• limitations of xpath to distinguish and locate web elements on page

  are there any alternatives to Xpath ? need to locate and extract specific element's texts for web scraping project. xpath seem pretty limited against layout changes on web pages. slight shuffle, and xpath no longer works. also different browsers have different Xpaths as i discovered. Firefox automatically adds tbody after table, while IE doesn't and so on.

• How do I learn IPSec VPN implementation on FreeBSD from pfSense

  I've been trying to figure out a complete working solution for IPSec VPN implementation on FreeBSD but with no luck till now. pfSense seems did a fantastic job on supporting IPSec and even for mobile clients, so I downloaded and installed pfSense hoping to figure out how it works, or at least see some configuration examples, but I couldn't find anything interesting maybe because I'm not familiar with pfSense, so I'd like to ask for help. How pfSense implements IPSec, what tools are used? Where does pfSense store all its configuration files? And since pfSense has its own kernel mods and acts as a different OS, there's no way for us to install it on top of an existing FreeBSD box, and plus that it is such a great project combining those fantastic features, so my question can kinda be extended as: How do we learn from pfSense, and implement its features on top of a regular FreeBSD server?

  I have a date with a time. I'm using ruby, but the language shouldn't matter. d = "2010-04-01 13:00:00" What is the best way to format this date for Mongo DB? By 'best' I mean, is there a certain format I could use where Mongo would recognize it as a date and might give me more-advanced filtering optons? ie: If formatted correctly, could I ask Mongo to return all records whose month is '04'?   I did a system test on a new ASP.NET app. I encountered several exceptions when using the BACK button in my browser (IE 7). I stated in a review-record that the web-app must support the use of a BACK button (or at least handle it gracefully with for example session-time out warnings). The teamlead did not agree with me as he stated that a web-app should not support working with the back-button by default. Do you agree?

  i tried to extend the listbox control and override its RenderEndTag method. everything works well if i used the control directly in a webapage. ie, the RenderEndTag is called. but when i try to put the control in a WebUserControl and use the webusercontorl in a webpage, the RenderEndTag of the extended control is not called. this is strange because the constructor is being called but the RenderEndTag method is not! any ideas about fixing the issue?

  Hi there, Time to ask an odd question. window.print(); Prints only one page of 2 pages in IE8 & IE7 even the same prints both pages in FF. Now if I cancel the print dialog and just go to File - Print I get both pages in both IE & FF. window.print(); is included in ONLOAD Any idea why? Thanks Babak

• chunked response in nginx not working

  I ran into this post which shows my problem EXACTLY http://nginx.org/en/docs/faq/chunked_encoding_from_backend.html BUT browsers are using http 1.1 these days so I really don't understand. Our backend is the playframework and I don't mind fixing it but I don't really understand what is not working ESPECIALLY since firefox, safari, chrome ALL download the response just fine with no problems. ONLY when we stick NGINX in the middle do things break and we end up with extra data in our json responses. Any idea how to fix this? as the doc above just seems wrong since we are now on later versions of http PLUS the browsers seem to work just fine. thanks, Dean

• Server error 500 when adding .htaccess file in the root folder

  I read a lot of server error 500 questions related to the famous .htaccess file but I have still not found an answer to this error. I have a folder which I used to test the .htaccess file. =>http://localhost/xampp/example/ I copied the .htaccess in the example folder and I get server error 500 my .htaccess file contains this: <IfModule mod_expires.c> ExpiresActive on ExpiresByType image/png "access plus 1 days" </IfModule> I have changed my httpd.conf file: all AllowOverrride None to AllowOverride All i have also uncommented this line: LoadModule expires_module modules/mod_expires.so error.log says: ExpiresActive not allowed here I still get the error 500 What is actually happening? How can I resolve this error? PS: i am running on localhost with XAMPP

  I am trying to read an XML file into a data set using dataset.ReadXml(fileName, XmlReadMode.IgnoreSchema). XML contains data formatted in French eg 231,23 ie '.' in US is replaced by ',' in French. I get an exception Input string was not in a correct format.Can any one help me ?

• Corporate IM with video that actually works, suggestions?

  Hi. Does anyone here have a suggestion for a cross-platform IM solution wich will work with voip/video on both Windows (XP and 7) and Mac OS X from 10.4 and upwards? Right now were in a kind of mixed enviroment, with some Mac users using iChat server since they need video support (conference across several offices over VPN), but it wont't work on windows clients. The rest of us are happily using Openfire+Spark, but there's no VoIP or video avaible from what i've found, unless you want to add in several 3rd party software (like red5 and asterisk). Requirements: As said before; must work on both Windows and Mac Internal server (no Skype etc) File transfer between platforms SSO (Single Sign-On) via Active Directory authentication Some sort of screen sharing would be a plus, like switching over to a screen capture (powerpoint, software training etc) We can afford to buy software if that's needed to get this working without any hiccups across platforms. Pre-thanks to anyone who gives suggestions.

• Check if 'onload' would have fired already?

  Hello, I have a situation where I'd like to set an onload handler for a script element, but it is possible that the script element has already loaded before I do so. If it's already loaded, I'd like to detect that and run my handler immediately. What would be a reliable way of checking a script element's onload state after the fact? BTW I know that IE uses readyState instead of an onload event so I don't need help for that.

• bing api 2.0 sdk json samples got syntax error in Firefox browser

  I just downloaded the Bing API 2.0 SDK. There are several html files in Bing API 2.0 SDK\Samples\JSON directory. I replaced the AppId in the JavaScript with my new AppId. These pages run fine in IE but I got 'syntax error' in Firefox, Firebug console. Does anyone have similar issues? What is in the page that is causing the 'syntax error'? Thank you very much. Jazure

  I have this annoying problem driving me nuts, IE 8 randomly won't show background images of my divs. One minute it shows, then the next time it won't. Then I have to refresh the page 2-3 times for it to show. All my pages work fine on firefox, chrome. Has anyone faced a similar problem? Any solutions?

• Is there a way to keep two videos synchronized in a webpage without plugins?

  Is there a way to use two HTML5 video tags on a page and keep the videos synchronized? Meaning that if the first video is at 15.2 seconds then the second video is at 15.2 seconds? I've looked around and found SMIL but it looks like that only works in IE. I also tried to implement something of my own with jQuery and jMediaElement but there appears to be a lot of cases where the videos can get out of sync. Has this been done before?

In the middle column the product thumbnails drop down below when the 'float: left;' parameter is used. It is as if it is being escaped by a tag from that point forward no 'float: left's work and all the items are centered moving forward.

For example, the umbrella is rarer than the boots. Based on those factors, I need to randomly select a single object (including a blank or 'no object found') based on that incidence value. Yikes.   I am working on an application which is being developed in wxPython and C plus using linux core utilities and network support. To be more specific, I only need the following support for following packages/softwares/components. wxPython C Network Support Linux Utilities Vi File System(fdisk/parted, ntfsprogs etc) Basic(cp, mount/umount, mkdir etc) The application will run from a live CD. Currently i am using Fedora 12 with Gnome for live CD. Currently the size of live image is around 350 MB. The size of application is hardly 1 MB. I don't need anything else except above mentioned. Just my application and supporting packages, no desktop etc. So, I need a Lightweight Linux image as smaller as possible providing all the above mentioned packages/components. I am considering the following distributions: Xfce LXDE Fluxbox Enlightenment Any ideas/suggestions?

• Is there anyway to build a raid system without all drives?

  I'm building a raid1 (ok it will probably be a raid10,f2 but the difference with 2 drives... isn't much) system with 2 1TB drives. However, 1 of the drives I've ordered is bad so I'm RMA-ing it. I'm wondering if I could partition and install to the 1 drive and then rebuild the array when I get the second drive (after I test it of course) My initial investigation doesn't show me a way of creating the array without specifying all devices... and the device the second drive will be is one that has data that I will need to migrate (plus it's not big enough). Is it possible that I could create an array without specifying all devices? or specify false ones and reconfigure to the right ones later? Or some other method I'm not thinking of.
