    I am writing a window program which will run from the system tray. which will ping my phpbb board site to fetch new users registration information. So with the result i can check whether the user is spam user or not. if i feel it is a spam user then i will delete that entry from the users table. before deleting the users table what are all the other table that i should delete. so that there will not be any unlinked references which will then in due course of time gets numerous and waste of disk space. so i want to know what i should do before deleting an user so that all his other activities should be cleaned off before i deleting a user.

  • Using wget to save sequential files as well as renaming the file extension

    I run a cron job that requests a snapshot from a remote webcam at a local address: wget http://user:[email protected]/snapshot.cgi This creates the files snapshot.cgi, snapshot.cgi.1, snapshot.cgi.2, each time it's run. My desired result would be for the file to be named similar to file.1.jpg, file.2.jpg. Basically, sequentially or date/time named files with the correct file extension instead of .cgi. Any ideas?

  • Can I get the Waves Maxx speaker effects to work in Ubuntu?

    I have a new machine that comes with JBL 2.1 Speakers with Waves Maxx Audio 3. On Windows it sounds perfect, though in Ubuntu 12.04 I get cheap/sound with simple mp3 files. I have tried a few things on different blogs but no luck so far.   • SDL 2.0: is there a library to create 2D particle effects rapidly?

    I would like to create an light/explosion particle effect using some in built library. I am used to Cocos2D where there are specific classes that you can simply initialize in a certain position and producing a certain particle effect. Is there a way to do so in SDL 2.0 C++? I have found this tutorial but it seems to go for a "build it yoursefl" solution, which is ok but I do not want to re-invent the wheel if someone else has already built it.

    On the html5shiv Google Code page the example usage includes an IE conditional: <!--[if lt IE 9]> <script src="dist/html5shiv.js"></script> <![endif]--> However on the html5shiv github page, the description explains: This script is the defacto way to enable use of HTML5 sectioning elements in legacy Internet Explorer, as well as default HTML5 styling in Internet Explorer 6 - 9, Safari 4.x (and iPhone 3.x), and Firefox 3.x. An obvious contradiction. So to satisfy my curiosity, for anyone who has studied the code, are there any adverse side affects to loading html5shiv in every browser (without the IE conditional)? EDIT: My goal, obviously, is to use the shiv without the IE conditional.

  • Switching from an Ubuntu derivative to original Ubuntu

    I installed Zorin 6 (based on Ubuntu 12.04), because I like all the whistles it has (plymouth screen,compiz effects,installed codecs, sound themes, etc.). I miss though the modern and futuristic unity environment (launcher, dash, HUD, indicators etc.). Is there a way to switch from Zorin to Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS and keep all these effects? Or What additional software should I install in an Ubuntu clean install to add the effects Zorin has (plymouth, compiz effects, sounds, audio and video codecs etc.)

    I have the following in my Apache conf to get PHP-FPM working: FastCgiExternalServer /srv/www/fast-cgi-fake-handler -host 127.0.0.1:9000 AddHandler php-fastcgi .php AddType text/html .php Action php-fastcgi /var/www/cgi-bin Alias /var/www/cgi-bin /srv/www/fast-cgi-fake-handler DirectoryIndex index.php This works fine except that SCRIPT_NAME is always /var/www/cgi-bin and some scripts use SCRIPT_NAME to work out the location of the current script (vBulletin). Google has plenty of solutions for Nginx but not a word for Apache.

  • Would there be any negative side-effects of sharing /var/cache/apt/ between two systems?

    In the interest of conserving bandwidth, I'm considering mounting a VirtualBox host's /var/cache/apt as /var/cache/apt in the guest. Both host and guest are Ubuntu 10.10 32-bit. Would there be any negative consequences to doing this? I'm aware of the more robust solutions like apt-proxy, but I'd prefer this simpler solution if it's possible in order to spare the host the overhead of running extra services.

  • How can I fix the compiz effects lag in unity?

    I've recently installed ubuntu 11.04, and I actually liked Unity (although many others prefer Gnome), but there seems to be a lag problem. Every time I press the super button to bring out the Dash, or Super+W to show all windows, or any other action that involves some sort of effect, the effect lags a bit, and it could get really annoying. I've seen a fix using CompizConfig Settings Manager, but that doesn't seem to work for me. I've got a NVidia 9800 GT 1 GB video card, a 2 GB Ram, and not sure about the CPU (if you need it, tell me and I'll figure it out). Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance.

  • Multiple PHP SAPI configuration

    I'm trying to build PHP for use as an apache shared module --with-apxs2 but also with the 'php-cgi' binary (fastcgi) on Mac OSX 10.6. I'm using this ./configure : /configure --prefix=/usr/local/PHP \ --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \ --disable-ipv6 \ --enable-cgi \ --with-curl \ --with-mysqli=/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql_config \ --with-openssl=/usr \ --enable-ftp \ --enable-shared \ --enable-soap \ --enable-sockets \ --enable-zip \ --with-zlib-dir It builds the apache php5.so module just fine, but in /usr/local/PHP/bin, there is no php-cgi file. If I build it without the --with-apxs2 option (and indeed, I don't even need the --enable-cgi option) the php-cgi file gets built with no problems. Background on my setup: PHP 5.3.4, Apache 2.2.14, Mac OSX 10.6, Tomcat with JavaBridge (which is why I need the php-cgi file) Without the apxs2 option, /usr/local/php/bin/php -v produces: PHP 5.3.4 (cli) (built: Dec 21 2010 21:35:14) Copyright (c) 1997-2010 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies and /usr/local/php/bin/php-cgi -v produces: PHP 5.3.4 (cgi-fcgi) (built: Dec 21 2010 21:35:12) Copyright (c) 1997-2010 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies My question is, what am I not understanding with php SAPIs that won't allow the building of the two modules at the same time?   • Viability of Apache (MPM Worker), FastCGI PHP 4/5.2/5.3, and MySQL 5

    My server will be hosting numerous PHP web applications ranging from Joomla, Drupal, and some legacy (read: PHP4) and other custom-built code inherited from clients. This will be a development machine used by a dozen or so web developers and issues like fluctuating loads or particularly high load expectations are not important. Now, my question: are there any concerns I should know about when using Apache w/ MPM Worker, PHP 4/PHP 5.2/PHP 5.3 (all via FastCGI), and MySQL 5 (with a query cache of 64MB)? I have not tested the various applications extensively and I have only recently learned how to install PHP and utilize it via FastCGI (rather than mod_php, which in this case seemed impossible (considering the multiple versions of PHP and the desire to use MPM Worker over MPM Prefork)). I have come to understand that there could be concerns regarding XCache and APC, namely non-thread-safety issues where data becomes corrupted and the capability to use MPM Worker becomes null and void. Is this a valid concern? I have been using my personal testing server (running Ubuntu Server Edition 10.04 in VirtualBox) which has 2GB of RAM available to it.   • Remove an apache alias subdirectory

    I'm using Apache 2 on Ubuntu 12.04. I added an alias for a subdirectory, to point to gitweb. I realised I should probably make it accessible only on https - so I removed the alias and restarted Apache. I can still navigate to http://xyz/gitweb - even with no alias in any of my config files. How do I remove it?   • Am I crazy? Demos on jQuery's 'effects' page not working in any browser

    Hi all, I want to make sure I'm not crazy, because I can't get any of the effects demos to work on jQuery's demo pages. I thought it might be my new Firebug version (1.5.2) or Firefox in general, but they're not working in IE or Chrome either. Here are the links where the demos aren't working. One is for highlight, and the other is for explode. Incidentally, highlight is the one that I'm trying to use. Could it be the new jQuery UI version? Is anyone else having these not work?   • Why Does My Website Redirect me to my localhost?

    Alright, my website has some issues that I'm not sure what's causing them. Visit this page http://online-file-sharing.net/tos.html and click one of the bottom footer links... it redirects you to your localhost in the address bar. I have no idea why it does this. I'm hosting this website on my own server, which is this computer, and using Xampp. If this information helps. Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm also using DYNDNS as my nameservers. I've already ask this question on superuser and webapps QnA sites neither could help. They said to come here. Another thing to note is that this website runs on one script and not multiple scripts (upload.cgi). However there are three files that aren't dynamic and aren't part of the upload.cgi file... these are about.html, browse.html and tos.html.     When working with Exchange Server 2007 or newer, disabling a mailbox is a fairly common operation. However, the Technet documentation has no details about the side effects of disabling a mailbox. This is all it says. "This task removes all the Exchange attributes from the user object in Active Directory. Based on the deleted items retention policy, the Exchange store will retain mailbox data for the user object." Perhaps the boss has delegated calendar control to a secretary. Maybe a team of staff members all share access to a public folder. What happens to links between mailboxes after a mailbox is disconnected? Can the Disable-Mailbox operation be easily undone?

  • Are there really safe and legal resources for sound effects to use in applications?

    For those who want to opt for "close" immediately: Great user interfaces need great sound effects, right? User interfaces are programmed by programmers, right? So this is a programming question, ok? I had a very hard time to find good and legal sound resources. I am not looking for free sounds. Proper licensing is absolutely crucial, and I don't want to get sued by multibilliondollar music companies, hollywood sound studios and their highly overpaid lawyers. They cry about people downloading their stuff in file sharing sites but when someone comes and wants to really license stuff, the market is so empty like an open and unwatched gold mine. Trust me, whatever I type into google, I always end up getting sort of opaque and strange music libraries that do charge money, but refuse to provide proper licensing evidence to the licensee. When you pay money and they only count how many files you downloaded, that can never be a valid license, nor any evidence for you that you did license the sounds. Imagine that contributor suing you and you say: "I licensed it at xy", and his lawyer just smiles: "Show me proof, mofo!". So you loose a million dollars, or 1 for every downloaded app. Congrats. But that's the way all those "hey we're the worlds largest sound effect library" libraries are doing it. It's really annoying. And I hope someone here is able to point out a sound effects ressource which is A) big B) used by professinals C) has a reasonable pricing and licensing model D) provides the licensee with proper legal evidence about licensed sounds You know, I'm not from the US and typically you US folks are the ones who invent the cool stuff on the net, and maybe I just missed a new great start up. So?
