  I am writing program in c++ which runs GNU readline in separate thread. When main thread is exited I need to finish the thread in which readline() function is called. The readline() function is returned only when standart input came (enter pressed). Is there any way to send input to application or explicitly return from readline function? Thanks in advance.

What is the most secure way to generate such an id? Should the unique id be completely random? Is there any downside to including the user id as part of the unique id?

• Trouble "turning off" dialtone in Exchange 2010

  Given that there are two ways to enable dial tone, I'm having trouble turing it off. The two ways I'm aware of are: Dismount the database, delete it or rename it, mount it, Exchange will prompt for a dial tone creation. Run the command: Get-Mailbox -Database DB1 | Set-Mailbox -Database DTDB1 as described here Both options should result in Outlook "thinking" it's in dial tone mode. Since my goal is to shut off dial tone, I think I need to learn the specific, technical parameters that "tell" Outlook that it is in dial tone mode. Question How can I turn off dial tone for a given database? What tells outlook that it's in dial tone mode?

  I am using the Mac OS X Apple Script Editor and (while debugging) instead of writing a lot of display dialog statements, I'd like to write the results of some calculation in the window below, called "Result" (I have the German UI here, so the translation is a guess). So is there a write/print statement that I can use for putting messages in the "standard out" window? I am not asking to put the messages in a logfile on the file system, it is purely temporary.

  I have a scenario where I'm moving the contents of a blob stored in a core data entity into a file. I need a way to export that data during a migration, where I know the entity that's being converted and save the blob to a file, writing the location of that file into the converted entity's appropriate attribute. I can't seem to find a way to do this. The docs regarding the Three Stage Migration seem to indicate what can be done, but I'm not sure where to define things, or what exactly to define.

  I am writing a program that takes in an ArrayList and I need to calculate all possible permutations starting with a list of zeroes, up to the value in the corresponding input list. • Why does /**[newline] not always insert the Javadoc template including @param and @return in Eclipse

  I'm documenting code in Eclipse and have been using the /** followed by Enter alot to insert the Javadoc template. However this does not always work for some reason, it will create the template for writing comments but it won't automatically insert the @param and @return text. If I copy the exact same method to another class it will insert the full template. It would be a big help if anyone could tell me why it won't do this in some situations.

• Primary monitor keeps reverting back to the laptop display

  A Macbook Pro running VMware Fusion has a guest operating system of Windows 7. The user often connects an external monitor to the laptop through an HDMI cable. For the display settings "extend the desktop" is selected and I keep setting the primary monitor as the external one but for some annoying reason it keeps changing back. So after Windows starts the taskbar and icons are on the laptop screen which we don't want. I know how to change it but it keeps changing back (and the computer user is non-technical).

And although its not really that important it's become hard to guess which word to use while writing new code, so I'd like to unify the three terms into one and do the appropriate refactoring, but I'm not sure which word is the "best", if there is such a thing.   I'm writing a script that needs to be called at a random time during the day, but am not sure how to accomplish this. I don't want to waste server resources to run a cron job every minute. I want the script to be called at random, so generating the random times for say a month in advance and then creating cron jobs for each of them isn't what I'm looking for.   I am writing an application for iPhone and had some questions regarding eula :- If I do not include any disclaimer/ eula in my app, then would Apple's standard EULA http://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/appstore/dev/stdeula/ automatically apply to my app ? If I include a small disclaimer inside my application (as a popup on initial screen), then would Apple's EULA still cover my app ? I tried downloading few apps on my ipad and did not see Apple's standard EULA. So, where can I actually see the EULA before downloading something ?

  Hi all. I have a domain name, and a wordpress account. The domain name isn't hosted anywhere at the moment. I just want to set it up so that my wordpress blog uses the domain. According to the wordpress help page on this issue, i have to do the following: Update your domain’s name servers to the following. Make sure to remove any existing name servers that are already there. NS1.WORDPRESS.COM NS2.WORDPRESS.COM NS3.WORDPRESS.COM So, this is the only thing that i need a server for - if i even need a server at all? Is there a really simple way i can do this for free? Or for very cheap? I'm a bit ignorant about this stuff: i do rails coding but don't get involved in the really technical stuff to do with servers and dns and what have you.

  The Boost.Test documentation and examples don't really seem to contain any non-trivial examples and so far the two tutorials I've found here and here while helpful are both fairly basic. I would like to have a master test suite for the entire project, while maintaining per module suites of unit tests and fixtures that can be run independently. I'll also be using a mock server to test various networking edge cases. I'm on Ubuntu 8.04, but I'll take any example Linux or Windows since I'm writing my own makefiles anyways.

• Has anyone tried the "objectify" library for Google App Engine?

  I was using JDO for my google app engine project but got fed up with the additional 5 seconds it adds to my cold start time. I was planning on just writing stuff directly to the database with the low level datastore api, but then I came accross the objectify project ( http://code.google.com/p/objectify-appengine/ ). Apparently its a super light wrapper above the low level api. Does anyone have experiences with this library that they could share?
