    I would like to search between to columns in a s query or a table depending on the variable on a paramenter e.g Declare @SelectAll as interger Set @SelectAll = 1 Declare @Column as interger Select mt.Column1, mtColumn2 From MyTable as mt Where Case When @SelectAll = 1 Then mt.Column1 IN(@Column) and mt.Column2 (' Selecting all") When @SelectAll = 1 Then mt.Column2 IN(@Column) and mt.Column1 (' Selecting all") End The purpose of this query is to allow the user to search between the column they choose. Further more the use of parameter is for the purposes of writing reporting services reports.

  • Parsing language for both binary and character files

    The problem: You have some data and your program needs specified input. For example strings which are numbers. You are searching for a way to transform the original data in a format you need. And the problem is: The source can be anything. It can be XML, property lists, binary which contains the needed data deeply embedded in binary junk. And your output format may vary also: It can be number strings, float, doubles.... You don't want to program. You want routines which gives you commands capable to transform the data in a form you wish. Surely it contains regular expressions, but it is very good designed and it offers capabilities which are sometimes much more easier and more powerful. Something like a super-grep which you can access (!) as program routines, not only as tool. It allows: joining/grouping/merging of results inserting/deleting/finding/replacing write macros which allows to execute a command chain repeatedly meta-grouping (lists-tables-hypertables) Example (No, I am not looking for a solution to this, it is just an example): You want to read xml strings embedded in a binary file with variable length records. Your tool reads the record length and deletes the junk surrounding your text. Now it splits open the xml and extracts the strings. Being Indian number glyphs and containing decimal commas instead of decimal points, your tool transforms it into ASCII and replaces commas with points. Now the results must be stored into matrices of variable length....etc. etc. I am searching for a good language / language-design and if possible, an implementation. Which design do you like or even, if it does not fulfill the conditions, wouldn't you want to miss ? EDIT: The question is if a solution for the problem exists and if yes, which implementations are available. You DO NOT implement your own sorting algorithm if Quicksort, Mergesort and Heapsort is available. You DO NOT invent your own text parsing method if you have regular expressions. You DO NOT invent your own 3D language for graphics if OpenGL/Direct3D is available. There are existing solutions or at least papers describing the problem and giving suggestions. And there are people who may have worked and experienced such problems and who can give ideas and suggestions. The idea that this problem is totally new and I should work out and implement it myself without background knowledge seems for me, I must admit, totally off the mark.

Please don't tell me that the last solution is better only because jQuery uses that.

This is somewhat annoying. Is there any way to disable this?

Is there a method similar to each that provides this (while still providing the hash key/value data), or do I need to create another counter variable to increment within the loop?

  • Ruby - How to remove a setter on an object

    Given a class like this: class B class << self attr_accessor :var end end Suppose I can't modify the original source code of class B. How might I go about removing the setter on the class variable var? I've tried using something like B.send("unset_method", "var="), but that doesn't work (nor does remove_method, or overwriting that method with a var= method that doesn't do anything). Any ideas?

    Hi all: I've been trying to obtain the Driver class for JDBC connection to MySQL. The workstation is running on Linux, Fedora 10. I have manually set up the classpath variable for Java by CLI like this: bash-3.2$ echo $CLASSPATH /home/cmao/public_html/jsp/mysql-connector-java-5.1.12-bin.jar This shows that I've added the lastest mysql connection jar archive to my CLASSPATH variable. You can check those Error pages from the following links: classpath Error page catalina Error page tomcat Error page It seems, from my limited knowledge of JSP and Servlet, the Tomcat environment "ignores" my Java CLASSPATH? In which case I cannot configure the MySQL JDBC package to let my Servlets(a JSP is but a Servlet anyway) work. I am not sure how to fix this issue. would it be better if I use an IDE like Eclipse or NetBeans and create a real Java "web app" so that everything can be "self-configured" by the usage of a web.config XML configuration file? So that I can certainly bypass this Tomcat environment restriction? Many thanks for the suggestions in advance.

  • When using delegates, need better way to do sequential processing

    I have a class WebServiceCaller that uses NSURLConnection to make asynchronous calls to a web service. The class provides a delegate property and when the web service call is done, it calls a method webServiceDoneWithXXX on the delegate. There are several web service methods that can be called, two of which are say GetSummary and GetList. The classes that use WebServiceCaller initially need both the summary and list so they are written like this: -(void)getAllData { [webServiceCaller getSummary]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetSummary { [webServiceCaller getList]; } -(void)webServiceDoneWithGetList { ... } This works but there are at least two problems: The calls are split across delegate methods so it's hard to see the sequence at a glance but more important it's hard to control or modify the sequence. Sometimes I want to call just GetSummary and not also GetList so I would then have to use an ugly class-level state variable that tells webServiceDoneWithGetSummary whether to call GetList or not. Assume that GetList cannot be done until GetSummary completes and returns some data which is used as input to GetList. Is there a better way to handle this and still get asynchronous calls? Update based on Matt Long's answer: Using notifications instead of a delegate, it looks like I can solve problem #2 by setting a different selector depending on whether I want the full sequence (GetSummary+GetList) or just GetSummary. Both observers would still use the same notification name when calling GetSummary. The "go" function is directly coupled to a datagrid in an aspx page. The only way to inspect the returned datatable, is to use a temporary variable... However, that's a bit inconvenient. Isn't there another way?

    Hi, I'm trying to read a file byte by byte, but I'm not sure how to do that. I'm trying to do it like that: file = open(filename, 'rb') while 1: byte = file.read(8) # Do something... So does that make the variable byte to contain 8 next bits at the beginning of every loop? It doesn't matter what those bytes really are. The only thing that matters is that I need to read a file in 8-bit stacks.

    I have a function in C++ that takes in an std::istream as the input: class Foo { Foo(std::istream &); } Using SWIG, I've bound it to Ruby, but Ruby's $stdin variable is fundamentally different from anything like the stream classes in C++, so I'm not sure how to either 1) expose the C++ class to Ruby in a way that I can use $stdin, or 2) convert $stdin into something the C++ class can understand. Anyone have experience with binding iostreams in C++ to Ruby? Thanks.
