  • iPhone apps for company-internal use - possible?

    I hope this is still programming related, as SuperUser doesn't seem the appropriate place. Basically I wonder if it is possible to have Applications that are internal to a company on the iPhone? That is something like a companion Application to an Intranet (when Safari and Mail just don't cut it) which wouldn't make sense on the AppStore (and likely wouldn't get approved anyway). Is something like that possible (without Jailbreaking or doing anything else that Apple doesn't normally want)?

  • How to change icon/emblem of a directory from bash

    I'm playing around with get_iplayer (fantastic) it's running every few hours to grab any new episodes of whatever.... After it has finished grabbing anything new i'd like to change the emblem of ~/Videos to add a plus or star (nautilus emblem preferably) Do i go about this via nautilus? Do i need to change something in gnome-config? I'm sure this can't be FS level? Cheers for any links and advice.

    Alright, well this is the deal. I have a page, and then it loads an iframe. When anything inside the iframe is clicked, the main page (iframe parent) just reloads. How can I have it, so that if the iframe parent is reloaded from a click inside the iframe that a certain boolean or something is passed, displaying something different. Thanks

  • How can I compare tables in two different databases using SQL?

    I'm trying to compare the schemas of two tables that exist in different databases. So far, I have this query SELECT * FROM sys.columns WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID('table1') The only thing is that I don't know how to use the sys.columns to reference a database other than the one that the query is connected to. I tried this SELECT * FROM db.sys.columns WHERE object_id = OBJECT_ID('table1') but it didn't find anything. I'm using SQL Server 2005 Any suggestions? thanks!

  • Beginner MYSQL Error - Access Denied

    ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: N O) I've tried EVERYTHING, I've read through pages of answers and no-one seems to know the right one.   • What is a 'better' approach to query/save from server: DTO or Wcf Data Services?

    From my perspective, the Data Services and their query approach is useful when querying simple object graphs from your server-side domain model. But when you want to query complex dependencies I couldn't create anything good out of it. The classic DTO approach is fine-grained and can handle everything, but the downside is that you have to create Dto classes for every type of server-request which is time consuming and you have to synchronize the Dto type with your domain entity/business logic.

  • Using psexec to start Internet Explorer then navigate to a particular URL

    Just like the question says, I want to be able to use psexec to start Internet Explorer, then load a particular website in the browser. I know how to start IE, just can't make a command that goes to a particular webpage. This is what I have so far: psexec "C:\program files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" I just can't figure the syntax for loading anything other than the default start page Thanks!

  • Newbie - what do I need to do with httpd.conf to make CakePHP work correctly?

I'm a total newbie to Cake and not much better with apache; I've done a lot of PHP but always with a server that's already been set up by someone else. So I'm going through the basic blog tutorial, and it says: A Note On mod_rewrite Occasionally a new user will run in to mod_rewrite issues, so I'll mention them marginally here. If the Cake welcome page looks a little funny (no images or css styles), it probably means mod_rewrite isn't functioning on your system. Here are some tips to help get you up and running: Make sure that an .htaccess override is allowed: in your httpd.conf, you should have a section that defines a section for each Directory on your server. Make sure the AllowOverride is set to All for the correct Directory. Make sure you are editing the system httpd.conf rather than a user- or site-specific httpd.conf. For some reason or another, you might have obtained a copy of CakePHP without the needed .htaccess files. This sometimes happens because some operating systems treat files that start with '.' as hidden, and don't copy them. Make sure your copy of CakePHP is from the downloads section of the site or our SVN repository. Make sure you are loading up mod_rewrite correctly! You should see something like LoadModule rewrite_module libexec/httpd/mod_rewrite.so and AddModule mod_rewrite.c in your httpd.conf." I'm using XAMPP on linux. I've found my httpd.conf file in opt/lampp/ etc, but am not sure what I need to do with it. I've searched for "rewrite", and there's only one line: LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so There's nothing about AddModule mod_rewrite.c. Do I just create a Directory section for the directory I've installed Cake in and set AlllowOverride to All? (I created a separate subdirectory of my wwwroot and installed in there, since I also have installs of Joomla and CodeIgniter.) Is there anything else I need to do? My download of Cake did come with two htaccess-type files (._.htaccess and .htaccess) - do I need to do anything with them? Thanks for any help you can provide to this non-server-admin.   • Can a constructor return a NULL value?

    I know constructors don't "return" anything but for instance if I call CMyClass *object = new CMyClass() is there any way to make object to be NULL if the constructor fails? In my case I have some images that have to be loaded and if the file reading fails I'd like it to return null. Is there any way to do that? Thanks in advance.

    According to the MSDN, you can specify an access type parameter to InternetOpen. Two of the options for the dwAccessType parameter are: INTERNET_OPEN_TYPE_DIRECT - Resolves all host names locally. INTERNET_OPEN_TYPE_PRECONFIG - Retrieves the proxy or direct configuration from the registry. Which of these should I use? I don't know which would be "better". We don't want our application to do anything clever, all we want it to do is access the internet in a normal way.

  • How do I preserve installed applications when migrating Ubuntu to another platform?

    I'm looking at maybe moving from an older AMD64 to a new Intel dual-core which is 32 bit. Installation isn't a problem but can I transfer all the installed apps? I haven't been able to find anything so far on Google except where the migration is to a similar platform and file-system. I won't change the filesystem but the platform will be different. Is there something on the lines of the "World" file in Gentoo?

  • iPhone Analytics

    With the recent changes in the SDK agreement, I am kinda confused if I'm able to put any type of analytics into my app. I don't want to do anything nefarious, just want to see which functionality of my app is getting used the most. I was looking at Google Analytic's mobile sdk to track the different views, just like page views but I have a feeling it is not allowed anymore. Can someone clear up if Google Analytics are still allowed; if not, are any analytics allowed?

  • Getting row right after insert returns no result

    I am running unit tests and when I try to insert data in the database and getting it right after, I don't get anything (I have tried with DataAdapter and DataReader). However when I put a 3 seconds sleep (even with 1 second it doesn't work...) between the insert and the select I get the result. In SQL Server Profiler I can see the execution, the insert is well done and is completed about 10 miliseconds before the select begins. I can't find out where this comes

  • How to pass Itemized Overlay from a class to a Listener Class.

    Hey guys, I tried searching the forums on this one, but I wasn't able to find anything on my problem. To describe my problem, everytime my location changes, it redraws the center maker on the map.... Only catch is that it doesn't delete the previous one.   • How do I update the system wallpaper in an Android 1.6 service after changing it with setWallpaper()

    So basically the code "almost" works - the problem is that the system does not appear to know that the system wallpaper have been changed or does not do anything about it. Starting and closing another app manually appears to enforce an update. In an event call the following is done: getApplicationContext().setWallpaper(pWallOne); Is there some way of telling the android system to update the graphics or to do some cheap trick that forces it to? Any help or tip would be very much appreciated!!
