    I am trying to create a news ticker for a website that reads in the contents of a folder, where each file in the folder would hold a news update, and I am trying to do this without having to manually create 10 different Iframes for each individual file, and having to keep files names etc. the same.   • What is causing this SQL 2005 Primary Key Deadlock between two real-time bulk upserts?

    Here's the scenario: I've got a table called MarketDataCurrent (MDC) that has live updating stock prices. I've got one process called 'LiveFeed' which reads prices streaming from the wire, queues up inserts, and uses a 'bulk upload to temp table then insert/update to MDC table.' (BulkUpsert) I've got another process which then reads this data, computes other data, and then saves the results back into the same table, using a similar BulkUpsert stored proc. Thirdly, there are a multitude of users running a C# Gui polling the MDC table and reading updates from it. Now, during the day when the data is changing rapidly, things run pretty smoothly, but then, after market hours, we've recently started seeing an increasing number of Deadlock exceptions coming out of the database, nowadays we see 10-20 a day. The imporant thing to note here is that these happen when the values are NOT changing. To me it looks like it's deadlocking on the PK of the table, so I tried removing that PK and switching to a Unique Constraint instead but that increased the number of deadlocks 10-fold. I'm totally lost as to what to do about this situation and am open to just about any suggestion. HELP!!

  • UIScrollView Infinite Scrolling

    I'm attempting to setup a scrollview with infinite (horizontal) scrolling. Scrolling forward is easy - I have implemented scrollViewDidScroll, and when the contentOffset gets near the end I make the scrollview contentsize bigger and add more data into the space (i'll have to deal with the crippling effect this will have later!) My problem is scrolling back - the plan is to see when I get near the beginning of the scroll view, then when I do make the contentsize bigger, move the existing content along, add the new data to the beginning and then - importantly adjust the contentOffset so the data under the view port stays the same. This works perfectly if I scroll slowly (or enable paging) but if I go fast (not even very fast!) it goes mad!     Silly question: I have a simple for loop followed by a simple if statement: for airport in airports: if airport.is_important: and I was wondering if I can write this as a single line somehow. So, yes, I can do this: for airport in (airport for airport in airports if airport.is_important): but it reads so silly and redundant ("for airport in airport for airport in airports..."). Is there a better way?

For example on one the temporary event ID cards, the Unique ID is 20309825 but the barcode when decoded reads 8336902052. What could be the relationship between these numbers, if any?   • C child read giving "resource temporarily unavailable"

    So I have a file stream from a parent process to a child - and most of the time it works fine. However, when reading from it multiple times quickly, using fgets() will return NULL and the error is set to "resource temporarily unavailable". The problem is intermittent - and running the script that does the reads will sometimes have fgets return NULL and sometimes wont. Could anyone help me stop this error from happening? Thanks!

    I recently got my first app to work in uWSGI with Cherokee.     Is there an easy way to setup an environment on one machine (or a VM) with MySQL replication? I would like to put together a proof of concept of MySQL replication with one Master write instance and two slave instances for reads. I can see doing it across 2 or 3 VMs running on my computer, but that would really bog down my system. I'd rather have everything running on the same VM.   • C# Reading the registry and Wow6432Node key

    Hi all, I have come code that reads the registry and looks for a value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\App\ but when running on 64bit versions of Windows the value is under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\App. How should I best approach this? Do I need a 64bit installer or should I rewrite my code to detect both places? Thanks

  • I can't get my Android program to run correctly on an AVM in Eclipse

I have followed all the tutorials on the developer site for installing Eclipse, the SDK and the ADT plugin. When trying to run a simple Hello World program, everything seems to compile correctly, but then the virtual machine comes up empty.
