  • Working with Lightweight User Interface Toolkit (LWUIT) 1.4

    - by janice.heiss(at)oracle.com
    Vikram Goyal's informative and practical article, "Working with Lightweight User Interface Toolkit (LWUIT) 1.4," shows developers how to best take advantage of LWUIT 1.4. LWUIT is a user interface library designed to bring uniformity and cross mobile interface functionality to applications developed using Java Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME). Version 1.4 offers support for XHTML, multi-line text fields, and customization to the virtual keyboard.Goyal notes in the article that, "Perhaps the most important feature of this release is the ability for LWUIT to support XHTML. Specifically, it now supports XHTML MP (Mobile Platform) 1.0, a version of XHTML designed for mobile phones. To be even more specific, it now supports CSS styling for the HTMLComponent within the LWUIT library through Wireless Application Protocol CSS (WCSS)." Read the entire article here.

  • JPanel Appears Behind JMenuBar

To see the string, you must draw it at (0,10). I'm sure this must be something simple, so do you guys have any ideas?

  • Set size of JTable in JScrollPane and in JPanel with the size of the JFrame

    - by user1761818
    I want the table with the same width as the frame and also when I resize the frame the table need to be resized too. I think setSize() of JTable doesn't work correctly. Can you help me? import java.awt.Color; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.JScrollPane; import javax.swing.JTable; import javax.swing.SwingUtilities; public class Main extends JFrame { public Main() { setSize(400, 600); String[] columnNames = {"A", "B", "C"}; Object[][] data = { {"Moni", "adsad", 2}, {"Jhon", "ewrewr", 4}, {"Max", "zxczxc", 6} }; JTable table = new JTable(data, columnNames); JScrollPane tableSP = new JScrollPane(table); int A = this.getWidth(); int B = this.getHeight(); table.setSize(A, B); JPanel tablePanel = new JPanel(); tablePanel.add(tableSP); tablePanel.setBackground(Color.red); add(tablePanel); setTitle("Marks"); setLocationRelativeTo(null); setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE); } public static void main(String[] args) { SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { Main ex = new Main(); ex.setVisible(true); } }); } }

  • Best way to implement game loop without freezing UI thread

    - by Matt H
    I'm trying to make a simple 2D game in Java. So far I have a JFrame, with a menubar, and a class which extends JPanel and overrides it's paint method. Now, I need to get a game loop going, where I will update the position of images and so on. However, I'm stuck at how best to achieve this. Should I use multi-threading, because surely, if you put an infinite loop on the main thread, the UI (and thus my menu bar) will freeze up? Here's my code so far: import java.awt.Color; import java.awt.Graphics; import javax.swing.JPanel; @SuppressWarnings("serial") public class GameCanvas extends JPanel { public void paint(Graphics g) { while (true) { g.setColor(Color.DARK_GRAY); try { Thread.sleep(100); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } } import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JMenu; import javax.swing.JMenuBar; import javax.swing.JMenuItem; @SuppressWarnings("serial") public class Main extends JFrame { GameCanvas canvas = new GameCanvas(); final int FRAME_HEIGHT = 400; final int FRAME_WIDTH = 400; public static void main(String args[]) { new Main(); } public Main() { super("Game"); JMenuBar menuBar = new JMenuBar(); JMenu fileMenu = new JMenu("File"); JMenuItem startMenuItem = new JMenuItem("Pause"); menuBar.add(fileMenu); fileMenu.add(startMenuItem); super.add(canvas); super.setVisible(true); super.setSize(FRAME_WIDTH, FRAME_WIDTH); super.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); super.setJMenuBar(menuBar); } } Any pointers/tips? Also, where should I put my loop? In my main class, or my GameCanvas class? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • ToolTip flicker in Java if outside JFrame? [closed]

    - by Skarion
    Hi! I am implementing ToolTip in Java as to make users having an easier time to use the product. Though tooltip that are at the borders of the JFrame and ends up outside the JFrame starts to "flicker". I've tried lots of things (like moving the tooltip so it should be inside the Jframe, controlling the painting so it ends up within the JFrame and so on) though it doesn't work. Anyone got any expertise within the field that know how to avoid this problem? Cheers, Skarion

  • Does anybody develops Java desktop applications? [closed]

    - by Eirc man
    I was just wondering if there are there developers making java software for desktops. Is it even worth it, do any developers do that for living. I am making a chat application using sockets and and java GUI, just for fun, but then I wanted to see some examples of desktop apps, but did not find many. I have heard that Netbeans, is made using java, but the Netbeans in my Windows to me it seems like any other native Windows application

  • How to add support for resizing when using an undecorated JFrame?

    - by Jonas
    I would like to customize my titlebar, minimize-, maximize- and the close-button. So I used setUndecorated(true); on my JFrame, but I still want to be able to resize the window. What is the best way to implement that? I have a border on the RootPane, and I could use MouseListeners on the Border or the RootPane. Any recommendations? import java.awt.Color; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JMenu; import javax.swing.JMenuBar; import javax.swing.JMenuItem; import javax.swing.border.LineBorder; public class UndecoratedFrame extends JFrame { private LineBorder border = new LineBorder(Color.BLUE,2); private JMenuBar menuBar = new JMenuBar(); private JMenu menu = new JMenu("File"); private JMenuItem item = new JMenuItem("Nothing"); public UndecoratedFrame() { menu.add(item); menuBar.add(menu); this.setJMenuBar(menuBar); this.setUndecorated(true); this.getRootPane().setBorder(border); this.setSize(400,340); this.setVisible(true); } public static void main(String[] args) { new UndecoratedFrame(); } }

  • Basic Java drawing program: issue with squares

    - by Caminek
    I'm trying to create a simple drawing program that creates a square where the user clicks and drags. The square displays correctly as long as either x or y remain positive with respect to the original click position. If both x and y are negative with respect to the original click position, the square grows/shrinks, but also wanders about the screen. Is there a way to swap the origin point from top-left to bottom-right or to keep the square from wandering?

  • javax.naming.InvalidNameException using Oracle BPM and weblogic when accessing directory

    - by alfredozn
    We are getting this exception when we start our cluster (2 managed servers, 1 admin), we have deployed only the ears corresponding to the OBPM 10.3.1 SP1 in a weblogic 10.3. When the server cluster starts, one of the managed servers (the first to start) get overloaded and ran out of connections to the directory DB because of this repeatedly error. It looks like the engine is trying to get the info from the LDAP server but I don't know why it is building a wrong query. fuego.directory.DirectoryRuntimeException: Exception • Running code when all threads are finished processing.

    - by rich97
    Quick note: Java and Android noob here, I'm open to you telling me I'm stupid (as long as you tell me why.) I have an android application which requires me start multiple threads originating from various classes and only advance to the next activity once all threads have done their job. I also want to add a "failsafe" timeout in case one the the threads takes too long (HTTP request taking too long or something.) I searched Stack Overflow and found a post saying that I should create a class to keep a running total of open threads and then use a timer to poll for when all the threads are completed. I think I've created a working class to do this for me, it's untested as of yet but has no errors showing in eclipse. Is this a correct implementation? Are there any APIs that I should be made aware of (such as classes in the Java or Android APIs that could be used in place of the abstract classes at the bottom of the class?) package com.dmp.geofix.libs; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Iterator; import java.util.Timer; import java.util.TimerTask; public class ThreadMonitor { private Timer timer = null; private TimerTask timerTask = null; private OnSuccess onSuccess = null; private OnError onError = null; private static ArrayList<Thread> threads; private final int POLL_OPEN_THREADS = 100; private final int TIMEOUT = 10000; public ThreadMonitor() { timerTask = new PollThreadsTask(); } public ThreadMonitor(OnSuccess s) { timerTask = new PollThreadsTask(); onSuccess = s; } public ThreadMonitor(OnError e) { timerTask = new PollThreadsTask(); onError = e; } public ThreadMonitor(OnSuccess s, OnError e) { timerTask = new PollThreadsTask(); onSuccess = s; onError = e; } public void start() { Iterator<Thread> i = threads.iterator(); while (i.hasNext()) { i.next().start(); } timer = new Timer(); timer.schedule(timerTask, 0, POLL_OPEN_THREADS); } public void finish() { Iterator<Thread> i = threads.iterator(); while (i.hasNext()) { i.next().interrupt(); } threads.clear(); timer.cancel(); } public void addThread(Thread t) { threads.add(t); } public void removeThread(Thread t) { threads.remove(t); t.interrupt(); } class PollThreadsTask extends TimerTask { private int timeElapsed = 0; @Override public void run() { timeElapsed += POLL_OPEN_THREADS; if (timeElapsed <= TIMEOUT) { if (threads.isEmpty() == false) { if (onSuccess != null) { onSuccess.run(); } } } else { if (onError != null) { onError.run(); } finish(); } } } public abstract class OnSuccess { public abstract void run(); } public abstract class OnError { public abstract void run(); } }

  • Trouble parsing quotes with SAX parser (javax.xml.parsers.SAXParser) on Android API 1.5

    - by johnrock
    When using a SAX parser, parsing fails when there is a " in the node content. How can I resolve this? Do I need to convert all " characters? In other words, anytime I have a quote in a node: <node>characters in node containing "quotes"</node> That node gets butchered into multiple character arrays when the Handler is parsing it. Hi! I'm implementing stateless session bean ejb3 in glassfish server using netbeans. First time, it is working properly. • Is it safe to reuse javax.xml.ws.Service objects

    - by Noel Ang
    I have JAX-WS style web service client that was auto-generated with the NetBeans IDE. The generated proxy factory (extends javax.xml.ws.Service) delegates proxy creation to the various Service.getPort methods. The application that I am maintaining instantiates the factory and obtains a proxy each time it calls the targetted service. Creating the new proxy factory instances repeatedly has been shown to be expensive, given that the WSDL documentation supplied to the factory constructor, an HTTP URI, is re-retrieved for each instantiation. We had success in improving the performance by caching the WSDL. But this has ugly maintenance and packaging implications for us. I would like to explore the suitability of caching the proxy factory itself. Is it safe, e.g., can two different client classes, executing on the same JVM and targetting the same web service, safely use the same factory to obtain distinct proxy objects (or a shared, reentrant one)? I've been unable to find guidance from either the JAX-WS specification nor the javax.xml.ws API documentation. The factory-proxy multiplicity is unclear to me. Having Service.getPort rather than Service.createPort does not inspire confidence.

  • JQuery timer plugin on ASP.NET MVC Page button click

    - by Rita
    Hi I have an ASP.NET MVC Page with a button called "Start Live Meeting". When the User clicks on this button, it calls a controller method called "StartLiveMeeting" that returns a string. If the controller returns empty string, then i want the Timer to call the Controller method until it returns the string. I am using jquery.timer.js plugin ( http://plugins.jquery.com/files/jquery.timers-1.2.js.txt ) On the button click, the controller method is being called. But Timer is not initiating. I have specified 5sec to call the controller method. I appreciate your responses. Code on ASPX Page: //When "Start Meeting" button is clicked, if it doesn’t return empty string, Display that text and Stop Timer. Else call the Timer in every 5 sec and call the StartLiveMeeting Controller method. $("#btnStartMeeting").click(function() { var lM = loadLiveMeeting(); if (lM == "") { $("#btnStartMeeting").oneTime("5s", function() { }); } else { $("#btnStartMeeting").stopTime("hide"); } return false; }); function loadLiveMeeting() { $("#divConnectToLive").load('<%= Url.Action("StartLiveMeeting") %>', {}, function(responseText, status) { return responseText; }); } <asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="cphMain" runat="server"> <div id="divStartMeetingButton"><input id="btnStartMeeting" type="submit" value="Start Meeting" /> </div> <div id = "divConnectToLive"> <div id="loading" style="visibility:hidden"> <img src="../../img/MedInfo/ajax_Connecting.gif" alt="Loading..." /> </div> </div> Controller Method: [HttpPost] public string StartLiveMeeting() { int intCM_Id = ((CustomerMaster)Session["CurrentUser"]).CM_Id ; var activeMeetingReq = (from m in miEntity.MeetingRequest where m.CustomerMaster.CM_Id == intCM_Id && m.Active == true select m); if (activeMeetingReq.Count() > 0) { MeetingRequest meetingReq = activeMeetingReq.First(); return "<a href='" + meetingReq.URI + "'>" + "Connect to Live Meeting</a>"; } else { return ""; } }

  • Countdown timer using NSTimer in "0:00" format

    - by Joey Pennacchio
    I have been researching for days on how to do this and nobody has an answer. I am creating an app with 5 timers on the same view. I need to create a timer that counts down from "15:00" (minutes and seconds), and, another that counts down from "2:58" (minutes and seconds). The 15 minute timer should not repeat, but it should stop all other timers when it reaches "00:00." The "2:58" timer should repeat until the "15:00" or "Game Clock" reaches 0. Right now, I have scrapped almost all of my code and I'm working on the "2:58" repeating timer, or "rocketTimer." Does anyone know how to do this? Here is my code: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface FirstViewController : UIViewController { //Rocket Timer int totalSeconds; bool timerActive; NSTimer *rocketTimer; IBOutlet UILabel *rocketCount; int newTotalSeconds; int totalRocketSeconds; int minutes; int seconds; } - (IBAction)Start; @end and my .m #import "FirstViewController.h" @implementation FirstViewController - (NSString *)timeFormatted:(int)newTotalSeconds { int seconds = totalSeconds % 60; int minutes = (totalSeconds / 60) % 60; return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i:%02d"], minutes, seconds; } -(IBAction)Start { newTotalSeconds = 178; //for 2:58 newTotalSeconds = newTotalSeconds-1; rocketCount.text = [self timeFormatted:newTotalSeconds]; if(timerActive == NO){ timerActive = YES; newTotalSeconds = 178; [rocketTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:1.0 target:self selector:@selector(timerLoop) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; } else{ timerActive = NO; [rocketTimer invalidate]; rocketTimer = nil; } } -(void)timerLoop:(id)sender { totalSeconds = totalSeconds-1; rocketCount.text = [self timeFormatted:totalSeconds]; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; [rocketTimer release]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; // Release any cached data, images, etc that aren't in use. } - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; // Do any additional setup after loading the view from its nib. timerActive = NO; } - (void)viewDidUnload { [super viewDidUnload]; // Release any retained subviews of the main view. // e.g. self.myOutlet = nil; } - (BOOL)shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)interfaceOrientation { // Return YES for supported orientations return (interfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait); } @end

  • sorting a timer in matlab

    - by AP
    ok it seems like a simple problem, but i am having problem I have a timer for each data set which resets improperly and as a result my timing gets mixed. Any ideas to correct it? without losing any data. Example timer col ideally should be timer , mine reads 1 3 2 4 3 5 4 6 5 1 6 2 how do i change the colum 2 or make a new colum which reads like colum 1 without changing the order of ther rows which have data this is just a example as my file lengths are 86000 long , also i have missing timers which i do not want to miss , this imples no data for that period of time. thanks EDIT: I do not want to change the other columns. The coulm 1 is the gps counter and so it does not sync with the comp timer due to some other issues. I just want to change the row one such that it goes from high to low without effecting other rows. also take care of missing pts ( if i did not care for missing pts simple n=1: max would work.
