  • powershell.exe tab completion - list alternatives?

    I've never really used PowerShell before, and playing with it a bit, it looks like it uses cmd.exe's style of tab completion (fill in the first likely candidate, and then you can use tab to cycle through other alternatives). I'd much prefer the way e.g. bash works, where if there are multiple candidates, it shows a list of them. Is there an easy way to turn this on, by any chance?

    I want to wrap a existing msi installer file into NSIS installer executable. Because there is not any option to change the icon of the msi file. I just want to customize the icon of the output setup.exe. Along with this I would also want to make sure that NSIS does not add any extra user interface into my installer.     NSIS has a Name variable that you define in the script: Name "MyApp" It defines the name of the installer, that gets displayed as the window title, etc. Is there a way to pull the .NET Version number out of my main EXE and append it to the Name? So that my installer name would automatically be 'MyApp V2.2.0.0" or whatever?

    I have an application and from this application I have to start another process by shutting down the current application and after the completion of the process again start the application. The flow is as follows, suppose I have an application app.exe, and another application another.exe, so i have to do following: 1) Start app.exe 2) Stop/shutdown app.exe and start another.exe from app.exe 3) When another.exe completes, stop/shutdown another.exe and start app.exe from another.exe Anyone please provide me some clue of how to do it ?

However path to java.exe contain spaces. only literaly putting in bash sometghing like this worked: /cygdrive/c/Program\ Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_10/bin/java -cp "$TOOL_HOME" DateParse "$DATE" "$FORMAT" My attemts to put java path to a variable failed: export JAVA_EXE="/cygdrive/c/Program\ Files/Java/jdk1.5.0_10/bin/java" $JAVA_EXE -cp "$TOOL_HOME" DateParse "$DATE" "$FORMAT" also different combination with cygpath, quotes, brackets did not work. I am not finding the the right combination

    It is actually useful for me to store some files in EXE to copy to selected location. I'm generating HTML and JS files and need to copy some CSS, JS and GIFs. Snippet System.IO.File.WriteAllBytes(@"C:\MyFile.bin", ProjectNamespace.Properties.Resources.MyFile); doesn't work for me! On "WriteAllBytes" it says: "cannot convert from 'System.Drawing.Bitmap' to 'byte[]'" for image and "cannot convert from 'string' to 'byte[]'" for text file. Help!
