  • Hibernate saveOrUpdate problem on char data type

    Hi I am using Hibernate 3.0 , facing issue related to the char datatype field. I am trying to save Client pojo in the database, using following method. Problem is my client_id field is char(10) in the database. when client_id is 10 characters it works fine. but when client_id is less than ten characters it gives problem at the time of update. Rather than updating data it try to insert cleint record again and gives the unquie key exeception. i drill down the problem because of char(10) client_id field. it keeps space after client_id value upto 10 characters.     Often, I have a list of objects. Each object has properties. I want to extract a subset of the list where a specific property has a predefined value. Example: I have a list of User objects. A User has a homeTown. I want to extract all users from my list with "Springfield" as their homeTown. I normally see this accomplished as follows: List users = getTheUsers(); List returnList = new ArrayList(); for (User user: users) { if ("springfield".equalsIgnoreCase(user.getHomeTown()) returnList.add(user); } I am not particularly satisfied with this solution. Yes, it works, but it seems so slow. There must be a non-linear solution. Suggestions?

  • C/C++ detect network type

    I need to write a win32 c/c++ application which will be able to determine whether the PC it's running on is connected to one of 2 networks. The first network is the company LAN (which has no internet connection) and the second network is a standalone switch with a single PC connected to it (the PC that the program is running on). I'm pretty new to network programming but so far I have tried testing to see if a network drive which is held on our LAN can be mapped. This works fine if the PC is connected to the LAN, the drive mapping succeeds so so LAN detection is successful. However, if the PC is connected to the switch, this results in a VERY long timeout which is not a suitable as it will delay the program so much as to make it unusable. Does anyone have any alternative suggestions? I'm using c/c++ in VS 6.0

  • Custom metadata fields in Windows file manager (or other software)

    I'm trying to organize a collection of maybe 500 or so journal articles, stored in a combination of .pdf and .djvu formats. I'd like to be able to sort the collection by author(s), title, journal name, year, and subject keywords. Is there a way to create metadata fields for this information in the Windows file system (similar to how .mp3 files come with tags for album, title, track length, etc)? Or, if not, is there some software (preferably free) that can do something similar?

  • Storing "binary" data type in C program

    I need to create a program that converts one number system to other number systems. I used itoa in Windows (Dev C++) and my only problem is that I do not know how to convert binary numbers to other number systems. All the other number systems conversion work accordingly. Does this involve something like storing the input to be converted using %? Here is a snippet of my work: case 2: { printf("\nEnter a binary number: "); scanf("%d", &num); itoa(num,buffer,8); printf("\nOctal %s",buffer); itoa(num,buffer,10); printf("\nDecimal %s",buffer); itoa(num,buffer,16); printf("\nHexadecimal %s \n",buffer); break; } For decimal I used %d, for octal I used %o and for hexadecimal I used %x.   • How to call a custom php file on magento product page

    if getChildHtml('product_type_data') ? maps directly to catalog/product/view/type/simple.phtml by default, how do I map to my own file? If I wanted to create a file that would produce a small image to place on the product page, right under "availability" how would I tell magento to map to where I have put the file? From what I understand getChildHtml('product_type_data') ? defaults to the file path: catalog/product/view/type/simple.phtml so how can I customize the magento defaults and tell it to map to my custom files i've created? I hope I have explained this well enough, if not, please let me know and I will try to explain more. Any help or guidance would be awesome. Thanks.

    I am using the below class file, where some variables are declared to use in the entire application. Now I used that variable BlockLogOut in another class file to make the value true. I just put this below line and getting error in it.. TypeInitializationException Global.BlockLogOut = True; The weird thing is, it was working fine for many months and i am getting this error now on the above line. Of course i was modifying some other stuffs in the application, but surely not this class file.     I am trying to use the model ListModel as a generic list model. I would like to enter on the page @Html.DisplayForModel() However the MVC is not correctly finding the templated file "ListModel.cshtml". It must work differently for generic models. What should I name the templated file in order for it to correctly be located? public class ListModel<T> { public IEnumerable<T> Models {get;set;} public string NextPage {get;set;} } I would expect it to look for "Shared/DisplayTemplates/ListModel.ascx" but it doesn't. Does anyone know?
