  • Do I need to rebuild the array after putting in a new hot spare?

    - by Shade34321
    So my experience with RAID is minimal. So I figured I'd come and ask here. We have a 16 drive RAID system that have 15 drives in RAID 5 with a hot spare left over. Recently one of the drives in the RAID was giving errors so I cloned it over to the hot spare and put a new drive in it's spot. I made the new drive the hot spare as I was told. I was told to rebuild the array after putting in the new drive as a hot spare so I tried and wasn't able to. So my question is do I need to rebuild it and if so why did it tell me I couldn't. Thanks! UPDATE: So I've come back up to work and looked at the RAID and it pulled in the hot spare into the raid and kicked out another drive.

  • RAID0 array of USB 2 disks, both connected to a single hub. Any benefit?

    - by Josh
    I have two unused USB 2 drives. I wanted to stripe them in a RAID0 configuration for fast disk access for virtual machines. (I find running a VMware virtual machine off a USB2 drive to be painfully slow. Especially Windows Vista) If I have both USB drives attached to the same USB2 hub, will that negate any benefit I gain by creating a RAID0 array? That is to say, is the speed of USB2 the limiting factor or is the speed of the drives? Would I get better performance by attaching one or both drives directly to my computer?

  • How likely can my data be recovered after Windows CHKDSK performed on a degraded RAID 5 array?

    - by chrisling106
    Hello there, We have a RAID 5 setup with 3 SATA disks, #2 went down as reported on the pre-POST screen. Unfortunately, for some reason out of my control, the system was rebooted with a degraded RAID :-O Windows XP (64-bit) loaded, CHKDSK ran automatically and done its recovery! From that point onwards, the following error prompts every time even in Safe Mode: lsass.exe - The endpoint format is invalid I took those 3 disks to the data recovery expert and need to wait at least 2-4 days for results. There are 2 VMs on multiple files stored in this RAID 5 array, and there's no backup! Sorry, I just inherited the system from an ex-staff who has left the company 2 months before I joined. How likely the data can be recovered?

  • Cisco PIX firewall blocking inbound Exchange email

    - by sumsaricum
    [Cisco PIX, SBS2003] I can telnet server port 25 from inside but not outside, hence all inbound email is blocked. (as an aside, inbox on iPhones do not list/update emails, but calendar works a charm) I'm inexperienced in Cisco PIX and looking for some assistance before mails start bouncing :/ interface ethernet0 • How to move an existing Win7 setup to a RAID-1 array?

    - by Matthew Scharley
    Currently I have a the following setup: Drive A/B: Identical HDD's Drive C: 2TB external drive with plenty of space currently. Hardware RAID controller Currently I have Drive A which is my boot drive (Win7), and Drive C which is a data drive, and Drive B which I only recently received and is blank. What is the best way of moving off of Drive A, setting up the hardware RAID and then migrating my data back onto the RAID array? I'm proficient with Linux, but I'm not sure if I can get away with simply using dd here. There is currently enough free space on Drive C to take 5-6 copies of a disk image of Drive A, so space isn't an issue.

  • How to remove a drive from a 2-drive RAID 5 array?

    - by DrSAR
    There is some information available on shape changes in RAID arrays but I'm a little nervous and would like confirmation: Problem: I have 2 500GB drive as software raid 5 (mdadm). I would like to free one of the two drives since RAID-redundancy is for wimps... Can I just mdadm --grow --array-size=1 followed by a mdadm --grow --raid-disks 1? This seems too simple. How would I specify which drive gets freed? Part of the reason for this maneuver is that I don't have additional space to run a backup.

  • Rendering a WPF Network Map/Graph layout - Manual? PathListBox? Something Else?

    - by Ben Von Handorf
    I'm writing code to present the user with a simplified network map. At any given time, the map is focused on a specific item... say a router or a server. Based on the focused item, other network entities are grouped into sets (i.e. subnets or domains) and then rendered around the focused item. Lines would represent connections and groups would be visually grouped inside a rectangle or ellipse. Panning and zooming are required features. An item can be selected to display more information in a "properties" style window. An item could also be double-clicked to re-focus the entire network map on that item. At that point, the entire map would be re-calculated. I am using MVVM without any framework, as of yet. Assume the logic for grouping items and determining what should be shown or not is all in place. I'm looking for the best way to approach the UI layout. So far, I'm aware of the following options: Use a canvas for layout (inside a ScrollViewer to handle the panning). Have my ViewModel make use of a Layout Manager type of class, which would handle assigning all the layout properties (Top, Left, etc.). Bind my set of display items to an ItemsControl and use Data Templates to handle the actual rendering. The drawbacks with this approach: Highly manual layout on my part. Lots of calculation. I have to handle item selection manually. Computation of connecting lines is manual. The Pros of this approach: I can draw additional lines between child subnets as appropriate (manually). Additional LayoutManagers could be added later to render the display differently. This could probably be wrapped up into some sort of a GraphLayout control to be re-used. Present the focused item at the center of the display and then use a PathListBox for layout of the additional items. Have my ViewModel expose a simple list of things to be drawn and bind them to the PathListBox. Override the ListBoxItem Template to also create a line geometry from the borders of the focused item (tricky) to the bound item. Use DataTemplates to handle the case where the item being bound is a subnet, in which case we would use another PathListBox in the template to display items inside the subnet. The drawbacks with this approach: Selected Item synchronization across multiple `PathListBox`es. Only one item on the whole graph can be selected at a time, but each child PathListBox maintains its own selection. Also, subnets cannot be selected, but would be selectable without additional work. Drawing the connecting lines is going to be a bit of trickery in the ListBoxItem template, since I need to know the correct side of the focused item to connect to. The pros of this approach: I get to stay out of the layout business, more. I'm looking for any advice or thoughts from others who have encountered similar issues or who have more WPF experience than I. I'm using WPF 4, so any new tricks are legal and encouraged.

  • Removing google mail markers with jquery after getting them from xml

    - by sebastian
    Hi there, I'm trying to create a page that contains a google map. The map is filled with markers from an xml file. I just can't figure out how to remove "old" markers, that don't match the latest user input. At the moment my js stops after the very first xml item. The clearList.push(marker); is supposed to put the generated marker away for later usage. When the user hits the search button I want all markers to be gone and use clearMarkers();. Maybe someone here can help Sebastian Here is my JavaScript: $(document).ready(function() { $("#map").css({height: 650}); var clearList = []; var myLatLng = new google.maps.LatLng(52.518143, 13.372879); MYMAP.init('#map', myLatLng, 11); $("#showmarkers").click(function(e){ clearMarkers(); MYMAP.placeMarkers('markers.xml'); }); }); function clearMarkers() { $(clearList).each(function () { this.setmap(null); }); clearList = []; } var MYMAP = { map: null, bounds: null } MYMAP.init = function(selector, latLng, zoom) { var myOptions = { zoom:zoom, center: latLng, mapTypeId: google.maps.MapTypeId.HYBRID } this.map = new google.maps.Map($(selector)[0], myOptions); this.bounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds(); } MYMAP.placeMarkers = function(filename) { $.get(filename, function(xml){ $(xml).find("marker").each(function(){ // read values from xml for searching var platzart = $(this).find('platzart').text(); var ort = $(this).find('ort').text(); var open = $(this).find('open').text(); if (platzart =="Kunstrasen" && $('#kunstrasen').attr('checked') || platzart =="Rasen" && $('#rasen').attr('checked') || platzart =="Tartan" && $('#tartan').attr('checked') || platzart =="Boltzplatz" && $('#boltzplatz').attr('checked') ){ // read values from xml for additional info var name = $(this).find('name').text(); var plz = $(this).find('plz').text(); var note = $(this).find('note').text(); var adress = $(this).find('adress').text(); // create a new LatLng point for the marker var lat = $(this).find('lat').text(); var lng = $(this).find('lng').text(); var point = new google.maps.LatLng(parseFloat(lat),parseFloat(lng)); // extend the bounds to include the new point MYMAP.bounds.extend(point); // create new marker var marker = new google.maps.Marker({ position: point, map: MYMAP.map }); clearList.push(marker); // add onclick overlay var infoWindow = new google.maps.InfoWindow(); var html='<strong>'+name+'</strong.><br />'+platzart; google.maps.event.addListener(marker, 'click', function() { infoWindow.setContent(html); infoWindow.open(MYMAP.map, marker); }); } MYMAP.map.fitBounds(MYMAP.bounds); }); }); } Thanks in advance

  • Polymorphic associations in CakePHP2

    - by Joseph
    I have 3 models, Page , Course and Content Page and Course contain meta data and Content contains HTML content. Page and Course both hasMany Content Content belongsTo Page and Course To avoid having page_id and course_id fields in Content (because I want this to scale to more than just 2 models) I am looking at using Polymorphic Associations. I started by using the Polymorphic Behavior in the Bakery but it is generating waaay too many SQL queries for my liking and it's also throwing an "Illegal Offset" error which I don't know how to fix (it was written in 2008 and nobody seems to have referred to it recently so perhaps the error is due to it not having been designed for Cake 2?) Anyway, I've found that I can almost do everything I need by hardcoding the associations in the models as such: Page Model CREATE TABLE `pages` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `title` varchar(255) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL, `slug` varchar(255) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL, `created` datetime NOT NULL, `updated` datetime NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) <?php class Page extends AppModel { var $name = 'Page'; var $hasMany = array( 'Content' => array( 'className' => 'Content', 'foreignKey' => 'foreign_id', 'conditions' => array('Content.class' => 'Page'), ) ); } ?> Course Model CREATE TABLE `courses` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `title` varchar(255) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL, `slug` varchar(255) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL, `created` datetime NOT NULL, `updated` datetime NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) <?php class Course extends AppModel { var $name = 'Course'; var $hasMany = array( 'Content' => array( 'className' => 'Content', 'foreignKey' => 'foreign_id', 'conditions' => array('Content.class' => 'Course'), ) ); } ?> Content model CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `contents` ( `id` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `class` varchar(30) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL, `foreign_id` int(11) unsigned NOT NULL, `title` varchar(100) COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL, `content` text COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL, `created` datetime DEFAULT NULL, `modified` datetime DEFAULT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) <?php class Content extends AppModel { var $name = 'Content'; var $belongsTo = array( 'Page' => array( 'foreignKey' => 'foreign_id', 'conditions' => array('Content.class' => 'Page') ), 'Course' => array( 'foreignKey' => 'foreign_id', 'conditions' => array('Content.class' => 'Course') ) ); } ?> The good thing is that $this->Content->find('first') only generates a single SQL query instead of 3 (as was the case with the Polymorphic Behavior) but the problem is that the dataset returned includes both of the belongsTo models, whereas it should only really return the one that exists. Here's how the returned data looks: array( 'Content' => array( 'id' => '1', 'class' => 'Course', 'foreign_id' => '1', 'title' => 'something about this course', 'content' => 'The content here', 'created' => null, 'modified' => null ), 'Page' => array( 'id' => null, 'title' => null, 'slug' => null, 'created' => null, 'updated' => null ), 'Course' => array( 'id' => '1', 'title' => 'Course name', 'slug' => 'name-of-the-course', 'created' => '2012-10-11 00:00:00', 'updated' => '2012-10-11 00:00:00' ) ) I only want it to return one of either Page or Course depending on which one is specified in Content.class UPDATE: Combining the Page and Course models would seem like the obvious solution to this problem but the schemas I have shown above are just shown for the purpose of this question. • Quickest way to compare a bunch of array or list of values.

    - by zapping
    Can you please let me know on the quickest and efficient way to compare a large set of values. Its like there are a list of parent codes(string) and each code has a series of child values(string). The child lists have to be compared with each other and find out duplicates and count how many times they repeat. code1(code1_value1, code1_value2, code3_value3, ..., code1_valueN); code2(code2_value1, code1_value2, code2_value3, ..., code2_valueN); code3(code2_value1, code3_value2, code3_value3, ..., code3_valueN); . . . codeN(codeN_value1, codeN_value2, codeN_value3, ..., codeN_valueN); The lists are huge say like there are 100 parent codes and each has about 250 values in them. There will not be duplicates within a code list. Doing it in java and the solution i could figure out is. Store the values of first set of code in as codeMap.put(codeValue, duplicateCount). The count initialized to 0. Then compare the rest of the values with this. If its in the map then increment the count otherwise append it to the map. The downfall of this is to get the duplicates. Another iteration needs to be performed on a very large list. An alternative is to maintain another hashmap for duplicates like duplicateCodeMap.put(codeValue, duplicateCount) and change the initial hashmap to codeMap.put(codeValue, codeValue). Speed is what is requirement. Hope one of you can help me with it.

  • Step by Step / Deep explain: The Power of (Co)Yoneda (preferably in scala) through Coroutines

    - by Mzk
    some background code /** FunctorStr: ? F[-]. (? A B. Thus providing map fusion for free (? is this kind of like a cut rule for map ?). But I see that Coyoneda is a functor for any type constructor F regardless of F being a Functor, and that I don't fully grasp. Now I'm in a situation where I'm trying to define a Coroutine type, (I'm looking at https://www.fpcomplete.com/school/to-infinity-and-beyond/pick-of-the-week/coroutines-for-streaming/part-2-coroutines for the types to get started with) case class Coroutine[S[_], M[_], R](resume: M[CoroutineState[S, M, R]]) sealed trait CoroutineState[S[_], M[_], R] object CoroutineState { case class Run[S[_], M[_], R](x: S[Coroutine[S, M, R]]) extends CoroutineState[S, M, R] case class Done[R](x: R) extends CoroutineState[Nothing, Nothing, R] class CoroutineStateFunctor[S[_], M[_]](F: FunctorStr[S]) extends FunctorStr[({ type l[x] = CoroutineState[S, M, x]})#l] { override def map[A, B](f : A => B) : CoroutineState[S, M, A] => CoroutineState[S, M, B] = { ??? } } } and I think that if I understood Coyoneda better I could leverage it to make S & M type constructors functors way easy, plus I see Coyoneda potentially playing a role in defining recursion schemes as the functor requirement is pervasive. So how could I use coyoneda to make type constructors functors like for example coroutine state? or something like a Pause functor ?

  • Upload File to Windows Azure Blob in Chunks through ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript and HTML5

    - by Shaun
    Originally posted on: http://geekswithblogs.net/shaunxu/archive/2013/07/01/upload-file-to-windows-azure-blob-in-chunks-through-asp.net.aspxMany people are using Windows Azure Blob Storage to store their data in the cloud. Blob storage provides 99.9% availability with easy-to-use API through .NET SDK and HTTP REST. For example, we can store JavaScript files, images, documents in blob storage when we are building an ASP.NET web application on a Web Role in Windows Azure. Or we can store our VHD files in blob and mount it as a hard drive in our cloud service. If you are familiar with Windows Azure, you should know that there are two kinds of blob: page blob and block blob. The page blob is optimized for random read and write, which is very useful when you need to store VHD files. The block blob is optimized for sequential/chunk read and write, which has more common usage. Since we can upload block blob in blocks through BlockBlob.PutBlock, and them commit them as a whole blob with invoking the BlockBlob.PutBlockList, it is very powerful to upload large files, as we can upload blocks in parallel, and provide pause-resume feature. There are many documents, articles and blog posts described on how to upload a block blob. Most of them are focus on the server side, which means when you had received a big file, stream or binaries, how to upload them into blob storage in blocks through .NET SDK.  But the problem is, how can we upload these large files from client side, for example, a browser. This questioned to me when I was working with a Chinese customer to help them build a network disk production on top of azure. The end users upload their files from the web portal, and then the files will be stored in blob storage from the Web Role. My goal is to find the best way to transform the file from client (end user’s machine) to the server (Web Role) through browser. In this post I will demonstrate and describe what I had done, to upload large file in chunks with high speed, and save them as blocks into Windows Azure Blob Storage.   Traditional Upload, Works with Limitation The simplest way to implement this requirement is to create a web page with a form that contains a file input element and a submit button. 1: @using (Html.BeginForm("About", "Index", FormMethod.Post, new { enctype = "multipart/form-data" })) 2: { 3: <input type="file" name="file" /> 4: <input type="submit" value="upload" /> 5: } And then in the backend controller, we retrieve the whole content of this file and upload it in to the blob storage through .NET SDK. We can split the file in blocks and upload them in parallel and commit. The code had been well blogged in the community. 1: [HttpPost] 2: public ActionResult About(HttpPostedFileBase file) 3: { 4: var container = _client.GetContainerReference("test"); 5: container.CreateIfNotExists(); 6: var blob = container.GetBlockBlobReference(file.FileName); 7: var blockDataList = new Dictionary<string, byte[]>(); 8: using (var stream = file.InputStream) 9: { 10: var blockSizeInKB = 1024; 11: var offset = 0; 12: var index = 0; 13: while (offset < stream.Length) 14: { 15: var readLength = Math.Min(1024 * blockSizeInKB, (int)stream.Length - offset); 16: var blockData = new byte[readLength]; 17: offset += stream.Read(blockData, 0, readLength); 18: blockDataList.Add(Convert.ToBase64String(BitConverter.GetBytes(index)), blockData); 19:  20: index++; 21: } 22: } 23:  24: Parallel.ForEach(blockDataList, (bi) => 25: { 26: blob.PutBlock(bi.Key, new MemoryStream(bi.Value), null); 27: }); 28: blob.PutBlockList(blockDataList.Select(b => b.Key).ToArray()); 29:  30: return RedirectToAction("About"); 31: } This works perfect if we selected an image, a music or a small video to upload. But if I selected a large file, let’s say a 6GB HD-movie, after upload for about few minutes the page will be shown as below and the upload will be terminated. In ASP.NET there is a limitation of request length and the maximized request length is defined in the web.config file. It’s a number which less than about 4GB. So if we want to upload a really big file, we cannot simply implement in this way. Also, in Windows Azure, a cloud service network load balancer will terminate the connection if exceed the timeout period. From my test the timeout looks like 2 - 3 minutes. Hence, when we need to upload a large file we cannot just use the basic HTML elements. Besides the limitation mentioned above, the simple HTML file upload cannot provide rich upload experience such as chunk upload, pause and pause-resume. So we need to find a better way to upload large file from the client to the server.   Upload in Chunks through HTML5 and JavaScript In order to break those limitation mentioned above we will try to upload the large file in chunks. This takes some benefit to us such as - No request size limitation: Since we upload in chunks, we can define the request size for each chunks regardless how big the entire file is. - No timeout problem: The size of chunks are controlled by us, which means we should be able to make sure request for each chunk upload will not exceed the timeout period of both ASP.NET and Windows Azure load balancer. It was a big challenge to upload big file in chunks until we have HTML5. There are some new features and improvements introduced in HTML5 and we will use them to implement our solution.   In HTML5, the File interface had been improved with a new method called “slice”. It can be used to read part of the file by specifying the start byte index and the end byte index. For example if the entire file was 1024 bytes, file.slice(512, 768) will read the part of this file from the 512nd byte to 768th byte, and return a new object of interface called "Blob”, which you can treat as an array of bytes. In fact,  a Blob object represents a file-like object of immutable, raw data. The File interface is based on Blob, inheriting blob functionality and expanding it to support files on the user's system. For more information about the Blob please refer here. File and Blob is very useful to implement the chunk upload. We will use File interface to represent the file the user selected from the browser and then use File.slice to read the file in chunks in the size we wanted. For example, if we wanted to upload a 10MB file with 512KB chunks, then we can read it in 512KB blobs by using File.slice in a loop.   Assuming we have a web page as below. User can select a file, an input box to specify the block size in KB and a button to start upload. 1: <div> 2: <input type="file" id="upload_files" name="files[]" /><br /> 3: Block Size: <input type="number" id="block_size" value="512" name="block_size" />KB<br /> 4: <input type="button" id="upload_button_blob" name="upload" value="upload (blob)" /> 5: </div> Then we can have the JavaScript function to upload the file in chunks when user clicked the button. 1: <script type="text/javascript"> 1: 2: $(function () { 3: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 4: }); 5: });</script> Firstly we need to ensure the client browser supports the interfaces we are going to use. Just try to invoke the File, Blob and FormData from the “window” object. If any of them is “undefined” the condition result will be “false” which means your browser doesn’t support these premium feature and it’s time for you to get your browser updated. FormData is another new feature we are going to use in the future. It could generate a temporary form for us. We will use this interface to create a form with chunk and associated metadata when invoked the service through ajax. 1: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 2: // assert the browser support html5 3: if (window.File && window.Blob && window.FormData) { 4: alert("Your brwoser is awesome, let's rock!"); 5: } 6: else { 7: alert("Oh man plz update to a modern browser before try is cool stuff out."); 8: return; 9: } 10: }); Each browser supports these interfaces by their own implementation and currently the Blob, File and File.slice are supported by Chrome 21, FireFox 13, IE 10, Opera 12 and Safari 5.1 or higher. After that we worked on the files the user selected one by one since in HTML5, user can select multiple files in one file input box. 1: var files = $("#upload_files")[0].files; 2: for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) { 3: var file = files[i]; 4: var fileSize = file.size; 5: var fileName = file.name; 6: } Next, we calculated the start index and end index for each chunks based on the size the user specified from the browser. We put them into an array with the file name and the index, which will be used when we upload chunks into Windows Azure Blob Storage as blocks since we need to specify the target blob name and the block index. At the same time we will store the list of all indexes into another variant which will be used to commit blocks into blob in Azure Storage once all chunks had been uploaded successfully. 1: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 2: // assert the browser support html5 3: ... ... 4: // start to upload each files in chunks 5: var files = $("#upload_files")[0].files; 6: for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) { 7: var file = files[i]; 8: var fileSize = file.size; 9: var fileName = file.name; 10:  11: // calculate the start and end byte index for each blocks(chunks) 12: // with the index, file name and index list for future using 13: var blockSizeInKB = $("#block_size").val(); 14: var blockSize = blockSizeInKB * 1024; 15: var blocks = []; 16: var offset = 0; 17: var index = 0; 18: var list = ""; 19: while (offset < fileSize) { 20: var start = offset; 21: var end = Math.min(offset + blockSize, fileSize); 22:  23: blocks.push({ 24: name: fileName, 25: index: index, 26: start: start, 27: end: end 28: }); 29: list += index + ","; 30:  31: offset = end; 32: index++; 33: } 34: } 35: }); Now we have all chunks’ information ready. The next step should be upload them one by one to the server side, and at the server side when received a chunk it will upload as a block into Blob Storage, and finally commit them with the index list through BlockBlobClient.PutBlockList. But since all these invokes are ajax calling, which means not synchronized call. So we need to introduce a new JavaScript library to help us coordinate the asynchronize operation, which named “async.js”. You can download this JavaScript library here, and you can find the document here. I will not explain this library too much in this post. We will put all procedures we want to execute as a function array, and pass into the proper function defined in async.js to let it help us to control the execution sequence, in series or in parallel. Hence we will define an array and put the function for chunk upload into this array. 1: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 2: // assert the browser support html5 3: ... ... 4:  5: // start to upload each files in chunks 6: var files = $("#upload_files")[0].files; 7: for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) { 8: var file = files[i]; 9: var fileSize = file.size; 10: var fileName = file.name; 11: // calculate the start and end byte index for each blocks(chunks) 12: // with the index, file name and index list for future using 13: ... ... 14:  15: // define the function array and push all chunk upload operation into this array 16: blocks.forEach(function (block) { 17: putBlocks.push(function (callback) { 18: }); 19: }); 20: } 21: }); 22: }); As you can see, I used File.slice method to read each chunks based on the start and end byte index we calculated previously, and constructed a temporary HTML form with the file name, chunk index and chunk data through another new feature in HTML5 named FormData. Then post this form to the backend server through jQuery.ajax. This is the key part of our solution. 1: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 2: // assert the browser support html5 3: ... ... 4: // start to upload each files in chunks 5: var files = $("#upload_files")[0].files; 6: for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) { 7: var file = files[i]; 8: var fileSize = file.size; 9: var fileName = file.name; 10: // calculate the start and end byte index for each blocks(chunks) 11: // with the index, file name and index list for future using 12: ... ... 13: // define the function array and push all chunk upload operation into this array 14: blocks.forEach(function (block) { 15: putBlocks.push(function (callback) { 16: // load blob based on the start and end index for each chunks 17: var blob = file.slice(block.start, block.end); 18: // put the file name, index and blob into a temporary from 19: var fd = new FormData(); 20: fd.append("name", block.name); 21: fd.append("index", block.index); 22: fd.append("file", blob); 23: // post the form to backend service (asp.net mvc controller action) 24: $.ajax({ 25: url: "/Home/UploadInFormData", 26: data: fd, 27: processData: false, 28: contentType: "multipart/form-data", 29: type: "POST", 30: success: function (result) { 31: if (!result.success) { 32: alert(result.error); 33: } 34: callback(null, block.index); 35: } 36: }); 37: }); 38: }); 39: } 40: }); Then we will invoke these functions one by one by using the async.js. And once all functions had been executed successfully I invoked another ajax call to the backend service to commit all these chunks (blocks) as the blob in Windows Azure Storage. 1: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 2: // assert the browser support html5 3: ... ... 4: // start to upload each files in chunks 5: var files = $("#upload_files")[0].files; 6: for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) { 7: var file = files[i]; 8: var fileSize = file.size; 9: var fileName = file.name; 10: // calculate the start and end byte index for each blocks(chunks) 11: // with the index, file name and index list for future using 12: ... ... 13: // define the function array and push all chunk upload operation into this array 14: ... ... 15: // invoke the functions one by one 16: // then invoke the commit ajax call to put blocks into blob in azure storage 17: async.series(putBlocks, function (error, result) { 18: var data = { 19: name: fileName, 20: list: list 21: }; 22: $.post("/Home/Commit", data, function (result) { 23: if (!result.success) { 24: alert(result.error); 25: } 26: else { 27: alert("done!"); 28: } 29: }); 30: }); 31: } 32: }); That’s all in the client side. The outline of our logic would be - Calculate the start and end byte index for each chunks based on the block size. - Defined the functions of reading the chunk form file and upload the content to the backend service through ajax. - Execute the functions defined in previous step with “async.js”. - Commit the chunks by invoking the backend service in Windows Azure Storage finally.   Save Chunks as Blocks into Blob Storage In above we finished the client size JavaScript code. It uploaded the file in chunks to the backend service which we are going to implement in this step. We will use ASP.NET MVC as our backend service, and it will receive the chunks, upload into Windows Azure Bob Storage in blocks, then finally commit as one blob. As in the client side we uploaded chunks by invoking the ajax call to the URL "/Home/UploadInFormData", I created a new action under the Index controller and it only accepts HTTP POST request. 1: [HttpPost] 2: public JsonResult UploadInFormData() 3: { 4: var error = string.Empty; 5: try 6: { 7: } 8: catch (Exception e) 9: { 10: error = e.ToString(); 11: } 12:  13: return new JsonResult() 14: { 15: Data = new 16: { 17: success = string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(error), 18: error = error 19: } 20: }; 21: } Then I retrieved the file name, index and the chunk content from the Request.Form object, which was passed from our client side. And then, used the Windows Azure SDK to create a blob container (in this case we will use the container named “test”.) and create a blob reference with the blob name (same as the file name). Then uploaded the chunk as a block of this blob with the index, since in Blob Storage each block must have an index (ID) associated with so that finally we can put all blocks as one blob by specifying their block ID list. 1: [HttpPost] 2: public JsonResult UploadInFormData() 3: { 4: var error = string.Empty; 5: try 6: { 7: var name = Request.Form["name"]; 8: var index = int.Parse(Request.Form["index"]); 9: var file = Request.Files[0]; 10: var id = Convert.ToBase64String(BitConverter.GetBytes(index)); 11:  12: var container = _client.GetContainerReference("test"); 13: container.CreateIfNotExists(); 14: var blob = container.GetBlockBlobReference(name); 15: blob.PutBlock(id, file.InputStream, null); 16: } 17: catch (Exception e) 18: { 19: error = e.ToString(); 20: } 21:  22: return new JsonResult() 23: { 24: Data = new 25: { 26: success = string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(error), 27: error = error 28: } 29: }; 30: } Next, I created another action to commit the blocks into blob once all chunks had been uploaded. Similarly, I retrieved the blob name from the Request.Form. I also retrieved the chunks ID list, which is the block ID list from the Request.Form in a string format, split them as a list, then invoked the BlockBlob.PutBlockList method. After that our blob will be shown in the container and ready to be download. 1: [HttpPost] 2: public JsonResult Commit() 3: { 4: var error = string.Empty; 5: try 6: { 7: var name = Request.Form["name"]; 8: var list = Request.Form["list"]; 9: var ids = list 10: .Split(',') 11: .Where(id => !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(id)) 12: .Select(id => Convert.ToBase64String(BitConverter.GetBytes(int.Parse(id)))) 13: .ToArray(); 14:  15: var container = _client.GetContainerReference("test"); 16: container.CreateIfNotExists(); 17: var blob = container.GetBlockBlobReference(name); 18: blob.PutBlockList(ids); 19: } 20: catch (Exception e) 21: { 22: error = e.ToString(); 23: } 24:  25: return new JsonResult() 26: { 27: Data = new 28: { 29: success = string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(error), 30: error = error 31: } 32: }; 33: } Now we finished all code we need. The whole process of uploading would be like this below. Below is the full client side JavaScript code. 1: <script type="text/javascript" src="~/Scripts/async.js"></script> 2: <script type="text/javascript"> 3: $(function () { 4: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 5: // assert the browser support html5 6: if (window.File && window.Blob && window.FormData) { 7: alert("Your brwoser is awesome, let's rock!"); 8: } 9: else { 10: alert("Oh man plz update to a modern browser before try is cool stuff out."); 11: return; 12: } 13:  14: // start to upload each files in chunks 15: var files = $("#upload_files")[0].files; 16: for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) { 17: var file = files[i]; 18: var fileSize = file.size; 19: var fileName = file.name; 20:  21: // calculate the start and end byte index for each blocks(chunks) 22: // with the index, file name and index list for future using 23: var blockSizeInKB = $("#block_size").val(); 24: var blockSize = blockSizeInKB * 1024; 25: var blocks = []; 26: var offset = 0; 27: var index = 0; 28: var list = ""; 29: while (offset < fileSize) { 30: var start = offset; 31: var end = Math.min(offset + blockSize, fileSize); 32:  33: blocks.push({ 34: name: fileName, 35: index: index, 36: start: start, 37: end: end 38: }); 39: list += index + ","; 40:  41: offset = end; 42: index++; 43: } 44:  45: // define the function array and push all chunk upload operation into this array 46: var putBlocks = []; 47: blocks.forEach(function (block) { 48: putBlocks.push(function (callback) { 49: // load blob based on the start and end index for each chunks 50: var blob = file.slice(block.start, block.end); 51: // put the file name, index and blob into a temporary from 52: var fd = new FormData(); 53: fd.append("name", block.name); 54: fd.append("index", block.index); 55: fd.append("file", blob); 56: // post the form to backend service (asp.net mvc controller action) 57: $.ajax({ 58: url: "/Home/UploadInFormData", 59: data: fd, 60: processData: false, 61: contentType: "multipart/form-data", 62: type: "POST", 63: success: function (result) { 64: if (!result.success) { 65: alert(result.error); 66: } 67: callback(null, block.index); 68: } 69: }); 70: }); 71: }); 72:  73: // invoke the functions one by one 74: // then invoke the commit ajax call to put blocks into blob in azure storage 75: async.series(putBlocks, function (error, result) { 76: var data = { 77: name: fileName, 78: list: list 79: }; 80: $.post("/Home/Commit", data, function (result) { 81: if (!result.success) { 82: alert(result.error); 83: } 84: else { 85: alert("done!"); 86: } 87: }); 88: }); 89: } 90: }); 91: }); 92: </script> And below is the full ASP.NET MVC controller code. 1: public class HomeController : Controller 2: { 3: private CloudStorageAccount _account; 4: private CloudBlobClient _client; 5:  6: public HomeController() 7: : base() 8: { 9: _account = CloudStorageAccount.Parse(CloudConfigurationManager.GetSetting("DataConnectionString")); 10: _client = _account.CreateCloudBlobClient(); 11: } 12:  13: public ActionResult Index() 14: { 15: ViewBag.Message = "Modify this template to jump-start your ASP.NET MVC application."; 16:  17: return View(); 18: } 19:  20: [HttpPost] 21: public JsonResult UploadInFormData() 22: { 23: var error = string.Empty; 24: try 25: { 26: var name = Request.Form["name"]; 27: var index = int.Parse(Request.Form["index"]); 28: var file = Request.Files[0]; 29: var id = Convert.ToBase64String(BitConverter.GetBytes(index)); 30:  31: var container = _client.GetContainerReference("test"); 32: container.CreateIfNotExists(); 33: var blob = container.GetBlockBlobReference(name); 34: blob.PutBlock(id, file.InputStream, null); 35: } 36: catch (Exception e) 37: { 38: error = e.ToString(); 39: } 40:  41: return new JsonResult() 42: { 43: Data = new 44: { 45: success = string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(error), 46: error = error 47: } 48: }; 49: } 50:  51: [HttpPost] 52: public JsonResult Commit() 53: { 54: var error = string.Empty; 55: try 56: { 57: var name = Request.Form["name"]; 58: var list = Request.Form["list"]; 59: var ids = list 60: .Split(',') 61: .Where(id => !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(id)) 62: .Select(id => Convert.ToBase64String(BitConverter.GetBytes(int.Parse(id)))) 63: .ToArray(); 64:  65: var container = _client.GetContainerReference("test"); 66: container.CreateIfNotExists(); 67: var blob = container.GetBlockBlobReference(name); 68: blob.PutBlockList(ids); 69: } 70: catch (Exception e) 71: { 72: error = e.ToString(); 73: } 74:  75: return new JsonResult() 76: { 77: Data = new 78: { 79: success = string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(error), 80: error = error 81: } 82: }; 83: } 84: } And if we selected a file from the browser we will see our application will upload chunks in the size we specified to the server through ajax call in background, and then commit all chunks in one blob. Then we can find the blob in our Windows Azure Blob Storage.   Optimized by Parallel Upload In previous example we just uploaded our file in chunks. This solved the problem that ASP.NET MVC request content size limitation as well as the Windows Azure load balancer timeout. But it might introduce the performance problem since we uploaded chunks in sequence. In order to improve the upload performance we could modify our client side code a bit to make the upload operation invoked in parallel. The good news is that, “async.js” library provides the parallel execution function. If you remembered the code we invoke the service to upload chunks, it utilized “async.series” which means all functions will be executed in sequence. Now we will change this code to “async.parallel”. This will invoke all functions in parallel. 1: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 2: // assert the browser support html5 3: ... ... 4: // start to upload each files in chunks 5: var files = $("#upload_files")[0].files; 6: for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) { 7: var file = files[i]; 8: var fileSize = file.size; 9: var fileName = file.name; 10: // calculate the start and end byte index for each blocks(chunks) 11: // with the index, file name and index list for future using 12: ... ... 13: // define the function array and push all chunk upload operation into this array 14: ... ... 15: // invoke the functions one by one 16: // then invoke the commit ajax call to put blocks into blob in azure storage 17: async.parallel(putBlocks, function (error, result) { 18: var data = { 19: name: fileName, 20: list: list 21: }; 22: $.post("/Home/Commit", data, function (result) { 23: if (!result.success) { 24: alert(result.error); 25: } 26: else { 27: alert("done!"); 28: } 29: }); 30: }); 31: } 32: }); In this way all chunks will be uploaded to the server side at the same time to maximize the bandwidth usage. This should work if the file was not very large and the chunk size was not very small. But for large file this might introduce another problem that too many ajax calls are sent to the server at the same time. So the best solution should be, upload the chunks in parallel with maximum concurrency limitation. The code below specified the concurrency limitation to 4, which means at the most only 4 ajax calls could be invoked at the same time. 1: $("#upload_button_blob").click(function () { 2: // assert the browser support html5 3: ... ... 4: // start to upload each files in chunks 5: var files = $("#upload_files")[0].files; 6: for (var i = 0; i < files.length; i++) { 7: var file = files[i]; 8: var fileSize = file.size; 9: var fileName = file.name; 10: // calculate the start and end byte index for each blocks(chunks) 11: // with the index, file name and index list for future using 12: ... ... 13: // define the function array and push all chunk upload operation into this array 14: ... ... 15: // invoke the functions one by one 16: // then invoke the commit ajax call to put blocks into blob in azure storage 17: async.parallelLimit(putBlocks, 4, function (error, result) { 18: var data = { 19: name: fileName, 20: list: list 21: }; 22: $.post("/Home/Commit", data, function (result) { 23: if (!result.success) { 24: alert(result.error); 25: } 26: else { 27: alert("done!"); 28: } 29: }); 30: }); 31: } 32: });   Summary In this post we discussed how to upload files in chunks to the backend service and then upload them into Windows Azure Blob Storage in blocks. We focused on the frontend side and leverage three new feature introduced in HTML 5 which are - File.slice: Read part of the file by specifying the start and end byte index. - Blob: File-like interface which contains the part of the file content. - FormData: Temporary form element that we can pass the chunk alone with some metadata to the backend service. Then we discussed the performance consideration of chunk uploading. Sequence upload cannot provide maximized upload speed, but the unlimited parallel upload might crash the browser and server if too many chunks. So we finally came up with the solution to upload chunks in parallel with the concurrency limitation. We also demonstrated how to utilize “async.js” JavaScript library to help us control the asynchronize call and the parallel limitation.   Regarding the chunk size and the parallel limitation value there is no “best” value. You need to test vary composition and find out the best one for your particular scenario. It depends on the local bandwidth, client machine cores and the server side (Windows Azure Cloud Service Virtual Machine) cores, memory and bandwidth. Below is one of my performance test result. The client machine was Windows 8 IE 10 with 4 cores. I was using Microsoft Cooperation Network. The web site was hosted on Windows Azure China North data center (in Beijing) with one small web role (1.7GB 1 core CPU, 1.75GB memory with 100Mbps bandwidth). The test cases were - Chunk size: 512KB, 1MB, 2MB, 4MB. - Upload Mode: Sequence, parallel (unlimited), parallel with limit (4 threads, 8 threads). - Chunk Format: base64 string, binaries. - Target file: 100MB. - Each case was tested 3 times. Below is the test result chart. Some thoughts, but not guidance or best practice: - Parallel gets better performance than series. - No significant performance improvement between parallel 4 threads and 8 threads. - Transform with binaries provides better performance than base64. - In all cases, chunk size in 1MB - 2MB gets better performance.   Hope this helps, Shaun All documents and related graphics, codes are provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind. • drupal - using variable_set, hook block and hook menu to save config values then print out in custom

    - by bert
    I am trying to 1) implement the hook menu and variable_set in the block hook and to solicit and store configuration values from user, 2) then use retrieve configuration values and 3) pass them out into a template using theme hook when page is shown. However I need a bit of a push on step two and three! // ===================== file: my_module.php function my_module_block($op = 'list', $delta = 0, $edit = array()) { switch($op) { case 'list': $blocks[0] = array( 'info' => t('Find Something'), // required value - this shows up in your list of blocks 'region' => 'left', // default region on the page 'weight' => 0, // position the block vertically within its column. • Python/numpy tricky slicing problem

    - by daver
    Hi stack overflow, I have a problem with some numpy stuff. I need a numpy array to behave in an unusual manner by returning a slice as a view of the data I have sliced, not a copy. So heres an example of what I want to do: Say we have a simple array like this: a = array([1, 0, 0, 0]) I would like to update consecutive entries in the array (moving left to right) with the previous entry from the array, using syntax like this: a[1:] = a[0:3] This would get the following result: a = array([1, 1, 1, 1]) Or something like this: a[1:] = 2*a[:3] # a = [1,2,4,8] To illustrate further I want the following kind of behaviour: for i in range(len(a)): if i == 0 or i+1 == len(a): continue a[i+1] = a[i] Except I want the speed of numpy. The default behavior of numpy is to take a copy of the slice, so what I actually get is this: a = array([1, 1, 0, 0]) I already have this array as a subclass of the ndarray, so I can make further changes to it if need be, I just need the slice on the right hand side to be continually updated as it updates the slice on the left hand side. Am I dreaming or is this magic possible? Update: This is all because I am trying to use Gauss-Seidel iteration to solve a linear algebra problem, more or less. It is a special case involving harmonic functions, I was trying to avoid going into this because its really not necessary and likely to confuse things further, but here goes. The algorithm is this: while not converged: for i in range(len(u[:,0])): for j in range(len(u[0,:])): # skip over boundary entries, i,j == 0 or len(u) u[i,j] = 0.25*(u[i-1,j] + u[i+1,j] + u[i, j-1] + u[i,j+1]) Right? But you can do this two ways, Jacobi involves updating each element with its neighbours without considering updates you have already made until the while loop cycles, to do it in loops you would copy the array then update one array from the copied array. However Gauss-Seidel uses information you have already updated for each of the i-1 and j-1 entries, thus no need for a copy, the loop should essentially 'know' since the array has been re-evaluated after each single element update. That is to say, every time we call up an entry like u[i-1,j] or u[i,j-1] the information calculated in the previous loop will be there. I want to replace this slow and ugly nested loop situation with one nice clean line of code using numpy slicing: u[1:-1,1:-1] = 0.25(u[:-2,1:-1] + u[2:,1:-1] + u[1:-1,:-2] + u[1:-1,2:]) But the result is Jacobi iteration because when you take a slice: u[:,-2,1:-1] you copy the data, thus the slice is not aware of any updates made. Now numpy still loops right? Its not parallel its just a faster way to loop that looks like a parallel operation in python. I want to exploit this behaviour by sort of hacking numpy to return a pointer instead of a copy when I take a slice. Right? Then every time numpy loops, that slice will 'update' or really just replicate whatever happened in the update. To do this I need slices on both sides of the array to be pointers. Anyway if there is some really really clever person out there that awesome, but I've pretty much resigned myself to believing the only answer is to loop in C.

  • back button android

    - by Raogrimm
    i am having trouble implementing the back button properly. all of the code snippets i have seen have not worked for me. what i am trying to do when i press the back button is just go back to the previous list. pretty much i have a list within a list and i just want it to go back to the previous list. how would i go about doing this? this is the list i have, every item has a separate list that it has. lets say you click on weapons, you then get a list of different weapon types and so on final String[] weapons = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.weapons); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, weapons)); lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> parent, View view, int position, long id) { System.out.println("item clicked: "+weapons[position]); switch(position) { case 0: final String[] axes = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.axes); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, axes)); break; case 1: final String[] clubs = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.clubs); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, clubs)); break; case 2: final String[] daggers = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.daggers); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, daggers)); break; case 3: final String[] great_axes = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.great_axes); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, great_axes)); break; case 4: final String[] great_katana = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.great_katana); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, great_katana)); break; case 5: final String[] great_swords = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.great_swords); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, great_swords)); break; case 6: final String[] hand_to_hand = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.hand_to_hand); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, hand_to_hand)); break; case 7: final String[] katana = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.katana); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, katana)); break; case 8: final String[] polearms = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.polearms); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, polearms)); break; case 9: final String[] scythes = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.scythes); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, scythes)); break; case 10: final String[] staves = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.staves); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, staves)); break; case 11: final String[] swords = getResources().getStringArray(R.array.swords); setListAdapter(new ArrayAdapter<String>(ffxidirectory.this, R.layout.list_item, swords)); break; } } });

  • IPSEC site-to-site Openswan to Cisco ASA

    - by Jim
    I recieved a list of commands that were run on the right side of the VPN tunnel which is where the Cisco ASA resides. On my side, I have a linux based firewall running debian with openswan installed. I am having an issue with getting to Phase 2 of the VPN negotiation. Here is the Cisco Information I was sent: {my_public_ip} = left side of connection tunnel-group {my_public_ip} type ipsec-l2l tunnel-group {my_public_ip} ipsec-attributes pre-shared-key fakefake crypto map vpn1 1 match add customer-ipsec crypto map vpn1 1 set peer {my_public_ip} crypto map vpn1 1 set transform-set aes-256-sha crypto map vpn1 interface outside static (outside,inside) 10.2.1.200 {my_public_ip} netmask 255.255.255.255 crypto ipsec transform-set aes-256-sha esp-aes-256 esp-sha-hmac crypto ipsec security-association lifetime seconds 28800 crypto ipsec security-association lifetime kilobytes 4608000 crypto map vpn1 1 match address customer-ipsec crypto map vpn1 1 set peer {my_public_ip} crypto map vpn1 1 set transform-set aes-256-sha crypto map vpn1 interface outside crypto isakmp enable outside crypto isakmp policy 1 authentication pre-share encryption aes-256 hash sha group 2 lifetime 86400 Myside ipsec.conf config setup klipsdebug=none plutodebug=none protostack=netkey #nat_traversal=yes conn cisco #name of VPN connection type=tunnel authby=secret #left side (myside) left={myPublicIP} leftsubnet=172.16.250.0/24 #net subnet on left sdie to assign to right side leftnexthop=%defaultroute #right security gateway (ASA side) right={CiscoASA_publicIP} #cisco ASA rightsubnet=10.2.1.0/24 rightnexthop=%defaultroute #crypo stuff keyexchange=ike ikelifetime=86400s auth=esp pfs=no compress=no auto=start ipsec.secrets file {CiscoASA_publicIP} {myPublicIP}: PSK "fakefake" When I start ipsec from the left side/my side I don't recieve any errors, however when I run the ipsec auto --status command: 000 "cisco": 172.16.250.0/24==={left_public_ip}<{left_public_ip}>[+S=C]---{left_public_ip_gateway}...{left_public_ip_gateway}--{right_public_ip}<{right_public_ip}>[+S=C]===10.2.1.0/24; prospective erouted; eroute owner: #0 000 "cisco": myip=unset; hisip=unset; 000 "cisco": ike_life: 86400s; ipsec_life: 28800s; rekey_margin: 540s; rekey_fuzz: 100%; keyingtries: 0 000 "cisco": policy: PSK+ENCRYPT+TUNNEL+UP+IKEv2ALLOW+SAREFTRACK+lKOD+rKOD; prio: 24,24; interface: eth0; 000 "cisco": newest ISAKMP SA: #0; newest IPsec SA: #0; 000 000 #2: "cisco":500 STATE_MAIN_I1 (sent MI1, expecting MR1); EVENT_RETRANSMIT in 10s; nodpd; idle; import:admin initiate 000 #2: pending Phase 2 for "cisco" replacing #0 Now I'm new to setting up an site-to-site IPSEC tunnel so the status informatino I am unsure what it means. Also, I read a few artilcle where configs contained the interface="ipsec0=eth0", is this an interface that I have to create on the linux debian firewall on my side? Appreciate your time to look at this.

  • Why do I get a DegradedArray event with mdadm

    Hello Just so we're clear on what's happening: I bought 4 new sata 2 drives, with the intent of using them in a raid5 all drive are fully recognised by both my bios and my linux box (gentoo) I created a raid5 array, fiddled a bit with it to understand how it works, how to monitor ect At some point, this triggered a degradedarray event, even though the array is brand new. I tried to stopping the array and recreating a new array with the same drive but the new array starts degraded too. here is what I used to create it mdadm --create -l5 -n4 /dev/md/md0-r5 /dev/sdb /dev/sdd /dev/sde /dev/sdf here are the output from my /proc/mdstat and mdadm --detail --scan **mdstat** Personalities : [raid0] [raid1] [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] [raid10] md127 : active raid5 sdf[4] sde[2] sdd[1] sdb[0] 4395415488 blocks level 5, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [4/3] [UUU_] [>....................] recovery = 2.8% (41689732/1465138496) finish=890.3min speed=26645K/sec unused devices: <none> **detail** ARRAY /dev/md/md0-r5 metadata=0.90 spares=1 UUID=453e2833:81f22a74:64188b84:66721085 As such I have a couple questions: does a raid5 array always start in degraded mode at first ? why does sdf have the number 4 between bracket instead of 3, why does it see a spare disk and why is the 4th drive marked with _ instead of U ? (bad configuration ?) How can I recreate the array from scratch, do i have to format each drive on its own before recreating it ? Thanks for any help, I'm not sure about what I should do at the moment

  • convert remote object result to array collection in flex...........

    - by user364199
    HI guys, im using zend_amf and flex. My problem is i have to populate my advance datagrid using array collection. this array collection have a children. example: [Bindable] private var dpHierarchy:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection([ {trucks:"Truck", children: [ {trucks:"AMC841", total_trip:1, start_time:'3:46:40 AM'}, {trucks:"AMC841", total_trip:1, start_time:'3:46:40 AM'}]) ]}; but the datasource of my datagrid should come from a database, how can i convert the result from remote object to array collection that has the same format like in my example, or any other way. here is my advance datagrid <mx:AdvancedDataGrid id="datagrid" width="500" height="200" lockedColumnCount="1" lockedRowCount="0" horizontalScrollPolicy="on" includeIn="loggedIn" x="67" y="131"> <mx:dataProvider> <mx:HierarchicalData id="dpHierarchytest" source="{dp}"/> </mx:dataProvider> <mx:groupedColumns> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="trucks" headerText="Trucks"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_trip" headerText="Total Trip"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="PRECOOLING"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Before Loading"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="start_time" headerText="Start Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="end_time" headerText="End Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="precooling_time" headerText="Precooling Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="precooling_temp" headerText="Precooling Temp"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Before Dispatch"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="bd_start_time" headerText="Start Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="bd_end_time" headerText="End Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="bd_precooling_time" headerText="Precooling Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="bd_precooling_temp" headerText="Precooling Temp"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="remarks" headerText="Remarks"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Temperature Compliance"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_hit" headerText="Total Hit"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_miss" headerText="Total Miss"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="cold_chain_compliance" headerText="Cold Chain Compliance"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="average_temp" headerText="Average Temp"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Productivity"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_drop_points" headerText="Total Drop Points"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_delivery_time" headerText="Total Delivery Time"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_distance" headerText="Total Distance"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup headerText="Trip Exceptions"> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_doc" headerText="Total DOC"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_eng" headerText="Total ENG"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="total_fenv" headerText="Total FENV"/> <mx:AdvancedDataGridColumn dataField="average_speed" headerText="Average Speed"/> </mx:AdvancedDataGridColumnGroup> </mx:groupedColumns> </mx:AdvancedDataGrid> Thanks, and i really need some help.

  • How perform USort() on an Array of Objects class definition as a method?

    - by user558724
    class Contact{ public $name; public $bgcolor; public $lgcolor; public $email; public $element; public function __construct($name, $bgcolor, $lgcolor, $email, $element) { $this->name = $name; $this->bgcolor = $bgcolor; $this->lgcolor = $lgcolor; $this->email = $email; $this->element = $element; } public static function sortByName(Contact $p1, Contact $p2) { return strcmp($p1->name, $p2->name); } } class ContactList implements Iterator, ArrayAccess { protected $_label; protected $_contacts = array(); public function __construct($label) { $this->_label = $label; } public function getLabel() { return $this->_label; } public function addContact(Contact $contact) { $this->_contacts[] = $contact; } public function current() { return current($this->_contacts); } public function key() { return key($this->_contacts); } public function next() { return next($this->_contacts); } public function rewind() { return reset($this->_contacts); } public function valid() { return current($this->_contacts); } public function offsetGet($offset) { return $this->_contacts[$offset]; } public function offsetSet($offset, $data) { if (!$data instanceof Contact) throw new InvalidArgumentException('Only Contact objects allowed in a ContactList'); if ($offset == '') { $this->_contacts[] = $data; } else { $this->_contacts[$offset] = $data; } } public function offsetUnset($offset) { unset($this->_contacts[$offset]); } public function offsetExists($offset) { return isset($this->_contacts[$offset]); } public function sort($attribute = 'name') { $sortFct = 'sortBy' . ucfirst(strtolower($attribute)); if (!in_array($sortFct, get_class_methods('Contact'))) { throw new Exception('contact->sort(): Can\'t sort by ' . $attribute); } usort($this->contact, 'ContactList::' . $sortFct); } } public function Sort($property, $asc=true) { // this is where sorting logic takes place $_pd = $this->_contact->getProperty($property); if ($_pd == null) { user_error('Property '.$property.' does not exist in class '.$this->_contact->getName(), E_WARNING); return; } // set sortDescriptor ContactList::$sortProperty = $_pd; // and apply sorting usort($this->_array, array('ContactList', ($asc?'USortAsc':'USortDesc'))); } function getItems(){ return $this->_array; } class SortableItem extends ContactList { static public $sortProperty; static function USortAsc($a, $b) { /*@var $_pd ReflectionProperty*/ /* $_pd = self::$sortProperty; if ($_pd !== null) { if ($_pd->getValue($a) === $_pd->getValue($b)) return 0; else return (($_pd->getValue($a) < $_pd->getValue($b))?-1:1); } return 0; } static function USortDesc($a, $b) { return -(self::USortAsc($a,$b)); } } This approach keeps giving me PHP Warnings: usort() [function.usort]: of all kinds which I can provide later as needed to comment out those methods and definitions in order to test and fix some minor bugs of our program. **$billy parameters are already defined. $all -> addContact($billy); // --> ended up adding each contact manually above $all->Sort('name',true); $items = $all->getItems(); foreach($items as $contact) { echo $contact->__toString(); } $all->sort(); The reason for using usort is to re-arrange the order alphabetically by name but somehow is either stating that the function comparison needs to be an array or another errors which obviously I have seemed to pass. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

  • Managing several custom content types from one module(drupal)

    - by Andrew
    Is it possible to declare and manage several custom content types inside one module? I'm creating a site that needs four custom content types and I'd like to manage them from one module instead of creating module for every content type. After some testing, I found out that it seems impossible. Because, unless hook_form and content type share the same name of module, drupal doesn't call hook_form. Here's how I'd like to do - function mycontent_node_info(){ return array( 'mycontent1' => array( 'name' => t('....'), 'module' => 'mycontent', 'description' => t('...), 'has_title' => TRUE, 'title_label' => t('Title'), 'has_body' => TRUE, 'body_label' => t('content body'), ), 'mycontent2' => array( ....... ), 'mycontent3' => array( ...... ), 'mycontent4' => array( ...... ), ); } function mycontent1_form(&$node){ $form['control1'] = array( '#type' => 'select', '#options' => array( '0' => t('selection 1'), '1' => t('selection 2'), ), '#attributes' => array('id'=>'control1'), ); $form['control2'] = array( '#type' => 'select', '#options' => array( '0' => t('1'), '1' => t('2'), '2' => t('3'), '3' => t('4'), ), '#attributes' => array('id'=>'control2'), ); return $form; } function mycontent2_form(&$node){ .... } function mycontent3_form(&$node){ .... } function mycontent4_form(&$node){ .... } Am I doing something wrong here or is not possible and there's no alternative other than creating module for every content types. I appreciate much your help.

  • Numpy/Python performing terribly vs. Matlab

    - by Nissl
    Novice programmer here. I'm writing a program that analyzes the relative spatial locations of points (cells). The program gets boundaries and cell type off an array with the x coordinate in column 1, y coordinate in column 2, and cell type in column 3. It then checks each cell for cell type and appropriate distance from the bounds. If it passes, it then calculates its distance from each other cell in the array and if the distance is within a specified analysis range it adds it to an output array at that distance. My cell marking program is in wxpython so I was hoping to develop this program in python as well and eventually stick it into the GUI. Unfortunately right now python takes ~20 seconds to run the core loop on my machine while MATLAB can do ~15 loops/second. Since I'm planning on doing 1000 loops (with a randomized comparison condition) on ~30 cases times several exploratory analysis types this is not a trivial difference. I tried running a profiler and array calls are 1/4 of the time, almost all of the rest is unspecified loop time. Here is the python code for the main loop: for basecell in range (0, cellnumber-1): if firstcelltype == np.array((cellrecord[basecell,2])): xloc=np.array((cellrecord[basecell,0])) yloc=np.array((cellrecord[basecell,1])) xedgedist=(xbound-xloc) yedgedist=(ybound-yloc) if xloc>excludedist and xedgedist>excludedist and yloc>excludedist and yedgedist>excludedist: for comparecell in range (0, cellnumber-1): if secondcelltype==np.array((cellrecord[comparecell,2])): xcomploc=np.array((cellrecord[comparecell,0])) ycomploc=np.array((cellrecord[comparecell,1])) dist=math.sqrt((xcomploc-xloc)**2+(ycomploc-yloc)**2) dist=round(dist) if dist>=1 and dist<=analysisdist: arraytarget=round(dist*analysisdist/intervalnumber) addone=np.array((spatialraw[arraytarget-1])) addone=addone+1 targetcell=arraytarget-1 np.put(spatialraw,[targetcell,targetcell],addone) Here is the matlab code for the main loop: for basecell = 1:cellnumber; if firstcelltype==cellrecord(basecell,3); xloc=cellrecord(basecell,1); yloc=cellrecord(basecell,2); xedgedist=(xbound-xloc); yedgedist=(ybound-yloc); if (xloc>excludedist) && (yloc>excludedist) && (xedgedist>excludedist) && (yedgedist>excludedist); for comparecell = 1:cellnumber; if secondcelltype==cellrecord(comparecell,3); xcomploc=cellrecord(comparecell,1); ycomploc=cellrecord(comparecell,2); dist=sqrt((xcomploc-xloc)^2+(ycomploc-yloc)^2); if (dist>=1) && (dist<=100.4999); arraytarget=round(dist*analysisdist/intervalnumber); spatialsum(1,arraytarget)=spatialsum(1,arraytarget)+1; end end end end end end Thanks!
