  • Launching applications on remote windows xp from ubuntu 10.04 machine

    I have ubuntu 10.04 installed on my machine. I want to execute commands on remote windows xp machine ( I have username and password of admin account of remote machine ) so as to launch application like Internet Explorer, Notepad or some bat script. Is there any command line utility to do this via ubuntu? I tried rdesktop, winexe, ssh, telnet but they are not much of use. Can you please suggest some other way?

The question is visible in the preview and when tested (testing was completed eight times). The browser is internet explorer.     I use a large (millions) entries hashmap to cache values needed by an algorithm, the key is a combination of two objects as a long. Since it grows continuously (because keys in the map changes, so old ones are not needed anymore) it would be nice to be able to force wiping all the data contained in it and start again during the execution, is there a way to do effectively in Java? I mean release the associated memory (about 1-1.5gb of hashmap) and restart from the empty hashmap..

If so - what kind of "Stream" reader should I use? I have also read something about "intents" - is this something that is applicable here?     Hi everyone, I am working using richfaces 3.3.3 , tomcat 6. when i try to access my application using IE6 and the windows language is set to arabic, i get the following exception: IllegalArgumentException: Parameter "size" for convert from HTML to java can not be decoded: [1px], reason: Unparseable number: "1px". when i change the windows language back to english, restart the server and try to log in again everything works fine.. Can anybody please help me with this issue

    Hello, I'm using the WebDevHelper toolbar for Internet Explorer to troubleshoot HTTP requests/roundtrips on my SSL site and noticed that IE re-downloads my CSS :hover images every time they are triggered. This causes a huge amount of roundtrips. How can I prevent this from happening? Edit: All static content is served with cache-control: public, so images, javascript etc. are cached in Firefox and Chrome. This problem is IE specific.

    I right clicked on a Database in the object explorer of SQL Server 2008 Management Studio. I went to Tasks Import Data, and imported some data from a flat text file, opting to save the package on the server. Now how the heck do I get to the package to edit or run it again? Where in SQL Server Management Studio do I go? I've expanded everything and I can't find it. It's driving me nuts.

    Hi, I have a small issue with jQuery on Safari (Mac OSX 10.6) - the page loads fine under Firefox (Mac) and Internet Explorer (Win) but has to be refreshed to work properly in Safari... http://7souls.co.uk/store/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29788 If you hover over the image it is meant to show a magnified version to the right hand side - which works on the first page load on all browsers except Safari on the Mac. You have to refresh the page to get it to work under safari. Any Ideas, MM

    For Data Explorer I would like to add support for a Batch separator. So for example if users type in: select 'GO' go select 1 as go Go select 100 I would like to return the three result sets. Its clear that I need some sort of parser here, my hope is that this is a solved problem and I can just plug it in. (writing a full T-SQL parser is not something I would like to do) What component / demo code could achieve splitting this batch into its 3 parts?

    What do I have to do to disable all system pop-ups in WinCE 6 R2? I read Mike Hall's post about Kiosk mode [1] but that's not going to work for us because we still want the standard graphical Explorer shell.   • ASP.NET MVC Project and the App_Code folder

    How come App_Code is not a choices in the Add ASP.NET Folder submenu in the VS solution explorer? I realize you can create one yourself manually by just renaming a New Folder, but what is the rational here? Is this not where you are supposed to put "utility" or "service layer" type classes? On a MVC project side note. I do like the fact that there is a reference to System.Configuration out-of-the-box unlike the default ASP.NET Web Form Projects.

    In Internet Explorer 7, this code executes consistently in 47 ms: function updateObjectValues() { $('.objects').html(12345678); // ~500 DIVs } however, this code executes consistently in 157 ms: function updateObjectValues() { $('.objects').html('12345678'); // ~500 DIVs } Passing a number is over 3x faster than a string. Why are these results so dramatically different? And, is there any way to help the performance of the string?

    Hi, When i detach wiews in eclipse on ubuntu, eg package explorer, it shows up as a separate window in ubuntu (Eclipse ends up taking up 4 windows, and that makes alt-tabbing through my open programs a pain) Is there a way to fix this so Eclipse only show up as one window in ubuntu no matter how many vews are detached?

    I'm trying to use the sample code here: I went to "Add Reference" dialog and added "Microsoft Word 12 library", but it doesn't appear in the Solution Explorer. I also added: using Microsoft.Office; I get the following error message when trying to declare a "Word" object. Error 1: The type or namespace name 'Word' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Any suggestions on how to properly reference the Word library?
