• HP OfficeJet 5600 w/ Dlink DPR1260 not printing except from Notepad

  I have an OfficeJet5600 attached to a Dlink DPR1260 wireless print router. It has worked great for a long time. Today we had a power outage and the thing was inaccessible. I reset the DPR1260 and reinstalled drivers and soforth. I can now print from Notepad, but not from any Office programs, IE, or Chrome. I have toggled on and off many settings such as spooling/not spooling, etc. Nothing has helped. Any ideas? I have Windows Vista.

On my ubuntu machine when i do php crawl.php everything is displayed properly in Chinese (the page is in UTF-8). However on my CENTOS machine using the same code I get æ´å¤åå¸ when I print in the terminal. and when I save it to the database, the characters are also messed up. One thing I noticed is that when I do print $content, both systems display them properly.

Looking at these docs from Apple, it sounds like I can set up the share via Bonjour for Windows or SMB. What are the pros and cons of doing it one way or the other?   My Canon IP3000 printer recently started having problems with the black ink. Anything printed in black comes out striped, alternating between dark and light. An example is below. I've tried the following: Running the printer utility's head cleaning and "deep cleaning" a few times Running the utility's head alignment Replacing the ink cartridge with a new one Removing the print head and cleaning the bottom with denatured alcohol Anything else I can try before throwing this thing away? I'm considering buying a replacement print head, but is this likely to be solved by replacing the head?

  Gedit in linux works like a champ. For me, in two installations Gedit in Windows xp works well except that it will not print properly on HP laser jets or toshibas laser printers. It will make a 90 page project out of two pages of text composed in gedit. It puts one or two confused lines of text at the top of a sheet and then ejects the page. Any suggestions? jac

• Windows printing: printer works locally, but over network it can't find driver

  A friend has a Epson Stylus RX500 printer. She wants to share it between her WinXP desktop and her Win7 laptop. The printer is connected direct to her WinXP desktop, and she can print fine from there. But the Win7 laptop can't print -- it can see the shared printer on the network, but it can't find a driver for it. (And looking on the web, I don't see any Win7 drivers for it.) However, if I connect the printer directly to the Win7 laptop, it works, it can print. This suggests that there is a driver for it, but for some reason, it can't find a driver when connecting to the printer over the network. My question is: if a printer works when connected directly to the machine, should it still work over the local network?
