  • parser error in aspx page(.net 2.0) after converting from website to web application

    I have a website I recently converted from website to web application Project . When I compile It compiles Successfuly but when I run the code I get this error Parser Error Message: Could not load type 'DApplause.Logon'.     Hi, I'm working on deploying a web application written in C# with ASP.Net Application services databases. The application runs fine on the development machine. Windows Server 2003 has been built to test the application. The database has been scripted across using MS SQL Server GUI. ASP.Net application services tables were created using an utility. The connection strings are stored in the web.config and connectionStrings.config. The application connects to the database successfully, but then it times out after 10 seconds.

  • Virtual directory problem for cruise control.net

    Hi All, I have downloaded cruisecontrol.net setup and have installed it in "C:\Program Files\CruiseControl.NET". It contains a folder called "webdashboard" which has aspx page and some other stuff as well. I want to configure this in my IIS so that I can access it , I tried but it doesn't work , every time I get error that page you requested is not found. I created web site, created virtual directory but none is working. I have not put anything in inetpub/wwwroot. Can anyone please guide me how can I configure this to work.

  • Create slide-in notifications à la Outlook in Windows with .NET

    I am using .NET and am creating a desktop app/service that will display notifications in the corner of my Desktop when certain events are triggered. I don't want to use a regular Message Box b/c that would be too intrusive. The notifications would slide into view and then fade out after a few seconds. I am thinking of something that will act very much like the Outlook alerts that one gets when a new message arrives. The question is: Should I use WPF for this? I've never done anything with WPF but will happily try it if that's best means to the end. Is there a way to accomplish this with regular .NET libraries?

    HI all, I am working with asp.net with c#.net Here i am using session state to pass the value from one page to another. i have two pages, in first page i am calculating the value and passing the value to second page using session and in second page i am displaying the message through the value. I am using these two pages for facebook application. I uploaded my two pages then i am checking with facebook by opening through internet explorer and its giving below error. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.   • asp.net Background Threads Exception Handling

    In my 3.5 .net web application I have a background thread that does a lot of work (the application is similar to mint.com in that it does a lot of account aggregation on background threads). I do extensive exception handling within the thread performing the aggregation but there's always the chance an unhandled exception will be thrown and my entire application will die. I've read some articles about this topic but they all seem fairly outdated and none of them implement a standard approach. Is there a standard approach to this nowadays? Is there any nicer way to handle this in ASP.NET 4.0?

    I am trying to integrate my asp.net 4.0(non MVC) website with facebook. I want to retrive the authenticated user info. The samples listed in facebooksdk is based on MVC. i tried to implement it in my website, but getting errors. i am struck. If anyone implemented the facebook connect logic and retrieved the user information using facebook-c#-sdk, please help me how to do this. I tried the same using facebooktoolkit, and i am able to retrive the user info. but the toolkit is having issues with .net 4.0. Greatly appreciated your help.

  • VMR9Allocator (DirectShow .NET + SlimDX)

    I was trying to convert and run the VMR9Allocator sample for DirectShow .NET with SlimDX instead of MDX. I got an exception when it reach this line return vmrSurfaceAllocatorNotify.SetD3DDevice(unmanagedDevice, hMonitor) In the AdviseNotify method in Allocator.cs. The exception is "No such interface supported", and the hr return was "0x80004002". The sample runs fine with MDX, and my SlimDx is also working, as I've written another 3d apps using it, working fine. I can't seems to find out what went wrong, no help from googling as well. Apparently not much ppl uses this combination, and non that i can find actually stumble into this problem. Any idea guys? NOTE: I've asked the same question over at gamedev.net 2 weeks back, no answer thus far.

    Good Day, I am developing a website that has product images on an external server. I have code that tests to see if the image exists like (pseudo code): DynamicString = FunctionThatCreatesDynamicString() ' DynamicString = "http://external_server/path/to/file1.jpg" If ImageExists(DyanmicString) = StatusCode.200 Then ' Embed link in ASP.NET page Else ' Embed not found image in ASP.NET page End If My code builds fine and appears to execute. The problem occurs when I attempt to view the external link in a browser, the image appears properly (I have to authenticate first, but that's OK considering I'm on an internal network and this app will be used internally). However, when I attempt the view the source in my generated HTML page, I am seeing the image to the "Not Found" image when I know the image is there. I compared all the characters in my dynamically assembled to the external link and all the characters are matching up correctly. I'm wondering if the authentication has anything to do with why the image is not rendering properly on my rendered HTML. Any thoughts? TIA, coson

    i have some html files as part of a regular website that has been ported over to asp.net mvc. In my code i need to read and write these html files and stick them in a tinymce editor To be able to read and write this file from disk in the past i had a hard coded path but this doesn't seem to work in asp.net mvc unless i do something like this: Writing: string _urlDirectory = @"c:\hosting\MySite\Views\Members\newsletters\test.html"; System.IO.File.WriteAllText(_urlDirectory, htmlData_); Reading: string url = @"c:\hosting\MySite\Views\Members\newsletters\test.html"; var req = WebRequest.Create(url); var response = req.GetResponse(); StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()); string htmlData_ = sr.ReadToEnd(); i am moving my site from one data center to another and the directory structure is changing. instead of just changing the hard coded path to another hard coded path i wanted to see if there was a more relative way to reference these files.

  • ASP.NET MVC : Good Replacement for User Control?

    I found user controls to be incredibly useful when working with ASP.NET webforms. By encapsulating the code required for displaying a control with the markup, creation of reusable components was very straightforward and very, very useful. While MVC provides convenient separation of concerns, this seems to break encapsulation (ie, you can add a control without adding or using its supporting code, leading to runtime errors). Having to modify a controller every time I add a control to a view seems to me to integrate concerns, not separate them. I'd rather break the purist MVC ideology than give up the benefits of reusable, packaged controls. I need to be able to include components similar to webforms user controls throughout a site, but not for the entire site, and not at a level that belongs in a master page. These components should have their own code not just markup (to interact with the business layer), and it would be great if the page controller didn't need to know about the control. Since MVC user controls don't have codebehind, I can't see a good way to do this. This is tested with ASP.NET MVC 2, VS 2010 and .NET 4.0. Your custom tag references the ascx partial view, which inherits from the TestControl class. The control then overrides the Render() method, which is called to render the view, giving you complete control over the process from tag to output. Why does everyone try to make this so much harder than it has to be?

    Hi, There seemes to be a consistent problem with the following situation: Say you have a VS2008 solution, consisting of a (say console) application written in vb.net, and a class library written in c#. The application references the class library project. This, of course, complies and works well. However, when you right-click (in the vb.net application code) a function prototype/object type defined in the class library, and select "Go to definition", the object browser opens providing you with the the list of methods available for the class the class library consists of. BAD. However, if you try to do the same when both the application and cl are in c#, this works just fine and you navigate driectly to the relevant function/class.GOOD. Known issue? Solvable?

  • Spawning Process Never Finishes on ASP.NET Page

    The code below spawns the process and sits forever, never finishing. It doesn't matter what process I run. If I use delegates it doesn't work either. It just hangs up in my dev and on the test enviornment. Also, if I use Shell with Wait it does the same thing. If I set wait to false in either approach it works just fine. It's ASP.NET 2.0 VB.NET DotNetNuke 4.0 on Windows Server 2003. I can't even phathom why this would hang up. UPDATE: It causes the CPU to throttle up but it's not running anything. It's like there's something weird going on in the threading.     I have a windows service that do something periodically. on user account runs systray application (written in C#) that communicate with windows service (thru .net remoting) and shows a status and some option to users. Everything works well beside that systray app uses 20-30MB of RAM ! it have to work in terminal environment, when 50 users login, only systray apps take 1GB of RAM ! and i don't have to add, that's wrong :) Is it possible to write .net systray application that will be small ? (1-2MB max?) or should I write it in c/c++? then, what kind of communication should I use between windows service (written in C#) and systray app ?

    I was doing some research into general topics of software engineering and I came across the Java Community Process website: The JCP is the mechanism for developing standard technical specifications for Java technology. Anyone can register for the site and participate in reviewing and providing feedback for the Java Specification Requests (JSRs), and anyone can sign up to become a JCP Member and then participate on the Expert Group of a JSR or even submit their own JSR Proposal. Seems like a good idea to me, and there are lots of very well written specifications and reference implementations on the JCP website. So why is there no .NET Community Process? Is that something that Microsoft could or should start? Maybe they could install it on Codeplex.net and hand over the keys to the community.

How can I get asp.net html controls to show up?
