    Hi, I was wondering if there's an easy way to install Eucalyptus on a single VT-enabled machine (all Front End, CC, NC..), without installing XEN along with it's specific kernel and dependencies: kernel-xen x86_64 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 update 20 M xen x86_64 3.0.3-105.el5_5.3 update 1.9 M xen-libs x86_64 3.0.3-105.el5_5.3 update 155 k Only KVM. Is it possible ? Do I have to go for sources instead of packages ?

So that every domain is mapped to the right directory? I would not like to edit my nginx configuration for every website I add. The root domain can always be mapped to the www subdomain.

  • Poor performance of single processor 32bit Windows XP xompared SMP in VBA+Excel

    Welcome! On many computers I experienced poor performance of 32 bit guests running on 64 bit Linux host (I used only the Debian family). At last I managed to collect benchmark data. I made the benchmark by running custom VBA macro, (which we use in our company) that generates 284 pages long Word document full of Excel Pie charts, tables and comments. The macro is run as a single task (excluding the standard services) on a set of identically configured Windows XP 32-bit systems. I measured the time (in sec.) needed to perform the test. The computer (i.e. my notebook Asus P53E) supports both VT-d extensions and native Windows XP. It has 2-core processor, each core is hyperthreaded, so in total we have 4 mostly independent execution units. I use the latest VirtualBox 4.2 and VMWare Workstation 9.0 for Linux, installed together on the same host (running Mint 13 Maya) but never run simultaneously. Although VBA is inherently single-threaded, the Excel calculations, which take much more than a half of total computation time, supposedly aren't. So one would expect some speed gain when running on 2+ cores ("+" for hyperthreading). What we see is a speed loss. And quite big one too. For the VirtualBox the VT-d extension isn't a big deal. Can anyone shed some light on why the singlethreaded Windows kernel is so much faster than the SMP one?

  • Restart a single apache vhost

    I've got an Apache (2) server with several virtual hosts. I currently have mysql db locks problems on one virtual host. A common and practical way to easy release those locks and unlock the site (while the dev team refactor its application to avoid the locks), is to simply restart the apache server. I'm wondering if there is a way to restart the single vhost that is in trouble. Thank you for any comments

  • Recover strategy single bad sector in moricon

    This week, my harddisk made me an early christmas present in the form of a single defect sector. To make up for the puny size of the present, it chose a sector inside moricons.dll for that. This means that now the system takes about 5 minutes to boot before Windows gives up and moves on, and there's 2 dozen scary "critical failure" entries in the system log after every boot, which is annoying. OK, admittedly, I shouldn't complain, it could be worse, the bad sector could be in ntldr... SMART info more or less indicates (for what SMART can indicate anyway) that the drive is mostly OK. Soft Read Error Rate has a score of 96, and Current Pending Sector Count has a raw value of 8, which translates to a score of 100. Acronis DriveMonitor makes this an issue (lowering the overall rating to 75%), HDD Health calls it "excellent", giving an overall rating of 95% (which is what this harddisk from day one). No single score is below 95 (power on hours and spin up count), and most are 100 anyway. Well, whatever, I've seen drives with perfect SMART values fail from one second to the other, and drives with moderate values work for years. So, I'm inclined not to put too much weight into that overall. TL;DR Now... to the problem: I don't feel like trashing the disk just yet (that's planned with a new OS install upgrading to Win7 early next year, independently of this issue), but in the mean time, I would still like to have a smoothly running system again. Therefore, I feel tempted to tamper with it, but before I render my system entirely unusable (since I've never done this before), I'd like to verify that my planned procedere is likely to suceed in having a working system again: Copy moricons.dl_ from the Windows install disk, rename it to moricons.zip, and unzip it. This gives an intact 5.1.2600.2180 version (the broken one is 5.1.2600.5512 - but I guess this makes not much of a difference, since it's an icon-only DLL, and an outdated copy should work better than one that can't be read) Run chkdsk /r /f` which will "repair" the file (i.e. delete the file without asking, tell the drive to remap the sector, and toss some unreadable junk into a file with a hexadecimal number) Hopefully Windows still boots after this (is that a reasonable expectation, or do I need to have something like BartPE ready? -- but then again, what's that good for in case chkdsk has nuked the entire file system...) Delete the junk file generated by chkdsk, copy the new DLL to %windir%\system32 Reboot. Pray. Maybe I just shouldn't touch anything, since it still kind of works... if annoying, but it works. Unsure... But, is there anything fundamentally wrong with the planned approach? Is this a sensible approach at all?

  • Single click to accept meeting invite in Outlook 2010

    In Outlook 2003 when I received a meeting invite I could click the Accept button once to accept it. In Outlook 2010 I have to click Accept, then click "Send the response now", which is completely useless - what else do I need to say other than "yes, I'll be there"? How do I restore the old behaviour so that a I can accept with a single click? (Declining is different, of course - I might want to edit the message then.)

  • Solaris: a simple script does not work, single command does

    In my Solaris Illumos, I run a simple script: update_drv -a -i '[myhardware]' [driver] svcadm disable stmf svccfg import /mypath/myconfig svcadm enable stmf It does not work and gives me no error. The service stmf goes in maintenance mode and I must reboot! I've discovered that if I run the single commands from console, it works but if I put it into a script, it works only the first line. Can you explain this behavior?

  • Media recommendation engine - Single user system - How to start

    Hi guys, I want to implement a media recommendation engine. I saw a similar posts on this, but I think my requirements are bit different from those, so posting here. Here is the deal. I want to implement a recommendation engine for media players like VLC, which would be an engine that has to care for only single user. Like, it would be embedded in a media player on a PC which is typically used by single user. And it will start learning the likes and dislikes of the user and gradually learns what a user likes. Here it will not be able to find similar users for using their data for recommendation as its a single user system. So how to go about this? Or you can consider it as a recommendation engine that has to be put in say iPods, which has to learn about a single user and recommend music/Movies from the collections it has. I thought of start collecting the genre of music/movies (maybe even artist name) that user watches and recommend movies from the most watched Genre, but it look very crude, isn't it?   • SQL Server Database In Single User Mode after Failover

    Here is a weird situation we experienced with a SQL Server 2008 Database Mirroring Failover. We have a pair of mirrored databases running in high-availability mode and both the principal and mirror showed as synchronized. As part of some maintenance I triggered a manual failover of the principal to the mirror. However after the failover the principal was now in single-user mode instead of the expected "Principal/Synchronized" state we usually get. The database had been in multi-user mode on the previous principal before this had happened. We ended up stopping all applications, restarting the SQL Server instances, and executing "ALTER DATABASE ... SET MULTI_USER" to bring the database back to the expected "Principal/Synchronized" state in a multi-user mode. Question. Does anyone know where SQL Server stores information about whether a database should be in single-user mode or not? I'm wondering if there is some system database or table that has this setting recorded somewhere. In particular we had an incident once with the database on the original principal (the one I was failing over to) where when trying to detach the database it was put into single-user mode. I'm wondering if that setting is cached somewhere and is the reason that SQL Server put it back into single-user mode after a failover.

  • How to get ISA 2006 Web Proxy to work with the Single Network Adapter template

    I need to test an issue with running our application behind a proxy server with different type of configurations, so I installed ISA 2006 Enterprise on a desktop computer. Since this computer only has a single network card and I want to start out easy, I chose the "Single Network Adapter" template. We have a internal NAT'ed network which is in the 10 range.     Can you validate just a single property with the Fluent Validation Library, and if so how? I thought this discussion thread from January of 2009 showed me how to do it via the following syntax: validator.Validate(new Person(), x => x.Surname); Unfortunately it doesn't appear this works in the current version of the library. One other thing that led me to believe that validating a single property might be possible is the following quote from Jeremy Skinners' blog post: "Finally, I added the ability to be able to execute some of FluentValidation’s Property Validators without needing to validate the entire object. This means it is now possible to stop the default “A value was required” message from being added to ModelState. " However I do not know if that necessarily means it supports just validating a single property or the fact that you can tell the validation library to stop validating after the first validation error.

    Sadly, a project that I have been working on lately has a large amount of copy-and-paste code, even within single files. Are there any tools or techniques that can detect duplication or near-duplication within a single file? I have Beyond Compare 3 and it works well for comparing separate files, but I am at a loss for comparing single files. Thanks in advance. Edit: Thanks for all the great tools! I'll definitely check them out. This project is an ASP.NET/C# project, but I work with a variety of languages including Java; I'm interested in what tools are best (for any language) to remove duplication.

  • OpenLayers, Layers: Tiled vs. single tile

    Each time we add a new layer to our OpenLayers based website (data provided primarily by a GeoServer server), we discuss whether to use a single-tile or a tiled approach. Some of the parameters we evaluate are the following: Using the tiled approach we get: Slow but continuous buildup of the viewport Lots of small images Client side caching possibilities Blocking of the loading pipeline (6 requests at a time) Jerky feeling when navigating during load Using the single-tile approach we get: Smoother feeling when navigating during load Time delay before layer is loaded One large image for each layer No caching of the single tile We have a lot of data editing in the layers, thus a tile-cache might not be that efficient. Are there any best-practices when it comes to tiling? Progressing towards infinitely fast hardware and unlimited data connections, the discussion becomes irrelevant, but what configuration do you percieve as the most user-pleasing?

    How can I store arrays in single array? e.g. I have four different arrays, I want to store it in single array int storeAllArray [] and when I call e.g. storeAllArray[1] , I will get this output [11,65,4,3,2,9,7]instead of single elements? int array1 [] = {1,2,3,4,5,100,200,400}; int array2 [] = {2,6,5,7,2,5,10}; int array3 [] = {11,65,4,3,2,9,7}; int array4 [] = {111,33,22,55,77}; int storeAllArray [] = {array1,array2,array3,array2} // I want store all array in on array for (int i=0; i<storeAllArray; i++){ System.out.println(storeAllArray.get[0]); // e.g. will produce --> 1,2,3,4,5,100,200,400 , how can I do this? }

  • How to generate two XML files from a single HL7 file and insert both into two different columns as a single record?

    I have Source Connector Type as 'File Reader' which is reading HL7 files and Destination Connector Type as 'Database Writer'. My database table has two columns Participant_Information SPR_Information I want to transform a single HL7 file into two XML files one for Participant_Information column and other for SPR_Information column and need to insert both as a single record into the database table. I'm able to insert one XML at a time but not able to find the way to insert both the XMLs as a single record into the database table. Any help is really greatly appreciated!

  • syntax for single row MERGE / upsert in SQL Server

    I'm trying to do a single row insert/update on a table but all the examples out there are for sets. Can anyone fix my syntax please: MERGE member_topic ON mt_member = 0 AND mt_topic = 110 WHEN MATCHED THEN UPDATE SET mt_notes = 'test' WHEN NOT MATCHED THEN INSERT (mt_member, mt_topic, mt_notes) VALUES (0, 110, 'test') Resolution per marc_s is to convert the single row to a subquery - which makes me think the MERGE command is not really intended for single row upserts. MERGE member_topic USING (SELECT 0 mt_member, 110 mt_topic) as source ON member_topic.mt_member = source.mt_member AND member_topic.mt_topic = source.mt_topic WHEN MATCHED THEN UPDATE SET mt_notes = 'test' WHEN NOT MATCHED THEN INSERT (mt_member, mt_topic, mt_notes) VALUES (0, 110, 'test');
