• shared library path inconsistent from one host to another

  I built my qt app so that all the Qt modules it uses are contained in the same directory as the executable. It works on the machine I used to build the app and I made sure to test this by removing those shared libraries everywhere except in the current directory of the app. Doing a ldd shows that its looking for those libraries in the current directory and putting the executable by itself fails to open the exectuable. So this is all good but when I transfer this directory to a host machine it still cant find those libraries. what could be the problem?

  While developing a PHP+JS web application we always try to separate big blocks of code into small modules/components, in order to make these last ones as much reusable as possible in other applications. Let's say we now have: the EcommerceApp (an ecommerce main application) a Server-file-mgr component (a component to view/manage file on server) a Mylib (a library of useful functions) a MailistApp (another main application to handle mail lists) ... EcommerceApp needs both Server-file-mgr component and Mylib to work Server-file-mgr needs Mylib to work MaillistApp needs both Server-file-mgr component and Mylib to work too. My idea is to simply structure the SVN project folder tree putting everything at the same level: trunk/EcommerceApp trunk/Server-file-mgr trunk/Mylib trunk/MaillistApp But in real life to make these apps to work the folder tree structure must be the following: EcommerceApp |_ Mylib |_ Server-file-mgr MaillistApp |_ Mylib |_ Server-file-mgr I mean Mylib and Server-file-mgr needs to be inside the EcommerceApp/MaillistApp folder. How would you then structure the SVN folder, as I did or in a different/better/smarter way???

  Trying to debug this error with getting a Django project running ImproperlyConfigured: AUTH_USER_MODEL refers to model 'accounts.User' that has not been installed Running python manage.py migrate Must iterate i am in no way a python or django expert - I have simply inherited someone elses project that I am trying to get running for the team here. I have followed steps to install postgres required modules including south creating database for postgres Any help appreciated on how to debug this. settings/base.py contains INSTALLED_APPS = DJANGO_APPS + THIRD_PARTY_APPS + LOCAL_APPS LOCAL_APPS = ( 'apps.core', 'apps.accounts', 'apps.project_tool', 'apps.internal', 'apps.external', ) so apps.accounts exits - but it asks for AUTH_USER_MODEL = 'accounts.User' - should it be AUTH_USER_MODEL = 'apps.accounts.User'?

  My Team are evaluation to a bigger Business portal. (Invoicing, Bookkeeping, Salaries.....) We are all used to work with DDD, O/R mappers with NHibernate as our first choice. We have chosen to work with CompositeWPF to keep modularity between all modules and part system in the business portal. Now we have evaluated Ria Services and are kind of disappointed how it works in a Data Oriented way, Data Oriented can be good in a service oriented scenario, but we feel that we can with an Object Oriented approach to, and we feel that we can get an application with less complexity with the OO approach than the DO approach. For example it doesn't allow Value Objects, Many-to-many relations, everything needs to have keys and so on. We haven't looked at WCF Data Services yet so our question is WCF Data Services our answere? Does it integrate good with Silverlight 4? Can we work with it in a OO manor?

  What is the best way to get an event from a child or grandchild module up to the parent Shell? For instance, if I have a view in a module that is actually 2 levels away from the Shell, and I have a Window behavior. Is the eventaggregator really the best way to do this? it seems like overkill. I just want my MainShell to watch for a change in the IsDialogOpen Property on the ViewModels in all my child modules. I feel like I am missing the trees for the forest...

• Problem's running unittest test suite OO

  Hello, I have a test suite to perform smoke tests. I have all my script stored in various classes but when I try and run the test suite I can't seem to get it working if it is in a class. The code is below: (a class to call the tests) from alltests import SmokeTests class CallTests(SmokeTests): def integration(self): self.suite() if __name__ == '__main__': run = CallTests() run.integration() And the test suite: class SmokeTests(): def suite(self): #Function stores all the modules to be tested modules_to_test = ('external_sanity', 'internal_sanity') alltests = unittest.TestSuite() for module in map(__import__, modules_to_test): alltests.addTest(unittest.findTestCases(module)) return alltests unittest.main(defaultTest='suite') This output's an error: Attribute Error: 'module' object has no attribute 'suite' So I can see how to call a normal function defined but I'm finding it difficult calling in the suite. BckHeadr.h - contatins some definitions of functions and some functions call that headers included in stdafx.h. I know what i must use #ifndef or #pragma once directives. But i can not decided this problem. I included in stdafx.h: frmIniPrgs.H, BckHeadr.h, frmMain.h. And use #ifndef in all modules.   Hello again, I've run into a problem with an application I'm developing in C#/.NET. A problem I can't trace down because it causes my system to crash with a BSOD.   Hello. Trying to make an app that will compare 1-to-multiple bitmaps. there is one reference bitmap and multiple other bitmaps. Result from each compare should be new bitmap with diffs. Maybe comparing bitmaps rather as textures than arrays?   Hi, I am getting java.io.EOFException while reading a binary block from lucene index. I am storing java object as byte-array in lucene index field and reading it when hit occurs. But i buffer them and then write them at once like 1000. Occasionally I also issue optimize() on index. When I write, I am re-opening IndexReader.   How would you go about constructing a step by step form that uses AJAX through Drupal to pull the next form step? For example, Step 1: I like Baseball I don't like Baseball. When that person clicks on either Like or Don't Like, I want to use AJAX to recognize and pull the next part of the form, remove/hide the first section since its not needed, and present the next section. Example: Step 1: I like Baseball *click (fade out) Step 2: My favorite team is __________ The player I like most is __________ What is the best way to do this through Drupal Form API? I know how to build the forms and modules, but I have never used AJAX yet. I know a few things exist out there that are supposed to help, but I wanted to know if anyone here has done it and how they approached it.

• Generating new sources via Maven plugin after compile phase

  I have a Maven project within which I need execute two code generation steps. One generates some Java types, then the second depends on those Java types to generate some more code. Is there a way to have both of these steps happening during my build? At the moment my steps are: execute first code generation plugin (during generate-sources) add directory of generated types to build path execute second code generation plugin (during compile) However my problem is that anything generated by the second code generation plugin will not be compiled (because the compile phase has finished). If I attach the second code generation plugin to an earlier phase, it fails because it needs the classes from the first code generation plugin to be present on the classpath. I know I could split this into two modules with one dependent on the other, but I was wondering if this could be achieved in one pom. It seems like a need a way to invoke compile again after the normal compile phase is complete. Any ideas?

• ruby / rails / mysql performance degraded on Snow Leopard

  I've burned a bunch of hours on this. I'm not having problems getting things to build, but I am seeing that my test suite runs about 2x slower than when I was on OS X 10.5.x . I've spent a lot of time playing around with different optimization settings (learning to avoid homebrew's llvm-gcc compilation). I've just learned that I needed to tweaks /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist in order to get the kernel to boot in 64 bit mode. However, my rails app is still running a bit slower than before, even after warming up the mysql server. So what performance tweaks might i need to look into? Right now the stock ruby 1.8.7 runs faster than 1.9.1 for some things, and I'd really like to know if there is anything I should be looking for. All my dev software has been compiled for x86_64, mysql with -O2 optimization, using regular gcc (not llvm-gcc).

  I've been doing this all the time: result = subprocess.call(['copy', '123*.xml', 'out_folder\\.', '/y']) if result == 0: do_something() else: do_something_else() Until today I started to look into pywin32 modules, then I saw functions like win32file.CopyFiles(), but then I found it may not support copying files to a directory. Maybe this functionality is hidden somewhere, but I haven't found it yet. I've also tried "glob" and "shutil" combination, but "glob" is incredibly slow if there are many files. So, how do you emulate this Windows command with Python? copy 123*.xml out_folder\. /y

• Issue parsing RSS xml

  Hello, I'm having an issue using Linq to XML parsing the following XML. What I am doing is getting the element checking if it's what I want, then moving to the next. I am pretty sure it has to do with the xmlns, but I need this code to work with both this style and normal style RSS feeds (no xmlns).   Hi, I have inherited a web project that is perl based and I'm attempting to set up a local testing server so changes can be made internally to the project. The server architecture Ubuntu 9.10 php 5.2.10 mysql 5.1.37 perl 5.10.0-24ubuntu4 All the dependent modules and packages are installed such as DateTime.pm, TemplateToolkit.pm but running the application throws the following error message: Can't locate object method "new" via package "Template" (perhaps you forgot to load "Template"?) at ../lib//KPS/TemplateToolkit.pm line 51 The code block that this refers to is: sub new { return Template->new( INCLUDE_PATH => $KPS::Config::templatepath, ABSOLUTE => 1, DEBUG => 1, ); } If anybody is able to shed any light on this or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. • python-pam & pam_time module -- possible to check a user without password?

  I've looked at the example script of python-pam and linux pam pages, but it's a bit confusing, at least for a beginner in PAM (that I am): http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/libs/pam/Linux-PAM-html/Linux-PAM_ADG.html http://packages.ubuntu.com/python-pam Is it possible to check if a user has or does not have access to login, without entering password? I would like to create a script that root can use to check if a user is allowed or not to login to the system. If so, can someone post an example that checks if the user is allowed against pam_time? • windbg and symbols

  When I set a breakpoint on one of the methods that appears on top of the stack (!CLRStack), I get lots of these messages for every DLL that the debuggee is referencing including the .NET Framework ones. ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded Further digging into this shows that windbg is not loading every .pdb file that I make available in the symbols path. I've double-checked my symbol's path and it looks OK, but the following commands clearly show that not all PDBs are loaded correctly! 0:000 !sym noisy noisy mode - symbol prompts on 0:000 .reload Reloading current modules ................................................................ DBGHELP: ntdll - public symbols c:\symbols\ntdll.pdb\6992F4DAF4B144068D78669D6CB5D2072\ntdll.pdb .. 0:000 .sympath Symbol search path is: SRV*c:\symbols*C:\xc Expanded Symbol search path is: srv*c:\symbols*c:\xc I've c:\symbols being used for the cache and c:\xc being used for the .NET app PDBs that WinDBG seems unable to find. • Django ImageField validation & PIL

  Hello On sunday, I had problems with python modules, when I installed stackless python. Now I have compiled and installed : setuptools & python-mysqldb and i got my django project up and running again. (i also reinstalled django-1.1), Then I compiled and installed, jpeg, freetype2 and PIL. I also started using mod_wsgi instead of mod_python. But when uploading imagefield in form I get validationerror: Upload a valid image. The file you uploaded was either not an image or a corrupted image. Searchmonkey shows that it comes from field.py imagefield validation. before raising this error it imports Image from PIL, opens file and verfies it. I tried importing PIL from python prompt manually - it worked just fine. Same with Image.open and Image.verify. So what could be causing this problem? Alan

• jQuery ajax in DotNetNuke preserving user authentication

  I want to use jQuery's ajax functionality in a DotNetNuke module I'm developing. I want the ajax call to be authenticated via DNN's membership functionality. I want the ajax response as json. How can I do this? I've looked at IWeb and IWebCF -- it's not clear to me from much Googleing and scanning the forums whether these modules would allow me to create a web service that would accept a simple post request and return json (seems like they want to do it the ASP.NET AJAX way with a generated proxy, I'd prefer to just use jQuery's AJAX call functionality). Seems you can't create a simple webmethod in a DNN module (since they are developed as User Controls (.ascx)). I could deploy an .asmx file with module, but that won't leverage DNN's authentication system. Ideas? I'm currently developing against DNN 4.9.5

  Hi, I have a multi module web project. Four modules of the project are packaged as jar and added as dependency to the fifth module, which is packaged as war. When it is time to deploy the application i just run package on the war project and my war is created with all the dependencies. Now there is a problem. One of the my module have heavy changes. Now when i created war for my projects these changes was not reflected in the output war file(the jar in lib folder of war has still the old code). Can you please point the things i am missing from the release process? Why the old code is being packaged with the war? • Is it proper to get and especially set Perl module's global variables directly?

  I was wondering what the best practice in Perl is regarding getting - or, more importantly, setting - a global variable of some module by directly accessing $Module::varName in case the module didn't provide getter/setter method for it. The reason it smells bad to me is the fact that it sort of circumvents encapsulation. Just because I can do it in Perl, I'm not entirely certain I should (assuming there actually is an alternative such as adding a getter/setter to the module). I'm asking this because I'm about to request an addition of a getter/setter for a global variable in one of the core Perl modules, and I would like to avoid it soundly and unanimously rejected on the grounds of "Why the heck do you need one when you can access the variable in the package directly?" - in case doing the latter is actually considered perfectly OK by the community.
