    Hi, I'm querying an SQL Server database using SQLAlchemy and need to cast a column to varbinary(max). The thing I am struggling with is the "max" part. I can get the cast to work for any actual number (say varbinary(20)), but I cannot find how to get it to work for the "max" size of the varbinary column. Any pointers? Links? Solutions?     Hi everybody. I'm using NHibernate with Lambda Extensions. I'd like to know how to nest a Max function with a Substring. The following statement retrieves Max("invoice_id") var ret = session .CreateCriteria<Invoice>() .SetProjection(Projections.Max("invoice_id")) .UniqueResult(); but in my case the field invoice_id is made in this way: 123452010 where 12345 is the invoice number, and 2010 is the current year. So I need to calculate the Max function only over the first 5 digits. How can I do it?

  • how to set html table max-width?

    Hello everyone, I have an html table, and one column (<td>) has long text, so I want to set the max-width of the column -- so that if text is longer than the max-width, the text could auto-wrap to next line. I have tried to use css max-width style on related TD element of the column, something like "max-width:100px", but it does not work (text still very long and not auto-wrap to next line if it is very long). Any ideas what is wrong or any solution reference code? I am using IE 8 on Windows 7. thanks in advance, George

    I am trying to select from SQL Server 2005 XML datatype some values based on the max data that is located in a child node. I have multiple rows with XML similar to the following stored in a field in SQL Server: <user> <name>Joe</name> <token> <id>ABC123</id> <endDate>2013-06-16 18:48:50.111</endDate> </token> <token> <id>XYX456</id> <endDate>2014-01-01 18:48:50.111</endDate> </token> </user> I want to perform a select from this XML column where it determines the max date within the token element and would return the datarows similar to the result below for each record: Joe XYZ456 2014-01-01 18:48:50.111 I have tried to find a max function for xpath that would all me to select the correct token element but I couldn't find one that would work. I also tried to use the SQL MAX function but I wasn't able to get it working with that method either. If I only have a single token it of course works fine but when I have more than one I get a NULL, most likely because the query doesn't know which date to pull. I was hoping there would be a way to specify a where clause [max(endDate)] on the token element but haven't found a way to do that. Here is an example of the one that works when I only have a single token: SELECT XMLCOL.query('user/name').value('.','NVARCHAR(20)') as name XMLCOL.query('user/token/id').value('.','NVARCHAR(20)') as id XMLCOL.query('user/token/endDate').value(,'xs:datetime(.)','DATETIME') as endDate FROM MYTABLE

    I've read the max heap size on 32bit Windows is ~1.5GB which is due to the fact that the JVM requires contiguous memory. Can someone explain the concept of "contiguous memory" and why you only have max 1.5GB on Windows? Secondly, what then is the max heap size on 64 bit Windows and why is this different than what's available on 32 bit?

  • Problem registering a COM server written for Excel registered on client machine (can't set full path

    In this previous question <How to get COM Server for Excel written in VB.NET installed and registered in Automation Servers list? there is an example of how to create the full path to a registry key using VS 2008. Everything in the previous answer works correctly except the full path that I am setting (using the registry editor in VS) for mscoree.dll is not working (meaning it seems to do nothing). The full registry path is: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{my_GUID}\InprocServer32(default) and the value I am setting is: [SystemFolder]mscoree.dll I can put anything (including hardcoding the full path) but the setting does not seem to matter and the registry always contains mscoree.dll without any path. I have tried adding another value to the registry path via VS and that works correctly including having the full path as specified by [SystemFolder]. The reason I need the full path (as explained in the previous question) is that without the path, Excel generates an error when the automation server is selected as it cannot find mscoree.dll (interestingly even though I receive an error the registration works OK). I am doing the install via a setup project which otherwise works fine. I am installing on a VISTA*64 system but have gotten the same error on other OS's. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

  • boost::filesystem - how to create a boost path from a windows path string on posix plattforms?

    I'm reading path names from a database which are stored as relative paths in Windows format, and try to create a boost::filesystem::path from them on a Unix system. What happens is that the constructor call interprets the whole string as the filename. I need the path to be converted to a correct Posix path as it will be used locally. I didn't find any conversion functions in the boost::filesystem reference, nor through google. Am I just blind, is there an obvious solution? If not, how would you do this?     Have you ever browsed over to another PC on your network using “network neighborhood”, and then connected to one of the file shares? Without a drive letter, how do you disconnect yourself once you’ve done so? Really confused as to what I’m talking about? Let’s walk through the process. First, imagine that you browse through and connect to a share, entering your username and password to gain access. The problem is that you stay connected, and there’s no visible way to disconnect yourself. If you try and shut down the other PC, you’ll receive a message that users are still connected. So let’s disconnect! Open up a command prompt, and then type in the following: net use This will give you a list of the connected drives, including the ones that aren’t actually mapped to a drive letter. To disconnect one of the connections, you can use the following command: net use /delete \\server\sharename For example, in this instance we’d disconnect like so: net use /delete \\192.168.1.205\root$ Now when you run the “net use” command again, you’ll see that you’ve been properly disconnected. If you wanted to actually connect to a share without mapping a drive letter, you can do the following: net use /user:Username \\server\sharename Password You could then just pop \\server\sharename into a Windows Explorer window and browse the files that way. Note that this technique should work exactly the same in any version of windows.     What is a "line" object in Inkscape? Drawing lines in Inkscape is by using the tool "Draw Bezier curves and straight lines (Shift+F6)". This creates objects of another type, "path". Using Inkscape: is there a way to convert an object of type "line" into an object of the more general type "path"? I have imported a drawing (mostly lines, rectangles and text) that has been through Adobe Illustrator: originally made in Inkscape, imported into Illustrator, edited, saved from Illustrator as SVG, imported into Inkscape. Sample from the imported SVG file: <path id="path5855" stroke="#000000" d=" M320.198,275.935" /> <line fill="none" stroke="#000000" x1="348.553" y1="45.097" x2="348.553" y2="185.346" id="line3368" /> Update 1: I have inspected the original XML (SVG) file from 2006 and it does not contain any "line" XML tags.   • Viewsonic VG2427wm detected max resolution too low

    So I have a Viewsonic VG2427wm, which supports max resolution of 1920x1080 and I had it working at this resolution from both windows and linux PCs. Now, I need to connect it to my Dell XPS17 (L702x), which has only DP mini and HDMI, so I'm trying to connect this monitor via HDMI-to-DVI adapter (doesn't work at all) and via DP-mini-to-DVI adapter. The later works, but is limiting my max resolution to 1680x1050. Using same two adapters to connect my dell monitor works fine, so I don't suspect any of the adapters to be faulty. The driver is the latest viewsonic driver (although it's been last updated 3 years back). Any ideas, how I can force it to display it's correct native resolution?

  • Finding the shortest path between two points on a grid, using Haskell.

    This is a problem that I can easily enough solve in a non-functional manner. But solving it in Haskell is giving me big problems. Me being inexperienced when it comes to functional programming is surely a reason. The problem: I have a 2D field divided into rectangles of equal size. A simple grid. Some rectangles are empty space (and can be passed through) while others are impassable. Given a starting rectangle A and a destination rectangle B, how would I calculate the shortest path between the two? Movement is possible only vertically and horizontally, in steps a single rectangle large. How would I go about accomplishing this in Haskell? Code snippets certainly welcome, but also certainly not neccessary. And links to further resources also very welcome! Thanks!

  • How do find the longest path in a cyclic Graph between two nodes?

    Hi, I already solved most the questions posted here, all but the longest path one. I've read the Wikipedia article about longest paths and it seems any easy problem if the graph was acyclic, which mine is not. How do I solve the problem then? Brute force, by checking all possible paths? How do I even begin to do that? I know it's going to take A LOT on a Graph with ~18000. But I just want to develop it anyway, cause it's required for the project and I'll just test it and show it to the instructor on a smaller scale graph where the execution time is just a second or two. At least I did all tasks required and I have a running proof of concept that it works but there's no better way on cyclic graphs. But I don't have clue where to start checking all these paths...
