The goal is to monitor incoming bug reports and reduce them, allow never ending features and get ready for scaling 10x. The phrases "test-driven-development" and "continuous-integration" are not even understood by the team cause they were all in the first 2 year product race. Tech team size is 5. The question is how to sell/convince team and management about TDD/unit testing/coding standards/documentation - with economics. train the team to do more than just feature coding and start writing test units along - which looks like more work, means needs more time! how to plan for creating units for all backlog production code

• Where to start building a BaaS

  I'm building a Cloud Platform, and the next phase of design involves building an extensible BaaS back end. (see http://youtu.be/lNi-05-PyEw) The reason I think we can attempt this, is there are dozens of these kinds of extensible back end data proxy's popping up almost daily at this point, which tells me the enabling technology is there to build one from scratch in a few months. I'd like to start in the right area: What kind of Dev background should I look for? What kind of tech stack should I build on? What kind of costs can I expect in terms of man-hours, etc... I know there isn't one right answer here, but I think this is the right sub to post this in, and credit will go towards to most constructive answer.

  I ran into some problems with my ATI Radeon x1200. I want it to support vertex shader 3.0, but it only does 2.0. This is because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 only works with 3.0. So, I want a new video card. Can someone help me, with a more clean look to it? I bet if I would stick to some seller, I would end up with a video card that does not support what I want, or is too expansive. I really do not want it to be above $75, if possible. • USB Ports In Wrong Mode, How To Use usbmodeswitch?

  I haven't had access to my USB ports as media devices for a couple days now. I've been reading and researching everything I can find but I can't find a good guide for usbmodeswtich or usbms that I can decipher. The USB's are fine for power, but won't support my android phone as a media device, which is killing me because I use adb everyday, and won't support my plug and play mouse any longer. Not sure what caused the switch, though I think it may be related to the suspend issue I've read about, but the solutions in those threads I read also didn't work. Below is my system information and details.   I am in need of a software that is PHP-Based, or similar that can be installed on my server that doesn't offer SVN Perks. It should be somewhat similar to an SVN, however, since the server doesn't support SVN, we'll need another means of doing sort of the same thing. We have a team of Developers and need to accomplish progress in the same way that an SVN does, but without that type of server support. • As a Junior Software Engineer should I say that something has been done wrong if I feel so?

  I recently joined a company and it is my first job. When reading the code base, I felt that the code was not well written. It seemed to me that the code had most of the problems mentioned here and also seemed to have an Anemic Domain Model. There are no unit tests and they don't employ any code quality checking tools like findbugs or pmd. The problem I have is that the code is very difficult to understand. Maybe my conclusions are wrong because I am not that experienced. I need advice on whether to communicate the above facts to a superior or not. If I am to communicate, to whom(Tech Lead, Architect, Product Manager) and how? And if I do communicate will they take it badly since I'm a Junior and has no experience?

  This is primarily a lein question about setting up a major project and its sub-projects, and is not intended to be a discussion question. Instead, I am interested in either a pointer to documentation or to a Clojure/lein best practices link. I have a municipal property assessments application that splits two master flies into different subset files, depending on whether a billing transfer is taking place or we want to batch update new accounts, rather than making our assessment department enter new accounts once in their system and then again in the tax collection system. My application is going to be large enough, that I can see a common library lein project with support functions, like splitting apart the files, and then individual lein projects that use the common library. Should the lein projects be set up at the same level and support included through the project.clj/core.clj files? Is there an advantage to creating lein new projects underneath a major project? Is there a problem with combing all functions in one project? I can probably make my one core.clj contain all flavors of the program, but coming from a C/C++ and Python background, I would prefer to have a lot of little projects.

  Mai világunkban már hozzászokhattunk, hogy minden változik. Már meg sem lep bennünket, hogy az ÁFA törvény 2013-tól szintén módosul. Jó hír E-Business Suite 11i -t használó Ügyfeleink számára, hogy elkészült az adótörvények változásához kapcsolódóan (Art. 31/B §) az Oracle E-Business Suite 11i (11.5.10) verziójához az új lokalizációs ÁFA csomag, amely a 2013-tól az "Összesíto jelentés"-hez szükséges adatok eloállítását támogatja. Az új ÁFA csomag az alábbi három új kimutatás csoportot tartalmazza, amelyek a jelenlegi ÁFA megoldáshoz hasonlóan lehetové teszik a riport eredmények elozetes megtekintését, az eredmények véglegesítését, illetve szükség esetén másolati nyomtatás készítését: - "OHU: ÁFA analitika és összesíto jelentés 2013 (Elozetes)" - "OHU: ÁFA analitika és összesíto jelentés 2013 (Végleges)" - "OHU: ÁFA analitika és összesíto jelentés 2013 (Másolat)" A kimutatás csoportokban az alábbi programok lesznek elérhetok:  - OHU: ÁFA analitika kimutatás  - OHU: Belföldi összesíto jelentés partnerenként Az "OHU: ÁFA analitika kimutatás" funkcionális szempontból nem módosul, csak az ahhoz szükséges technikai módosítások kerülnek átvezetésre, hogy a kimutatás által összegyujtött adatok az "OHU: Belföldi összesíto jelentés partnerenként" kimutatás számára elérhetok legyenek. A lokalizációs csomagban korábban elérheto:  - "OHU: Levonható ÁFA megosztási kimutatás" és a kapcsolódó  - "OHU: ÁFA Fizeto pozíció bejegyzése" programok nem kerülnek aktualizálásra, mivel használatuk korábbi adó törvény változások miatt már nem szükséges. A 2013-ra vonatkozó ÁFA bevallások készítése során már az új "OHU: ÁFA analitika és összesíto jelentés 2013" kimutatáscsoportok futtatását javasoljuk, a korábbi ÁFA kimutatás csoportokat pedig használaton kívül kell helyezni. A 2013-tól használandó új ÁFA csomag az Oracle Support szolgáltatásán keresztül érheto el. Ügyfeleink a My Oracle Support-on 1713-as termékkódra (EMEA Add-on Localizations) megnyitott hibajegyen (SR) bejelentésével jelezhetik igényüket a fentebb részletezett lokalizációs csomagra.

• DHCPPloc.exe or equivalent for Windows 7?

  There seems to be some DHCP funnyness going on so I need to run something to show me what's going at a DHCP level. Before I upgraded my machine to Windows 7 I used DHCPloc.exe from the Windows XP support tools, and it worked like a charm. I can't seem to find Support Tools for Windows 7, and trying to use the XP tools in compatibility mode doesn't work (I tried, it fails to open a receiving socket). I need a tool to monitor DHCP traffic, and ideally one that lets me filter it to exclude DHCP traffic from our trusted DHCP servers and only show me un-authorised DHCP traffic.

• How to ramp up my data structures skills after a long hibernation

  I was pretty good with algorithms and data structures once, a long long time ago. Since then, I programmed professionally, and then went to manage a small team, which totally shot my tech skills in this field back. I've decided I want to be a developer again, and work for Google. The thing is, I'm so out of practice, that if I were to be interviewed right now I would surely flunk out in 10 minutes. What training program would you recommend for me to get back into shape? I already started this weekend by going back to the absolute basics and implementing a few sort algorithms, linked list, and hash table. Next, I think I'll read through the entire course material on the other basic data structures and graph algorithms. I want to find a focused set of practical exercises I can do in a relatively short amount of time, to juggle the old brain cells. I know this stuff - I just need to remind myself that I know it.

• First time user here

  Never used Linux before but I decided I want to start somewhere and Ubuntu seemed like the right place to start. I burned the 64bit version iso onto a CD and installed it onto a fresh new hard drive I got and it installed nicely or so I thought. First major problem was the fact that the screen slip oddly, second when I tried to log in everything just kind of froze, I could still move the cursor but thats it. I'm not too tech savy but I can follow instructions and any help given would be greatly appreciated. I am considering dual booting it with my other hard drive that has windows 7 on it but I'm afraid I might mess that up, plus if I do it that way I wouldn't know how to get rid of Ubuntu if I decide its not for me.

• Jumbo Frames on DIR-655

  Hello, I am trying to set up jumbo frames on my gigabit home LAN but no luck so far. My setup is: D-Link DIR-655 router, HW Revision A3, Firmware 1.21 EU Synology DS107+, Firmware 3.0-1337 Laptop w/ Win7 x64, external PCIx NIC managed by "Generic Marvel Yukon 88E8053 based Ethernet Controller" The router is supposed to support jumbo frames but doesn't feature any relevant setting. I set the Jumbo Packet value to 9000 on both the NIC and the Synobox but it doesn't work, ping -f -l 8972 says "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set". Is there any other setting I overlooked, the DIR-655 doesn't actually support jumbo frames, or what else could be the problem?

• GRUB2 not working after installing xubuntu 14.04

  I have a vaio laptop and it used to have installed windows 8 and Xubuntu 13.04 in dual boot, everything was working fine. I decided to update my version of xubuntu 14.04 LTS mainly because the support for 13.04 is finished and LTS version have 3 years of support. What I did was to format the partition where xubuntu 13.04 was installed and install 14.04 in that formated partition. When I restarted my computer willing to start using my new system I got the following message: error: symbol 'grub_term_highlight_color' not found and I was not able to enter any OS. I tried boot-repair from live USB more than two times and it did not fix the problem. I tried to enter to my computer using super GRUB2 disk, however it does not apperar to work with UEFI active (besides super grub2 disk says it can) I only get the message "no operating system found". If I boot super grub2 disk with UEFI disabled, super grub2 disk can not detect any OS,I also tried Rescatux distro, however, as of super grub2 disk, rescatux cannot enter when UEFI is active. I tried boot-repair with the option of "restore EFI backups", after that I was able to boot on windows, but no grub menu appeared. • Is WEP used in conjunction with a wireless access list adequate security?

  I use a Netgear wireless router, with various wireless devices connecting to it. One of my wireless devices doesn't support WPA2 security, so I had to downgrade the security on the router to WEP. We all know WEP is broken, so as an added measure I enabled a wireless access list on the router so that only devices with specified MAC addresses which are in my access list are permitted to connect to the router. I know it is possible to spoof a MAC address from a device for the purposes of accessing a secure network like this. But is it easy? Is using WEP and a wireless access list good enough to prevent most hacking attacks? Or should I do whatever I can to ensure all devices support WPA2 in the future?

  I am a first time builder and while I have the basic understanding of how to put a computer together, one final thing eludes me. What are the requirements for instaling 2 or more graphics cards on a computer? Example: EVGA 015-P3-1589-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) FTW Hydro Copper 2 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card ECS NGTX580-1536PI-F GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card I am not planning on buying either of these cards in the near future. I simply am using them as an example because of the number of differences. As I understand it these two cards will work together (given the proper motherboard) because the only thing that matters is that they are both GeForce GTX 580. Is my assumption correct? If not, why?
