• RMI on client side generating exception when getting a reference to the RMI server

  When I try to run an RMI client after running the RMI server I get the following exception: EncodeInterface exception: java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy30 cannot be cast to hw2.chat.backend.main.EncodeInterface java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy30 cannot be cast to hw2.chat.backend.main.EncodeInterface at hw2.chat.backend.main.EncodingRmiClient.initialiseRMIClient(EncodingRmiClient.java:26) And the relevant code in the RMI client is: EncodeInterface encodeInterface; Registry registry = LocateRegistry.getRegistry(host, portNumber); encodeInterface = (EncodeInterface)registry.lookup("RmiEncodingServer"); //line 26 And in the RMI server: try { EncodeInterface encodeInterface = new EncoderImpl(); Registry registry = LocateRegistry.getRegistry(); registry.rebind("RmiEncodingServer", encodeInterface); System.out.println("RmiEncodingServer is running..."); } EncodeInterface is the interface that extends Remote and that is present in the client side too. Host is "127.0.0.1" and portNumber is 1099 (I am assuming it should be the default value which is 1099 since I didn't specify it when I ran my RmiEncodingServer). If I don’t run the RMI server I get the same exception, any ideas as to why this is happening? thanks

  I have a WCF service that has exposed a soap and an xml endpoint. When I use svcutil to generate the proxy code on the client side the generated configuration contains two endpoints which causes the client to fail. If I edit the web.config file and remove the second endpoint (with the custom binding) all works as expected. Is there a way I can get svcutil to generate a config that just works so that I don't need to hand edit the file everytime?   hello, i want to learn rails and as a project to learn rails i came across webquests. what a webquest is is clearly written here1 and this is a example how a webquest look like. i started with script/generate nifty_scaffold introduction index and repeat this for every section like task , Process, Evaluation and so on. but i dont think thats the right way because i have a lot of code for the same thing. on the other side i am more flexible on designing views or controllers instead of having only one controller foer all pages. i am not asking here to get code. i am asking who to "build" such a backend where you can click on "New Webquest" a form comes up and you can enter all the text who belongs to the topic. maybee i can add some drawings later. i hope anyone can show me how to do that. or post me some links or some rtfms :D regards, buk

  I have a Maven project within which I need execute two code generation steps. One generates some Java types, then the second depends on those Java types to generate some more code. Is there a way to have both of these steps happening during my build? At the moment my steps are: execute first code generation plugin (during generate-sources) add directory of generated types to build path execute second code generation plugin (during compile) However my problem is that anything generated by the second code generation plugin will not be compiled (because the compile phase has finished). If I attach the second code generation plugin to an earlier phase, it fails because it needs the classes from the first code generation plugin to be present on the classpath. I know I could split this into two modules with one dependent on the other, but I was wondering if this could be achieved in one pom. It seems like a need a way to invoke compile again after the normal compile phase is complete. Any ideas?

  Hello, Today's world of dynamic invoke, reflection and runtime injection just doesn't play well with traditional tools such as ctags, doxygen and CDOC. I am searching for a method call hierarchy visualization tool that can display both static and dynamic method invocations. It should be easy to use, light during execution and provide helpful detailed information about the recorded runtime session. Now I guess Callgrind could be considered a valid solution for the family C. What tool / technique could you suggest to create a call graph for both static and dynamic method invocation for JVM based bytecode? The intended end result is a graphical display (preferably interactive) which can show path from main() to each method that was invoked. During research for this post I stumbled upon javashot, it seems that this is the kind of approach I'm aiming at, I would prefer that this would be integrated into a kind of profiler or alike which than can be used from within my IDE (Eclipse, IntelliJ, Netbeans and alike).   A while back I wrote a simple python program to brute-force the single solution for the drive ya nuts puzzle. The puzzle consists of 7 hexagons with the numbers 1-6 on them, and all pieces must be aligned so that each number is adjacent to the same number on the next piece. The puzzle has ~1.4G non-unique possibilities: you have 7! options to sort the pieces by order (for example, center=0, top=1, continuing in clockwise order...). After you sorted the pieces, you can rotate each piece in 6 ways (each piece is a hexagon), so you get 6**7 possible rotations for a given permutation of the 7 pieces. Totalling: 7!*(6**7)=~1.4G possibilities. The following python code generates these possible solutions: def rotations(p): for i in range(len(p)): yield p[i:] + p[:i] def permutations(l): if len(l)<=1: yield l else: for perm in permutations(l[1:]): for i in range(len(perm)+1): yield perm[:i] + l[0:1] + perm[i:] def constructs(l): for p in permutations(l): for c in product(*(rotations(x) for x in p)): yield c However, note that the puzzle has only ~0.2G unique possible solutions, as you must divide the total number of possibilities by 6 since each possible solution is equivalent to 5 other solutions (simply rotate the entire puzzle by 1/6 a turn). Is there a better way to generate only the unique possibilities for this puzzle?

I have the following line at the end of my SP, it works in PHPMYAdmin's query but it does not work when part of a stored procedure the code is as follows: SELECT * into outfile '../../htdocs/VIP/Temp/temp.txt' from tmp_Menu2; note that tmp_Menu2 is a table that only includes one field of type VARCHAR(1000) Any help would be greathly appreciated. • Java & Maven generating -and using- my own archetype

  Hello again! I have been busy in my project creating a webapp (in struts) that manages maven, using maven-2.2.1-uber.jar link text. The problem comes when the boss says it has to use some archetypes the company has created (so no predefined archetypes for you naughty boy!). So ok, I use the -DarchetypeRepository option (with ServletWrapper I get my complete web direction, becouse the repository will be inside the app), and the log seems to find it, but then the build fails -miserably- with this little text 'Build Failure - The defined artifact is not an archetype' as simple as that. Of course I have a lot of INFO lines that say abslutily nothig related. I have read the maven definitive guide searching for some kind of help, but it has been disapointing at best. My thoughts are thatmaybe I am missing in somewhere of all the folders tree some xml that actually sais maven that my pom.xml is an archetype not a project. But I really, really, can't find anything on the net or in the manuals that explains easy-handed how the archetype:generate (with special parameters) works and where I have to put every folder and/or file. So just to say my thoughts aloud (and hopefully you understand what I am trying to ask): I have a template where I do some xml changes (variables, etc...), then I have to call maen and do an archetype:generate with a variable project. The problem seems to be that my actual confuguration doesn't like what I am doing. After the generation of the archetype, witch luckly will create some directory trees and leave me a POM.xml somewhere I still have to do some variable changes and more xml manage stuff, so it whould be very kind from maven to don't destroy anything in this process. Any ideas why this maven-thing is not happly-ever-after asuming that my archetype is defintly an archetype? Allthought I think the code is ok, it could be wrong, as I am using maven-ubber and I call the actual CSMavenCli.main(String[, ClassWorld), I don't think it is the case this time. Route - routes.MapRoute( "Blog", // Route name "Blog/{d}/{m}/{y}", // URL with parameters, new { controller = "Blog", action = "Retrieve" } Generates - http://localhost:2875/Blog/12/1/2010 From - <%=Html.ActionLink("Blog Entry - 12/01/2010", "Retrieve", "Blog", new { d = 12, m = 01, y = 2010 }, null)%> If I add constraints like so. routes.MapRoute( "Blog", // Route name "Blog/{d}/{m}/{y}", // URL with parameters, new { controller = "Blog", action = "Retrieve" }, new { d = @"\d{2}", m = @"\d{2}", y = @"\d{4}" } It generates - http://localhost:2875/Blog/Retrieve?d=12&m=1&y=2010 Extra information: it is added before the custom route. When I run my webapp to generate a dynamic excel doc from my local machine it works fine but when the same piece of code is invoked on the server I get the below error. • Generic Dictionary and generating a hashcode for multi-part key

  I have an object that has a multi-part key and I am struggling to find a suitable way override GetHashCode. An example of what the class looks like is. public class wibble{ public int keypart1 {get; set;} public int keypart2 {get; set;} public int keypart3 {get; set;} public int keypart4 {get; set;} public int keypart5 {get; set;} public int keypart6 {get; set;} public int keypart7 {get; set;} public single value {get; set;} } Note in just about every instance of the class no more than 2 or 3 of the keyparts would have a value greater than 0. Any ideas on how best to generate a unique hashcode in this situation? I have also been playing around with creating a key that is not unique, but spreads the objects evenly between the dictionaries buckets and then storing objects with matched hashes in a List< or LinkedList< or SortedList<. Any thoughts on this?
