  • (Why) are IEC C5/C6 connectors a necessity? Why not use C13/C14?

    That's a question I was asking myself the first time I saw such a weird C5 plug. That was a while ago, but I came across it again and haven't found an answer yet. The only thing I could find out is that C5 is with 2.5A and C13 with 10A. But I guess it would technically be no problem building an AC adapter (e.g. for laptops) in which you plug the far more common C13 connector. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEC_connector

    We are building an application where we want anything the following to be SSL: secure.ourapp.com - all pages must be SSL (can this be done with a Vhost in apache?) www.ourapp.com/signup - SSL www.ourapp.com/login - SSL www.ourapp.com/information - NOT SSL So my question is: can you put SSL on some pages and not on others? Or does it only work on a per-subdomain basis? thanks a lot for helping me out

  • How can I set up a dual-site Storage Daemon in Bacula (mirror the backup)

    On site A, I have sucessfully set up a bacula director on one host, several File Daemons on the hosts I want to backup, and finally one Storage Daemon where the backup actually is stored. If disaster struck the building Site A, I want a second Storage Daemon on another site, Site B. The Filesets, Director etc would be the same, except the jobs will be stored on the other Storage Daemon as well. Are there any best practises on this?

    I'm building a Raid array for the first time in my system and I have a question regarding having multiple Raid-1 arrays in a single Win 7 system. I'm a bit of an organizational freak with my data and I currently have two separate hard drives I want to mirror. The new motherboard I'm looking to buy supports Raid, so my questions are: Can I have more than one Raid-1 array in a single system? Would I have to buy a separate controller for the second array?

  • Luns not taken by the windows server admin

    I have a scenario based question...Something , I haven't faced till now ,but i would be interested to know the answer. If i have assigned a luns (say, of 50 GB) and put them in storage group.However, the windows server team did not grab that lun but sent an acknowledgment saying the Luns are alingned. I would like to know what will happen to the Luns that belong to the SG ..in my opinion they will remain in the SG as unassigned Luns ..or is there a possibility that the lUns will move back to the storage.

    have a set up that has server 2003 we are using in our class that will not accept using of the username Jon_B but will work under another bogus name used? also, his partner for his team using the same computer has no problem. is there a use in server 2003 for a command named Jon_B which keeps it from being used as a login username? all other students including myself can login fine into server.

    I am getting the following message when attempting to connect to our company's SVN repository - the same error occurs whether I try from the OSX command line or Eclipse. Any ideas on where to troubleshoot?   • Can I extend my monitors, mouse, keyboard accross a room?

    I am considering building my next PC into a server rack case, the reason is I am getting a server cabinet and will be putting in a few servers in it. It will be in my room where I use my main PC as well and in my case it just makes sense to build my next PC into this cabinet/rack. So my main concern, will I be able to extend my mouse, keyboard, and 2-3 monitors10-15 feet accross a room from my server rack to my desk?

    Corporate has asked us to look for an FTP server solution with paid support. Our team has a preference for open source, and would normally support it ourselves. But the guys at the top want that secure feeling of paying someone to CYA. Soooooo....what kind of options are out there for FTP server that supports FTP, FTPS, SFTP, plus has a web-based front end so people could transfer files that way...that also has the option of paid support?   • IIS, SSL with client certs on web farm

    We're building a web service that will be deployed on an IIS 7.5 farm, and secured through SSL, and also requiring client certs that will be mapped to Active Directory accounts. My understanding is that the server cert needs to be generated for a specific server. If that is the case then we will need a server cert for each server in the farm. Because the farm will be load balanced, how do we generate client certs that will work with any of the servers in the farm?

    I'm looking for a way to set a group of File Types to "Index Properties and File Contents" (Control Panel, Indexing Options, Advanced Options, File Types). Basically I'd like to write a batch file that switches that setting for a large group of file types and be able to share it with my entire team. Clicking in the UI is time consuming for everyone.     We always try to be clever and script everything that we find repetitive but not everything can be automated - what have you found in your career to be just a massive pain? I'll give you mine - building Netware version 2.xx on 5.25" disks with multiple NICs - this often took HOURS of swapping disks, pacing around, swapping disks, more pacing etc. Then finally it would hopefully work - if you'd not set the IRQs/DMAs right you had to start again, wow I loved version 3 which didn't need all that. What about you?

This should NOT apply to our dev team (operating remotely), so we'd want to specify certain IPs that should have access to the under-construction site. How can this be accomplished in IIS 6?
