• Is it possible to preview arbitrary formats in Nautilus?

  I recently found out that Nautilus (Ubuntu 12.04 at least) can show thumbnails of files of non-image formats, for example (data grapher) grace files (.agr) shows a small version of the graph contained in its data. Obviously, there some library or script that is processing the file, making the image, and allowing nautilus to show a small version of it. This made me think that in principle any file that potentially can be processed into an image can serve as a Nautilus thumbnail. For example, a .tex file (which can be converted to .pdf) or a gnuplot script can be displayed as a thumbnail when possible. In the case of .tex file, the correspoding .pdf can be created by the command pdflatex file.tex. The question is, how can I tell Nautilus to create a thumbnail for an arbitrary format and how do I specify the commands to do so within Nautilus?

• Use a template parameter in a preprocessor directive?

  Is it possible to use a non-type constant template parameter in a preprocessor directive? Here's what I have in mind: template <int DING> struct Foo { enum { DOO = DING }; }; template <typename T> struct Blah { void DoIt() { #if (T::Doo & 0x010) // somecode here #endif } }; When I try this with something like Blah<Foo<0xFFFF>>, VC++ 2010 complains something about unmatched parentheses in the line where we are trying to use "#if". I am guessing the preprocessor doesn't really know anything about templates and this sort of thing just isn't in its domain. What say? Thanks!

  I want to have a page display A,B,C,D depending on the return value from XML value (1,2,3,4). My approaches are by javascript or XSLT:choose. I want to know which way is better, and why? • Flex, can't custom style the tooltip

  I'm having trouble changing the font size of my TextInput tooltip. • git init template, replacing modified hooks

  I am constantly updating my local git hooks. I have a repo to house my .git template. This means that I am constantly running git init --template=../git-template to update repos with my hook changes. Problem: Everytime I run git init --temp..., I need to first remove the hooks in .git/hooks that will be replaced with the updated hooks. This is annoying. I know I can script the removal of these hooks from the repo that I want to update, but is this functionality built into git already?

  If I want to know if an object has a particular property I can code this: if (SomeObject.hasOwnProperty('xyz')) { // some code } But some styles masquerade as properties at design time such as Button.color... How can I know what style properties are valid at runtime? ie: What is the equivalent of hasOwnProperty for getStyle/setStyle? In other words how can I know if an object HAS A particular style variable... When I write: MyButton.setStyle('qsfgaeWT','-33'); It won't accomplish anything, but it also doesn't error. How can I know programmatically that 'qsfgaeWT' is NOT a valid style of 'Button'??

• Referencing external javascript vs. hosting my own copy

  Say I have a web app that uses jQuery. Is it better practice to host the necessary javascript files on my own servers along with my website files, or to reference them on jQuery's CDN (example: http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.7.1.min.js)? I can see pros for both sides: If it's on my servers, that's one less external dependency; if jQuery went down or changed their hosting structure or something like that, then my app breaks. But I feel like that won't happen often; there must be lots of small-time sites doing this, and the jQuery team will want to avoid breaking them. If it's on my servers, that's one less external reference that someone could call a security issue If it's referenced externally, then I don't have to worry about the bandwidth to serve the files (though I know it's not that much). If it's referenced externally and I'm deploying this web site to lots of servers that need to have their own copies of all the files, then it's one less file I have to remember to copy/update.

  Hi, ASP.NET MVC web app that exposes "friendly" URLs: http://somesite.com/friendlyurl ...which are rewritten (not redirected) to ASP.NET MVC-style URLs under the hood: http://somesite.com/Controller/Action The user never actually sees any ASP.NET MVC style URLS. If he requests one, we hard 404 it. ASP.NET MVC is (in this app) an implementation detail, not a fundamental interface. My question: how do you examine an arbitrary incoming URL and determine whether or not that URL matches a defined ASP.NET MVC path? For extra credit: how do you do it from inside an ASP.NET-style IHttpModule, where you're getting invoked upstream from the ASP.NET MVC runtime? Thanks!

• Visual Studio 2010 - Export (Project) Template menu option grayed out

  In Visual Studio, I want to make a simple C++ project and export it out as a template, so I can use the template to start new projects to save me time. But the Export Template menu option is always grayed out. I've not once been able to click it. Anyone know why? Anyone know how to accomplish what I need (besides the obvious "make a copy of an existing project in explorer")? It seems like project templates should be a no-brainer feature for VS. This seems to be the case for Visual Studio 2005, 2010 (I probably 2008 as well I haven't checked).

  I am working on my first major (several hundred pages) website design and development project. I want to create subdirectories for each of the website's categories, which in turn have their own subdirectories for easy user navigation. Example: website.com/directory. I am aware that by placing an index.html file within each directory, the browser automatically detects and navigates to that page, but that seems like a messy solution (having multiple index.html files, albeit in distinct folders), and I cannot imagine everyone does that. So my question is...how do you properly organize and use subdirectories?

  I have 'div' element (recaptchaDiv) in knockout template which is not bound to any observable field: <div id="recaptchaDiv"></div> On the other hand, I update this 'div' by 3rd party library. In particular, this is google recaptcha. This is my code: Recaptcha.create("[my private key]", "recaptchaDiv", { theme: "clean", callback: Recaptcha.ToTest }); And it doesn't work (I see nothing). What I know: trying on FF console: $("#recaptchaDiv").html() - it shows the expected html code, I just can't see it in the browser What I tried: to move recaptchaDiv outside of the template and it works: I can see the captcha in the browser to bind recaptchaDiv on html property: in the template: <div id="recaptchaDiv" data-bind="html: recaptcha"></div> in the model: Recaptcha.create("[my private key]", "recaptchaDiv", { theme: "clean", callback: Recaptcha.ToTest }); recaptcha($("#recaptchaDiv").html()); and it doesn't work (replacing jquery on document.getElementById doesn't help) Any help will be very much appreciated!!!   Hi, I am required to create a custom Process Template on using VSTS 2010 Beta 1. Given that I did not use templates in VSTS 2008 I am not even sure where to start. The TFS and VS 2010 are all installed and configured. First I tried to create a test project and selected a built-in template "MSF for Agile Software etc." I wanted to try to modify (customize) it to begin with but was not sure how to do it. • Are there hosted jQuery UI themes anywhere? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Downloading jQuery CSS from Google's CDN I'm using Google-hosted jQuery and jQueryUI, but I'm wondering if there are hosted jQueryUI themes anywhere? I'd like to just point to a hosted CSS file (the same way I do with the hosted JS file), so that I don't have to worry about setting up directories for the widget images or the CSS files or anything like that. Update I've found this, referenced by the jqueryui.com source code: <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/themes/ui-lightness/jquery-ui.css" type="text/css" media="all" /> Substituting the name of other themes from the themeroller page seems to work, but I'd love it if someone could find where on Google they list all the available themes that they are hosting. I'm not finding anything about this (maybe it is very recent?).

• FOSUserBundle: embedding the login form and choosing its template

• Java: file write on finalize method

  In my understanding a singleton object will destroy only when the application is about to terminate. So in C++ I write a Singleton class to log my application and in that Singleton logger's destructor I log the time when my application was terminated. Things worked perfectly in C++. Now I want to have that same logger in Java, as in java there is no destructor so I implemented the finalize method for that singleton logger. But it seem that finalize method actually never get called. So, I add that System.runFinalizersOnExit(true); line, somewhere in my code (though I know it is deprecated) and that finalize method get called every time before termination of the app. But still there is a problem! If I try to write anything on file in that finalize method, It does not work, though System.out work without any problem! :( Can you guys help me on this problem? I would like to have a style defined if a cookie is present. • ucommerce: how to change category template

  Using uCommerce 2, umbraco 4.7. I have a category side nav showing the categories using: <a> <xsl:attribute name="href"> <xsl:value-of select="CommerceLibrary:GetNiceUrlForCategory($catalogueName, @id)"/> </xsl:attribute> <xsl:value-of select="@displayName"/> </a> First of all, when hovering over the links it still shows an old catalogue name, even though I've renamed the catalogue and also hardcoded the catalogue name into: <xsl:variable name="catalogueName" select="'MyCatalogue'"/> When I click on the link generated by GetNiceUrlForCategory I get the standard template that comes with uCommerce started site. I've tried deleting the whole started site, but I just can't get it to link to a template I did for the category. I still don't quite understand how ucommerce knows which template to use for a category link. Soren? :) Cheers, Matt

  Hi, I' m implementing a custom STL map. I need to make sure that any data type (basic or user defined) key will work with it. I declared the Map class as a template which has two parameters for the key and the value. My question is if I need to use a string as the key type, how can I overload the < and operators for string type keys only?? In template specialization we have to specialize the whole class with the type we need as I understand it. Is there any way I can do this in a better way?? What if I add a separate Key class and use it as the template type for Key? Thank You!!
