  • GraphicsDevice is null in my XNA Windows Game project

    Hello All, I have just started trying to make a simple game with XNA 3.1 to help myself learn C# and XNA. I have run into a bit of an interesting problem, however. In all of the tutorials, one is supposed to pass GraphicsDevice when instantiating a new spriteBatch object like this: spriteBatch = new SpriteBatch(GraphicsDevice); One might even do this: GraphicsDevice objGraphics = new graphics.GraphicsDevice; spriteBatch = new SpriteBatch(objGraphics); where graphics is the GraphicsDeviceManager. However, no matter which version I try, I always get an ArgumentNullException when I try to pass the GraphicsDevice object to spriteBatch's constructor. Almost every tutorial I have found gives the first one and only one mentioned the second option. Has anyone else run into a similar error or know what could be causing this? I am working in Windows 7 x64 with Visual Studio 2008.

    Hi, By virtue of my application, I need to seperate my business entities from the entities created by EF4. I need to restrict the entities to only access the repository from where they are translated (using translator) to business entities shared at business and service layer. I thought of restricting them by specifying them as internal. Now there are more than 40 entities in my application so manually setting them as internal is a difficult job. In one of the forums the answers suggested using the T4 templates. But even those templates read from the entity framework access specifier. When I try to manually try to specify all the properties and class access specifiers as internal it gives me an error saying that the entity set should also be set to internal, but there is no option for the same. I am using VS 2010 and Entity Framework 4. Any suggestions???

    Hi I have an enum declared like this: typedef enum { Top, Bottom, Center } UIItemAlignment; In my code I try to use it like this: item.alignment = UIItemAlignment.Top; I get an error like this: " Expected expression before 'UIItemAlignment' " If I use only: item.alignment = Top; everything works fine but why do I get this error if I try to use it the other way? _alignment is an NSInteger and it has a property declared like this @property (readwrite) NSInteger alignment; and I synthesized it in my implementation file. So my question is, why do I get this error?

  • SSRS 2008 Interactive Sorting in Sub-Report not working as expected

    I have a (parent) report that has a list. The details group of this list contains one sub-report. So basically if the list has 10 records (rows) the sub-report is executed 10 times. The problem seems to be with interactive sorting in the Sub-Report. It has 4 columns with interactive sorting enabled. When I run the parent report and try to sort columns SSRS "remembers" the previous sort column and sorts by multiple columns at the same time. For example if I sort by Col A then click to sort by Col B, SSRS will preserve the sorting of Col A (and the direction) and then apply the sorting to Col B. However I simply want to sort by Col B and do not want to Col A to be part of the sort. When I try this directly with the sub-report everything works as expected. Any ideas why this is happening?

  • Input not cleared.

    As the question says, for some reason my program is not flushing the input or using my variables in ways that I cannot identify at the moment. This is for a homework project that I've gone beyond what I had to do for it, now I just want the program to actually work :P Details to make the finding easier: The program executes flawlessly on the first run through. All throws work, only the proper values( n 0 ) are accepted and turned into binary. As soon as I enter my terminate input, the program goes into a loop and only asks for the termiante again like so: When I run this program on Netbeans on my Linux Laptop, the program crashes after I input the terminate value. On Visual C++ on Windows it goes into the loop like just described. In the code I have tried to clear every stream and initialze every variable new as the program restarts, but to no avail. I just can't see my mistake.   • Constructing a Binary Tree from its traversals

    I'm trying to construct a binary tree (unbalanced), given its traversals. I'm currently doing preorder + inorder but when I figure this out postorder will be no issue at all. I realize there are some question on the topic already but none of them seemed to answer my question. I've got a recursive method that takes the Preorder and the Inorder of a binary tree to reconstruct it, but is for some reason failing to link the root node with the subsequent children. Note: I don't want a solution. I've been trying to figure this out for a few hours now and even jotted down the recursion on paper and everything seems fine... so I must be missing something subtle. Any ideas would be quite appreciated. Side note: While debugging it seems that the root note never receives the connections to the additional nodes (they remain null). From what I can see though, that should not happen... EDIT: To clarify, the method is throwing the IllegalArgumentException @ line 21 (else branch of the for loop, which should only be thrown if the traversals contain different elements.

'The version does not support this version of file format' Out of my all vms this was only set to save state when shutdown. I tried deleting state and start still same error. Tried inspect disk as well edit disk both throw same error when try to open this. What could it be? any way to resolve it?

  • Swapping 3Ware Raid Card - Best Procedure

    We have a server running an old firmware version and driver (just took this position) on the 3Ware 9650SE Raid Controller... We have been having issues with the server and seemed to have narrowed it down to the Raid Card... I will be replacing the Raid card with the same model of 3Ware 9650SE, however, the card ordered most likely will have newer firmware on it. I managed to backup all the data to a very large drive. My plan is to update the firmware/driver on the current setup (which is still booting) and verify that everything works.. Then throw in the new Raid Card, check the firmware version (not letting it post). And update to newest firmware if needed via Java management utility on the card? Is this the best route? Thanks!

    I'm trying to implement shoulda unit tests on a rails 2.3.5 app using mongomapper. So far I've: Configured a rails app that uses mongomapper (the app works) Added shoulda to my gems, and installed it with rake gems:install Added config.frameworks -= [ :active_record, :active_resource ] to config/environment.rb so ActiveRecord isn't used. My models look like this: class Account include MongoMapper::Document key :name, String, :required => true key :description, String key :company_id, ObjectId key :_type, String belongs_to :company many :operations end My test for that model is this one: class AccountTest < Test::Unit::TestCase should_belong_to :company should_have_many :operations should_validate_presence_of :name end It fails on the first should_belong_to: ./test/unit/account_test.rb:3: undefined method `should_belong_to' for AccountTest:Class (NoMethodError) Any ideas why this doesn't work? Should I try something different from shoulda? I must point out that this is the first time I try to use shoulda, and I'm pretty new to testing itself.

  • Why does my custom component raise AVs in the IDE?

    I'm trying to write a simple component that will allow you to embed one or more SDL rendering surfaces on a Delphi window, using the SDL 1.3 APIs. It will compile and install just fine, but when I try to use the component in the form designer, it raises AVs whenever I try to access its properties in the object inspector, save the form, or delete the component, and placing one on a form then trying to run gives a linker error: it apparently can't read the DFM properly for whatever reason. The DLL can be found at http://www.libsdl.org/tmp/SDL-1.3-dll.zip and the source code to my component can be downloaded here. SDL.pas is a JEDI-SDL header file; the rest is my own code. I don't see any reason for this to raise AVs in the form designer. If I dynamically create the control at runtime I don't have any stability issues. Can anyone take a look at this and maybe provide some feedback that might help me clear it up?

    I created a new Azure Website, using Umbraco as the CMS. I got a page up and going, and I already have a .co.nz domain with www.domains4less.com. There's a whole lot of stuff on the internet about pointing URLs to Azure, but that seems to be more of a redirection service than anything (i.e. my URLs still use azurewebsites.net once I land on my site).   • Paver 0.8.1 compatibility with python 2.6

    Hi, Does anyone manage to bootstrap its development area using paver with python 2.6 ? I have install python 2.6, install paver with easy_install-2.6, everything looks fine. But when I try to launch the bootstrap method it raises an urllib2.HTTPError (: HTTP Error 404: Not Found) while trying to download http://pypi.python.org/packages/2.6/s/setuptools/setuptools-0.6c8-py2.6.egg. I have tryed to add the correct setuptools EGG file (which is 0.6c9) in the support-files directory, bootstrap.py find the EGG file, but doesn't seem to use it because it still try to download the 0.6c8 version which is no more available. Any ideas how to solve this issue ? Thanks in advance Bertrand

Is there a way to define this kind of thing myself, either in the C# language, or in the IDE? The reason I ask is that there are many similar usages (of the long kind) that would benefit from this, eg. if you're using ReaderWriterLockSlim, you want something pretty similar.

I can send to this list, other people can send to this list, but I have one user that cannot send to this list. Sending to this list gives the user an email back with the error: Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups: Staff The e-mail address you entered couldn't be found. Please check the recipient's e-mail address and try to resend the message. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk. and then a bunch of diagnostic information that I don't want to paste here because I don't want to have to censor all of the sensitive information contained (lazy) Can you guys throw me some possible reasons why this would happen? If there are an innumerable number of reasons, where should I start to troubleshoot this? EDIT One Exchange server inside the network that acts as a transport server, client access server and mailbox server and one Edge Transport server in the DMZ.

  • How to completely wipe rubygems along with rails etc

    Ok, so I decided I'd be cool and try to use Rails3 that's in beta. Then, things were getting hard to manage so I got rvm. I installed ruby 1.9.2-head in rvm and things were working, and then a computer restart later rails wouldn't start up. So I figured I'd just try running the system ruby and start rails in it. same error. Then, I uninstalled rails3 and got rails: no such file or directory type errors.. So now I'm royally screwed because rails2 is still installed but will not uninstall because of invisible dependencies, along with a lot of other random gems. How do I completely clear out all ruby gems and such so I can start anew?

    Using VisualStudio 2008, have emacs keyboard mapping scheme enabled. If I select text and try to paste over it, it INSERTS the new text, rather than replacing it. Also, if I select text and hit DELETE it deletes the first character AFTER the selected text (just as if I didn't have any text selected). Does anyone know how to fix this so that I get the standard windows behavior. That is: If I select text and try to paste over it, it replaces the selected text with what I pasted in. If I select text and hit the DELETE key, it actually deletes the text I have selected Thanks! Abby

  • .NET AxWebBrowser can't open page "Navigation to the webpage was canceled" error

    Oh, I am stuck again on this quiet annoying problem. I am trying to do a little automated browsing using the axWebBrowser component and it worked before. Now all of a sudden I get the following message when I try to browse to a page. Navigation to the webpage was canceled What you can try: Refresh the page. I totally disabled my firewall, ran VS2008 in Administrator mode, I even installed IE8 all to no avail. By the way IE8 doesn't work either. I don't know if the problem is related but all I get when I put a URL into IE8 is this message. Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage I don't so much mind that, I just really need to get my visual studio axWebBrowser working.

  • response.redirect to classic asp failing {Unable to evaluate expression because the code is optimize

    I have the following code pasted below. For some reason, the response.redirect seems to be failing and it is maxing out the cpu on my server and just doesn't do anything. The .net code uploads the file fine, but does not redirect to the asp page to do the processing. I know this is absolute rubbish why would you have .net code redirecting to classic asp, it is a legacy app. I have tried putting false or true etc. at the end of the redirect as I have read other people have had issues with this. Please help as it's driving me insane! It's so strange, it runs locally on my machine but won't run on my server! I am getting the following error when I debugged remotely. {Unable to evaluate expression because the code is optimized or a native frame is on top of the call stack.} (UPDATED) After debugging remotely and taking the redirect out of the try catch, I have found that the redirect is trying to get to the correct location but after it leaves the redirect is just seems to get lost. (almost as if it can't navigate away from the cobra_import project) back up a level to COBRA/pages. Why is this???     Lets say that I have the following code: public class Shelter<A extends Animal, B extends Animal> { List<A> topFloor = new Vector<A>(); List<B> bottomFloor = new Vector<B>(); public A getFirstTopFloorAnimal(){return topFloor.firstElement();} public B getFirstBottomFloorAnimal(){return bottomFloor.firstElement();} //This compiles but when I try to use it, it only returns objects public List<Animal> getAnimals() { Vector a = new Vector(topFloor); a.addAll(bottomFloor); return a; } } Now for somereason the following code compiles. But when I try to use getAnimals() I get a of objects instead of Animal. Any ideas why this is? Does this have to do with the List is NOT a List idea in the Generics tutorial? Thank you.
