  I need to make an animated gif 'fly over a page and follow a path. I'm thinking of using jQuery but would I be right in thinking the only way to do it is manually calculating the percentage of width/height where the shape layer should be placed, then using absolute positioning is the only way to do this? I know there are some amazing jQuery plugins available for this type of thing.

• jQuery switchClass

  Is it possible to undo a switchClass transaition? I'd like an element to slowly obtain class A as you hover over it, and slowly lose it again once the mouse has moved away. However, the function appears to be glitchy, and calling .stop(0,1) doesn't seem to help. In fact, it seems to break it. I have a live example here. Yes, it's a 404 page, but that's not important. The navigation should be slowly gaining or losing a class, but it just jumps. The script can be found here. Is such a transition possible?

• How do I stop the scriptaculous blind-down effect from flickering when element has padding?

  Hi all, it seems that when the blind down effect is used on an element with padding it looks a bit awkward. It seems to blind down too far and then jumps back. It's a very subtle thing but is really annoying. I don't have an online example but if you go to the demo on github and give the element a padding-top or bottom with firebug or something you'll see what I mean. http://wiki.github.com/madrobby/scriptaculous/effect-blinddown Anybody found a way to stop it?

• Given n report thumbnails, how do I create a Flex Effect that zooms into the selected report?

  I am worried about performance issues. If I just render all n reports zoomed out, then that will cost me in performance. Even animating a zoomed out report to zoom in, will also cost me in performance because it has to recalculate all the UIComponent's of my report as it transitions from zoomed out to zoomed in-to view. Any solutions/suggestions welcome. Let me know if you need clarification.

  I'm trying to create a slide effect. Everything works fine except when the hideEffect animation is shown for the first time. The content does not become invisible when crossing the TabNavigator's border, which looks really ugly in my current project.   So, I have two divs: #div1 and #div2. I want '#div2' to disappear when '#div1' has the CSS value: top = 0px. Here is the CSS: #div1 { top: 0px; } #div2 { display: block; } if ( $('#div1').css('top') == '0px' ) { $("#div2").hide(); } else { $("div2").fadeIn(); } $("div2").click(function(){ $("#div1").animate({top:"+=315px"}, "slow"); }); The problem I am running into is that I'm changing that CSS value (for #div1) via Javascript and for this reason, my js doesn't acknowledge the change and doesn't make the div disappear (I think). Is there any way to make #div2 disappear when #div1's CSS property top = 0 and reappear whenever it is changed? Or is there a better way to implement this?

• jquery animation problem using stop

  Hi! When running a Jquery animation like slideDown(), it looks like a number of element-specific css properties is set to be updated at a specific interval and when the animation is complete these properties are unset and the display property is simply set to auto or whatever. At least in firebug you can't see those temporary properties any more. The problem I've encountered is the scenario where we stop the slide down with stop(). The element is then left with the current temporary css values. Which is fine because it has to, but let us say that I stoped the slidedown because I have decided to slide it back up again a bit prematurely. It would look something like this: $(this).slideDown(2000) //The below events is not in queue but will rather start execute almost simultaneously as the above line. (dont remember the exact syntax) $(this).delay(1000).stop().slideUp(2000) The above code might not make much sense, but the point is: After 1 second of sliding down the animation is stopped and it starts to slide back up. Works like a charm. BUT!!! And here is the problem. Once it it has slid back up the elements css properties are reset to the exact values it had 1000ms into the slideDown() animation (when stop() was called). If we now try to run the following: $(this).slideDown(2000) It will slide down to the very point the prior slideDown was aborted and not further at half the speed (since it uses the same time for approximately half the height). This is because the css properties were saved as I see it. But it is not especially wished for. Of course I want it to slide all the way down this time. Due to UI interaction that is hard to predict everything might soon break. The longer animations we use increases the risk of something like this happening. Is this to be considered a bug, or am I doing something wrong? Or maybe it's just a feature that is not supported? I guess I can use a callback function to reset the css properties, but depending on the animation used, different css properties are used to render it, and covering your back would result in quite a not-so-fancy solution.

The results are currently using a TileList & itemRenderer to display, and now I'd like to add an animation effect when the user filters their results. I know that you can use the itemsChangeEffect to create an animation effect when the user drags and moves result itmes. So I'd like to know if there's a way to create a similar effect triggered by the filtering on the comboboxes? Thanks.

  Hello, I'm using ImageMagick to resize an image to a smaller size gif. In this process I'm trying to give the image a light effect, not a side-light, just like a shiny look all over. Not a good comparison but for a better understanding think of an image seen in a old screen or an image seen in glossy monitor - I'm trying to enhance the image the closest to this point. An important point is that I can't make a image-to-image treatment, it must be something that I can use in all the images. I know ImageMagick is a powerful tool, and can certainly do something for my images! Many thanks!

I would like to learn how to use python to create this kind of GUI applications under Linux. "cool animation/effects" like 3D wall in Cooliris which is written in flash and compiz effects with opengl. I also heard of some python GUI library like wxPython and pyQT. Since I am completely new to python GUI programming, can anyone suggest me where to start and what I should learn to achieve and create such application? maybe learn pyQT with openGL feature? pyopengl binding? However,, it seems that there is no answer. (at least nobody has brought one up yet) I am currently using Comic Sans MS which gets wider when bold.

  From the Google keyword research tool, I see "chuck norris jokes" has global 246,000 searches. And again searching "jokes chuck norris" has the same search result. But as see, order of keyword in search terms has, "hello how are you" and "how are you hello" has clearly different results. Now instead of search term (assuming "chuck norris jokes"), I was wondering, if I had to register chucknorrisjokes.com and jokeschucknorris.com, would it effect the ranking on the search result? Or would it be the same? As we see here, both the domains has the same keywords, just in different order. How would that effect? I hope what I am trying to say is clear.
