    Hi, I need to have ability to stealthfully access, view, and control a few dozen PC's on my company's network. I would need a control panel window, so I can instantly connect to any of the users. Please recommend a secure solution, that will not make us vulnerable to viruses and hackers.     Part of my SPF record contains: include:google.com I'm still getting soft fail because the actual e-mail is delivered by the following Received: from mail-yx0-f172.google.com (mail-yx0-f172.google.com [209.85.213.172] Which has a completely different IP from google.com. However I don't want to put in mail-yx0-f172.google.com because it might be dynamic. Is there some equivalent of *.google.com that I can use in the record

    A friend asked me this: ...I stopped using KeyNote for one simple reason – contrary to the Mac marketing blurb, the final presentations do NOT work fine on Windows PCs – they look distorted and have formatting quirks which cannot be corrected because the Windows/Powerpoint file it has supposedly been saved as is in fact a non-editable file, kind of like a pdf. Is there a way to create Mac KeyNote presentation files so they look nice on Windows and can be edited?

I have dynamic ip address setup All the time after system bootup, I need to do the following command to make mtu setting take effect. sudo ifconfig eth0 mtu 1492 Are there any way I can set it up using startup program. I have come across a Windows XP machine that is sending unwanted p2p traffic. I have done a 'netstat -b' command and explorer.exe is sending out the traffic. When I kill this process the traffic stops and obviously Windows Explorer dies. Here is the header of the stream from the Wireshark dump (x.x.x.x) is the machines IP. I have looked in Windows firewall and it shouldn't be letting this traffic through. I have had a look into the messages explorer.exe is sending in Spy++ and the only related ones I can see are socket connections etc... My question is what can I do to look into this deeper? What does malware achieve by sending p2p traffic? I know to fix the problem the easiest way is to reinstall Windows but I want to get to the bottom of it first, just out of interest. Edit: Had a look at Deoendency Walker and Process Explorer. Both great tools. We are developing a product in partnership with another company, and we need to create a database server for the product we'll release. I have been using Amazon Web Services for the past 3 years, but this is the first time I received a spec with this very specific hardware configuration. I know there are trade-offs and that real hardware will always be faster than virtual machines, and knowing that fact forehand, what would you recommend? 1) Amazon EC2? 2) Amazon RDS? 3) Something else? 4) Forget it baby, stick to the real hardware Here is the hardware requirements This server will be focused on I/O and MySQL for the statistics, memory size and disk space for the images hosting. Server 1 I/O The very main part on this server will be I/O processing, FusionIO cards have proven themselves extremely efficient, this is currently the best you can have in this domain. o Fusion ioDrive2 MLC 365GB (http://www.fusionio.com/load/-media-/1m66wu/docsLibrary/FIO_ioDrive2_Datasheet.pdf) CPU MySQL will use less CPU cores than Apache but it will use them very hard, the E7 family has 30M Cache L3 wichi provide boost performance : o 1x Intel E7-2870 will be ok. Storage SAS will be good enough in terms of performance, especially considering the space required. o RAID 10 of 4 x SAS 10k or 15k for a total available space of 512 GB. Memory o 64 GB minimum is required on this server considering the size of the statistics database.   • Microphones not working on Apple macbook Air 1,1 (Early 2008) under Linux

    I'm running Linux on an mba. I can't make the microphones (neither external nor internal) work. I test using alsamixer and arecord -d 5 test-mic.waw together with aplay test-mic.waw It seems there is a problem with kernel trying to decipher Apple (intentionally) corrupted 'bios', in particular the mic pins are wrongly assigned. As far as we are concerned here, is there any difference between using EFI and BIOS-compatibility mode? (see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MacBook where they claim to have everything working out of the box on mba1,1) A nice proposal would be to compile the latest Linux kernel and run hda-jack-retask to find the right configuration (in the case of Realtek codec, the missing things I'm supposed to check are either some vendor-specific COEF verbs, EAPD or GPIO setup.), and then come up with a kernel patch to address the issue. Since I'm not that familiar with this last part of the story, can anyone help me through this process?   • compile Passenger statically into Apache httpd?

    I prefer to disable httpd dynamic module loading on my production server. I've been using mod_jk linked statically into httpd for quite a long time and it proved to be stable. Now I would like to add Ruby Passenger (mod_rails/mod_rack) to my httpd. I wonder if it is possible to link it statically into Apache httpd the same way too? (without producing a huge httpd) If it is, are there any potential pitfalls, safety or performance concerns having both mod_jk and mod_rails within the same executable? Thanks

  • Win'08 - Extend volume size on SAN attached storage in a failover cluster

    Running Win 2008, I'd like to extend the volume of a SAN attached drive that is part of a failover cluster. The SAN team has allocated additional drive space which is being seen by Windows Storage Manager. However, the option to "Extend Volume" is disabled, so is the ability to turn it into a dynamic disk. Is the ability to extend volumes when part of a failover cluster disabled or not available when it's part of SAN attached storage?

  • Add Mirror for volumes other than the last one in Windows 7 (disk "not up-to-date")

    I'm using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I have an existing 4TB disk with 3 NTFS volumes, a new 3TB blank disk, and I'm trying to mirror the volumes onto the new disk. My Windows install is on an SSD which is Disk 0. The 4TB disk with volumes is Disk 1, and the new blank disk is Disk 2. I can add a mirror successfully for the last volume, but when I try to add a mirror for the first volume I immediately get errors (see below). Is there something I special I need to do to add a mirror for a volume other than the last one? More info: I opened Disk Management, right-clicked on the first volume on the existing disk, went to Add Mirror, and selected the new disk. The first time I did this I was prompted to convert the new disk to a Dynamic Disk, which I approved. Subsequently I got a message: The operation failed to complete because the Disk Management console view is not up-to-date. Refresh the view by using the refresh task. If the problem persists close the Disk Management console, then restart Disk Management or restart the computer. I've refreshed disk management, restarted the computer, and converted the new disk to basic and back to dynamic, but I still get that error message. Looking around for suggestions of a workaround, I saw a suggestion to use the diskpart command line tool. Running diskpart from the Start Menu as Administrator, I did select volume 2 (the first volume I want to mirror) and then add disk 2 (the new disk), and received a somewhat similar error: Virtual Disk Service error: The disk's extent information is corrupted. DiskPart has referenced an object which is not up-to-date. Refresh the object by using the RESCAN command. If the problem persists exit DiskPart, then restart DiskPart or restart the computer. A rescan appears to be successful: DISKPART> select disk 2 Disk 2 is now the selected disk. DISKPART> rescan Please wait while DiskPart scans your configuration... DiskPart has finished scanning your configuration. but attempting to add the mirror again resulted in the same error. The only similar report I found online was this: http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/335780-unable-mirror-all-but-last-partition-drive.html Based on that I attempted to mirror the last volume on the disk to the new disk using diskpart, and that started successfully -- it is currently resynchronizing. More Background: In the course of dealing with a failing 3TB hard drive, I bought a replacement 4TB drive and installed it, then copied the partitions from the failing drive to it using Minitool Partition Wizard Home, and then removed the failing drive and was up and running again normally. Now I've received a warranty replacement for the failing drive, and installed it, and now I'm attempting to mirror my partitions to it.
