  I'm trying to install a scansnap s1300i scanner on ubuntu 13.10. It is still not working. • Problem with MVC3 application

  I am working on MVC3 application. I use entity framework, NInject, Fluent Validation and some more Nuget packages. I am using Tortoise SVN for versioning. Recently I changed the structure of my SVN repository, so my working copy of MVC3 app was moved to some different folder in the repository. Now when I checked out the copy from SVN, all the references that I had added through Nuget were lost(EF, NInject and rest nuget packages were showing yellow missing icon in references). This had happened to me prior to this also, when I tried to check out the app from svn to some other folder. I had to manually add all the references again through Nuget again. Am I doing anything wrong? Please guide. I hope I could explain my problem properly.

• Problem mounting USB Mobile Broadband dongle in Ubuntu 13.04

  I have been using Ubuntu 13.04 since last two months and I have problem mounting my USB dongle. I have Lenovo G-580 series laptop. It has 3 USB ports which are 3.0. When I attach dongle to one of the three USB ports the device gets mounted immediately but in the other two ports I have to reboot the OS while the dongle is attached to the laptop in order to mount it and connect to the internet. My dongle is of ZTE. I don't get what is going wrong.

• Duplicate Content Problem due to plugin

  Actually i am running website on wordpress where i have installed Transposh plugin on my site 'example'. Unfortunately, despite having English as the default language and therefore available at example.com/xxx, Google is indexing example.com/en/xxx so i m getting problem with duplicate content now i want to remove this plugin and links from google so that my content will be refine without getting duplicate content pages. Do you have any solution to do this safely. I think myself to remove this plugin from website, though it will create 404 errors from google links but i can add redirect code in htaccess till google would remove that "example.com/en/xxx " not found links. If you know any other healthy way to handle this please help me!

• Unity Particle System collision detection problem

  I'm using Unity 3.5.5f3 wich has the Shuriken particle system. I've made a blood particle system based on Unity's demos. (Exploding paint [Blood]) The blood is flowing and when it collides with a Plane Transform wich I've created a small pool of blood spawns as a Collision Sub Emitter. My main problem is that when I want to add another object to collide it just doesn't want to work. When I create a cube, and set it as a collision plane the collision will only occur at the half of the cube. I want this to happen: When it reaches the cube's surface the sub emmiter activates, and when the surface is horizontal it appears horizontally, and if it's vertical then vertically. Now it just appears horizontally everytime like in the picture. How could I solve it?

• Display in applications on ubuntu 12.10 is broken - maybe theme problem

  I have a problem which looks like this: http://s16.postimage.org/yjusy9en9/Screenshot_from_2012_10_28_22_49_07.png If you take a look at buttons "Apply", "Reset", "Close" or any other buttons or drop-downs, you will see there is no style on them. It is a fresh install of ubuntu 12.10 and it was working on the beginning. But after some time setting up ubuntu I noticed the style on the elements has gone - I don't know when. I installed compiz-settings - maybe that caused - but when I un-install nothing changes. Also checking/unchecking "window decoration" in compiz doesn't help. Please help me. I am out of options :/

  I'm trying to install themes with gnome tweak, and I need to install gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme because otherwise I cannot see the shell extensions tab. However, I cannot install shell extensions. I have tried to install by adding the PPA with the following: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/gnome3 Then, sudo apt-get update Finally, when I try to install: sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme It gives an error: The following packages have unmet dependencies: gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme : Depends: gnome-shell-extensions-common but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. I am convinced that there is a problem with the package. So I went on and tried to install the extensions from the website: https://extensions.gnome.org/ But even though I use Firefox (15.0), I cannot see the "switch" that is being mentioned to install the extension. Maybe the version of Firefox is too new. Is there any workaround that you know of? (By the way, I use Ubuntu 12.04, freshly downloaded and installed.)

There is lots of pressure from above to get things working agian. Specifics: PHP/MVC application that is API-driven in Zend. Deployed to a few servers. My question: While investigating, lets say I have a hunch that something is wrong. But, I don't know for sure. And, of course, I can't test things in production. If I have a suggested fix based on that hunch, would it be wise to try and apply it and see if it works, before understanding what the problem is?

Just one month after I bought the notebook, the battery got a problem and it does not charge anymore. Now Lenovo won't give me any support because I am using Ubuntu. Lenovo says they will give support only for Windows users because their tools runs on Windows. They refused to change my battery before running the Windows based test. What should I do?

• Problem with homepage's SEO when using subfolders in a multi language website

  After watching a hundreds of threads about multilanguage website I haven't found an answer to my specific problem, so I think its not a common issue and I must have done something terribly wrong ;-) We have a brand.com website in DE main language and the following subfolders: /de/ = canonical of / + redirect to / /it/ /en/ When I crawl google.com for EN keywords or google.it for IT keywords then I get as results the homepage in German language (both title and description) as the top result with no trace of the /it/ or the /en/ homepage. Is this because /it/ and /en/ both needs a separate link building strategy? I've already configured Google webmaster tool into the following way: brand.com, no language preference brand.com/de/, de language brand.com/it/, it language brand.com/en/, en language Perhaps having "/" as DE main page is it wrong and I should use a different approach? i.e. like having "/" to be a 301 to /de/ instead ?   Usually is is said that if you are not having any problems do not update your bios. When I'm running windows everything is fine. But for Linux I think the DSDT is broken. According to this this updating your bios should be preferred before messing with DSDT. This is the link for a bios update for my laptop but details section says that it fixes some 'start-up' problem. So, should I use this update or not? thanks.

• Steps to diagnose SNU5600 disconnection problem

  I have a Philips SNU5600 WiFi dongle plugged into two machines (ie I have two SNU5600 dongles, one in each machine). One machine is running 10.10 and the other is running Linux Mint. The dongles work absolutely fine, except if I do a lot of file transfers to a NAS attached to the wireless router. After a while the connection to the router will go. To get the connection back I either need to run sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart or I need to unplug and plug in again the dongle. Otherwise the dongle works fine (web browsing, streaming, etc). Output of lsusb: Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0471:1236 Philips (or NXP) SNU5600 802.11bg Output of lsusb -v at http://pastebin.com/dXYKkF01 What steps should I take next to resolve this? Is it a known problem? Could it be the router? It is a 3Com "OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Cable/DSL Gateway Version 1.02.15".

• Problem with all fn Keys for Thinkpad W520

  I have a problem with the fn. I used a live version of Ubuntu 11.10 on a USB stick to install Ubuntu on my Thinkpad W520. The fn keys worked perfectly in the live version, but do not work in the installed version. I would like to know what I have messed up. I can't seem to find the fix on google, except for inserting the shortcuts by hand, which seems a little brutal, since I know they can work without prior configuration. Thanks in Advance. Edit: The keys just started working out of the blue. I don't really know what my system did or what maybe I did. However all keys work fine now. Sorry for putting this now useless question here.

• structure problem in Relational DBMS creation

  For learning and understanding purpose, I currently want to try to make a small relational DBMS with simple features like (for now) only sequential reading/writing and CREATE TABLE, INSERT, SELECT, UPDATE and DELETE management. I am currently on the "think" part of the project and I am stuck on the way to store the read data in memory. First I was thinking of putting them properly on a structure, but the problem is that tables are all different, know the type of each column is not an issue, but I am not sure C provide a way to make fully dynamic structure. My second and current idea is to make a simple char array of the required length and just get the data by order with cast. But I am not sure if it is the good way to do that part, so I wanted to ask for your opinion and advices about that. • Bitmap to Texture2D problem with colors

  I have a small problem with converting a bitmap to a Texture2D. The resulted image of the conversion has the red channel switched with the blue channel :/ I don't know why, because the pixel formats are the same. I'm think that is because a code i used before. Without this code a warning is shown. • Problem in Kubuntu: Default browser never opens

  I'm using Kubuntu, and I switched the default browser to my favourite one. The thing is, when I did this, both my Twitter clients stopped working. Now each and every Twitter client I download and install fails to open any web browser to finish my account authorization. It's impossible they're all broken, so I reset my default browser to rekonq and it works well as a default browser, but still can't login to twitter from any client. In fact, every button in every program that should open a browser window (like Amarok with the "like on last.fm" button) does nothing. So I think there may be a problem with my system but I can't figure out what is it. My user is not in the admin group (it's a shared user), I have an admin user but I only use it to install programs. Could that be the cause? Also, hitting alt+F2 and writing man:file (enter) opens a rekonq window normally.

• Screensaver + lock double login problem after Maverick upgrade

  Just found something strange after updating from 10.04 to 10.10. I've set up my screensaver to lock the account when activated. When I log back in, I see my desktop for a second and then the screensaver starts again and I have to re-login. I checked my process list in gnome system monitor, and I have two gnome-screensaver processes(!?), one started as /usr/bin/gnome-screensaver and other simply as gnome-screensaver. And no, I did not start one manually. Where do I look for a way to switch off one of those (supposing that's the problem)? I did not find anything in my startup applications.

  I'm having a multithreading problem with Nvidia PhysX. the SDK requires that you call Simulate() (starts computing new physics positions within a new thread) and FetchResults(waits 'till the physics computations are done). Inbetween Simulate() and FetchResults() you may not 'compute new physics' It is proposed (in a sample) that we create a game loop as such: Logic (you may calculate physics here and other stuff) Render + Simulate() at start of Render call and FetchResults at end of Render() call However, this has given me various little errors that stack up: since you actually render the scene that was computed in the previous iteration in the game loop. I wonder if there's a way around this? I've been trying and trying, but I can't think of a solution...

  I've a problem with my LibreOffice. Using an old archive that I have (with the Maxwell's equations), the greek letters are like squares. I tried to change something in the alphabet but even the font don't have any greek letters (they appear like squares too), both Greek and iGreek letters package. Sounds like a packet that isn't installed or corrupted, but I still redownloaded and reinstalled the LO and I don't know whose I have to install. With the OO my equations worked well (I made the file with it). What am I supposed to do?
