• RFC2616 : Do I really need to set WWW_Authenticate when returning 401?

  According to RFC2616 if I return 401 in response to a request to my (Ruby) server, I "MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field." Is this really true? Not setting the header seems to have no negative impact. I'm using Merb as a web framework and it doesn't force me to set the header. Am I missing something or is this a rule more honoured in the breach?

  I have a web service project that needs to be set to use Integrated Windows Authentication after installation. Normally, I would install the web service, then manually go to IIS and make sure the box is checked for Integrated Windows Authentication. There has to be a way to do this through code. I have looked up on using the Installer class. It looks like this is something I could use, but I have not found anything on setting properties programmatically in IIS.

• jQuery oembed plugin z-index problem

  I'm using the jQuery oembed plugin to display videos from a Vimeo feed. The only problem is they display over the top of my navigation menu. I have tried setting the z-index of the menu but this makes no difference. A common suggestion seems to be to set the wmode parameter to transparent or opaque. However, passing this as a parameter to the oembed function makes no difference. Thanks

• "IntelliTrace debugging not available" error in Visual Studio 2010

  In XP 32bit Visual Studio 2010 I get the error below when I start debugging with IntelliTrace enabled. Doesn't IntelliTrace work in Windows XP or is there some setting which causes this error? UPDATE: The error occurs when I choose the second option to add call information in the IntelliTrace settings. There's nothing in the event log about this error. The question now is how to find out why VS is having trouble adding call information.

  I'm using LaTeX in conjunction with the listings package and I'm trying to suppress the title of a listing such that it is neither viewed below the actual listing nor in the list of listings. Setting the option title to title="" or title= does not work. It only leads to the suppression of the listing in the list of listings. However, in the first case "" is displayed below the listing and in the latter one Listing: is displayed below the listing. Is there a way to fix this?

  While taking a look at this awesome thread I noticed that some examples use PS1="Blah Blah Blah" and some use PROMPT_COMMAND="Blah Blah Blah" (and some use both) when setting the prompt in a bash shell. What is the difference between the two?   A ToolStripComboBox is placed after a ToolStripButton and is folowed by another one, which is right-aligned. How do I best set up the ToolStripComboBox to always adjust its length to fill all the space available between the preceeding and the folowing ToolStripButtons? In past I used to handle a parent resize event, calculate the new length to set based on neighboring elements coordinates and setting the new size. But now, as I am developing a new application, I wonder if there is no better way.

• IIS not giving line numbers in stack trace even though pdb present

  Web config has debug=true and the project is a debug build and the pdb files are present in the bin directory, but I do not get line numbers in my stacktrace when an execption is thrown. Works fine with local IIS/Cassini but not on our test IIS servers. Is there some obvious setting that I might be missing?

  Setting oauth with some providers is always kind of weird; currently hitting a problem concerning the callback, i had made everything work very nicely with google, getting redirected back specifying the callback url in both the get_request_token and redirect url param oauth_callback= but it then for some reason stopped redirecting, i'm currently stuck with the pin to specify over at google.
