    I'm looking into experimenting with Tao but I am somewhat put-off by it's dead-looking state. It hasn't been updated since 2008 and it looks like their website stopped functioning at roughly the same time. Does anyone have any information on the current situation or know of it's stability?

Would it need a bunch of reflection? A built in compiler maybe? AFAIK, this is not possible with regular Java. The closest thing I could get is IDE support like in IDEA with the "macro" soutv+tab that prints: Hit taband type the expression The IDE types the rest for you. But that's quite another completely thing.

  • Are there any 3rd Party libraries for image processing in C#?

    Just wondering if there's anything out there to help make my project a lot easier to deal with. I'm working on a program that uses the Wiimote and infrared pen (mapped to the mouse) to manipulate images in real time and I'd much rather not have to use all my time figuring out how to make the program resize and rotate images efficiently with the least amount of distortion... I haven't really found anything when searching. Anybody know of any libraries that can help me?

  • Libraries for developing NCPDP SCRIPT based systems (a standard for e-prescribing)

    What are (based on experiences) best (commercial or open source) libraries for developing NCPDP-based systems? Background: NCPDP (National Council for Prescription Drug Programs) is a not-for-profit, ANSI-accredited, standards development organization. One of it's standards is the SCRIPT Standard for Electronic Prescribing, which allows PHARMACY, PRESCRIBER (i.e. Physician) and PAYERS (patient or more often insurer) communicate. So the SCRIPT standard is about data transmission. Problem: One step in implementing such systems is to develop models for data based on SCRIPT standard. These models should have utilities for serializing/deserializing to/from SCRIPT binary format and SCRIPT XML format (there are two distinct formats here; both must be supported). Here rises the problem (for me at least). To develop this subsystem for handling the model, implementing serializing and deserializing facilities and keep it uptodate with the SCRIPT standard specifications is a lot of work; it needs it's own team and team management issues (to support a standard implementation). So I am looking for a solution to this problem; to keep standard implementation out of the way and focusing on main problems. Thanks to all (Thankyou Freiheit for your hints!)   • Perl WordPress::XMLRPC categories not being set.

    The following code works fine to upload a new post to a WordPress blog but for the life of me I can't seem to get the categories to be set. The categories exist. I've tried all lower case, tried case-matching, tried the slug version. Nothing works. No matter how I try passing the categories, the post gets assigned only to the default category.   • Multiple Socket Connections

    I need to write a server which accepts connections from multiple client machines, maintains track of connected clients and sends individual clients data as necessary. Sometimes, all clients may be contacted at once with the same message, other times, it may be one individual client or a group of clients. Since I need confirmation that the clients received the information and don't want to build an ACK structure for a UDP connection, I decided to use a TCP streaming method. However, I've been struggling to understand how to maintain multiple connections and keep them idle. I seem to have three options. Use a fork for each incoming connection to create a separate child process, use pthread_create to create an entire new thread for each process, or use select() to wait on all open socket IDs for a connection. Recommendations as to how to attack this? I've begun working with pthreads but since performance will likely not be an issue, multicore processing is not necessary and perhaps there is a simpler way.

    Hello all, I need to use Mesa3D for a cross platform application(windows and Mac only) which uses only offline software rendering. The reason I wanted to use Mesa3D is because it has the same Drawing calls as OpenGL and they are really easy. Now I know that Apple itself has a software implementation (which I heard is flaky), but I prefer using Mesa so that it's a lot easier for me to maintain the code on both platforms. On windows I managed to compile three DLL's from the Mesa3d source, but don't know what to do with them. On Mac OS X I am completely clueless. I would highly appreciate your help.   • Java NIO SocketChannel writing problem

    I am using Java NIO's SocketChannel to write : int n = socketChannel.write(byteBuffer); Most of the times the data is sent in one or two parts; i.e. if the data could not be sent in one attemmpt, remaining data is retried. The issue here is, sometimes, the data is not being sent completely in one attempt, rest of the data when tried to send multiple times, it occurs that even after trying several times, not a single character is being written to channel, finally after some time the remaning data is sent. What could be the cause of such behaviour? Could external factors such as RAM, etc cause the hindarance? Please help me solve this issue. If any other information is required please let me know. That's telling me that I need some SEO work. We redid our website and streamlined it which removed many of our 'How-To' documents. Since those PDF documents contain words that people might search for, I was wondering if I could add a 'Complete library' link to the bottom of a page that will load up the entire PDF library. Would that help my ranking?

  • What is the right approach to checksumming UDP packets

    I'm building UDP server application in C#. I've come across a packet checksum problem. As you probably know, each packet should carry some simple way of telling receiver if packet data is intact. Now, UDP already has 2-byte checksum as part of header, which is optional, at least in IPv4 world. Alternative method is to have custom checksum as part of data section in each packet, and to verify it on receiver. My question boils down to: is it better to rely on (optional) checksum in UDP packet header, or to make a custom checksum implementation as part of packet data section? Perhaps the right answer depends on circumstances (as usual), so one circumstance here is that, even though code is written and developed in .NET on Windows, it might have to run under platform-independent Mono.NET, so eventual solution should be compatible with other platforms. I believe that custom checksum algorithm would be easily portable, but I'm not so sure about the first one. Any thoughts? Also, shouts about packet checksumming in general are welcome.

  • Machine Learning Algorithm for Parallel Nodes

    I want to apply machine learning to a classification problem in a parallel environment. Several independent nodes, each with multiple on/off sensors, can communicate their sensor data with the goal of classifying an event defined by a heuristic, training data or both. Each peer will be measuring the same data from their unique perspective and will attempt to classify the result while taking into account that any neighbouring node (or its sensors or just the connection to the node) could be faulty. Nodes should function as equal peers and determine the most likely classification by communicating their results. Ultimately each node should make a decision based on their own sensor data and their peers' data. If it matters, false positives are OK (albeit undesirable) but false negatives are totally unacceptable. Given that each final classification will receive good or bad feedback, what would be an appropriate machine learning algorithm to approach this problem with if the nodes could communicate with each other to determine the most likely classification?

  • Reinforcement learning And POMDP

    I am trying to use Multi-Layer NN to implement probability function in Partially Observable Markov Process.. I thought inputs to the NN would be: current state, selected action, result state; The output is a probability in [0,1] (prob. that performing selected action on current state will lead to result state) In training, I fed the inputs stated before, into the NN, and I taught it the output=1.0 for each case that already occurred. The problem : For nearly all test case the output probability is near 0.95.. no output was under 0.9 ! Even for nearly impossible results, it gave that high prob. PS:I think this is because I taught it happened cases only, but not un-happened ones.. But I can not at each step in the episode teach it the output=0.0 for every un-happened action! Any suggestions how to over come this problem? Or may be another way to use NN or to implement prob function? Thanks

    I am designing an application that has following flow: User designs a form using web application (J2EE backend application) The form is sent to mobile device (Android) Mobile device User fills out the form designed in 1. Results are synced with backend. One of my ideas is to create a common java UI library for creating the type of forms that I need. This library would also have a native renderers for different platforms (Web and Android would be implemented first). The whole point of it is to have a native experience on web and android side. Are there any existing solutions to meet the requirements that I have? Is it a good approach to achieve them?

Why? As far as I know base.Dispose should call the Dispose method of base class only... isn't it? Who call back the Dispose(bool) of UnityManager? How to prevent that? Thanks.

    Hello all, I am new to all this, but here goes: There is an apple file that I would like to use parts of for my app. It is called BatteryTimeRemaining.c. http://www.opensource.apple.com/source/PowerManagement/PowerManagement-211/pmconfigd/BatteryTimeRemaining.c I want to be able to use some of the calculations in it, the problem being I don't to know how to add and use it properly.
