  i have a separate class for each of my database entities and when i create an object of my class to reference the properties of a class it returns a circular reference which contains properties of other entities too that are related via FK ... to remove the circular reference i want to first make a copy of the object through "context proxy object" copy and then get the primitive, complex, arrayEnumerable types of that object and strip off these types from the object and then the object get returned by web service....

  I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around Java generic types. Here's a simple piece of code that in my mind should work, but I'm obviously doing something wrong. • Calling a native callback from managed .NET code (when loading the managed code using COM)

  Hi, I am really confused by the multitude of misinformation about native / managed interop. I have a C++ exe which is NOT built using CLR stuff (it is not Managed C++ or C++/CLI and never will be). I would like to access some code I have in a C# assembly. I can access the C# assembly using COM. However, when my C# code detects an event I would like it to call back into my C++ code. The C++ function pointer to call back into will be provided at runtime. Note that the C++ function pointer is a function found in the exe's execution environment. I don't want the managed code to try and load up some DLL to call a function (there is no DLL). How do I pass this C++ function pointer to my C# code through .NET and have my C# code successfully call it? Thanks!

  Here's my situation; I've built a very simple web app that looks up a users location and plots it on a Google map. Here's my code: http://pastebin.com/d3a185efd When I test it, my location is detected as being = 500 meters from where I actually stand. BUT When I open up Google Maps or Gowalla my location is correct to within <20 meters? So my question is: Do native iPhone apps benefit from a higher accuracy rate than web apps? If so, why?

• Using Symbol MC70 series scanner with native code

  Is it possible to use Symbol MC70 series scanner with native code? I have a Windows Mobile application written using Lazarus(Object pascal) and I want to use it with Symbol MC70. The sdk that they have are for C, .NET and Java. I had a look at the C sdk and it comes with .LIB files which I cannot use with Object Pascal. I have no clue as to how the scanner is working with .NET stuff, I could not see a WIN32 dll in the files provided, maybe it is in the cab file. Any suggestions as to what I should do to get the scanners to work for me. Sandeep

  I started my emulator with ./emulator -trace profile -avd emulator_15. I then tracked down the trace files to ~/.android/avd/rodgers_emulator_15.avd/traces/profile, where there are six files: qtrace.bb, qtrace.exc, qtrace.insn, qtrace.method, qtrace.pid, qtrace.static. I can't figure out what to do with these files. I've tried both dmtracedump and traceview on all of the files, but none seem to generate any output I can do anything with. How can I view the proportion of time taken by native method calls on Android?

• Native Mouse events with Flash and Selenium

  I understand that Selenium does not support Flash, but it is my understanding that I should be able to do some simplistic testing of Flash by using Selenium's built in native mouse support and doing mouse up/down events based on coordinates. Is this correct? I can't seem to get it working. I'm trying to test on this page: http://mandy-mania.blogspot.com/2010/04/sneak-peek-of-final-season-of-lost-dvd.html and all I'm trying to do is click on the flash object so it plays the video. I've tried all sorts of commands, MouseOver, MouseDown, MouseDownAt, MouseUp, MouseUpAt, etc. So, I'm wondering if this just theoretically doesn't work or if I'm just doing something wrong. The xpath I'm using is //object[@id='player'], although I've tried a number of different combinations. And yes, I've also tried just the straight click command. Any suggestions? Thanks!

• Storing date and time as epoch vs native datetime format in the database

  For most of my tasks I find it much easier to work with date and time in the epoch format: it's trivial to calculate timespan or determine if some event happened before or after another, I don't have to deal with time-zone issues if the data comes from different geographical sources, in case of scripting languages what I usually get from database when I request a datetime-typed column is a string that I need to parse in order to work with it. This list can go on, but for me in order to keep my code portable that's enough to ditch database's native datetime format and store date and time as integer. What do you guys think?

• BDE, Delphi, ODBC, SQL Native Client & Dead lock

  Hi. We have some Delphi code that uses the BDE to Access SQL Server 2008 through the SQL Server Native Client ODBC driver (2005 version). Our issue is that we're experiencing some deadlock issues in a loop doing inserts to multiple tables. The whole loop is done within a [TDatabase].StartTransaction. Looking at the SQL Server Profiler we clearly see that at one point during the loop the SPID (Session ID?) change, and then we naturally end up with a deadlock. (Both SPID doing inserts to the same table) It seems like the BDE at some point does a second connection to the DB... (Although I would love to skip the BDE, it's currently not possible. ) Anyone with experiences to share?

  Dear all, I have decided to develop a native iPhone apps as a compliment to our webapps. Now I am wondering what are my options to send data remotely from the iPhone apps - since the database is online - to our online database. What I can think of on top of my head - since I come from web dev background - is JSON. My webapps is built using Rails, so I figure it would not be difficult to accept JSON request from the iPhone apps. But the next question is, is it difficult to send JSON data remotely from the iPhone apps? If JSON is not recommendable, what are my other options? Thank you so much for the assistance. • Allow native DLL to output stdout / stderr in c# console application

  I have a native DLL which outputs via stdout / stderr. I have a C# console application which calls this DLL and outputs binary data to a parent C# application which started the C# console exe, processing stdout / stderr. Currently when I call the C# exe it works just fine (the DLL hooks up to the stdout of my console application and puts its data in just fine). Is this by design (and shouldn't be broken in future .NET framework versions)? Are there limitations on my managed code's deployment with this strategy (full-trust, permission requirements, GAC issues, etc)? I can't seem to find any documentation about stdout with a managed exe and an unmanaged dll both putting data in that standard output on MSDN. Thanks,

  First, I am aware that dynamic languages is a term used mainly by a vendor; I am using it just to have a container word to include languages like Perl (a favorite of mine), Python, Tcl, Ruby, PHP and so on. They are interpreted but I am interested here to refer to languages featuring strong capability to support the programmer efficiency and the support for typical constructs of modern interpreted languages My question is: there are dynamic languages can be compiled efficiently in native executable code - typically for Windows platforms? Which ones? Maybe using some third part ad-hoc tools? I am not talking about huge executables carrying with them a full interpreter or some similar tricks nor some smart module able to include its own dependances or some required modules, but a honest, straight, standard, solid executable code. If not, there is some technical reason inhibiting the availability of such a best-of-both-world feature? Thanks! Daniel

  I have a C# Service that is calling a C DLL that was originally written in VC6. There is a bug in the DLL which I am trying to inspect. After having a nightmare trying to get debug to work I eventually added the dll to the VS2005 solution containing the C# Service and added the necessary _CRT_SECURE_NO_WARNINGS. The debug version of the service is registered using 'installutil.exe' tool. I can get the debugger to break just before the line where the dll is entered via a call to System.Diagnostics.Debugger.Break();. I found some instruction on the net regarding stepping into debugging unmanaged code, and enabled the 'Enable unmanaged code debugging' check box, I've also tried turning on the Options-Debugging-Native 'Load DLL exports' and 'Enable RPC Debugging' (even though it's not COM). I've also copied the debug dll and .pdb to the same bin directory as the However the unmanaged code is not being stepped into which is what I really need. UPDATE: I found the Debugging Type in the DLL properties and set it to 'Mixed' as per suggestion on several sites but to no avail.

  I'm using JNA and Java but I think this question affects any native-to-nonnative bridge. I have a Java application which relies on lib1.dylib, and lib1.dylib relies on lib2.dylib. I want to put everything inside of my .app file on Mac. I can easily put lib1.dylib inside and set java.classpath (or NativeLibrary.addSearchPath()) to tell the JVM where to find lib1.dylib. The trouble is, I don't know how to communicate that lib1.dylib's dependencies are also in the location I provided. The result is that lib1 is loaded fine, but then lib2 can't be found since it's not in the operating system's library path. Anyone know how I can overcome this problem? I imagine it must come up plenty in big projects with large numbers of shared libraries.

  I'm having trouble with inserting a value into a database through node.js. Here is the offending code: sql.query(conn_str ,"INSERT INTO Login(email, hash, salt, firstName, lastName) VALUES(?, ?, ?, ?, ?); SELECT SCOPE_IDENTITY() AS 'Identity';" , [email, hash, salt, firstName, lastName], function(err, results){ console.log(results) } Unfortunately, the console is just echoing [], meaning results is an empty array, I suppose. Does anyone know why the identity is not being returned? Even if it was null, why isn't results then [{Identity: null }] ? Database is on Azure, which does have a "Scope_Identity" function, and the native client also recognises this function. Using node package "msnodesql" Please Help

  Hey guys, I would like to write a small C++ app and run it on chrome using the native client API. I have a few questions though: 1) I compiled the examples on Ubuntu and ran the code on firefox but can't run it on chrome (using version 5.0.342.7 beta) Do I need to install something? An extension/plugin? 2) I can't find a single online application I could run? Links anyone, I want to see the power of this thing without having to compile the code locally. There may be other ways to get directory information without issuing the command, but that's beside the point of my question.) It would correspond to os.system(...) in Python.   I feel bad asking this question but I am currently not able to program and test this as I'm writing this on my cell-phone and not on my dev machine :P (Easy rep points if someone answers! XD ) Anyway, I've had experience with using hashvalues from String objects. E.g., if I have StringA and StringB both equal to "foo", they'll both compute out the same hashvalue, because they're set to equal values. Now what if I have a List, with T being a native data type. If I tried to compute the hashvalue of ListA and ListB, assuming that they'd both be the same size and contain the same information, wouldn't they have equal hashvalues as well?

• Need new method for linking to native mapping from mobile web app

  My mobile web apps use a map button which automatically starts the mapping features of Android and iPhone by simply linking to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=New+York. iOs 6 comes out, the links stop working, because Apple wants us to use "maps.APPLE.com". Turns out ANYTHING you send to "maps.apple.com" gets forwarded to "maps.google.com". So now I have to specially detect iOs 6 and swap out links just so Apple can forward everything back to Google anyway. Is there a clean way to open the device/native mapping app from a mobile web app that works on Android, iOs 6, and iOs pre-6, since iOs 6 nerfed it? • Trying to re-create UI object from the native iPhone Calendar Notes

  Probably a lame question for a start but i'm trying to re-create the ui object that's used in Apple's native Calendar to create notes. It's the basic text-field but with multiple lines. Sort of a text-area. Now i know that anything from the calendar in terms of ui objects isn't available but i have seen this in quite few apps so i'm guessing it's some sort of standard component.   What is the difference between adding MIME types in these 2 different situations? When in IIS 6 manager... Right click on the computer name (local computer) properties mime types Right click on the "Web sites" folder properties http headers mime types I'm guessing that perhaps option 1 adds MIME types for FTP also? However if that were true i'd expect to be able to add MIME types specifically in the properties of FTP (and not just websites). thanks for your help.
