  • Assigning a vector of one type to a vector of another type

    - by deworde
    Hi, I have an "Event" class. Due to the way dates are handled, we need to wrap this class in a "UIEvent" class, which holds the Event, and the date of the Event in another format. What is the best way of allowing conversion from Event to UIEvent and back? I thought overloading the assignment or copy constructor of UIEvent to accept Events (and vice versa)might be best.

  • Android ACTION_SEND Attached File

    - by Sean
    When you attach a file to an e-mail using the ACTION_SEND intent (with the extra EXTRA_STREAM) does the e-mail app copy that attached file to its own location? My app creates a file and attaches it to an email, but this can happen many times and I would like to be able to delete this file when it is no longer needed (so it doesn't flood the user's storage with junk data). Is the file safe to delete after the e-mail intent has started?

  • Why is there no way to resize SRFI-4 vectors in Scheme?

    - by Jay
    I see that SRFI 4 does not mention resizing of vectors. I'm using f64vectors (for which I need fast access), and I'd like to be able to resize them quickly (similar to what realloc does in C), and not necessarily copy the whole vector. Since I didn't find any references to a "resize-f64vector" procedure, I'd like to know why it doesn't exist (and if making a new vector and copying over is my only option).

  • How to safely store encryption key in a .NET assembly

    - by Alex
    In order to prevent somebody from grabbing my data easily, I cache data from my service as encrypted files (copy protection, basically). However, in order to do this, I must store the encryption key within the .NET assembly so it is able to encrypt and decrypt these files. Being aware of tools like Red Gate's .NET Reflector which can pull my key right out, I get a feeling that this is not a very safe way of doing it... are there any best practices to doing this?

  • Using memcpy in the STL

    - by wowus
    Why does C++'s vector class call copy constructors? Why doesn't it just memcpy the underlying data? Wouldn't that be a lot faster, and remove half of the need for move semantics? I can't imagine a use case where this would be worse, but then again, maybe it's just because I'm being quite unimaginative.

  • pylab.savefig() and pylab.show() image difference

    - by Jack1990
    I'm making an script to automatically create plots from .xvg files, but there's a problem when I'm trying to use pylab's savefig() method. Using pylab.show() and saving from there, everything's fine. Using pylab.show() Using pylab.savefig() def producePlot(timestep, energy_values,type_line = 'r', jump = 1,finish = 100): fc = sp.interp1d(timestep[::jump], energy_values[::jump],kind='cubic') xnew = numpy.linspace(0, finish, finish*2) pylab.plot(xnew, fc(xnew),type_line) pylab.xlabel('Time in ps ') pylab.ylabel('kJ/mol') pylab.xlim(xmin=0, xmax=finish) def produceSimplePlot(timestep, energy_values,type_line = 'r', jump = 1,finish = 100): pylab.plot(timestep, energy_values,type_line) pylab.xlabel('Time in ps ') pylab.ylabel('kJ/mol') pylab.xlim(xmin=0, xmax=finish) def linearRegression(timestep, energy_values, type_line = 'g'): #, jump = 1,finish = 100): from scipy import stats import numpy #print 'fuck' timestep = numpy.asarray(timestep) slope, intercept, r_value, p_value, std_err = stats.linregress(timestep,energy_values) line = slope*timestep+intercept pylab.plot(timestep, line, type_line) def plottingTime(Title,file_name, timestep, energy_values ,loc, jump , finish): pylab.title(Title) producePlot(timestep,energy_values, 'b',jump, finish) linearRegression(timestep,energy_values) import numpy Average = numpy.average(energy_values) #print Average pylab.legend(("Average = %.2f" %(Average),'Linear Reg'),loc) #pylab.show() pylab.savefig('%s.jpg' %file_name[:-4], bbox_inches= None, pad_inches=0) #if __name__ == '__main__': #plottingTime(Title,timestep1, energy_values, jump =10, finish = 4800) def specialCase(Title,file_name, timestep, energy_values,loc, jump, finish): #print 'Working here ...?' pylab.title(Title) producePlot(timestep,energy_values, 'b',jump, finish) import numpy from pylab import * Average = numpy.average(energy_values) #print Average pylab.legend(("Average = %.2g" %(Average), Title),loc) locs,labels = yticks() yticks(locs, map(lambda x: "%.3g" % x, locs)) #pylab.show() pylab.savefig('%s.jpg' %file_name[:-4] , bbox_inches= None, pad_inches=0) Thanks in advance, John

  • What is iproxy.saverpigeeks.com

    I'm seeing it in a ton of search results and even copy pasted into content on this site (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2687289/adding-a-bookmark-link-to-a-facebook-iframe-app). Is it a phishing thing or just some actual proxy thing that is innocent?

  • Using NSXMLParser to parse Vimeo XML on iPhone.

    - by Sonny Fazio
    Hello, I'm working on an iPhone app that will use Vimeo Simple API to give me a listing our videos by a certain user, in a convenient TableView format. I'm new to Parsing XML and have tried TouchXML, TinyXML, and now NSXMLParser with no luck. Most tutorials on parsing XML are for a blog, and not for an API XML sheet. I've tried modifying the blog parsers to search for the specific tags, but it doesn't seem to work. Right now I'm working with NSXMLParser and it seems to correctly find the value of an XML tag, but when it goes to append it to a NSMutableString, it writes a whole bunch of nulls in between it. I'm using a tutorial from theappleblog and modifying it to work with Vimeo API - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string{ if ([currentElement isEqualToString:@"video_title"]) { NSLog(@"String: %@",string); [currentTitle appendString:string]; } else if ([currentElement isEqualToString:@"video_url"]) { [currentLink appendString:string]; } else if ([currentElement isEqualToString:@"video_description"]) { [currentSummary appendString:string]; } else if ([currentElement isEqualToString:@"date"]) { [currentDate appendString:string]; } Here is the nulls it writes: http://grab.by/grabs/92d9cfc2df4fac3fe6579493b1a8e89f.png Then when it finishes, it has to add the NSMutableStrings into a NSMutableDictionary - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict{ //NSLog(@"found this element: %@", elementName); currentElement = [elementName copy]; if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"item"]) { // clear out our story item caches... item = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; currentTitle = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentDate = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentSummary = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; currentLink = [[NSMutableString alloc] init]; } } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didEndElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName{ NSLog(@"Title: %@",currentTitle); if ([elementName isEqualToString:@"item"]) {// save values to an item, then store that item into the array... [item setObject:currentTitle forKey:@"video_title"]; NSLog(@"Current Title%@", currentTitle); [item setObject:currentLink forKey:@"video_url"]; [item setObject:currentSummary forKey:@"video_description"]; [item setObject:currentDate forKey:@"date"]; [stories addObject:[item copy]]; NSLog(@"adding story: %@", currentTitle); } } I would really appreciate it if someone has any advance

  • Convert Existing Eclipse Project to Maven Project

    - by Tom G
    For a project at work, we're considering using the Maven plugin for Eclipse to automate our builds. Right now the procedure is far more complicated than it ought to be, and we're hoping that Maven will simplify things to a one-click build. My question is, is there a wizard or automatic importer for converting an existing Eclipse Java project to a Maven project, using the Maven plugin? Or should I create a new Maven project and manually copy over all source files, libs, etc.

  • C# Copying instance variable to local variable in functions of same class

    - by NickLarsen
    I have been looking through some code on an open source project recently and found many occurrences of this kind of code: class SomeClass { private int SomeNumber = 42; public ReturnValue UseSomeNumber(...) { int someNumberCopy = this.SomeNumber; if (someNumberCopy > ...) { // ... do some work with someNumberCopy } else { // ... do something else with someNumberCopy } } } Is there any real benefit to making a copy of the instance variable?
