• Samba smb.conf read only and read/write accounts

  Below you can see my smb.conf, pieter is my admin user read/write on the shares works good with that account. Then I have a leecher account that has been added with smbpasswd -a leecher to the smb users, it is set up so this user only has read access to the shares. This works on MegaSam and on Thumbnails but not on my other drives, leecher does not get any access on the other shares. • How to Fix "Read-only file system" error when I run something as sudo and try to make a folder/file?

  When I try to save something or rename a file/folder it say this error " Read-only file system" or run something as root in the terminal it say this error sudo: unable to open /var/lib/sudo/"My User Name"/0: Read-only file system W: Not using locking for read only lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock E: Unable to write to /var/cache/apt/ E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened. When I make a Folder the error dialog in the details with Nautilus is this: Error creating directory: Read-only file system I would show you I picture of it but it isn't even letting my save onto my flash drive. Please help me.

• Virus that makes all files and folders read-only filesystem on a usb drive

  Is there any way on how to remove a virus from Windows that makes the files and folders and the usb drive itself a read-only filesystem as this is an annoying one because the virus keeps copying itself as long as it sees a folder and keeps running which prevents you from creating and deleting files and folders from the usb drive and makes " mount -o remount,rw '/path' " ineffective ? btw i'm not really sure if it is a virus but what makes me think that it is a virus is for the reason the it creates a .exe file within every folder which was named after folder and it also immediately reverts to read-only filesystem which locks the files and folders even after executing the command " mount -o remount,rw '/path' ". i also think the virus is just running only within the usb drive as it is not affecting the folders on ubuntu. I could choose to reformat the usb drive as it only contains few important files but what concerns me is if such virus or whatever you may call it gets into my backup drives that contains many important files.Thanks for any help and advice you could give.

  I hope someone knows how to do the following with cocos2d: I want a sprite to move but not in a single line by using [cocosGuy runAction: [CCMoveTo actionWithDuration:1 position:location]]; What I want is the sprite to do some kind of movements that I preestablish. For example in some point i want the sprirte to move for instance up and then down but in a curve.   Firefox has released its latest version 3.6.4 as beta. User who has already installed Firefox 3.6.4  can use the update check option in the browser will recognize to download it automatically,so that the browser can be updated. You can also download the latest beta version from the direct link (Firefox 3..6.4) of Mozilla website with the option to select the language and operating system version. As the per the release note from Mozilla this build works on the out of process plug-in module for Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime or Microsoft Silver light plug-in, so that If a plug-in crashes or freezes, it will not affect the rest of Firefox. You will be able to reload the page to restart the plug-in and try again. The release note also states that many of the security issues and and total of 194 issues from the BugZilla list is fixed.   I've read through this question: How do I install Ubuntu to a USB key? So I am aware how to install Ubuntu onto a USB stick. I'm also aware that the minimum recommended HDD requirement for ubuntu is 5GB. my question is specifically, can I squeeze the install of Ubuntu 11.10 onto a 4GB usb stick? Can I do so without downloading alternate version of Ubuntu? All I want is firefox wi-fi What I have live USB of Ubuntu 11.10 notebook without hdd internet access 4GB usb stick The reason why I need full install is to install new programs (skype) and do upgrade (of flash player)

• Difference between LiveCD, LiveUSB, full-install, and persistence?

  I am currently running Ubuntu as a guest vm on a Win 7 host via VirtualBox, but I would like to have a portable version of Ubuntu when I am not using my laptop. I am unsure as to the difference between the following: 1)LiveCD with persistence; 2)LiveCD without persistence; 3)LiveUSB with persistence; 4)LiveUSB without persistence; 5)Full-install. I have a USB flash drive (32GB), and I also have empty DVDs lying around. I know that persistence means that data can be saved, but I am unsure as to which option to choose. What is the difference between a LiveUSB and a full-install on a USB thumbdrive and why would I want to pick one over the other? Thanks for any help.

• HTML Javascript Hidden Object or Photo Hunt Game

  Is anyone aware of any example photo hunt/hidden object games either in HTML and Javascript or flash if necessary? I am having trouble finding one, I may be using the wrong words to search. Photo hunt being like the wheres wally/waldo books where you look for wally in a complex image until you find him. So if it were played on screen you would press the location of wally and it would either be correct or wrong, possibly timed. I am hoping to find one where you can just load in your own photos and specify some co-ordinates that match where the hidden object is. A spot the difference example may be useful as a starting point but I haven't found an example of either that is web based yet.

• How can I embed an existing podcast into my website?

  I manage a podcast and a website, currently they are separate but I would like to have a way to embed the podcast into the website, I still want to create/update the podcast separate from the website I just want visitors to be able to listen to the podcast on the website without having to open iTunes while still having the ability to choose what episode to play. The best solution I have found is: http://tools.wizzard.tv/ but I do not like it that much. Currently I have to log on and click refresh for it to recognize new episodes. I want to be able to update the podcast, and just like how iTunes will be updated I want the page on the website to be updated as well. The 'podcast' page will most likely not be like a blog but have a Flash or Java script application that will pull the info from the podcast.xml file to show the episodes.

I have found a lot of documentation about installing raid when installing and setting up ubuntu server for the first time. However, I am struggling to find anything on installing a raid 5 array on a system already installed an configured. Can this be done, or does a clean install need to be done again?

• Can Ubuntu create a semi-transparent subtitle player for accessibility?

  I've asked this in Reddit.com/r/Ubuntu in here. I've tried to get the Subtitle Player linked here to work and it have failed on Wine. So I'm curious if Ubuntu community would be willing to try and build a simple transparent subtitle player for better accessibility on Flash Player, Netflix, or even in movie theaters? Currently, I'm watching movies/videos with an Android Tablet that runs on a blank black video for 3 hours with a subtitle overlay on it so I can enjoy movie and so forth, but it requires a bit of effort and it definitely isn't for everyone. (People will have to look at the subtitle playing tablet and the movie back and forth at 60 degrees angle, while a transparent subtitle player would reduce it to 5 degrees angle to watch the movie.) • How to achieve highly accurate car physics such as Liveforspeed?

  Liveforspeed is a racing simulator, there is amazing amount of realistic physics. for example, tires get warm, tire actually deforms when you turn corners. You need to play this game with a mouse at the minimum because it almost drives like the real thing. Anyhow, how does one achieve that level of physics simulation? Are there off-the-shelf solutions out there? If not, how does one start with simulating real world physics as close as possible. I would love to be able to work on an opensource car physics focused game. Imagine, more passionate developers, it could keep things going.
