• WPF texbox focus when render to offscreen buffer

  i am rendering a textbox to an offscreen buffer using RenderTargetBitmap and i want to enter text into this textbox, however, i can't set the textbox focus (using Focus() has no effect - presumably because the canvas is not attached to a real window?) this has two consequenes: 1 the keyboard input doesn't get captured 2. even if i set the text manually using TextBox text and CaretIndex = index i dont get a caret because of the lack of focus. is there a way to make this focus somehow? and if not, i'd like to at least have the caret visible even if there is no focus, but can't see a way of doing this.

• Play Framework: Generate PDF from template that uses Javascript for graphing

  I have a template that has some Javascript used to generate graphs in the browser. I would like to use that same template to create a PDF and send as an attachment in an e-mail. In this scenario, there would be no browser/client interaction. I am using the PDF module that is available from the Play website and I have managed to get the PDF rendering to work. The only issue is that the graphs don't show up in the PDF but all other static text does. I'm assuming the graphs aren't appearing in the PDF due to the Javascript not being executed prior to the PDF generation. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this problem?

• Applying a pixel shader effect to a portion of an image

  I have a ScrollViewer that contains a very large video (16 megapixel @ 10fps) and I want to apply a pixel shader effect to it. Given the size of the images I can't apply the effect directly to the image. So I apply the effect to the ScrollContentPresenter in the control style. Which is great, everything runs nice and fast. However, I'm also rendering annotations inside of the ScrollContentPresenter which I do NOT want effects applied to (but they need to move and scale along with the image). Is there to apply the effect just to the clipped and displayed portion of the image or do I need to build a rather more complex control?

• OGRE: Non-Standard Resolution

  I am using OGRE to make a re-rendering of the film, which has a wide aspect ratio (around 1.85). The OGRE dialog seems to be showing the standard full screen resolution by default (800/600, 1024/768, etc.), but those obviously have aspect ratios of 1.333 or around that. But as long as I am not running full screen mode, why should I be restricted to these screen sizes only? I can definitely change the viewport size, but that would make it difficult for me to generate the video later. Any idea?

  Hello, Just look for strategies that have been successful in rendering hierarchies that represent inheritance structures using SL3/4 TreeViews. I need to render certain nodes differently than others, depending upon what kind of container they are (a choice between things, or simply a list of related things, etc.) So far, I've been very successful with the DataTemplate route: I've been able to use a technique described in Ted Glaza's post "Easy DataTemplateSelectors in Silverlight" (you may have retrieve a Google cache of this page). SO what I'm trying to discover is something on the order of a StyleSelector, not a DataTemplateSelector. I'm considering leveraging my current implementations of Glaza's pattern of selector objects to somehow detect the node type and set the ItemContainerStyle there, but it doesn't seem clear right now. • Weird symbols on Mac

  Since I've had my mac, I keep seeing this weird symbol. Till today, it had been only in the place of bullet points in OpenOffice.org. The first pictures shows this in a .doc file created on a Windows system. I thought nothing of it - just an annoyance. It appears no matter what the font. Real bullets appear if I delete the text and insert a bulletted list using the toolbar. Then, today I noticed in in iTunes - which seemed strange. Image 3 is a zoom of the character. It says on it: Private Use E000 F8FF. What is it (unicode related?), and how do I get the bullets working properly? Edit: The plot thickens... If I boot in Safe Mode, the symbols look like little snap boards like you'd have at the beginning of filming a scene in a film...

• Measuring the performance of classification algorithm

  I've got a classification problem in my hand, which I'd like to address with a machine learning algorithm ( Bayes, or Markovian probably, the question is independent on the classifier to be used). Given a number of training instances, I'm looking for a way to measure the performance of an implemented classificator, with taking data overfitting problem into account. That is: given N[1..100] training samples, if I run the training algorithm on every one of the samples, and use this very same samples to measure fitness, it might stuck into a data overfitting problem -the classifier will know the exact answers for the training instances, without having much predictive power, rendering the fitness results useless. An obvious solution would be seperating the hand-tagged samples into training, and test samples; and I'd like to learn about methods selecting the statistically significant samples for training.   I am editing a 96 chapter book. The text is in normal black letters on a white background. What I want to be able to do is: I want to have any changes or additions automatically shown in another (per-selected) color. Without having to a)high lite a word or phrase to be changed or added and then b)going to the toolbar and clicking on the font color In other words I want the original color of the text to remain as it is and any additions or changes to be visible in another color without having to use the toolbar. Can this be done? I use OpenOffice or Word 2007 in Windows 7.

• Problem with script to add/delete from database

  Ok - the user enters a product code, price and name using a form - the script then either adds it to the database or deletes it from the database. If the user is trying to delete a product that is not in the database they get a error message. Upon successful adding/deleting they also get a message. However, when I test it - I just get a blank page. Perl doesnt come up with any warnings, syntax errors or anything - says everything is fine... but I still just get a blank page. • Why is my CSS tool tip not functioning properly in Google Chrome, but fine in Firefox??

  http://betawww.helpcurenow.org/media/press/ You'll see I have used spans within an anchor, with the span.hover-description set to display:none; by default, and on a:hover that span is set to display block and absolutely positioned to create a tool-tip effect when hovering over the name and email of the "For Immediate Release" contact names. Everything looks as desired in Firefox, but Chrome reveals my unknown blunder somewhere. Any help on what's the problem that is causing Chrome to not display like Firefox? Incidentally, Explorer shows the tool tip as expected, although I'm getting a funky bottom margin issue below the names, and Safari has the same issue as Chrome (must be a webkit rendering setting that I need to accommodate for).

  Hi, I have recently moved my RoR app on the Heroku platform, and almost everything works fine apart from the videos. It works fine when my app runs in local but not on heroku. • Is a new thread in a Visual Studio test project aborted when the test ends?

  Hi, i have to do some message exchange with a 3rd party (in a website). When the client posts a page, i start the message exchange. When that doesn't succeed for some reason, i report this to the client by rendering the page with a message. On the background, in a separate thread, i start a process to send abort messages to the 3rd party. I can't do this while the user is waiting for the page to come back, because it might take a few minutes. But in a test project, the test ends when the message to the 3rd party is sent, and after the new thread is started. But it seems that the new thread also ends, when the test is done. Is that normal behaviour? I do start the thread in a new class with a reference to 2 objects from the class which tries to send the message in the first place, may that be a problem?

  We have a printer at our office that prints PDF files from a USB stick. It prints most files okay, but it has problems with some, especially ones generated with Latex. Some PDFs it simply refuses to print, some PDFs it prints with courier-type font, and some it prints fine except for equations. I'm looking for a way to "distill" PDFs into a dead-sure format to print. Either by simplifying / normalizing the PDF to the point that any renderer will render it correctly, or by simply making each page a 600dpi raster image in the PDF. (I could split the PDF into individual raster images and combine them manually, but I want something scriptable.) The output file size doesn't matter, as long as it's sure to print, has A4 paper size (or the original) and 300~600dpi resolution.

  Hello, I globally use singleton pattern in my project. To make it easier - boost::singleton. Current project uses Ogre3d library for rendering. Here is some class: class GraphicSystem : public singleton<GraphicSystem> { private: Ogre::RenderWindow *mWindow; public: Ogre::RenderWindow *getWindow() const { return mWindow; } }; In GraphicSystem constructor I fill the mWindow value: mWindow = mRoot->createRenderWindow(...); I cheked it, everything makes normally. So, now I have to use handler for the window in input system (to get window handle). Somewhere else in another class: Ogre::RenderWindow *temp = GraphicSystem::get_mutable_instance().getWindow(); GraphicSystem::get_mutable_instance().getWindow()->getCustomAttribute("WINDOW", &mWindowHandle); temp is 0x00, and there is segfault at last line (getting custon attribute). I can't understand, why does singleton returns undefined pointer for the window. All another singleton-based classes work well.

  I just deployed an application to a new server, and although I'm using virtualenv, I had to install a new environment on the production server, which has a different architecture. Anyway, I received no TemplateSytaxErrors in development, but on the production server, I get: Exception Type: TemplateSyntaxError Exception Value: Caught SyntaxError while rendering: invalid syntax (views.py, line 25) The offending line is: {% url admin:password_change as password_change_url %} Upon removing that line, the TemplateSyntaxError hops to the next line that has a colon in it (and lets other template tags work fine). So my question is this: is there some discrepancy in versions of Python/Django that would allow or disallow the namespacing syntax? The template tags are in django-grappelli (http://code.google.com/p/django-grappelli/), so I'd rather not go through their code and rewrite all the template tags. Development server: 32-bit Debian Python 2.5.5 Django 1.2.1 Production server: 64-bit CentOS Python 2.4.3 Django 1.2.1 Any ideas?

• Prototype and jQuery concatenation failure

  I found something strange when trying to concatenate prototype and jQuery. It seems as though when concatenated, the $ jquery reference doesn't get overwritten by prototype. I've built two test cases to single this out, and it's failing in Chrome8 and FF 3.6. Test Case 1 - Without Concatenation jQuery and Prototype are loaded separately with different script tags. jQuery is loaded first, Prototype second. Test Case 2 - With Concatenation jQuery and Prototype are concatenated into a single file, and loaded with a single script tag. jQuery is first in the script, and prototype is added second. These should act identically, but the second test is throwing errors because the $ function in prototype doesn't overwrite the $ jquery reference. Did I set these up wrong, or are browsers rendering javascript differently when it's all in the same file?

• Displaying "broken" sprites?

  I'm quite new to the world of 2D-Engines. I figured out how to load images and display those as sprites and stuff, but theres one question that bugs me. For instance, when a "rocket" hits an object it will deal damage to it and leave a crater behind. I'd like to have the crater shown on that object. That would require "skipping" some of the pixels of that image when rendering, doesn't it? My question is, how would you do such a thing? What data strcture would you use to save this? How to display a "broken" sprite?

• Fonts not found when print request comes from a child process of a Service

  I have a strange issue on a Windows Server 2003 box which has been baffling me for days now. I have a service running on the machine which calls a specified exe every 60 seconds, the exe looks at a local database to see if it needs to print anything, and if so, it prints it to a network laser printer. The problem i'm having is that some fonts won't print out when the exe is called automatically by the service, but work fine if I double click the exe to run it. The font was installed by Administrator, but the service runs as NT Authority\System. I thought this might have something to do with it, but I tried running the service as Administrator, and that didn't solve it. Are there any issues with fonts and permissions that i'm not aware of that could be causing this behaviour?

• Writing a simple webservice in C# and calling it from Ruby on Rails

  I need to create a simple webservice in C# but I'm not sure where to start (I've coded UI apps in C# before but all my web experience is in Ruby on Rails). Where do I start? The only client for the webservice will be a Ruby on Rails app so there's no need for any HTML rendering. I was thinking of just returning a XML or YAML formatted string unless there's an easier way. I'm not too keen on SOAP but if it's easy/natural in C# & Ruby then I'd consider it (or anything else).

  Hello I've a doubt. Lets consider that we have a div of width 200px. If i add the following the style style="padding-left:10px; padding-right:10px" to the element what happens actually? Will the total width of the div increases to 220px with 10px at the left (for left padding), original width 200px at the middle and 10px at the right (for right padding)? Or will it takes the padding space from the 200px and becomes (10px + 180px + 10px)? Does the above rendering differs for each browser (especially IE and FF)? Thank you NLV

  I have a Groovy application. I am rendering the view list using the following statement: render (view: 'list', model:[reportingInstanceList: reportingInstanceList, reportingInstanceTotal: i, params: params]) The list.gsp is as follows: The view is rendered but the default sorting is not working. <g:sortableColumn class="tabtitle" property="id" title="Id" titleKey="reporting.id" /> <g:sortableColumn class="tabtitle" property="company" title="Company" titleKey="reporting.company" /> Unfortunately the default sorting (by id, by company, etc) are not working. Any hint why? Thanks a lot in advance. Luis
