    My application stores lots of its users friends' phone numbers. I'd like to allow users to associate names with these phone numbers, but I don't want to make users manually type in names (obviously). I'm curious what the best overall approach is here, as well as the best way to implement it Overall approach-wise, I imagine using Gmail / Yahoo / Windows Live contacts is best (the Facebook API doesn't let you access phone numbers), though the gems I've found for interacting with these contacts APIs (this and this) only give you access to the names and email addresses of each contact.

These objects end up being rendered as views (say forms) in a rich client app. I started to annotate the fields in the model objects (Java annotations) with things that let me render them as forms on the fly (e.g displayname, group, page, validvalues).   • How to compress/decompress a long query string in PHP?

    I doubt if this is encryption but I can't find a better phrase. I need to pass a long query string like this: http://test.com/test.php?key=[some_very_loooooooooooooooooooooooong_query_string] The query string contains NO sensitive information so I'm not really concerned about security in this case. It's just...well, too long and ugly. Is there a library function that can let me encode/encrypt/compress the query string into something similar to the result of a md5() (similar as in, always a 32 character string), but decode/decrypt/decompress-able?

  • How to mutibind three properties, to dispatch the last change to all properties?

    In WPF, I've three objects exposing the same DependencyProperty (let's say it's an integer). I want all three property values to remain synchronized, i.e. that whenever the int value changes in an object, this value is propagated to the two other objects. I think of multibinding to do the job, but I don't know how to detect which object changed, thus which value should be used and propagated to the other objects.

  • Given n report thumbnails, how do I create a Flex Effect that zooms into the selected report?

    I am worried about performance issues. If I just render all n reports zoomed out, then that will cost me in performance. Even animating a zoomed out report to zoom in, will also cost me in performance because it has to recalculate all the UIComponent's of my report as it transitions from zoomed out to zoomed in-to view. Any solutions/suggestions welcome. Let me know if you need clarification.

Let's say if I provide a score threshold of .2, then all documents with score less than .2 will be removed from my results.     In sprite-based systems, it's common to fake rotation of a sprite by having many different images, each showing it rotated an extra few degrees. Is there any free tool which will take a single image, and output a single image containing several rotations? It should also ideally let us control how many images are in each row. e.g if I have a 32x32 sprite and I want it rotated at 10 degree intervals, the tool might generate a 320x32 file or a 160x64 file

  • Amazon S3 components for Delphi 2010

    Besides the Amazon Integrator from /n software, are there any other Amazon S3 components available that can be used with Delphi 2010? I would use the one from /n software, but it has some issues (e.g. GetObjectInfo doesn't work if the object is stored in a specific location) and limitations (e.g. copying objects doesn't let you define replacement meta-data). I don't have the time or resources to create such a component myself. Thanks!

Is there any way to stop the inner, malformed HTML from screwing up the alignment of the entire document that comes after the HTML?
