  • Modal dialog focus problems on WPF application

    Hi, I have a problem with my wpf application where a modal dialog will appear behind the main application causing it to hang. It is very inconsistent, where most of the time the pop-up works correctly and is shown in front but occasionally it will pop-up behind, which stops any interaction with it. I can still close the dialog using the taskbar if this happens. I have noticed that it generally occurs when lots of other applications are open and the taskbar is full. Also, I am working with two screens and the problem only occurs on the screen with the taskbar - very wierd! The dialog is a window control, which contains an injected usercontrol as it's data context. To set the owner of the window before calling ShowDialog(), the first active window in the application is used instead of Window.GetWindow(this): private static Window GetOwner() { if (Application.Current != null) { var owner = Application.Current.Windows.Cast().FirstOrDefault(w = w.IsActive); return owner ??     I have the starter point of my application this window (white background): - (BOOL)application:(UIApplication *)application didFinishLaunchingWithOptions:(NSDictionary *)launchOptions { mainScreen = [[MainScreenController alloc] initWithNibName:@"MainScreenController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; // add it to the main window [window addSubview:[mainScreen view]]; // show view [window makeKeyAndVisible]; NSLog(@"started"); return YES; } And MainScreenController is an UIViewController with (blackBackground) created by the Interface Builder. The application executes perfectly but the first time, the black view is moved up like the height of the status iphone pannel (leaving white rectangle at the bottom). If I rotate the iPhone twice, the view is perfectly positioned in the right place, filling all the screen with the black background. Any idea? Thanks!

  • Problems with XAML WPF 4.0 Editor in VS2010

    Wondering if anybody else has found some very odd behaviour with the XAML/WPF 4 editor in VS2010. This only occurs if the project is using .NET 4. Whenever I tried to open a XAML document for editing, the window would appear to open for a split second and then vanish, but VS2010 would still list the window as open. The fault was eventually traced to having the "Reuse current document window, if saved" option under "Documents" in the "Environment" options checked. Once this was unchecked XAML 4 files opened as expected. As I said, this only appears to occur on projects targeted at .NET Framework 4 - those targeted at 3.5 worked without a problem, and the "Reuse current document window, if saved" appears to work fine on other files.

Anyone know what's up with that?

  • Is a control tree cached after the first call to FindWindowEx/EnumChildWindows?

    I noticed that if you call FindWindowEx or EnumChildWindows against a hWnd that belongs to a window that's not in the foreground, i.e. minimized, then they don't report any children. On the other hand if I first call SetForegroundWindow against the window I'm querying, and after that FindWindowEx or EnumChildWindows, they report all the children. Next calls report all the children even if the window I'm interested in is not in foreground. It's almost it does some sort of caching after the first call?

  • Problems, connecting Android ICS to Ubuntu using MTP

    I've followed this tutorial from this blog which very clearly explains how to connect Android phone with ICS to Ubuntu so that one can access phone's sdcard (MTP access). I passed all the procedure with no errors, I can event attach my mobile to ubuntu via mtpfs -o allow_other ~/Android/GalaxyS2 and disconnect via fusermount -u ~/Android/GalaxyS2 The problem comes when I try to access mounted directory. If I try to do it via Nautilus, the system tries to open the folder for a couple of minutes and then, I either see the error, or the folder disappears from Nautilus (it comes back when I disconnect the path). I also get a console error: fuse: bad mount point `~/Android/GalaxyS2': Transport endpoint is not connected I see many people on the net reporting this error, but noone offers any solution to it. I use Ubuntu 11.10 with Gnome Shell (Gnome 3) and the mobile is Samsung Galaxy S II. I am in the fuse list, I did all the steps in the tutorial for dozens of times, all in vain.

  • Using Delphi's ShellExecute() with the process inheriting the original console?

    In C I've used the system() function before in a console application and if I start another process using system() it inherits the console window of the process that called it. In Delphi system() doesn't exist so I'm using ShellExecute() to create a new process, but the new process comes up in a new console window. Is there some way that I can make it inherit the handle of the window that's calling it? I've used function GetConsoleWindow(): HWND; stdcall; external 'kernel32.dll'; to get the console window and passed it in the HWND part of ShellExecute(), but that didn't work.

Neben zahlreichen Bugfixes sind auch einige, kleinere Änderungen enthalten: Die JQuery Mobile Bibliothek wurde auf Version 1.2.0 aktualisiert Die AnyChart-Engine wurde auf Version 6.0.11 gehoben. Dadurch stehen "Circular Gauge" Charts auch als HTML5 Diagramme bereit Diagramme in Anwendungen für mobile Endgeräte können sich nun dynamisch der Bildschirmgröße anpassen Details zum Patchset finden sich, wie immer in den Release Notes. Wie bislang unterscheidet sich der Installationsvorgang je nach verwendeter APEX-Version. Wenn noch kein APEX oder eine ältere Version als 4.2 installiert ist, kann die Vollinstallation für APEX 4.2.1 direkt aus dem OTN heruntergeladen und normal installiert werden. Wenn APEX 4.2.0 installiert ist, muss Patch Nr. 14732511 aus MyOracle Support heruntergeladen und eingespielt werden.

  • Calling home, receiving calls and smartphone data from the US

    I got asked about calling home from the US, by someone going to the PASS Summit. I found myself thinking “there should be a blog post about this”... The easiest way to phone home is Skype - no question. Use WiFi, and if you’re calling someone who has Skype on their phone at the other end, it’s free. Even if they don’t, it’s still pretty good price-wise. The PASS Summit conference centre has good WiFI, as do the hotels, and plenty of other places (like Starbucks). But if you’re used to having data all the time, particularly when you’re walking from one place to another, then you’ll want a sim card. This also lets you receive calls more easily, not just solving your data problem. You’ll need to make sure your phone isn’t locked to your local network – get that sorted before you leave. It’s no trouble to drop by a T-mobile or AT&T store and getting a prepaid sim. You can’t get one from the airport, but if the PASS Summit is your first stop, there’s a T-mobile store on 6th in Seattle between Pine & Pike, so you can see it from the Sheraton hotel if that’s where you’re staying. AT&T isn’t far away either. But – there’s an extra step that you should be aware of. If you talk to one of these US telcos, you’ll probably (hopefully I’m wrong, but this is how it was for me recently) be told that their prepaid sims don’t work in smartphones. And they’re right – the APN gets detected and stops the data from working. But luckily, Apple (and others) have provided information about how to change the APN, which has been used by a company based in New Zealand to let you get your phone working. Basically, you send your phone browser to http://unlockit.co.nz and follow the prompts. But do this from a WiFi place somewhere, because you won’t have data access until after you’ve sorted this out... Oh, and if you get a prepaid sim with “unlimited data”, you will still need to get a Data Feature for it. And just for the record – this is WAY easier if you’re going to the UK. I dropped into a T-mobile shop there, and bought a prepaid sim card for five quid, which gave me 250MB data and some (but not much) call credit. In Australia it’s even easier, because you can buy data-enabled sim cards that work in smartphones from the airport when you arrive. I think having access to data really helps you feel at home in a different place. It means you can pull up maps, see what your friends are doing, and more.
