links to external Javascript files that it requires to run. <script src="file:///Users/raphaeldefranco/Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/User/Applications/BA9E724E-76BD-4F28-B224-54B4C73786D6/LogTen.app/Reports/Time by Year/../../Tools/PlotKit/Base.js" type="text/javascript"></script> The links are absolute and they are to the right place (There is a CSS link as well that uses the same method and it works fine). I've been using the following, which finds images and CSS just fine but for some reason won't run the .js. [webView loadRequest:requestObj]; I've tried changing the encoding of the files. I had a problem getting the CSS to work until the file was in unicode, but so far no luck. All the Script files are bundled with my project etc. Thanks in advance!

    In LINQ to SQL, I want to avoid setting some columns if others haven't changed? Say I have dim row = (From c in dataContext.Customers Where c.Id = 1234 Select c).Single() row.Name = "Example" ' line 3 dataContext.SubmitChanges() ' line 4 Great, so LINQ to SQL fetches a row, sets the name to "Example" in memory, and generates an update SQL query only when necessary--that is, no SQL will be generated if the customer's name was already "Example". So suppose on line 3, I want to detect if row has changed, and if so, set row.UpdateDate = DateTime.Now. If row has not changed, I don't want to set row.UpdateDate so that no SQL is generated. Is there any good way to do this?

    What I'd like to use: 2009 XAML primitives How it would be nice to use them: <sapv:ExpressionTextBox xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" ExpressionType="x:String" /> What actually happens: "Type reference cannot find the public type named String" The examples I see don't have updated namespaces. I tried 2009 and 2010, but to no avail. This is in VS 2010 RTM. What am I doing wrong?

  • remote_form_for in index.html.erb file not working w/ AJAX...Ruby on Rails...

    Just curious if I am overlooking something simple here. I have deployed the remote_form_for in the show.html.erb code before to render comments on a post (project in this case) without a problem. I have moved this code to the index view and seems to degrade to the normal form_for action (page refresh). I am not getting any javascript errors so not sure what is wrong here.   • Javascript function working strangely during the first call in CHROME ?

    HI all, Below mentioned javascript code works fine in all browsers including chrome(from second call onwards). function call(val){ url = window.location.href; indexnum = url.lastIndexOf("/"); str = url.slice(indexnum+1); window.location.href = url.replace(str, "sample.php?src_q=") + val; } I am calling this function on onclick of a link as below <?php echo "<a href='#' onclick='javascript:call(\"$fieldvalue\");'>$fieldvalue</a>" ?> Normal Behaviour : In all browser after clicking on the link new formed url is url://localhost/mysite/sample.php?src_q=val Strange Behaviour : When I click on the link for the first time in chrome value of variable val gets replaced by url and its value as follows http://localhost/mysite/sample.php?src_q=http://localhost/mysite/val This strange behaviour happens during the first click in chrome. From the second call onwards in the same tab, the value of variable val works fine and I get desired url. I tried to google on it, but couldn't found any explanation. Thanks in advance.

    I've used hierarachyviewer earlier, but on android emulator. It works absolutely fine when I use it on the emulator. However it does not work with Samsung Galaxy TAB 7.0, with Android 2.3.4.     I have the three following lines and the first two line gets all the images on the document and hides all, but then when I add the third line shows all the images. What I need its to hide only the images with the attribute alt=minimize and alt=maximize but for some reason hides all the images. $('img').attr('alt', 'minimize').css("display","none"); $('img').attr('alt', 'maximize').css("display","none"); $('img').attr('alt', 'logo').css("display","inline"); I am using IE7, but it should be compatible with IE6 and IE8.   • How do I open a web browser from C#? Process.Start() isn't working?

    I have a URL and I want to launch it in the default browser. I've tried two methods: Process.Start("http://stackoverflow.com"); ... and the one detailed in this other question using ShellExecute. In both cases I get the error: Windows cannot find 'http://stackoverflow.com'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. It shouldn't be trying to open it as a file though... from what I understand, it should recognize it as a URL and open it in the default browser. What am I missing? By the way: OS = Vista, and .NET = 3.5

  • drag drop no longer working once application gets installed.

    I have an application that has drag and drop functionality to import images and video's. While developing, and testing through Visual Studio this has never given any problems. After installing through a set up project, everything in the application works fine, except the drag and drop, which seems to be doing nothing. Are there any security settings that need to be set through an installer, or something of that nature that could be preventing drag and drop after installation ?

I never see any SIP traffic from GoTalk to my asterisk server trying to connect the call. Seems I'm not registering correctly for incoming calls because GoTalk aren't sending them to me. I am correct in using the GoTalk username 09xxxxxx as the DID, aren't I ? I've tried using my phone number but it makes no difference.

Here's my code: $form->input('MainAttribute.'.$i.'.SubAttribute.'.$j.'.score', array('label' => '', 'options' => $scores)); I created it that way because I want SubAttribute to be inside MainAttribute. When I inspect the HTML, the name attribute of the form is cutted of like: name="data[SuperMainAttribute]" How can I specify the name attribute to the one that I'm planning on doing? (e.g. data[MainAttribute][0][SubAttribute][0][score])

Sometimes dirty problems call for dirty solutions though :) So does anyone know of a css selector hack that works for recent safari versions but is not a general webkit hack ? My site behaves properly in chrome but has a bug in safari. So if anyone knows how i can select an element to only have a certain style in safari let me know!

    In jQuery Mobile, I am trying to adjust the height of an image to the height of the window. The height of the window depends on the orientation of the device, but I found out that whenever I change the orientation, the height of the window that is plugged into the expressions for the height of the image is the height of the window BEFORE the orientation change! So, how do I make it so it picks up the height of the window AFTER the orientation change and then uses this new value to adjust the image height?   • locking on dictionary of structs not working between 2 threads?

    C#, .Net2.0, XP, Zen I have 2 threads accessing a shared dictionary of structures, each thread via an event. At the beginning of the event I lock the dictionary, remove some structures, and exit the lock+event. Yet somehow the 2nd thread|event is finding some of the removed structures. Conceptually I must be doing something wrong for this to be happening? I thought locking was supposed to make it thread safe?
