  • Spring/Hibernate/Junit example of testing DAO against HSQLDB

    Hi guys, I'm working on trying to implement a JUnit test to check the functionality of a DAO. (The DAO will create/read a basic object/table relationship in HSQLDB). The trouble I'm having is the persistence of the DAO (for the non-test code) is being completed through an in-house solution using Spring/Hibernate, which eliminates the usual *.hbm.xml templates that most examples I have found contain. Beacuse of this, I'm having some trouble understanding how to setup a JUnit test to implement the DAO to create/read (just very basic funtionality) to an in-memory HSQLDB. I have found a few examples, but the usage of the in-house persistence means I can't extend some of the classes the examples show (I can't seem to get the application-context.xml setup properly). Can anyone suggest any projects/examples I could take a look at (or any documentation) to further my understanding of the best way to implement this test functionality? I feel like this should be really simple, but I keep running into problems implementing the examples I have found. Thanks in advance!

    Hey I have a problem getting my head around how custom GWT event Handlers work. I have read quite a bit about the topic and it still is some what foggy. I have read threads here on Stackoverflow like this one http://stackoverflow.com/questions/998621/gwt-custom-event-handler.Could someone explain it in an applied mannar such as the following. I have 2 classes a block and a man class. When the man collides with the block the man fires an event ( onCollision() ) and then the block class listens for that event. Thanks

  • Processing potentially large STDIN data, more than once

    I'd like to provide an accessor on a class that provides an NSInputStream for STDIN, which may be several hundred megabytes (or gigabytes, though unlikely, perhaps) of data. When I caller gets this NSInputStream it should be able to read from it without worrying about exhausting the data it contains. In other words, another block of code may request the NSInputStream and will expect to be able to read from it. Without first copying all of the data into an NSData object which (I assume) would cause memory exhaustion, what are my options for handling this? The returned NSInputStream does not have to be the same instance, it simply needs to provide the same data. The best I can come up with right now is to copy STDIN to a temporary file and then return NSInputStream instances using that file. Is this pretty much the only way to handle it? Is there anything I should be cautious of if I go the temporary file route?

I am also writing the LogWriter module. In this caase i am mapping the whole file to the memory using mmap(). I am maintaining the Read and Write pointers.I want to write the log to the file in append mode. Then when logger service is started first time it writes it appends the logs. But when system gets shutdown next time when i run the service it doesn't append the data at the end. I want to maintain the write and read offsets even if system shut down.How to achieve this ..? How to find the how much data is written to the log file. ??

  • IE form input data disappear after browser refresh

    Hi, I'm trying to achieve sticky forms without PHP. My setup is AJAX like javascript. The back/forward work fine on both IE and FF, but refresh only works on FF, not IE. Doesn't matter what cache options I use, I've even set IE's temporary files option to never check for updates, and the input value is gone after page refresh(the refresh button or F5) I've read many posts where people have the opposite problem, and do not want form data to persist across page refresh, and never read from browser cache, but I do. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  • C# streamreader, delimiter problem.

    What I have is a txt file that is huge, 60MB. I need to read each line and produce a file, split based on a delimiter. I'm having no issue reading the file or producing the file, my complication comes from the delimiter, it can't see the delimiter.     In the pickle module documentation there is a snippet of example code: reader = pickle.load(open('save.p', 'rb')) which upon first read looked like it would allocate a system file descriptor, read its contents and then "leak" the open descriptor for there isn't any handle accessible to call close() upon. This got me wondering if there was any hidden magic that takes care of this case. Diving into the source, I found in Modules/_fileio.c that file descriptors are closed by the fileio_dealloc() destructor which led to the real question. What is the duration of the file object returned by the example code above? After that statement executes does the object indeed become unreferenced and therefore will the fd be subject to a real close(2) call at some future garbage collection sweep? If so, is the example line good practice, or should one not count on the fd being released thus risking kernel per-process descriptor table exhaustion?

  • Can Stopwatch be used in production code?

    Hi, I need an accurate timer, and DateTime.Now seems not accurate enough. From the descriptions I read, System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch seems to be exactly what I want. But I have a phobia. I'm nervous about using anything from System.Diagnostics in actual production code. (I use it extensively for debugging with Asserts and PrintLns etc, but never yet for production stuff.) I'm not merely trying to use a timer to benchmark my functions - my app needs an actual timer. I've read on another forum that System.Diagnostics.StopWatch is only for benchmarking, and shouldn't be used in retail code, though there was no reason given. Is this correct, or am I (and whoever posted that advice) being too closed minded about System.Diagnostics? ie, is it ok to use System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch in production code? Thanks Adrian

  • How can I install ruby on rails with rvm?

    I've been searching around on how to install it through the terminal on my mac. I'm using snow leopard. When I use the command: rvm install 1.9.3 I've also followed the other procedures that led me up to this to install, right now the current version is 1.8.3 Error running './configure --prefix="/Users/jose/.rvm/usr" ', please read /Users/jose/.rvm/log/ruby-1.9.3-p125/yaml/configure.log Then it mentions something about xcode and autoreconf was not found in the PATH. Error running 'patch -F 25 -p1 -N -f <"/Users/jose/.rvm/patches/ruby/1.9.3/p125/xcode-debugopt-fix-e34840.diff"',please read /Users/jose/.rvm/log/ruby-1.9.3-p125/patch.apply.xcode-debugopt-fix-r34840.log rvm requires autoreconf to install the selected ruby interpreter however autoreconf was not found in the PATH I been trying for awhile now, and found out i need to have Xcode for snow leopard which I cannot find. So my last option will be to upgrade to lion but I don't know about upgrading. Kind of scared to upgrade and everything becomes buggy.

SELECT table_schema "Data Base Name", -> sum( data_length + index_length ) / 1024 / -> 1024 "Data Base Size in MB", -> sum( data_free )/ 1024 / 1024 "Free Space in MB" -> FROM information_schema.TABLES -> GROUP BY table_schema ; +--------------------+----------------------+------------------+ | Data Base Name | Data Base Size in MB | Free Space in MB | +--------------------+----------------------+------------------+ | database_name | 1959.73437500 | 31080.00000000 | My questions are: Does it mean if I set the innodb_buffer_pool_size to 2GB or larger, the whole database can be loaded into memory so much fewer read from disk requests are needed? What does the free space of 31GB mean? If the maximum RAM can be allocated to innodb_buffer_pool_size is 1GB, is it possible to specify which tables to loaded into memory while keep others always read from disk? Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys, Know this might be rather basic, but I been trying to figure out how to one after create a dynamic array such as double* data = new double[size]; be used as a source of data to be kept in to a binary file such as ofstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.write(reinterpret_cast<const char *> (data),size*sizeof(double)); When I finish writing, I attempt to read the file through double* data = new double[size]; ifstream fs("data.bin",ios:binary"); fs.read(reinterpret_cast<char*> (data),size*sizeof(double)); However I seem to encounter a run time error when reading the data. Do you guys have any advice how i should attempt to write a dynamic array using pointers passed from other methods to be stored in binary files?

Not a war file. Is JBoss looking for a war file? Or will it grok a war directory?

  • Parameterized SQL statements vs. very simple method

    When I started to write the first SQL-Statements in my programs I felt quite comfortable with protecting myself against SQL-Injection with a very simple method that a colleague showed me. It replaced all single quotes with two single quotes. So for example there is a searchfield in which you can enter a customername to search in the customertable. If you would enter Peter's Barbershop The SELECT Statement would look like SELECT * FROM Customers WHERE Customername = 'Peter''s Barbershop' If now an attacker would insert this: ';DROP TABLE FOO; -- The statement would look like: SELECT * FROM Customers WHERE Customername = ''';DROP TABLE FOO;--' It would not drop any table, but search the customertable for the customername ';DROP TABLE FOO;-- which, I suppose, won't be found ;-) Now after a while of writing statements and protecting myself against SQL-Injection with this method, I read that many developers use parameterized statements, but I never read an article where "our" method was used. So definitely there is a good reason for it. What scenarios would parameterized statements cover but our method doesn't? What are the advantages of parameterized statements compared to our method?     Hi all, Recently we had an encoding problem in our system : If we had the string "æ" in our db ,it became "æ" on our web pages. Now this problem is solved, but the problem is that now we have a lot of "æ" in our database : users didn't see and validate pre-filled form with these characters. I found that If you read in utf 8 C3A6 you'll get "æ", if you read it in ascii you'll get "æ". It's strange because if I execute "select convert(varbinary(40),N'æ'),convert(varbinary(40),'æ')" I don't have the same result... Do you have any idea on how I can fix my database (ie change all "æ" to "æ") ? thx

If I call read() on the file-type object returned by ZipFile.open() I can use cPickle.loads though.     Simply put, if you try to read the value of a get variable, what happens if said variable had not be put into the URL. Example: you request the page test.php, in that file it tries to read the value of $_GET['message']. What happens in this case? dose the value just get returned as ''? Dose this mean, that if I am always expecting a value to be entered, and am not willing to accept a value of '' that I can just do something like $foo = $_GET['bar']; if($foo == ''){ // Handle my 'error' } else { // $foo should now have a value that I can work with } Please bare in mind I know that I could use isset($_GET['bar']) But I don't just want to know if it is set, I don't care if it is or not, I just care if it has a value that is more then just an empty string.

    My case: MVVM ListView+Details(custom UserControl) List bound to MV.Items (IsSynchronizedWithCurrent=true) Details bound to MV.Items.Current MV.Items.Count == 100 about 0.2sec to read details (lazy mode) When I hold the down arrow on the list, very strange things happen: list items order change current changes in the random order CPU usage drastically increments and eventually all hangs. I've read some post that one should start the timer or run handler in the background, but I am not able to do that, since all the binding WPF does for me. Is there some way to instruct the binding in my DetailsControl, to wait a while before accepting CurrentItem? Or should I just resign from the clean solution and write custom code in my MV to handle that?
