  • How can I add a custom item to the Sound Indicator (and make it clickable more than once)?

    The original question One of the strength of Unity are the various standardized indicators. I want to customize the sound indicator with an additional menu entry that runs a small shell script. I'm not afraid of a little Python code and I hope someone can point me to the right subroutine in the right file. I suspect that will be fairly easy but all the indicators are just so bloated that I can't look through their code in a reasonable time. Any help is appreciated. I know it is possible as the marvelous Skype-Wrapper does it. Edit 2 - Now a dirty DBus hack The one click problem from one edit before has now turned into a DBus problem. Basically we have to tell the sound indicator that our bogus player has terminated now. For some reason the solution proposed by Takkat has the drawback that the resulting entry in indicator sound can only be clicked once per session.   • How do I merge multiple PDB files ?

    We are currently using a single command line tool to build our product on both Windows and Linux. Si far its works nicely, allowing us to build out of source and with finer dependencies than what any of our previous build system allowed. This buys us great incremental and parallel build capabilities. To describe shortly the build process, we get the usual: .cpp -- cl.exe --> .obj and .pdb multiple .obj and .pdb -- cl.exe --> single .dll .lib .pdb multiple .obj and .pdb -- cl.exe --> single .exe .pdb The msvc C/C++ compiler supports it adequately. Recently the need to build a few static libraries emerged. From what we gathered, the process to build a static library is: multiple .cpp -- cl.exe --> multiple .obj and a single .pdb multiple .obj -- lib.exe --> a single .lib The single .pdb means that cl.exe should only be executed once for all the .cpp sources. This single execution means that we can't parallelize the build for this static library. This is really unfortunate. We investigated a bit further and according to the documentation (and the available command line options): cl.exe does not know how to build static libraries lib.exe does not know how to build .pdb files Does anybody know a way to merge multiple PDB files ? Are we doomed to have slow builds for static libraries ? How do tools like Incredibuild work around this issue ?

  • How do I mock a custom field that is deleted so that south migrations run?

    I have removed an app that contained a couple of custom fields from my project. Now when I try to run my migrations I get ImportError, naturally. These fields were very basic customizations like below: from django.db.models.fields import IntegerField class SomeField(IntegerField): def get_internal_type(self): return "SomeField" def db_type(self, connectio=None): return 'integer' def clean(self, value): # some custom cleanup pass So, none of them contain any database level customizations. When I removed this code, I've created migrations so the subsequent migration all ran fine. But when I try to run them on a pre-deletion database I realized my mistake. I can re-create a bare-bones app and make these imports work, but Ideally I would like to know if South has a mechanism to resolve these issues? Or is there any best practises? It would be cool if I could solve these issues just by modifying my migrations and not touching the codebase. (Django 1.3, South 0.7.3)

    Hi, When I install a beta, I do a custom install into a separate folder to the latest release version. I have several old beta installs. How do I uninstall the old custom versions of xcode? Can I just trash the folder? Our do I need to use Terminal? The release notes suggest to use this: $ sudo /Library/uninstall-devtools --mode=all But will this just uninstall my original official release version 3.2? Thanks.

  • ClassCleanup in MSTest is static, but the build server uses nunit to run the unit tests. How can i a

    Hi All, MSTest has a [ClassCleanup()] attribute, which needs to be static as far as I can tell. I like to run through after my unit tests have run,and clean up my database. This all works great, however when I go to our build server and use our Nant build script, it seems like the unit tests are run with NUnit. NUnit doesn't seem to like the cleanup method to be static. It therefore ignores my tests in that class. What can I do to remedy this? I prefer to not use [TestCleanUp()] as that is run after each test. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know [TestCleanup()] aids in decoupling, but I really prefer the [ClassCleanup()] in this situation.     Is there anyway to disallow publishing Debug builds when publishing ClickOnce aplications using Visual Studio 2008? I know this was asked before, but i can't figure out how from the answer. THe Accepted answer for previous question was: One thing you can do is add a condition to the .csproj or .vbproj file that MSBuild will check when doing a build. The condition would check if a publish is occurring and check if the build is a debug build, then do something like run an external tool or otherwise interrupt the build process or cause it to fail. Could anyone elaborate on that answer or tell me where/or how I can add this condition.     I posted a question a few months ago about sharing resource dictionaries across assemblies. It turns out you can do that using the Component Resource Key markup extension. At the time, I could only get it working with a WPF Custom Control project, not with a plain Class Library project. Now I need to use an existing plain Class Library project to host a shared resource dictionary. That means I need to retrofit the Class Library project to support the Component Resource Key markup extension. I have added a Themes folder and a Generic.xaml resource dictionary document to the Class Library project, as well as references to PresentationCore, PresentationFramework, and WindowsBase. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to do the trick. So, here is my question: Other than the above, what does a WPF Custom Control Library project have that a plain Class Library project doesn't? Or, to put it another way, what else could I add to my class library project to get this feature working? Thanks.

I have an HTML page that loads two different SWF files. is there a way to dispatch a custom event from one flex application to another ? to create a custom event I extend the Event class and I add another variable to the constructor called params which is an Object. I use EventDispatcher to dispatch the events. I have no idea how to do that between one flex application to the other. is it even possible ? If it's not, is there any other way that these two flex applications can communicate without opening a LocalConnection ? Using flex 4.5 thanks!

  • How can I call a method on a custom object created in JavaScript using C#?

    I have a WebBrowser control. I have added some JavaScript into the head tag and I can see it is working as expected by adding an alert. Inside of this js I am creating a function and adding some members to it's prototype like so: function test() { } test.prototype.run = function() { alert('success!') } function createTest() { return new test() } Then back inside of C# I am doing: dynamic test = this.browser.InvokeScript("createTest"); test.run(); I can see that the test object is some ComObject but when I call run() nothing happens. I get no error but nothing happens. Does anyone know how to call this type of custom object? Also suppose I wanted to get rid of the createTest() method, how can I create a new instance of test from C#? Also, for bonus points, is there anything special I need to know about attaching events to this custom object (on say a 'complete' member) such that it will callback into my C# code?

  • How do I hide my custom Unity panel indicators from another user account on the same machine?

    I created a second user account on my machine, making it a "standard" user account. When I log into that account, most of the panel indicators I've added in my own administrator user account show up here as well -- but not all of them (e.g., the cpufreq indicator shows up in both accounts, but the multiload indicator does not show up in the second account). I'd like to prevent everything but the default panel indicators from a fresh Ubuntu install showing up in the second user's panel.

    I have a listview with custom rows and that extends SimpleAdapter. Each row consist of two linear layouts : 1st having two textviews of which one is hidden in horizontal orientation, second having two textviews in horizontal orientation. Now depending on the value in hidden textview , I want to setcolor for the remaining items for the row. To put it as simple: each listview item has some custom colors the value of which comes from the hidden field. I have done this by overriding getview() for the simpleadapter and returning view for each, but this makes list very slow to render (and that I think is obvious as so much of work for each view before showing it). Can I do this in some more efficient way ? like making views and then add up to list instead of using xml layout maybe one solution OR any other ? Any help ? Thanks.

I've succeeded in drawing the cell in the view (which is straightforward), but making it editable seems to require a more complicated coordination between the view and the cell. Is there sample code available somewhere? Update. I should have made clear that my longer-term goal is to have many more editable text areas on the same view. AFAIU it is better to use cells in that case as they are more light-weight than full-blown views. My updated question is: What's the minimum implementation needed to make a custom NSView with an editable text area using an appropriate NSCell?

    I was reading the static maps API, and it says you can include a custom marker in the GET params. You simply link to an image file. I now have a second Google Map within an iframe, and was wondering if you can attach custom markers via the GET params to it?     It seems like for years they've just been given default styling and inline display. Is there a spec somewhere that has dictated this? I've looked over the RFC's but I'm not particularly good with RFC-ese, and I didn't notice anything anywhere. For example <body> Some content <mycustomtag>something else</mycustomtag> more content. </body> I can still style it with CSS, and the browser doesn't outright vomit... so it seems like there is some sort of expected behavior. Was that dictated by a specification?

    I have a datagridview in which one column contains a custom class, which I have set using: dgvPeriods.Columns[1].ValueType = typeof(ExDateTime); It is rigged up to display correctly by handling the CellFormatting event, but I'm unsure what event to handle for cell editing. In the absence of doing anything I get a FormatException as the datagridview tries to convert String to ExDateTime as I try to move focus out of the edited cell. I tried adding type conversion to my ExDateTime custom class: public static implicit operator ExDateTime(string b) { return new ExDateTime(b); } But this this didn't work. I also tried handling the DataError event, but this seems to fire too late. The datagridview is not databound.

There's a solution for how to acheive that if the integer represents a count/average/etc of some DB field, which is not the case for me.
