    I am converting my exising Application using WPF using MVVM pattern. I have different storyboards in my view . eg. 1. showing splashscreen while loading the app 2. while clicking Menu Toggle button/Radio Button to show the slide in and Slide out animation effect 3. And different mouseover effect for different elements available in the View. How will i call the storyboard using MVVM and which is the best method?. To show the mouse over effect do we really have to use MVVM or code behind?

  • Is there a way to save and restore a set of tabs in a linux file manager?

    For a frequent task, I need a file manager window open with about 8 tabs, each a different location. I'd like to be able to open the tabs once and then save them as a "tab set", so that in future sessions, I can simply open a file manager and restore the saved tab set, without having to open each tab manually. I'm running Mint 16 with Thunar, but could use a different file manager if needed. Is there a way to do this?

    Let say i have 3 different folders that i want to access with CMD C:\Users\Henok\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\TestApp1\Debug C:\Users\Henok\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\TestApp2\Debug C:\Users\Henok\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\TestApp3\Debug I wonder if there is a way to create 3 different cmd shortcuts to access those directory (folders) individually without changing the default cmd directory location.     hi. im currently creating a tile based game, where elements of the games are placed in four different vectors (since there are multiple game objects with different properties, hence stored in different vectors). these game elements themselves contain x and y coordinates similar to how they are stored in a two dimensional array. i was wondering if there was a way to access these vector elements similar to two dimensional array access (currently i am implementing an for loop to cycle the elements while comparing its coordinates). this kinda sucks when i need to refresh my display at every game cycle (since the large number of comparisons and loops). im implementing this in java btw.

  • Why do I get HTTP Code 414 on one network but not another?

    I have an otherwise working iPhone program. A recent change means that it generates some very long URLs (over 4000 characters sometimes) which I know isn't a great idea and I know how to fix -- that's not what I'm asking here. The curious thing is that when I make the connection using a 3G network (Vodafone UK) I get this HTTP "414 Request-URI Too Long" error but when I connect using my local WiFi connection it works just fine. Why would I get different results using different types of network? Could they be routing requests to different servers depending on where the connection originates? Or is there something else at stake here? The corollary questions relate to how common this is. Is it likely to happen whenever I use a cell network or just some networks?

    On a website that I maintain I am required to edit hundreds of images to have a certain canvas size. The images come in all different shapes and sizes. I am trying to figure out a way to automatically edit them so that I dont have to write ineffective AHK scripts to do it. Is there a feature inside of Photoshop (cs3) to do this?     As are are different binary representation of the numbers (for example, take big/little endian), is this cross-platform: some_unsigned_type variable = some_number; // set n-th bit, starting from 1, // right-to-left (least significant-to most significant) variable |= ( 1 << ( n - 1 ) ); // clear the same bit: variable &= ~( 1 << ( n - 1 ) ); In other words, does the compiler always take care of the different binary representation of the unsigned numbers, or it's platform-specific? And what if variable is signed integral type (for example, int) and its value is zero positive negative? What does the Standard say about this? P.S. And, yes, I'm interesting in both - C and C++, please don't tell me they are different languages, because I know this :) I can paste real example, if needed, but the post will become too long

    There's a rumour that public domain name resolvers, like Google Public DNS, are still supposed to work with GeoDNS, because there's some field in the requests that lets them specify for which IP address they are doing a resolution, thus the authoritative servers can give a given resolver different resolutions for different final clients. What's this whole thing called as far as RFCs go, and how does one mimic such resolutions, for testing purposes, e.g. with dig(1)? Else, what other tool is available to accomplish said task?

    Are there still completely new programming languages and -paradigms (which will actually go mainstream and still be used decades after their appearance) to be born? What I'm talking about are groundbreaking things like the rise of object oriented programming, C++, or PHP. With new programming languages I mean that they actually are completely different from what you know, as different as when you set a guy who used assembler for a decade, and even programmed some kind of 3D game in it, in front of something as high-level as PHP, Ruby or Python? Which new paradigms and programming languages are there to come? What could be different about them? Who will possibly create them and how fast will they rise?

  • problem with HttpWebRequest.GetResponse perfomance in multithread applcation

    I have very bad perfomance of HttpWebRequest.GetResponse method when it is called from different thread for different URLs. For example if we have one thread and execute url1 it requires 3sec. If we ececute url1 and url2 in parallet it requires 10sec, first request ended after 8sec and second after 10sec. If we exutet 10 URLs url1, url2, ... url0 it requires 1min 4 sec!!! first request ended after 50 secs! I use GetResponse method. I tried te set DefaultConnectionLimit but it doesn't help. If use BeginGetRequest/EndGetResponse methods it works very fast but only if this methods called from one thread. If from different it is also very slowly. I need to execute Http requests from many threads at one time. ?an anyone ever encountered such a problem? Thank you for any suggestions.

    I'd like to know how best to program three different editions of my C# ASP.NET 3.5 application in VS2008 Professional (which includes a web deployment project). I have a Light, Pro and Ultimate edition (or version) of my application. At the moment I've put all in one solution with three build versions in configuration manager and I use preprocessor directives all over the code (there are around 20 such constructs in some ten thousand lines of code, so it's overseeable): #if light //light code #endif #if pro //pro code #endif //etc... I've read in stackoverflow for hours and thought to encounter how e.g. Microsoft does this with its different Windows editions, but did not find what I expected. Somewhere there is a heavy discussion about if preprocessor directives are evil. What I like with those #if-directives is: the side-by-side code of differences, so I will understand the code for the different editions after six months and the special benefit to NOT give out compiled code of other versions to the customer. OK, long explication, repeated question: What's the best way to go?

I know there are different applications/use-case scenarios which have different encoder used but i want to consdier all that and have a overall usage number(%) My guess is(highest to lowest % of content) - H.264(AVC) DivX MPEG2 VP6 Where do H.263, MPEG4, VC-1, RV, Theora, etc. fit in here.     I am developing an application in C#. I have a folder called myfolder it contains a file called mypoints.bmp. The folder myfolder is in my project folder it is in D drive. The path is D:\Myproject\myfolder\mypoints.bmp. Now, in my program, whereever I need mypoints.bmp I have hardcoded the whole path. When my project is copied in to a different system under C drive, I am not able to run my project because of the hardcoded path. How can I give the path so that there will not be any problem even if it is loaded in to a different system under a different drive.

    I would like some idea about a good workflow for Website Design, with a high degree of "offshoring" (Elance, Odesk etc.). I would to do as much as possible "pre production", with client input, ideas etc. stored in IA diagrams, wireframe mockups etc. in something like a Wiki. Also a like the idea about having different people come up with different design proposals. Wouldlike to have some ideas of costs of different phases and tasks ($, %, hours). With Design I mean roughly the aspects of a site that can be done with client-side tools, especially XHTML and CSS. What other tools should I use than IA diagrams.

We currently have several different csv files from different it systems/databases because each system is missing some information. Fortunatly the product ids are the same so it's possible to relate the data using ids. We need to merge this data into one big csv file so we can import in into our new e-commerce site. My question: is there a general approach when you need to merge csv files with related data into one csv file? Are there any applications or tools that helps you out?

    Hi all I need to connect 2 tables from 2 mysql databases that have 2 different connection strings and each is on the different server. I have this query: cmd = new MySqlCommand(String.Format("INSERT INTO {0} (a,b,c,d) SELECT (a,b,c,d) FROM {1}", ConfigSettings.ReadSetting("main_table"), ConfigSettings.ReadSetting("main_table")), con); So both table have the same columns. Thats why I have only one ConfigSettings.ReadSetting("main_table") for both of them as they are same. I have 2 connection strings and each is pointing to their server: con.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["con1"].ConnectionString; con2.ConnectionString = ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["con2"].ConnectionString; How to make this cmd to be workking with 2 different connection strings and with the same name for the table. Table name will change that's why it is saved in config.

  • Set web browser (or other program) to use specific network

    my PC is connected to 3 different networks: 2 different LAN connections and a VPN connection. when i am connected to the vpn, i cannot browse to the LAN intranet as the DNS is all going through the vpn and it cannot see the domains on the LAN. Is there a way to set firefox/chrome/etc to use a specific connection, so that i don't have to disconnect from vpn to get to the other intranets?

    I'm working on my Matlab code in a number of different locations and it would really help if I could make the code aware of its location on the computer. I think there is a function that gives me exactly this information, but I can't remember what it is called or find it on Google. The idea is that I have a function myFunc that needs a file in its own directory, which can be in different locations on different computers. So in myFunc I want to do something like this: dir = theFunctionImLookingFor; system(fullfile(dir, 'someApp.exe')); (it could also be that the function I'm looking for doesn't return the directory, but the directory + m-file name, but that makes little difference to me) Thanks for any help!
