    This is kind of an academic question, so feel free to exit now. I've had a dig through Stack for threads pertaining to URL/Controller mapping in MVC frameworks - in particular this one: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/125677/php-application-url-routing So far, I can ascertain two practices: 1: dynamic mapping through parsing the URL string (exploded on '/') 2: pattern matching matching url to config file containing available routes I wanted to get some feedback (or links to some other threads/articles) from folks regarding their views on how best to approach this task.

  • Using preg_replace to replace all occurrences in php

    Regex is absolutely my weak point and this one has me completely stumped. I am building a fairly basic search functionality and I need to be able to alter my user input based on the following pattern: Subject: %22first set%22 %22second set%22-drupal -wordpress Desired output: +"first set" +"second set" -drupal -wordpress I wish I could be more help as I normally like to at least post the solution I have so far, but on this one I'm at a loss.   • Agile Whiteboard Software

    Can anyone recommend decent software that could replace a physical whiteboard, as used in Agile development? I've had a look at http://www.brightgreenprojects.com/ but ideally we'd like something we could host ourselves. We use Jira for issue tracking, and are looking at integrating GreenHopper for project management at the moment. The general feeling among users so far seems to be that GreenHopper is a little clunky. Is there a more straight-forward agile whiteboard software tool out there?

  • Exceptions not being caught

    We have following code: try { // some code throwing MyException } catch (MyException ex) { // [1] // no (re)throw here } catch (Exception ex) { if (ex is MyException) { // [2] } } If we run the code without a debugger attached, everything runs fine. However, IF we debug the code, we don't get to point [1] but [2]. As far as I understand the language specification this should not be possible. Even weirder, this code used run fine even while debugging. The strange behavior started only a few days ago.

  • MVC 4 iframe embedded in desktop page showing mobile view

    I use Index.cshtml and Index.mobile.cshtml. My Index.cshtml is a mobile app landing page containing an iframe to live demo the mobile web app. Index.mobile.cshtml is the mobile web app itself. The problem is, the iframe keeps loading the desktop version itself. As far as I know, I cannot configure the user agent of the iframe to a mobile type. It should be solvable with some routing but I couldn't figure out how!?

  • running same query in different databases

    I wrote a query that I want to run in several access databases. I have 1000+ access databases with the same tables (same names, same fields). So far, I have been manually copying this query from a txt file to the sql view in the access query design screen for each database and then run it. I did not need to change the query language - everything is the same for the 1000 databases. Is there a way to automate this?

  • Imagecache for non image CCKs?

    I'm creating a view with images, videos, audio and documents (books) and I like to shown a picture of each of them in a carousel. Everything works nicely with images and videos as far as we added a image-thumbnail (image filefield) to their CCK but we like to show a default image for audio and documents without changing the original CCK. Is it possible with imagecache (may be with imagecache_custom_code or views_custom_php) or we need to look for a different approach? Thanks for your help, m.

The default implementation is not very appropriate normally and I haven't seen so far a good implementation of a custom membership provider, probably because this is not possible :-) So the question is: In your opinion: which are the reasons for not having membership/role provider as a generic class? When the result becoming large, swapping stated. The question is what memory limit is set for a query, a worker, whatever? Could this limit be configured? Thanks.

    I find myself drawn to the Parsing Expression Grammar formalism for describing domain specific languages, but so far the implementation code I've found has been written in languages like Java and Haskell that aren't web server friendly in the shared hosting environment that my organization has to live with. Does anyone know of any PEG libraries or PackRat Parser Generators for Javascript or PHP? Of course code generators in any languages that can produce Javascript or PHP source code would do the trick.
