  • Calling inheriting class methods via interface.

    - by Stacey
Given the scenario... interface IBase{ void Process(int value); } abstract class Base : IBase { public virtual void Process(int value){ throw new NotImplementedException(); } } class Implemented: Base, IBase { public void Process(int value) { // .. some code here.. } } I'm trying to write a loop similar to the following. foreach( Base b in CollectionOfImplemented ) { b.Process( // something will go here // ); } Trying this, it keeps calling Base.Process, instead of Implemented.Process; but the type in the collection is Implemented, not Base. Boxing it seems to work, but I was hoping to see if I could find a more intelligent approach to it, since the Collection will contain other types of objects that also inherit from Base.

  • Problem with adding integers in an array

    - by rshivers
Hello again, I'm trying to loop through my totals in order to get a grand total for my web app. So far the code I am working with is the following: function calcAllFields() { var name = parseFloat($('div [name = total[]]').text()); var totArray = $.makeArray(name); var total = 0; for (var i = 0; i < totArray.length; i++) { total += totArray[i]; } $("#target1").text(total); } Instead of adding integers, something is being read as a string. Say I want to add 200 + 50, instead of 250 I get 20050. Could anyone please point out what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!

  • Adding characters to string

    - by Jamza
I am currently trying to build a very basic serial shell with my arduino. I am able to get an output from the device using Serial.read() and can get the character it has outputted, but I cannot work out how to then add that character to a longer to form the full command. I tried the logical thing but it doesn't work: char Command[]; void loop(){ if(Serial.available() > 0){ int clinput = Serial.read(); Command = Command + char(clinput); } Can anybody help? Thank You.

  • Parsing timestamps - do it in MySQL or in PHP?

    - by Andrew Heath
Let's say you've got a table with a timestamp column, and you want to parse that column into two arrays - $date and $time. Do you, personally: a) query like this DATE(timestamp), TIME(timestamp) , or perhaps even going as far as HOUR(timestamp), MINUTE(timestamp b) grab the timestamp column and parse it out as needed with a loop in PHP I feel like (a) is easier... but I know that I don't know anything. And it feels a little naughty to make my query hit the same column 2 or 3 times for output... Is there a best-practice for this?

  • How to get the set events of a control?

    - by Jack
It's possible via C# code get an list of methods/delegates that was set to Control? let me explain better.. For example. Assuming some definitions like this: foo.Click += (a, b) => { ... } //.. foo.Click += (A,B) => { ... } And a megic method: var baa = foo.GetEvents("Click"); Returns baa[0] points to (a, b) => { ... } baa[1] points to (A,B) => { ... } My scenery: I make and add dynamically event to some controls inside a loop. I want depending to a boolean value a event of control of index one, will removed by using control.Click -= baa[1] or something like this. I hope this is clear for your. Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot attach to a service in VS 2008

    - by rhj4
I have created a service in VS 2008 called EmailReader. I have compiled, installed and started the service. Its timer loop is writing records to a log file, so I can see that it is running. I am trying to attach to it in VS 2008, but the process name is greyed out in the list of available processes, and the name is "EmailReader.vshost.exe" instead of "EmailReader.exe". There is probably a simple answer, but I don't know it. Do you?

  • PHP - ftp_get only works once

    - by William
I'm connecting to an ftp server that I have no control over, and I'm pretty sure is using something old and outdated due to other issues I've run into. I'm simply using this code in a loop to get all the files in a directory. ftp_put($this->conn_id, $remote, $local, FTP_ASCII); The first time all goes well, but after that I get this error thrown for each file I try to get: "There is already an active transaction" I've tried both passive & active with no luck. It's the exact same code I use to connect to other FTP servers and get files with no problem. Any ideas? I suppose my last resort could be disconnecting and reconnecting for each file, but that seems like a huge waste.

  • PHP from database and query

    - by Kyle R
I have a table: id, affiliate Each time somebody clicks a link, a new row is inserted, ID being the ID of the page, and affiliate being the ID of the affiliate. For example: Page ID: 9 Affiliate ID: 1 Page ID: 9 Affiliate ID: 2 Page ID: 9 Affiliate ID: 3 I only have 3 affiliates. I want to select this information, and group them by affiliate, for the ID. I have tried this query: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table WHERE id = '9' GROUP BY affiliate It works fine when I do it in php my admin, how do I get the info in PHP? I have tried: $q = mysql_query("SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table WHERE id = '" . $id . "' GROUP BY affiliate"); $r = mysql_fetch_array($q); When trying to print the data onto the page, I am only getting one result. Do I need to use a foreach/while loop to get all 3? How would I go about doing this? Thank you!

  • c++ - FIFO implementation

    - by Narek
While implementing a FIFO I have used the following structure: struct Node { T info_; Node* link_; Node(T info, Node* link=0): info_(info), link_(link) {} }; I think this a well known trick for lots of STL containers (for example for List). Is this a good practice? What it means for compiler when you say that Node has a member with a type of it's pointer? Is this a kind of infinite loop? And finally, if this is a bad practice, how I could implement a better FIFO.

  • PHP : flatten array - fastest way?

    - by Industrial
    Is there any fast way to flatten an array and select subkeys ('key'&'value' in this case) without running a foreach loop, or is the foreach always the fastest way? Array ( [0] => Array ( [key] => string [value] => a simple string [cas] => 0 ) [1] => Array ( [key] => int [value] => 99 [cas] => 0 ) [2] => Array ( [key] => array [value] => Array ( [0] => 11 [1] => 12 ) [cas] => 0 ) ) To: Array ( [int] => 99 [string] => a simple string [array] => Array ( [0] => 11 [1] => 12 ) )

  • Finding employees specific to department in SQL SERVER 2000(SET BASED)

    - by xyz
Suppose I have a table (tblEmp) whose structure is like as under Dept Emp d1 e1 d1 e2 d1 e3 d2 e4 d2 e5 d3 e6 If I need to bring the output as Dept DepartmentSpecificEmployees d1 e1,e2,e3 d2 e4,e5 d3 e6 I will write the query as select Dept, stuff((select Emp + ',' from tblEmp t2 where t1.Dept = t2.Dept for xml path(''),1,1,'')DepartmentSpecificEmployees from tblEmp t1 group by Dept But this will work in Sql Server 2005+. How can I achieve the same in Sql Server 2000 without any variable declaration or loop or cursor? If I use COALESCE as an alternative, then I need to use a variable which will defeat the purpose Please help

  • Bash file descriptor leak

    - by Charles Duffy
I get a file descriptor leak when running the following code: function get_fd_count() { local fds cd /proc/$$/fd; fds=( * ) # avoid a StackOverflow source colorizer bug echo "${#fds[@]}" } function fd_leak_func() { echo ">> Current FDs: $(get_fd_count)" read retval new_state < <(set +e; new_state=$(echo foo); retval=$?; printf "%d %s\n" $retval $new_state) } function parent_func() { while fd_leak_func; do :; done } parent_func Tested on both 3.2.25 and 4.0.28. Taking the while loop out of parent_func and running it at top level makes the problem go away. What's going on here? More to the point, are workarounds available?

  • Queues And Wait Handles in C#

    - by Michael Covelli
I've had the following code in my application for some years and have never seen an issue from it. while ((PendingOrders.Count > 0) || (WaitHandle.WaitAny(CommandEventArr) != 1)) { lock (PendingOrders) { if (PendingOrders.Count > 0) { fbo = PendingOrders.Dequeue(); } else { fbo = null; } } // Do Some Work if fbo is != null } Where CommandEventArr is made up of the NewOrderEvent (an auto reset event) and the ExitEvent (a manual reset event). But I just realized today that its not thread safe at all. If this thread gets interrupted right after the first (PendingOrder.Count 0) check has returned false. And then the other thread both enqueues an order and sets the NewOrderEvent before I get a chance to wait on it, the body of the while loop will never run. What's the usual pattern used with a Queue and an AutoResetEvent to fix this and do what I'm trying to do with the code above?

  • Why does set key not do anything in AES/SymmetricAlgorithm?

    - by acidzombie24
    This MESSED ME UP hard. I thought i was setting the key but i was not. No exceptions, nothing happen except bad results. Why is there a setter if everything is ignored and no exceptions are thrown when i attempt to write? What is the point of the setter on the Keys property? When i do the below Key value are not changed. After an hour when i realize what was happening i wrote the loop to verify. I also tried aes.Key[0] = val; var b = val == aes.Key[0]; (and messed with it in immediate mode). Why does it have this behavior? Array.Copy(myKey, aes.Key, aes.Key.Length); int i = 0; foreach (var v in aes.Key) { var b = myKey[i++] == v; if (!b) b = b; }

  • Media player hide control

  • Shall I optimize or let compiler to do that?

    - by Knowing me knowing you
What is the preferred method of writing loops according to efficiency: Way a) /*here I'm hoping that compiler will optimize this code and won't be calling size every time it iterates through this loop*/ for (unsigned i = firstString.size(); i < anotherString.size(), ++i) { //do something } or maybe should I do it this way: Way b) unsigned first = firstString.size(); unsigned second = anotherString.size(); and now I can write: for (unsigned i = first; i < second, ++i) { //do something } the second way seems to me like worse option for two reasons: scope polluting and verbosity but it has the advantage of being sure that size() will be invoked once for each object. Looking forward to your answers.

  • [C++] Run codes for only 60 times each second.

    - by djzmo
Hello there, I'm creating a directx application that relies on the system time (because it must be accurate), and I need to run lines of code for 60 times each second in the background (in a thread created by boost::thread). that's equal to 60 FPS (frame per second), but without depending on the main application frame rate. //................. void frameThread() { // I want to run codes inside this loop for *exactly* 60 times in a second. // In other words, every 16.67 (1000/60) milliseconds for(;;) { DoWork(); //......... } } int WINAPI WinMain(HINSTANCE hInstance, HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPSTR lpCmdLine, int nShowCmd) { initialize(); //.....stuffs boost::thread framethread(frameThread); //...... } Is there a way to do this? Any kind of help would be appreciated :)

  • Search box inside a div. Django

    - by Juliette Dupuis
In my django app I display a list of elements (friends name) thanks to a loop: <div> {% for friend in group %} <p>{{ friend.name }} <p> {% endfor %} </div> I would like to create a search box on the top of my list in order to be able to find only the friends the user wants. I would like the search bar does not need to click to send the request (an example is the Airtime searchbox on top of the facebook friends list). I have absolutely no idea on how to do that, and I'm looking for hints or tips to start. Thank you very much for your help.

  • How to do something after effect animation ends in Flex?

    - by Chobicus
I'm a beginner in Flex so there must be more elegant way of doing this. //move effect private var m:Move = new Move(); //this function creates labels with some text and starts move effect on them public function moveText(i:int):void { var myLabel:Label = new Label(); myLabel.text = "some text"; m.target = myLabel; ... m.play(); } Method moveText is called in a loop so I guess that labels don't get "garbage collected". What I want to do is to remove Labels created in moveText method after play animation ends. Another way of doing this is maybe creating some kind of "pool" of labels which I would use to move arround text. I don't know how would I return labels in to "pool". The question is how to do something after effect animation ends?

  • How to initialize std::vector from C-style array?

    - by dehmann
What is the cheapest way to initialize a std::vector from a C-style array? Example: In the following class, I have a vector, but due to outside restrictions, the data will be passed in as C-style array: class Foo { std::vector<double> w_; public: void set_data(double* w, int len){ // how to cheaply initialize the std::vector? } Obviously, I can call w_.resize() and then loop over the elements, or call std::copy(). Are there any better methods?

  • Birthday effect - clarification needed plz.

    - by Mark
Please help interpret the Birthday effect as described in Wikipedia: A birthday attack works as follows: 1) Pick any message m and compute h(m). 2) Update list L. Check if h(m) is in the list L. 3) if (h(m),m) is already in L, a colliding message pair has been found. else save the pair (h(m),m) in the list L and go back to step 1. From the birthday paradox we know that we can expect to find a matching entry, after performing about 2^(n/2) hash evaluations. Does the above mean 2^(n/2) iterations through the above entire loop (i.e. 2^(n/2) returns to step 1), OR does it mean 2^(n/2) comparisons to individual items already in L.

  • Ojective C Class or struct?

    - by Scott Pendleton
I have a class Song with properties Title, Key, Artist, etc. There are no methods. I loop through a database of song information and create a Song object for each, populating the properties, and then store the Song objects in an NSArray. Then I thought, why not just have a struct Song with all those same properties instead of a class Song. Doing so would eliminate the class files, the #import Song line in the using class's .m file, and the need to alloc, init, release. On the other hand, I'd have to put the struct definition in every class that might need it. (Unless there's some globally accessible location -- is there?) Also, can a struct be stored in an NSArray?

  • DatePicker with ShowUpDown set to true

    - by mhar
I set the datepicker ShowUpDown to true. I notice that every time it reaches JANUARY of the following year it is throwing an error. Year, Month, and Day parameters describe an un-representable DateTime. reading on MSDN, it says that month should be between 1 and 12. So my guess is after the month of December, which is 12, when a user increase it again it will become 13, hence, throwing an error. Is is possible to loop this? From December(12) to January(1) instead of increasing it to 13.

  • Make array from $_POST values

    - by cbarg
Let's start telling that I'm passing an x amount of variables via post from a form. Let's name them menu_category_1, menu_category_2, ..., menu_category_x, plus, maybe, menu_category_new (I'm using an if empty to check this last one variable). To make things easier I'm also sending the parameter $key (amount of variables starting from 0). Now I need to set them into a new variable $menu_category (array), which is going to be imploded and then update my database. How do I set up that new $menu_category variable to be an array containing all my variables named in the beginning? I was thinking of using a for loop but I can't come up with something useful. Thanks!!!
