• Conky graph frozen in time

  Is it possible to plot a graph in conky? Give a function a set of values 0-100 and conky plots a graph similar to execgraph? What I want is to visualize how a variable changed in last week. For example, I'd like to make a graph of gold prices in last 14 days. One way I could do that is use "execigraph 86400 python fetch_price_of_gold.py" and keep my box up 24/7 and eventually I'd get a nice graph. But, unfortunately my box isn't up 24/7. Not to mention I'd have to wait 14 days after every reboot ;-) So, any other ideas? :-)

• My HttpHandler doesn't want to create directory on a network

  I use this simple line of code inside my HttpHandler: Directory.CreateDirectory(@"\\srv-001\dev\folderToCreate\"); I receive an UnauthoridezAccessException telling me that the access to the path is denied. From here, I create a little Dos application in C# doing the same thing and I was able to create the folder. So, I thought that it might be that IIS is running on a different user than myself. I went to IIS and changed the Application pool to a Custom user, myself. But, unfortunately, I got the same exception. I have try to create a Share folder on my computer and I can create directory. Also, when debugging I can see that System.Threading.Thread.CurrentPrincipal.Identity have its AuthenticationType to "", IsAuthenticated to false and name to "". So, with all those tests I can conclude that the HttpHandler that receive the file cannot create a directory because of some security access. How can I grand access to my HttpHandler to be able to create a directory (and files) to a network folder?

• Web Service URL change is not recognized

  I deployed in a production environment a .net solution that consumes a web service added as "Service reference" in visual studio. Today the endpoint URL has changed, and I modified that URL in web.config. But when I run the solution I get the error: System.ServiceModel.FaultException: Server did not recognize the value of HTTP Header SOAPAction: http://93.62.150.200/LogEvent. Now that sound strange to me. As you can see, the IP is 93.62.... but the new value is different. The web.config entry (with the new value or the URL) is: <client> <endpoint address="http://213.92.50.215/sawfc/WS_SAWFC_Int.asmx" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="wsSAWFCInterfaceSoap" contract="it.datasphere.ws.wsSAWFCInterfaceSoap" name="wsSAWFCInterfaceSoap" /> </client> I cannot reach the new web service from dev environment, so I cannot modify the Service reference there. • Android AlertDialog with dynamically changing text on every request

  I want to show an AlertDialog with one option that might change on every request. So for example at one time I want to show the option "add to contacts" while another time it should be "remove from contacts". My code does work on the first time, however Android seems to cache the AlertDialog so that onCreateDialog is not executed next time. Therefore the option doesnt change anymore. Can I prevent this caching, or is there just another way of changing the option? I am working with SDK 1.5 but using 1.1. @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(final int id) { ... • jQuery change selected option's background on change of selected item

  I have a routine that dynamically changes a select list's "selected" option when the corresponding image from a carousel widget is clicked (it's a wordpress template selector). I'd just like to add a flash of background color, then fade to white, to give the user a visual cue that they've just changed the value of the template chooser select list. I've attempted at it below to assign the className "mySelectedOption" to the selected option, but its not working. • NSScrollView jumping to bottom on scroll

  I have an NSScrollView containing an NSImageView, which resizes based on various factors. When it resizes I have generally changed the image, so I scroll the NSScrollView to the top. This works fine. However, when I start to scroll the NSScrollView again, it moves a few pixels and then (most of the time) jumps to the bottom of the scroll. After it jumps once, it works as normal until I move the scroller to the top again. This is driving me insane. • How do I get real integer overflows in MATLAB/Octave?

  I'm working on a verification-tool for some VHDL-Code in MATLAB/Octave. Therefore I need data types which generate "real" overflows: intmax('int32') + 1 ans = -2147483648 Later on, it would be helpful if I can define the bit width of a variable, but that is not so important right now. When I build a C-like example, where a variable gets increased until it's smaller than zero, it spins forever and ever: test = int32(2^30); while (test > 0) test = test + int32(1); end Another approach I tried was a custom "overflow"-routine which was called every time after a number is changed. This approach was painfully slow, not practicable and not working in all cases at all. Any suggestions?

• Typesetting a large matrix in LaTeX

  I have a 3x12 matrix I'd like to input into my LaTeX (with amsmath) document but LaTeX seems to choke when the matrix gets larger then 3x10: \begin{equation} \textbf{e} = \begin{bmatrix} 1&1&1&1&0&0&0&0&-1&-1&-1&-1\\ 1&-1&0&0&1&1&-1&-1&0&0&1&-1\\ 0&0&1&-1&1&-1&1&-1&1&-1&0&0 \end{bmatrix} \end{equation} The error: Extra alignment tab has been changed to \cr. tells me that I have more & then the bmatrix environment can handle. Is there a proper way to handle this? Also it seems that the alignment for 1's and the -1's are different, is that also expected of the bmatrix?

  I'm using a library which for one certain feature involves variables like so: extern const u8 foo[]; extern const u8 bar[]; I am not allowed to rename these variables in any way. However, I like to be able to access these variables through an array (or other similar method) so that I do not need to continually hardcode new instances of these variables into my main code. My first attempt at creating an array is as follows: const u8* pl[] = { &foo, &bar }; This gave me the error cannot convert 'const u8 (*)[]' to 'const u8*' in initialization, and with help elsewhere along with some Googling, I changed my array to this: u8 (*pl)[] = { &foo, &bar }; Upon compiling I now get the error scalar object 'pl' requires one element in initializer. Does anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

• TomTom integration does not work anymore?

  I did for 6 months back an integration for TomTom navigation with URL Scheme. This worked out great, but then TomTom updated their iPhone app to version 1.10. Since then the integration does not work. Anyone tried the same? • django internationalization and translations problem

  I have a problem with django translations. Problem 1 - i updated string in django.po file, but the change does not appear on the webpage. Problem 2 - i have created my own locale file with django-admin.py makemessages -l et, added the translation string into file, but they too do not appear on the page. I do not think this is setting problem, because the translations from django.po file do appear on the website, its just the changes and the translations from my own generated file that do not appear. Edit: My settings.py contains this: gettext = lambda s: s LANGUAGE_CODE = 'et' LANGUAGES = ( ('et', gettext('Estonian')), ) my own locale files are in /path/to/project/locale/et/LC_MESSAGES/ and the files are django.mo and django.po the file i refer to in problem 1 is django own et transaltion, which i changed.

• ExpectedException on TestMethod Visual Studio 2010

  Today I upgraded my solution with all the underlying projects from VS2008 to VS2010. Everything went well except for my unit tests. First of all only the web projects had as target framework .NET 4. All the other projects still had .NET 3.5. I changed them all to .NET 4. Now when I debug my unit tests it breaks on every exception. In 2008 it just wouldn't pass and tell me that an exception occurred. Even when I have the ExpectedException attribute defined it stops debugging on every exception. And example of one of my tests: [TestMethod] [ExpectedException(typeof(EntityDoesNotExistException))] public void ConstructorTest() { AddressType type = new AddressType(int.MaxValue); } The EntityDoesNotExistException is a custom exception and inherits Exception.

• Flash AS3 Coloring Book - Movieclip only clickable in certain spots (Event Listeners)

  I am working on a coloring book and have a movieclip (outlines) containing many movieclips that can be changed to whatever color the user has selected. However it seems like some of the movieclips can be clicked anywhere and work great, and others you need to click a certain spot for it to color in. I have an example here: http://jeffkilroy.com/hosted/softee/coloring.html Notice the three sections of the icecream (top, middle, bottom). The middle is clickable from anywhere inside the movieclip, however the top and especially bottom require you to click on specific spots in order for you to activate the event listener. Not sure if it is a depth issue because I would assume if that is the case it would activate at least a different movieclip but it just seems nothing happens at all. • Cloned Cached item has memory issues

  Hi there, we are having values stored in Cache-Enterprise library Caching Block. The accessors of the cached item, which is a List, modify the values. We didnt want the Cached Items to get affected. Hence first we returned a new List(IEnumerator of the CachedItem) This made sure accessors adding and removing items had little effect on the original Cached item. But we found, all the instances of the List we returned to accessors were ALIVE! Object relational Graph showed a relationship between this list and the EnterpriseLibrary.CacheItem. So we changed the return to be a newly cloned List. For this we used a LINQ say (from item in Data select new DataClass(item) ).ToList() even when you do as above, the ORG shows there is a relationship between this list and the CacheItem. Cant we do anything to create a CLONE of the List item which is present in the Enterprise library cache, which DOESNT have ANY relationship with CACHE?!

I am talking about anywhere between 5000-15000 concurrent users, need to get data every time a currency is changed so that means lots of changes for lots of users. I have been looking into WebOrb.net, but the performance seem very poor (100 users concurrent) for a product so pricy (we purchased a license). So, I have to look into alternatives, I know there's fluorineFx but it seems no one is really using it for products and it lacks in examples and documentation. • Smooth mousover images inside scaled Flex App?

  I have a flex app I am scaling using systemManager.stage.scaleMode=StageScaleMode.NO_BORDER; for the most part it works well except for my bitmap data (mostly png's from the designers). I can set the mx:image tags to smoothBitmapContent=true and that works great for everything except my mouseover objects. When I do a mouseover, the source is being changed from one embedded image to another embedded image. I have tried several (many) online "smoothimage" classes, and tried to write my own, I have tried to reset smoothBitmapContent every chance I get but still no dice. It seems to mee that because I am scaling at the app level, that the flopped out bitmap is not getting smoothed when it renders. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep things smooth (perhaps there is a flag to tell Flex to smooth stuff when it scales it?). Thanks Josh

Surprisingly, I find that the most challenging task is to keep my website up & running. My site is being hacked again and again no matter what I do - I blocked the FTP connections, changed the Joomla (CMS) database table names, installed all latest patches and what not. The web site supports the product (over 1800 users now...) by generating licenses, support forums, documentation, galleries etc. The product which is a winforms application cannot be marketed without this web site. • PHP: form action on same page, still show same until refresh

  Yes, Im having a little edit profile page, index.php?mode=profile. Lets take the username in the editprofile form as example. The username is already in the username-field. So i changed from "Peter" to "Tom" and press save. The action is ?mode=profile&edit=true. So now when i have pressed save it has updated the column in the db from Peter to Tom. But this field keeps having the value "Peter" until if i do press refresh (or f5), then "Tom" will appear. Like it hasnt updated in the database anything, although it did but it still shows Peter until next refresh.. like it caches, but it shouldnt cache nothing? Any help on this? Is it because its on the same "page" / file? what can i do

• Is it possible to have CommandManager requery only specific WPF command instead of all?

  I'm trying to implement a highly responsive UI for my MVVM application, so I've chosen to have all command handlers automatically execute in a BackgroundWorker so they don't block the UI. But at the same time, I don't want the user to be able to execute the same command while it is still executing in the background. The solution seems obvious: When Executed handler is invoked, have the CanExecute handler return false Start the BackgroundWorker async When BackgroundWorker finishes, have the CanExecute handler return true again. Problem is, I need to notify WPF after step 1 and again after step 3 that CanExecute has changed and that it should be required. I know I can do it by calling CommandManager.InvalidateRequerySuggested, but that causes CanExecute handlers of all other commands to be requeried as well. Having a lot of commands, that's not good. Is there a way to ask for requery of a specific command - i.e. the one that is currently being executed? TIA

• Naming convention for the primary key in a Table

  Hi all, I am learning the Model relationship types in cakephp. I have built twotables and in one of the Table A, I got these fields in it: Table A {postID, topic, content} Table B {replyID, content, postID} And when I ran the web page, a bunch of error related to SQL popped up saying that cakephp couldn't find post_id. It is weird that I have already declared the $primaryKey to be using postID in the tableA.php under Models folder, but cakephp seemed want me to change the ID field to post_id instead of postID, because the error disappeared after I have changed the primaryKey to post_id. ANy ideas?
