  • how to get bash to stop escaping $ during tab-completion?

    I have this on the command line: ln -sf $PWD/wine- and then I hit tab to complete the filename. In earlier versions of Ubuntu, this worked just fine to complete the wine- filename (and as a side-effect $PWD would be expanded at that time). But now it turns it in to ln -sf \$PWD/wine- which isn't what I meant at all and doesn't complete anything as the file does not literally start with $. How do I get completion back to the less broken behaviour? set tells me these are my current settings: BASHOPTS=checkwinsize:cmdhist:expand_aliases:extquote:force_fignore:hostcomplete:interactive_comments:progcomp:promptvars:sourcepath SHELLOPTS=braceexpand:emacs:hashall:histexpand:history:interactive-comments:monitor

    Hi, I am looking for a WPF Timeline User Control. I have checked out Blendables Timeline and Animated Timeline control from IdentityMine, but it is rather basic and buggy. I am looking for a timeline control that is similar to the MIT Similie timeline. http://www.simile-widgets.org/timeline/ What i need to be able to do is add interactive objects to the timeline, for example video, images, etc. Any ideas?     I'm trying to compile this function from Learn You a Haskell for Great Good. removeNonUppercase st = [ c | c <- st, c `elem` ['A'..'Z']] by placing it into a removeNonUpperCase.hs file. It compiles fine, but when passing the argument: ghci> removeNonUppercase "Hahaha! Ahahaha!" the compiler says: <interactive>:1:0: Not in scope: 'removeNonUpperCase' Why?

    In general, If I have a choice when developing a web site to use html elements or asp.net controls which one is better to use if my website is interactive with server side operations such as accessing database. Is it more secure to use asp.net controls or does not matter.     I have a messages line this: message 1 answer 1.1 answer 1.1.1 answer 1.2 answer 1.3 massage 2 ... and I have the line in my .gnus.el: (global-set-key [f9] (lambda () (interactive) (gnus-summary-lower-score-by-subj-substr-temp))) When I select "message 1" and press F9 next lines: message1 answer 1.1 answer 1.1.1 answer 1.2 answer 1.3 change the score. But I need the selection move to next message (message 2) when I press F9. How can I get it?

    Hello, I am developing a software using C# 2.0 which uses about 200MB of memory and occasionally high CPU. The problem is, when i am leaving my machine idle for about 20-30 mins with the application running, after i come back and try to use the application, it freezes for about 2 mins, then becomes interactive.     I love the GNU readline library, but since it is under a GPL license, I can not use it for commercial software. Do you know alternatives ? I only need the commandline history and auto completion (of customer keywords and files) features. I found this link : http://github.com/antirez/linenoise which seem to be a good starting point, but does not have auto completion. Any suggestions, surely this must be a common task for people building interactive shell commands.

    I have a script that I want to exit early under some condition: if not "id" in dir(): print "id not set, cannot continue" # exit here! # otherwise continue with the rest of the script... print "alright..." [ more code ] I run this script using execfile("foo.py") from the Python interactive prompt and I would like the script to exit going back to the command line. How do I do this? If I use sys.exit(), the Python interpreter exits completely.
