• Are nested functions a bad thing in gcc ?

  Hi, I know that nested functions are not part of the standard C, but since they're present in gcc (and the fact that gcc is the only compiler i care about), i tend to use them quite often. Is this a bad thing ? If so, could you show me some nasty examples ? What's the status of nested functions in gcc ? Are they going to be removed ? thanks

• What is the best way to manage unix process from java?

  I'm looking for some simple tasks like listing all the running process of a user, or kill a particular process by pid etc. Basic unix process management from Java. Is there a library out there that is relatively mature and documented? I could run a external command from the JVM and then parse the standard output/error but that seems like a lot of work and not robust at all. Any suggestions?

  My wife's Samsung netbook, which has Windows XP Home Edition OEM and a 5400 SATA 2 HDD, has finally crawled to (almost) a halt, and I've decided to install an OCZ SSD into it. The problem is that the machine came with no recovery media, but the recovery partition exists and I can boot into it. How can I go about creating a bootable DVD from that partition, and then boot off that to install on the SSD? NOTE: My aim after this is to upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium, as the upgrade option is a lot cheaper than purchasing a retail or DSP equivalent.

  I install SQL Server 2005 EXPRESS edition on one computer, Computer Name = 'MyServe' and Database name='MyDB',take it as database server. it is configured as both Database and Windows Authentication Mode. with username=sa and password=adminaa. I have application in C#.Net my connection string is ConnectionString = "Data Source=MyServe\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=MyDB;Integrated Security=True;User ID=sa;Password=adminaa"; when I run the application on the computer called MyServe, the database server, it works well, while when I install the application on different computer, when it tries to connect the database it gives an error called "login failed for user 'MyServe\Guest" what is wrong with configuration in the database server or other mistakes. please help me. thankyou in advance.   When I try to inspect DataSet by standard DataSet visualizer I see this error "could not load this custom viewer". I wrote simple dataset visualizer, but error throws anyway too. On other computers with the same configuration visualizer show without any errors. OS: Windows 7 x86 (Release) VS: Visual Studio 2010 RC has somebody any ideas? I reinstall VS with no effect.

• Restoring openldap configuration from ldif file?

  I am trying to restore my OpenLDAP server from an ldif file I made before it went horribly wrong. All of the websites I found talk about using slapadd but when I run slapadd -v -l ~ns01/openldap_config.ldif it returns the error Could not stat config file "/etc/ldap/slapd.conf" : No such file or directory (2) slapadd: bad configuration file! When I look in the directory indeed the file does not exist, but this is because Ubuntu 11.10 is running in RTC mode, my LDAP server uses the /etc/slapd.d/cn=config for the configuration. So? What am I missing? Is slapadd the wrong tool to use? As I said above I running on Ubuntu 11.10 server edition 64-bit.

  I am using an Excel Add-in for an Erlangs: http://abstractmicro.com/erlang/helppages/ref-erlbblockage.htm I try to call the Erlang-B function within the Add-in from within VBA thus: Function Erl(Erlangs As Double, Capacity As Double) Erl = Application.WorksheetFunction.ErlbBlockage(Capacity, Erlangs) End Function ...but it doesn't work. I get #VALUE! returned in the Excel cell. I think it is because the function is not part of standard Excel (it is in the Add-in). So how do I call it?

I found that there seems to be no standard C++ library for this. OpenLDAP provides a C API and there should also be a C++ API (experimental?) somewhere..   Hi, I installed Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition on my Windows 7 Pro. My problem is that I cannot log into database from other host (local network). When I connect to database using Oracle SQLdeveloper everything is ok as long as I specify 'localhost' in connection configuration. However, when I change it to '192.168.0.190' which is my host IP address I get 'The Network Adapter could not establish the connection'. I get the same error when logging in from other host in local network. What is the problem?

In standard SQL I would write this as: SELECT FirstName, LastName, RefId, Email FROM Users_ActiveDirectory AS ADU WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT U.RefId FROM Users AS U WHERE U.RefID = ADU.RefId ) However I'm not sure how to achieve the same result using LINQ2SQL?
