    So a lot of web apps have the customer choose their own subdomain, ie mycompany.webapp.com Presumably, every subdomain works off the same set of files and the unique subdomain is perhaps stored as a session object. So how does the URL rewriting work? If someone goes to mycompany.webapp.com, you have to rewrite their unique address to a dynamic page to set the session variable, ie webapp.com/mypage.php?cusomer=mycompany But then when you redirected, you'd be at webapp.com/theappdirectory/ and not mycompany.webapp.com/ So how do they do it?

  • Monitor USB optical mouse activity for movement and call a program on Windows

    I'm essentially looking to monitor a USB port input for whatever happens when the optical mouse detects its own movement and turns itself on. These mice usually have a dim red light when in "standby" mode and then the red light becomes brighter once you start moving it around. I want to use Visual Basic or something else native to the Windows environment to open an exe file or play a wav sound or call a bat file when the mouse "wakes up". Any suggestions or pushes in the right direction are appreciated.

  • Flex PopUpManager: How can I detect the existence of a modal popup?

    My Flex 3 application has some modal dialogs displayed via the PopUpManager, but there are times when I'd like other view components to know there is popup displayed. The PopUpManager doesn't have any method for actually checking the existence of popups. Is there any other way to detect this in flash/flex without writing my own global manager? (also systemManager.popUpChildren.numChildren == 0 even when there's a modal popup) Cheers.

    I need to produce my own DecoderFallback and DecoderFallbackBuffer classes to implement some custom stream decoding. I have found that the stream reader making use of it is calling GetNextChar() repeatedly even when my specilizaed DecoderFallbackBuffer.Remaining property returns 0 to indicate that there no more characters to return. The end result is that the stream reader gets into an infinite loop. Why is this happening?

  • How to properly read 16 byte unsigned integer with BinaryReader

    I need to parse a binary stream in .NET to convert a 16 byte unsigned integer. I would like to use the BinaryReader.ReadUIntXX() functions but there isn't a BinaryReader.ReadUInt128() function available. I assume I will have to roll my own function using the ReadByte function and build an array but I don't know if this is the most efficient method? Thanks!

    when is serialization,marshaling etc required during communication between programs residing across 2 different machines /network/Internet? Suppose I have a client program in java/flash and a server program in C. Can't I implement communication using a custom protocol of my own ? I guess so. When is serialization etc needed?I am aware Java RMI,CORBA etc have these mechanisms. But why? Is it a must? please enlighten me?

My project isn't using Django, is there a simple way to serialize App Engine models (google.appengine.ext.db.Model) into JSON or do I need to write my own serializer? My model class is fairly simple.     What am I doing wrong with this: $sql = "SELECT * FROM content WHERE threadName LIKE '%$filter%' ORDER BY lastUpdated desc UNION SELECT * FROM content WHERE threadName NOT LIKE '%$filter%' ORDER BY lastUpdated desc"; The first statement before the UNION works well on its own, but this one above returns: mysql_fetch_array() warning - supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource Am I right in believing that UNION will not return duplicate entries, in which case the second SELECT statement doesn't need to have the NOT LIKE but will just return everything that wasn't listed in the first statement.

  • Is there a way to keep two videos synchronized in a webpage without plugins?

    Is there a way to use two HTML5 video tags on a page and keep the videos synchronized? Meaning that if the first video is at 15.2 seconds then the second video is at 15.2 seconds? I've looked around and found SMIL but it looks like that only works in IE. I also tried to implement something of my own with jQuery and jMediaElement but there appears to be a lot of cases where the videos can get out of sync. Has this been done before?

    I am creating a twitter plugin for wordpress and I was told that when using oauth you can't really make the plugin act natively because each time the user installs the plugin they have to add their own twitter api credentials because of the callback url.     Hi! I have a js function that is named getID which is basically return document.getElementById(id) I want to make another function, getTag that would return getElementsByTagName. The part that I can't seem to manage is that I want to be able to call them like this: getID('myid').getTag('input') = so this would return all the input elements inside the element with the id myid Thanks! ps: getTag would also have to work if it's called by it's own, but then it would just return document.getElementsByTagName
