• ADF is YouTubed

  A blog post along the lines of "your wishes are our command". ADF developers are hopefully aware of our ADF Insider Essentials recordings, a page full of presentations from small to large topics on all-things-ADF.  A couple of customers have pointed out these recordings aren't accessible via the iPad and other Apple OSX devices thanks to the recordings being wrapped in an Adobe Flash applet. To satisfy this need we've now uploaded all of the videos as MP4s to our ADF Insider Essentials YouTube channel for your iPad viewing pleasure.  So now regardless if you're sitting at your PC or on the couch with your iPad, you can enjoy my horrible Aussie accent amongst the more professional ADF presentations from my colleagues ;-) Make sure to subscribe to the YouTube channel to receive notifications of newly uploaded content.

• How should I trouble-shoot a frozen startup screen?

  The Problem: I'm running 10.04, and it suddenly started freezing after it boots. I can move the mouse, but I can't select anything. When the problem first started, there were only two things on the screen: 1. Gnome-Do 2. "Unlock Login Keyring" dialog box What I have done thus far: Asked myself if the keyboard was plugged in :-) Yes, it is. Tried to use ALT+F2 or CTRL+ALT+F1 per the "What Should I Do When Ubuntu Freezes" question. (Neither were responsive) Tried to reboot using the REISUB method (which did reboot, but I still had the same problem upon restart) Gnome-Do was in the autostart folder, and I removed it by deleting ~/.config/autostart/gnome-do.desktop Deleted my password keyring per this blog post Tried to kill and restart X with ALT+SysReq+K (Screen went black but X didn't restart) Tried to hit the Esc button What my screen is currently showing: My screen currently shows the "Choose password for new keyring" dialog box.

• Sending JSON to an ASP.NET MVC Action Method Argument

  Javier G Money Lozano, one of the good folks involved with C4MVC, recently wrote a blog post on posting JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) encoded data to an MVC controller action. In his post, he describes an interesting approach of using a custom model binder to bind sent JSON data to an argument of an action method. Unfortunately, his sample left out the custom model binder and only demonstrates how to retrieve JSON data sent from a controller action, not how to send the JSON to the action method....Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • joomla 2.5 : list links to articles in 2 columns

  I have a Joomla! 2.5 website, and I have to add a lightbox popup that will contain links to all articles from a specific category(+subs). If anyone can suggest all-in-one solution, that will be great! But generally I'm asking, how to list links to all articles from a specific category and its sub-categories in two/three columns? I know I can set Category blog View to output only article links, without full/introtext, but in this case links will all be in one column. I need at least two. A possibility of grouping article links by subcategory would be great as well (but this is the thing I can live without). How can this be done? I'm looking for: a standard way of configuring this Template override (I'm using T3 framework) Custom extension any other method ...

Für Oracle Software können wir diese Frage beantworten, da wir ja selber der Hersteller sind. Bei Software anderer Hersteller ist die Situation etwas anders. Wir unterstützen hier Softwarepartner so gut wir können bei der Umstellung ihrer Software - soweit das notwendig ist. Dafür haben wir eine eigene Abteilung bei Oracle. Diese Abteilung veröffentlicht in ihrem eigenen Blog Hinweise auf neu verfügbare Software mit Querverweisen auf die entsprechenden Seiten der Software-Hersteller. Wer also die neuesten Nachrichten dazu lesen möchte, wird hier fündig.   Mein Kollege Karim Berrah aus der Schweiz hat die Informationen des Blogs sehr schön in einer Tabelle zusammengefasst, um die Suche zu erleichtern. Diese Liste wird von ihm von Zeit zu Zeit aktualisiert, wächst langsam aber stetig und hat natürlich nicht den Anspruch der Vollständigkeit, erleichtert aber die Suche ungemein.

  I am semi-excited to say that today is my first day into the land of backbone.js.  This will of course take me into many other new javascript-y areas.  As I have primarily been focused on building backend systems for the past many years…with no focus on client side bits…this will be all new ground for me.  Very exciting! I am sure that this endeavor will lead to writing about many new findings along the way.  Expect the subject of near future postings to not be related to MVC or server side code. • How are generics implemented?

  This is the question from compiler internals perspective. I am interested in generics, not templates (C++), so I marked the question with C#. Not Java, because AFAIK the generics in both languages differ in implementations. When I look at languages w/o generics it is pretty straightforward, you can validate the class definition, add it to hierarchy and that's it. But what to do with generic class, and more importantly how handle references to it? How to make sure that static fields are singular per instantiations (i.e. each time generic parameters are resolved). Let's say I see a call: var x = new Foo<Bar>(); Do I add new Foo_Bar class to hierarchy?   I need to find an active Java mailing list, I have looked onto the GNU Java mailing list, to my surprise there had been not too much activity this month, it also focused on any GNU related Java - I'd really help me progress my Java ability, if I had an active, likeminded Java mailing list. Questions' that are not suited to Stackoverflow, or provide little benefit to any user that see's the question: discussing a new API change; best practices; open source discussion; trivia type questions on Java ArrayList boxining-unboxing; Community atmosphere. I also read Jon Skeets blog post about his previous Java/C# mailing lists examples - I did not catch any names, though I did they would be of benefit to me, if I had access to any of them.
