  • Can't kill process TGitCache.exe

    Sometimes, I suspect when I open a music folder during the right moon phase and during a leap microsecond, this process crashes and pops up an error reporting dialogue. I decline to report the error, because that also fails by now, and choose Exit. Exit just delays the re-appearance of the error reporting dialogue for about 2 seconds. If I try and kill the process using SysInternals' Process Explorer the process is just restarted, only to crash again. So, I'm pretty sure another process, probably a service because TGitCache doesn't have a parent process and no other Git processes are visible, is keeping tabs on this process and restarting it if it dies. This is cruel and inhuman, but how can I find which nanny process is prolonging the agony?

  • Explorer.exe - No such interface supported and other issues

    The problem started when I uninstalled my ATI graphics driver and i used a driver cleaner. After i restarted win7 and it got to POST the screen just went completely blank. So i Used system restore from the repair menu to get back on. I found out that if I ran chkdsk the display just goes black after restart on startup and i have to use system restore to get back on windows7 not sure why this is. When i right click desktop and choose 'Screen Resolution' it says No such interface supported. Also when I click items such as device manager in the windows explorer it does not do anything. I have tried re-registering the DLLS but that did not do anything.

  • Force Run System File Checker (SFC.exe)

    C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow Beginning system scan. This process will take some time. There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again. Is there a way I can force SFC to scan again and make the new fixes on reboot? Probably by deleting some file or something? I removed C:\Windows\WinSxS\pending.xml by taking ownerships but it still shows the same message.

    We are having a terminal server ibm x3650 with 8 gb of RAM. On many occasions, at least once in a day, we get the error "The instruction at "0x7c8199b2" refrenced memory at "0x9ddc2ade". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate the program. Click on CANCEL to debug the program. I have surfed very many sites, microsoft included, but none of them have been able to give conclusive solution for ending this problem. When we press on ok or cancel, then our ERP application (VB-MS SQL) starts to work normally. till such time the message is there, all our reports are hanged (Business Objects reports). We have already installed all the drivers of printers on the TS. Can anyone help?

    hi, i have a few programs that check if file exist, and if its old version delete him and paste the new one. However under Windows 7 Professional i can't delete the file some System process is always restoring it (same with the dll files) and as you can imagine a lot of programs are crashing because of that behaviour. So WHAT SERVICE/PROCESS can lock/recreate/restore files? I have disabled System Recovery.

  • Start ProcessMonitor will unexpectedly execute another irrelevant exe

    Well, I have encountered a weird problem recently. Whenever I try to start ProcessMonitor, another irrelevant program (an IM software indeed) starts instead. In the end, the only way I start ProcessMonitor is to uninstall that IM software. I have tried ProcessMonitor on my colleagues' computers but none of them see the same things. So, do you guys have any idea how to solve this? Thanks in advance.

  • Corrupted Laptop - Transfer Data Without My Computer (explorer.exe) Using Command Line

    I have a laptop (Toshiba Satellite) that is pretty messed up. The person this belongs too already replaced it with a new machine. My job is to transfer all her data from this machine to disk so that I can transfer it to her. She doesn't want to lose any data (understandably so). Any operation I attempted (i.e., double clicking on any folder icon, like My Documents, My Computer, etc) resulted din a complete crash. The only good news is that I can actually start and navigate around using the command line. Also, I can access the internet. I have a network, so if I can map the drives I can get this thing figured out (hopefully). Also, I tried a USB drive but I couldn't figure out how to access it from the command line. Two questions (I need to use the command line for these): How would I go about accessing the USB drive and how can I map the shared drives on my network so that I may cd to that directory for use of the copy command?

  • sqlserver.exe uses 100% CPU

    I've created an application (asp.net) that once a day syncs an entire database through XML-files. The sync first creates an transaction and then clears the databases tables and then starts to parse and insert the new rows into the database. When all the parsing is complete it commits the transaction. This works fine on a SQL Server 2005 (on another machine), but on SQL Server 2005 Express, the process starts to use 100% CPU after a while, and as I log the inserts being made I can see that it just stops inserting. No exception, it just stops inserting. Anyone got any idea what this may be? I've previously run the syncronization on another sql 2005 express (also on another computer), and that worked. The server has only 2GB RAM, could this be the problem?

I was trying to use AxCrypt but I don't like the usage, i.e. you specify a passcode and the person who launches the exe needs to specify the passcode.     If this is a repeat question, please direct me to the existing solution. I wasn't able to find a matching query. We currently use InstallShield. I'm attempting to covert a project with 407 files to a WiX3 installation package. I tried using heat.exe to do some of the automation but I get the following warning for almost every file: c: heat dir "c:\projectDir\projectA" -gg -ke -template:Product -out "c:\install\projectA\heatOutput" heat.exe: warning HEAT5150 : Could not harvest data from a file that was expected to be a SelfReg DLL: c:\projectDir\projectA\plugin1.dll. If this file does not support SelfReg you can ignore this warning. Otherwise, this error detail may be helpful to diagnose the failure: Unable to load file: c:\projectDir\projectA\plugin1.dll, error: 126. Q: Is it normal for this warning to be reported for every file? If there's a current "How To create/convert to your first WiX install project with many files" tutorial, please point me to it. The key requirement is "with many files". Thank-you -Karen Kwong- PS. I know that WiX is designed for incremental install project creation but it would be nice to know if there's an automated way to convert existing install projects.

    I am getting the following error when attempting to build my project in Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition: *Task failed because “sgen.exe” was not found, or the correct Microsoft Windows SDK is not installed. The task is looking for “sgen.exe” in the “bin” subdirectory beneath the location specified in the InstallationFolder value of the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A. You may be able to solve the problem by doing one of the following: 1) Install the Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5. 2) Install Visual Studio 2008. 3) Manually set the above registry key to the correct location. 4) Pass the correct location into the “ToolPath” parameter of the task.* I tried downloading Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5, and still get the error. I also tried downloading the Windows 7 SDK and .NET Framework 3.5 and still same result. I also tried to manually editing the registry to change the InstallationFolder and I tried repairing the Visual Studio install. The project was originally created on WinXP and I am trying to compile on a reformatted machine running Windows 7 Enterprise.

    Hi On a Terminal Server install of my WinForms app, one of my clients gets the following exception on startup: "Unrecognized configuration section connectionStrings" This is occurring in myapp.exe.config but I can't figure out why. Runs perfectly everywhere else, only difference between this install and any other is the connection string. I've searched around, but can only find this issue relating to ASP.NET apps and issues in web.config. Any ideas what could be broken in the config of this WinForms app though? Is it indicating a problem further up in machine.config?   • SubSonic missing stored procedures in StoredProcedures.cs when generated with SubCommander sonic.exe

    We have been using SubSonic to generate our DAL with a lot of success on VS2005 and SubSonic Tools 2.0.3. SubSonic Tools do not work on VS2008 (as far as we can work out) so we have tried to use SubCommander\sonic.exe and are now hitting some problems. When we regenerate the project using SubCommander\sonic.exe and try to compile we get some errors reporting missing members (which should have been automatically generated based on the stored procedures we have). On closer inspection it looks like my StoredProcedures.cs file is missing some (not all) automatically generated methods for my classes. As an example, I have 2 procs: [dbo]._ClassA_Func1 [dbo]._ClassA_Func2 Only one of these is being generated in the StoredProcedures.cs file. These methods generate fine using the SubSonic Tools plugin. We have tried now with versions 2.1 and 2.2 of SubSonic with the same issue. We are still on .NET 2.0 so cannot use SubSonic 3.0. I have checked the permissions of both procs using fn_my_permissions and they seem identical. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can check? Thanks -- Mark

    I'm trying to deserialize some XML (returned from a web service) into an object that I created using XSD.exe. The XSD executable created a .CS file with a different partial class for each parent node in the XML. For Example, the beginning of the XML looks like this (why can't I post xml here? sorry, this is ugly): <disclaimer><notificationDescription>Additional charges will apply.</notificationDescription></disclaimer><quote><masterQuote></masterQuote></quote> And the Class generated by the XSD.exe has a partial class named disclaimer with a get; set; string for notificationDescription. And another partial class for quoteMasterQuote with the corresponding child nodes as public strings. How can I deserialize this XML file into multiple classes?     I'd like to print PDF file(s) on windows' network printer via GhostScript. (I dont want to use Adobe Reader) I've read gswin32c.exe which can do the job. I experimented with many commands and coudn't find the way how to force gs to print PDF on my (windows default) network drive. I don't need point exact network printer- default can be used. But if there is no such option I'm happy to pass printer name as well. (I've tried with param -SDevice="\server_IP\printer_name" but this didnt work as well...)   • Setup.exe files downloading without cab files over poor connections

    We have customers who are trying to download a setup.exe file over mobile connections that appear to be very slow. They have reported that when they click on the downloaded setup.exe, the install wizard starts up, but part way through the wizard they get an error message indicating that a cab file is corrupt or missing. They couriered a problem tablet to us, and we downloaded the file without a problem but I could replicate the problem by using https to download the file (https is normally used to access the rest of the site, although it is not necessary for the download). When I did this the downloaded file was 2.8MB. It should be 8MB. I don't think that https is the root cause of the problem because I can see the download link in the browser history using http, so I know the customer tried to download using http. I think that the issue is that the poor connection is preventing a complete download, but the browser is acting as if it is complete. Is there a way to ensure the file is downloaded fully, or not at all? Why does the browser not indicate that the download is incomplete?

  • Network Authentication when running exe from WMI

    Hi, I have a C# exe that needs to be run using WMI and access a network share. However, when I access the share I get an UnauthorizedAccessException. If I run the exe directly the share is accessible. I am using the same user account in both cases. There are two parts to my application, a GUI client that runs on a local PC and a backend process that runs on a remote PC. When the client needs to connect to the backend it first launches the remote process using WMI (code reproduced below). The remote process does a number of things including accessing a network share using Directory.GetDirectories() and reports back to the client. When the remote process is launched automatically by the client using WMI, it cannot access the network share. However, if I connect to the remote machine using Remote Desktop and manually launch the backend process, access to the network share succeeds. The user specifed in the WMI call and the user logged in for the Remote Desktop session are the same, so the permissions should be the same, shouldn't they? I see in the MSDN entry for Directory.Exists() it states "The Exists method does not perform network authentication. If you query an existing network share without being pre-authenticated, the Exists method will return false." I assume this is related? How can I ensure the user is authenticated correctly in a WMI session?
