  • Interface Builder "Simulate Interface" not working

    I am using Interface Builder to play around with some ideas. I never noticed that there is a "Simulate Interface" feature which apparently will render the nib in the iPhone simulator. So, I created a view, put one component in there (a Segmented Control), saved it, selected "Simulate Interface", the simulator launched but... nothing rendered in the simulator. Just a black screen. I thought maybe my nib wasn't complete enough, so I've tried it with all of my old nibs and I'm having the same problem with all of them. None of them render in the simulator at all. Is there some trick that I'm missing?

  • How do I authenticate a Twitter user and access the API without leaving my iPhone app?

    I'd like to allow users to send out Tweets from my iPhone app. That's all the functionality I need at the moment. From what I know of the Twitter API, there's a standard authentication mechanism, which allows the developer to include the user's name and password in the request string that the application sends to Twitter. This method will no longer be supported come June 30, 2010. Given the timeframe, the better other choice is oAuth. One of the caveats of oAuth is that it requires a UIWebView to pop up within the app to allow the user to enter his or her credentials or a PIN number. None of the Twitter apps on my phone do this, however: Tweetie, TweetDeck and Twitterific. I assume they're using the first authentication method, but it seems like Twitter wouldn't deprecate an API that would hurt the user experience across the board. There must be an alternative method--what am I missing?

  • ASP.NET MVC: What's the difference in concept between Service and Repository

    Hello, The question I'm asking is kind of subjective. I've seen twice, while exercising with real projects such as StoreFront, both Repository and Services. Sometimes they can just be folders or projects attached to the solution. But they contain classes and interfaces. So, I'd like to know what goes to the repository and what goes to the services. So far, I was familiar with repositories (we put methods and properties in the repository to reduce the complexity in the controller). How about the services? So, ASP.NET MVC: What's the difference in concept between Service and Repository? (Maybe none) My question is Kind of subjective, but I'd like to make sure that I'm not missing anything.   • Vibrations when exploding/repacking movie

    Please bear with me, I know that what I'm doing can sound strange, but I can guarantee there's a very good reason for that. I took a movie with my camera, as avi. I imported the movie into iMovie and then exploded the single frames as PNG. Then I repacked these frames into mov using the following code movie, error = QTMovie.alloc().initToWritableFile_error_(out_path, None) mt = QTMakeTime(v, scale) attrib = {QTAddImageCodecType: "jpeg"} for path in png_paths: image = NSImage.alloc().initWithContentsOfFile_(path) movie.addImage_forDuration_withAttributes_(image, mt, attrib) movie.updateMovieFile() The resulting mov works, but it looks like the frames are "nervous" and shaky when compared to the original avi, which appears smoother. The size of the two files is approximately the same, and both the export and repacking occurred at 30 fps. The pics also appear to be aligned, so it's not due to accidental shift of the frames. My question is: by knowing the file formats and the process I performed, what is the probable cause of such result ? How can I fix it ?

    I am trying to redirect /folder to / using .htaccess but all am I getting is the Apache HTTP Server Test Page. My root directory looks like this: / .htaccess -/folder -/folder2 -/folder3 My .htaccess looks like this: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/folder/ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ folder/$1 [L] What am I doing wrong? I checked my httpd.conf (I'm running Centos 5.3) and the mod_rewrite library is being loaded. As a side note, my server is not a www server, its simply a virtual machine so its hostname is centosvm. Addition: I have found that the mod_rewrite module is loaded, but none of my .htaccess redirects seem to be working.

  • Why does it make a difference where I include the jQuery script file?

    On my master page (for all pages in my site) I have a ToolkitScriptManager. On my content page, there are a series of hyperlinks and divs for collapsible functionality. The code to show/hide the panels work like the following: $('#nameHyperLink').click(function() { var div = $('#nameDiv'); var link = $('#nameHyperLink'); if (div.css('display') == 'none') { link.text('Hide Data'); div.show('100'); } else { link.text('Show Data'); div.hide('100'); } }); If I include a ScriptReference to the jQuery 1.4.2 file in the toolkitscriptmanager, the javascript code is executed incorrectly on the page (only the text for the hyperlink is changed, the div is not actually shown.) However, if I don't include the jQuery file in the ToolkitScriptManager and instead include it in the content page, it works correctly. I'm a Javascript/jQuery newbie, and this makes no sense at all. What's going on here?

  • SSIS - Parallel Execution of Tasks - How efficient is it?

    I am building an SSIS package that will contain dozens of Sequence tasks. Each Sequence task will contain three tasks. One to truncate a destination table and remove indexes on the table, another to import data from a source table, and a third to add back indexes to the destination table. My question is this. I currently have nine of these Sequences tasks built, and none are dependent on any of the others. When I execute the package, SSIS seems to do a pretty good job of determining which tasks in which Sequence to execute, which, by the way, appears to be quite random. As I continue adding more Sequences, should I attempt to be smarter about how SSIS should execute these Sequences, or is SSIS smart enough to do it itself? Thanks.

    I am looking for a marching ants border or line in Morphic: Wikipedia describes a possbile algorithm: The easiest way to achieve this animation is by drawing the selection using a pen pattern that contains diagonal lines. If the selection outline is only one pixel thick, the slices out of the pattern will then look like a dashed line, and the animation can easily be achieved by simply shifting the pattern one pixel sideways and redrawing the outline.   • Unable to use opacity animation w/ position:relative on children

    Consider the following (applies to all IE6+ browsers -- including IE8): <div id="picture"> <div class="thumb" style="position: relative;"><img .. /></div> <p>Some description</p> </div> When I animate the opacity down to 0 it only works if I change the .thumb class to position: static. This has bigger problems because I use that to constrain absolutely positioned children to that container. I've tried all the hacks I have discovered, none work (bg-color, zoom, etc).   • Why aren't Admob click callback delegate methods getting called?

    I'm integrating the latest version of the admob sdk (version 20100412) into my app. The ads get displayed, but I need the app to make some changes when an ad is clicked and admob displays a full-screen browser. However, none of the callback methods (willPresentFullScreenModal, didPresentFullScreenModal, willDismissFullScreenModal, and didDismissFullScreenModal) are called, even though other delegate methods are. Why aren't these callbacks being made? They were in the previous versions of the SDK, and the sample app doesn't use them, so it's no help. EDIT: removed the double negative from the question title

  • Not able to override CSS within IFrame

    I am using disqus comments for my jekyll blog with some CSS styles overriden in my stylesheet and used to work perfectly. Recently, disqus has introduced a new UI for their comments system which has completely broken the font colors. Since my site has dark background, I am trying to apply styles based on new disqus HTML structure generated. However, it seems that none of my styles get applied. It seems that is because disqus is loaded within iframe. Any ideas how can I fix the font colors.     I tried out Alex Kuhl's ajax script to upload images to Django 1.4. My first question is why I'm getting an empty page with firebug telling me I have two errors: fileuploader.js (line 4): syntax error <!DOCTYPE html> In my template html: qq is not defined var uploader = new qq.FileUploader( { Here is my entire html file for it: http://pastebin.com/NjbV5gMn This post suggests that either some script has 404'd or the src attribute is empty, which would cause the doctype error. But that doesn't seem to be the case here. As for why qq is not defined, I'm not sure what is wrong. Django can clearly find the fileuploader.js just fine from my static folder. My second question is why the ajax code uses {{ csrf_token }} instead of {% csrf_token %}.   • Is there a distributed VCS that can manage large files?

    Is there a distributed version control system (git, bazaar, mercurial, darcs etc.) that can handle files larger than available RAM? I need to be able to commit large binary files (i.e. datasets, source video/images, archives), but I don't need to be able to diff them, just be able to commit and then update when the file changes. I last looked at this about a year ago, and none of the obvious candidates allowed this, since they're all designed to diff in memory for speed. That left me with a VCS for managing code and something else ("asset management" software or just rsync and scripts) for large files, which is pretty ugly when the directory structures of the two overlap.

  • Defining Makefiles variables from a script

    I am creating a Makefile which I want it to be a single file for different architectures, OSes, libraries, etc. To do this I have a build specific XML file which defines the different configuration options for each architecture. The config file is read by Perl (it could be any language) and the Perl output returns something like: var1 := var1_value var2 := var2_value var3 := var3_value What I am trying to do is define this variables in my Makefile. From the makefile I am calling my readconfig script and it is giving the correct output, but I have not been able to get this variables as part of my Makefile. I have tried the use of eval and value, but none of them have work (although it could be an issue of me not knowing how to use them. In overall what I am trying to do is something like: read_config: $(eval (perl '-require "readConfig.pl"')) @echo $(var1) It could be assumed I am using only GNU Make behavior.     The argument my C# function is getting is a string which is merely a Date or a DateTime. I am suppose to convert this String to DateTime, to carry on furthure calculation. Now I need to test whether the incoming data is a Date, if it is date(examle:"12/31/2009"), then I need to add "00:00:00" (24 hours format) to it, so that it will become "12/31/2009 00:00:00". If string manipulation is one possible way, I want to confirm whether there is some other way where we can automate the testing and conversion within DateTime.TryParseExact() method. I have checked to see if the port is opening, it does. What could I possibly be doing wrong?   • Why am I getting "Enter Parameter Value" when running my MS Access query?

    In my query, I use the IIF function to assign either "Before" or "After" to a field named BeforeOrAfter using AS. When I run this query, however, the "Enter Parameter Value" dialog appears, requesting a value for BeforeOrAfter. If I remove BeforeOrAfter DESC from the ORDER BY clause, I don't get the dialog. Here is the offending query: SELECT d.Scenario, e.Event, IIF(d.LogTime < e.Time, 'Before','After') AS BeforeOrAfter, d.HeartRate FROM Data d INNER JOIN Events e ON d.Scenario = e.Scenario WHERE e.Include = Yes ORDER BY d.Scenario, e.Id, BeforeOrAfter DESC Question: Why is my AS BeforeOrAfter not being recognized by the ORDER BY clause? Why does it ask me to enter a parameter value for "BeforeOrAfter" when I run this query? Note: I tried using brackets, single quotes, double quotes, etc., but none of that made any difference.

  • deny iframe javascript to scroll parent window

    I've a site with banner ads, loaded using iframes. The banner ads always scroll the parent window when the banner doesn't complety fit into the visible region. This is really annoying and I'd like to deny the javascript of the iframes to scroll the main window. Here is what I already tried: Move the iframe src code to another domain. Normally js from another domain should not be allowed to access the parent window, is it?! This doesn't work. Overwrite window.moveTo, window.scrollTo, window.scrollBy in parent with my own functions. This doesn't seem to work neither, as none of these functions seems to be called. :-( Any help would be really great :-)

  • IE Cannot open the internet site (no JS on the page)

    I know that there are many posts about this on Stackoverflow, but this one is different. All of the other fixes to this have to do with javascript, but I don't even have javascript on my page. None. And I am still getting this error. Was there any other reasons why this error was being caused?     Hi i just put up a validation function in jScript to validate filename in fileupload control[input type file]. The function seems to work fine in FF and sometimes in ie but never in Chrome. Basically the function tests if File name is atleast 1 char upto 25 characters long.Contains only valid characters,numbers [no spaces] and are of file types in the list.
