  • XSL Transformations in .NET 2.0

    Having realized the need for efficient built-in support for XSLT processing, Microsoft has included in the .NET Framework 2.0 a set of classes that are highly optimized, robust, and scalable. This article will explore the rich XSLT support provided by the .NET Framework 2.0 by providing examples on how to use the XSLT related classes to create rich ASP.NET Web applications.

  • XSLT ... I can'f find a (working) find minimum value in XML and set variable

    - by Bob
    I've search for hours and not found an example that allows for the very first position to be the lowest. I'm getting 'False' instead of the value returned .... EDIT: Oddly enough if I run a 2nd instance as MAX_Landed with ascending it returns a value just fine. If I switch the order in the XSLT the first instance will return 'False' and the 2nd will work. Hope I'm making sense ..... Example XML which I can't get formatted to show correctly and in a hurry so you get the gist I hope: <?xml version="1.0"?> <GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResponse xmlns="http://mws.amazonservices.com/schema/Products/2011-10-01"> <GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResult ASIN="0470067802" status="Success"> <AllOfferListingsConsidered>false</AllOfferListingsConsidered> <Product xmlns="http://mws.amazonservices.com/schema/Products/2011-10-01" xmlns:ns2="http://mws.amazonservices.com/schema/Products/2011-10-01/default.xsd"> <LowestOfferListings> <LowestOfferListing> <Qualifiers> <ItemCondition>Used</ItemCondition> <ItemSubcondition>Good</ItemSubcondition> </Qualifiers> <Price> <LandedPrice> <Amount>15.71</Amount> </LandedPrice> </Price> </LowestOfferListing> <LowestOfferListing> <Qualifiers> <ItemCondition>Used</ItemCondition> <ItemSubcondition>Good</ItemSubcondition> </Qualifiers> <Price> <LandedPrice> <Amount>16.71</Amount> </LandedPrice> </Price> </LowestOfferListing> <LowestOfferListing> <Qualifiers> <ItemCondition>Used</ItemCondition> <ItemSubcondition>Good</ItemSubcondition> </Qualifiers> <Price> <LandedPrice> <Amount>18.71</Amount> </LandedPrice> </Price> </LowestOfferListing> </LowestOfferListings> </Product> </GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResult> </GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResponse> Example XSLT : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0" xmlns:amz="http://mws.amazonservices.com/schema/Products/2011-10-01" exclude-result-prefixes="amz"> <xsl:output method="xml" version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:variable name="MIN_Landed"> <xsl:for-each select="//Amount"> <xsl:sort data-type="number" order="ascending"/> <xsl:if test="position()=1"><xsl:value-of select="."/></xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:variable> <FMPXMLRESULT xmlns="http://www.filemaker.com/fmpxmlresult"> <ERRORCODE>0</ERRORCODE> <PRODUCT BUILD="" NAME="" VERSION=""/> <DATABASE DATEFORMAT="M/d/yyyy" LAYOUT="" NAME="" RECORDS="1" TIMEFORMAT="h:mm:ss a"/> <METADATA> <FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="DATA" TYPE="TEXT"/> <FIELD EMPTYOK="YES" MAXREPEAT="1" NAME="Min_Landed" TYPE="TEXT"/> </METADATA> <RESULTSET> <xsl:attribute name="FOUND">1</xsl:attribute> <xsl:for-each select="amz:GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResponse/amz:GetLowestOfferListingsForASINResult/amz:Product/amz:LowestOfferListings/amz:LowestOfferListing"> <ROW> <xsl:attribute name="MODID">0</xsl:attribute> <xsl:attribute name="RECORDID">1</xsl:attribute> <COL> <DATA> <xsl:value-of select="amz:Qualifiers/amz:ItemCondition"/> </DATA> </COL> <COL> <DATA> <xsl:value-of select="$MIN_Landed"/> </DATA> </COL> </ROW> </xsl:for-each> </RESULTSET> </FMPXMLRESULT> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> HELP PLEASE!   • Using EXSLT dates-and-times module in XSLT 1.0 yields unknown error

    - by danielle
    I added the EXSLT dates-and-times module in my XSLT 1.0 file by declaring: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" ... xmlns:date="http://exslt.org/dates-and-times" extension-element-prefixes="date"> This doesn't affect my resulting page, but when I try to call the actual date with: <xsl:value-of select="date:date-time()"/> I receive an "Error loading stylesheet: An unknown error has occurred ()" message when loading my page. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I might be missing? Thanks in advance!

  • Easily (as in WYSIWYG) customize the docbook output

    - by Sukima
    I've used DocBook in the past and I love the idea behind the separation of content from presentation. I am very comfortable editing XML directly. In my extensive search to find the best documenting solution for my needs I am always coming back to this one solution: DocBook - Build system (ant, make, etc.) - Output I have seen lots of information concerning the best WYSIWYG, XML, Text editors for writing DocBook including alternative markup languages like asciidoc. All these solutions focus on the creation of DocBook or the nightmare of the DocBook tool chain. No one ever addresses the Output side other then to say "Just use XSL" or "Custom scripts" When tasked to make a document or manual I don't want to worry about spending countless hours attempting to reprogram, customize, and modify the XSL, CSS, and shell scripts (i.e. O'Riely books). That is a very arduous task. My query: is there a tool that makes the customizing easier? And is there anything that could be similar to say Pages or Word in that the user creates a template and the tool chain does the rest? Attempting to do a visual task like pretty logos and fixing all the broken layouts that the default XSL comes up with (pagination is a mess) is very difficult from a text editor. Content is easy. Editing DocBook XSL was truly a nightmare when I did it in the past. I've searched and I find lots of info on XML editors but nothing on XSL editors. Or am I lacking a key understanding of the process. Thanks.

  • Identifying elements from data feeds generated by affiliate sites

    - by SPI
    I am working with data feeds from affiliate sites. The basic idea is to provide an interface where the user can paste a link to an XML datafeed (these are huge btw, around 60 mb) that would then be streamed, parsed into small chunks, and mined for the required data which would then be stored in the database. The problem is that different affiliate sites have different Schemas for their XML's. It is a little hard mapping the elements in an XML to your database attributes when you don't actually know which element contains what. My Solution: Use XPath to traverse through the first set of parent and it's descendent's, fetch the elements as well as the data and and ask the user to map this data to the attributes in the database by selecting from a set of radio buttons that represent the attributes from the database. This will be done just once for each new Feed, once the system know's what's what it will automatically upload the data from the XML to the database. Does this sound viable? Is there a better solution? I realize this leaves an uncomfortable opening for human error.. Thanks.

  • Can I query DOM Document with xpath expression from multiple threads safely?

    - by Dan
    I plan to use dom4j DOM Document as a static cache in an application where multiples threads can query the document. Taking into the account that the document itself will never change, is it safe to query it from multiple threads? I wrote the following code to test it, but I am not sure that it actually does prove that operation is safe? package test.concurrent_dom; import org.dom4j.Document; import org.dom4j.DocumentException; import org.dom4j.DocumentHelper; import org.dom4j.Element; import org.dom4j.Node; /** * Hello world! * */ public class App extends Thread { private static final String xml = "<Session>" + "<child1 attribute1=\"attribute1value\" attribute2=\"attribute2value\">" + "ChildText1</child1>" + "<child2 attribute1=\"attribute1value\" attribute2=\"attribute2value\">" + "ChildText2</child2>" + "<child3 attribute1=\"attribute1value\" attribute2=\"attribute2value\">" + "ChildText3</child3>" + "</Session>"; private static Document document; private static Element root; public static void main( String[] args ) throws DocumentException { document = DocumentHelper.parseText(xml); root = document.getRootElement(); Thread t1 = new Thread(){ public void run(){ while(true){ try { sleep(3); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } Node n1 = root.selectSingleNode("/Session/child1"); if(!n1.getText().equals("ChildText1")){ System.out.println("WRONG!"); } } } }; Thread t2 = new Thread(){ public void run(){ while(true){ try { sleep(3); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } Node n1 = root.selectSingleNode("/Session/child2"); if(!n1.getText().equals("ChildText2")){ System.out.println("WRONG!"); } } } }; Thread t3 = new Thread(){ public void run(){ while(true){ try { sleep(3); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } Node n1 = root.selectSingleNode("/Session/child3"); if(!n1.getText().equals("ChildText3")){ System.out.println("WRONG!"); } } } }; t1.start(); t2.start(); t3.start(); System.out.println( "Hello World!" ); } }

  • How do I use QXmlQuery properly? (Qt XQuery/XPath)

    - by Steven Jackson
    I'm using the following code to load in an XML file (actually an NZB): QXmlQuery query; query.bindVariable("path", QVariant(path)); query.setQuery("doc($path)/nzb/file/segments/segment/string()"); if(!query.isValid()) throw QString("Invalid query."); QStringList segments; if(!query.evaluateTo(&segments)) throw QString("Unable to evaluate..."); QString string; foreach(string, segments) qDebug() << "String: " << string; With the following input, it works as expected: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" ?> <!DOCTYPE nzb PUBLIC "-//newzBin//DTD NZB 1.0//EN" "http://www.newzbin.com/DTD/nzb/nzb-1.0.dtd"> <nzb> <file> <groups> <group>alt.binaries.cd.image</group> </groups> <segments> <segment>[email protected]</segment> </segments> </file> </nzb> However, with the following input no results are returned. • Replace text in XSL using wildcards

    - by JosephThomas
    This is similar to an earlier problem I was having which you guys solved in less than a day. I am working with XML files that are generated by a digital video camera. The camera allows the user to save all of the camera's settngs to an SD card so that the settings can be recalled or loaded into another camera. The XSL stylesheet I am writing will allow users to view the camera's settings, as saved to the SD card in a web browser. While most of the values in the XML file -- as formatted by my stylesheet -- make sense to humans, some do not. What I would like to do is have the stylesheet display text that is based on the value in the XML file but more easily understood by humans. A typical value that can be written to the XML file is "_23_970" which represents the camera's frame rate. This would be better displayed as 23.970 (or 023.970). The first underscore is a sort of place holder to make a space for values over 099.999. The second underscore, obviously represents the decimal. My previous (similar) question involved replacing predictable text, and the solution was matching templates. In this case, however, the camera can be set at any one of 119,999 frame rates (I think I did that math correctly). The approach, I would guess, is to pass a value to the displayed webpage that keeps the numeric values (each digit), replaces the second underscore with a decimal, and replaces the first underscore with either an nbsp or a zero (whichever is easier). If the first character in the string is a "1" (the camera can run at frame rates up to 120.000) then the one should be passed on to the page displayed by the stylesheet. I have read other posts here regarding wildcards, but couldn't find one that answered this question. EDIT: Sorry for leaving out important info. I fared better on my first try at asking a question! I guess I got complacent. Anyhow . . . I should have shown you the code that displays the text in the XSL file as is: <tr> <xsl:for-each select="Settings/Groups/Recording"> <tr><td class="title_column">Frame Rate</td><td><xsl:value-of select="RecOutLinkSpeed"/></td></tr> </xsl:for-each> </tr> I should also have given you the URL for the sample file I have been working with: http://josephthomas.info/Alexa/Setup_120511_140322.xml

  • RSS feed generated by SharePoint has a stylesheet tag and how to remove that

    - by iHeartDucks
    The feed which SharePoint Generates is here (I copied it to pastie because I thought it would be clear there) However, the xml file comes with a style sheet tag. How do I remove that? Does SharePoint always generate that? Due to the presence of that tag, I am unable to apply another style sheet of my own using the XML WebPart. EDIT: I don't think the issue is related to the style sheet. If I copy the xml and paste it in the "Xml Editor" of the Web Part everything works just fine. If I provide the URL, that is when I do not see any data. This is my XSL file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" exclude-result-prefixes="x d ddwrt xsl msxsl" xmlns:x="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/dsp" xmlns:ddwrt="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WebParts/v2/DataView/runtime" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:msxsl="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:xslt"> <xsl:output method="html" version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" indent="yes"/> <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:value-of select="count(rss)" /> <xsl:value-of select="count(rss/channel)" /> <xsl:value-of select="count(rss/channel/item)" /> <xsl:for-each select="rss/channel/item"> <xsl:value-of select="title" /> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Pastie link

  • Flatten XML using XSLT but based on nesting level

    - by user2532750
    I'm new to XSLT and I'm trying to write some XSLT that will flatten any given XML such that a new line occurs whenever the nesting level changes. My input can be any XML document, with any number of nested levels so the structure isn't known to the XSLT. Due to the tools available to me, my solution has to use XSLT version 1.0. For example. <?xml version="1.0"?> <ROWSET> <ROW> <CUSTOMER_ID>0</CUSTOMER_ID> <NAME>Default Company</NAME> <BONUSES> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>21</BONUS_ID> <DESCRIPTION>Performance Bonus</DESCRIPTION> </BONUSES_ROW> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>26</BONUS_ID> <DESCRIPTION>Special Bonus</DESCRIPTION> </BONUSES_ROW> </BONUSES> </ROW> <ROW> <CUSTOMER_ID>1</CUSTOMER_ID> <NAME>Dealer 1</NAME> <BONUSES> <BONUSES_ROW> <BONUS_ID>27</BONUS_ID> <DESCRIPTION>June Bonus</DESCRIPTION> <BONUS_VALUES> <BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <VALUE>10</VALUE> <PERCENT>N</PERCENT> </BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <BONUS_VALUES_ROW> <VALUE>11</VALUE> <PERCENT>Y</PERCENT> </BONUS_VALUES_ROW> </BONUS_VALUES> </BONUSES_ROW> </BONUSES> </ROW> <ROWSET> needs to becomes.... 0, Default Company 21, Performance Bonus 26, Special Bonus 1, Dealer 1 27, June Bonus 10, N 11, Y The XSLT I've written so far is... <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:output method="text" encoding="iso-8859-1"/> <xsl:strip-space elements="*" /> <xsl:template match="/*/child::*"> <xsl:apply-templates select="*"/> </xsl:template> <xsl:template match="*"> <xsl:value-of select="text()" /> <xsl:if test="position()!= last()"><xsl:text>,</xsl:text></xsl:if> <xsl:if test="position()= last()"><xsl:text>&#xD;</xsl:text></xsl:if> <xsl:apply-templates select="./child::*"/> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> but my output just isn't correct, with gaps and unnecessary data. 0,Default Company, ,21,Performance Bonus 26,Special Bonus 1,Dealer 1, 27,June Bonus, ,10,N 11,Y It seems there needs to be a check as whether or not a node can contain text, but I'm stuck and could do with an XSLT expert's help.

  • How do I create Variables in XSLT that are not document fragments?

    - by chiborg
    Consider the following XSLT template <xsl:template match="/"> <xsl:variable name="var1"> <elem>1</elem> <elem>2</elem> <elem>3</elem> </xsl:variable> <xsl:text>var1 has </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="count($var1)"/> <xsl:text>elements. </xsl:text> <xsl:variable name="var2" select="$var1/elem[. != '2']"/> <xsl:text>var2 has </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="count($var2)"/> <xsl:text>elements. </xsl:text> </xsl:template> The output of this template is var1 has 1 elements var2 has 2 elements The first line outputs 1 (and not, as I first expected 3) because var1 is a document fragment that contains the <elem> elements as childen. Now for my questions: How can I create a variable that does not contain a document fragment? I could do it like I did with var2, only leaving out the predicate. But maybe there is a way without using a second variable. Or, as an alternative: How can I preserve the document fragment in a variable while filtering out some elements?

  • XSLT: replace an integer by a string

    I have a little problem. A node in my XML may contains and integer, and i have to replace this integer by a string. Each number match with a string. For example i have: Integer - String 1 - TODO 2 - IN PROGRESS 3 - DONE 4 - ERROR 5 - ABORTED Original XML: <root> <status>1</status> </root> Converted XML: <root> <status>TODO</status> </root> So i want replace 1 by "TODO", 2 by "IN PROGRESS" ... <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:template match="/root/status"> <root> <status> <xsl:variable name="text" select="." /> <xsl:choose> <xsl:when test="contains($text, '1')"> <xsl:value-of select="'TODO'"/> </xsl:when> <xsl:otherwise> <xsl:value-of select="$text"/> </xsl:otherwise> </xsl:choose> </status></root> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> I'am asking if there is another way to do that.

  • Soapui & Xpath : Problem with assertion for a simple node

    - by mada
    Hi, i'm currently using SoapUI Free edition 3.2-beta 2. And i have a weird problem with a Xpath assertion: I have this in response: (...) And i'm using this xpath to assert that the "niveau" with id='2' is in the response: Xpath expression; //*:niveau[@id='2'] & the expected result is : but i have this error message: XPathContains comparison failed, expecting [ ], actual was [null] but if i try this : exitsts(//*:niveau[@id='2']) & the expected result is : True it works !!? But this syntax is quite difficult to read & lmaintain & i would like to use the 1st syntax (i ve tried to ignore namespace, add them.. stil doesnt work). Any idea ? Regards

  • PHP SimpleXML - Remove xpath node

    - by Peter John
    Hi, I'm a little confused as to how i can delete a parent node of something which i can find via an xpath search: $xml = simplexml_load_file($filename); $data = $xml->xpath('//items/info[item_id="' . $item_id . '"]'); $parent = $data[0]->xpath("parent::*"); unset($parent); So, it finds the item id, no problems there - but the unset isnt getting rid of this <items> node. All i want to do is remove the <items>...</items> for this product. Obviously, there are loads of <items> nodes in the xml file so it cant do unset($xml->data->items) as that would delete everything. Any ideas much appreciated :-)

  • Iterate over framesets with XPath expression in JavaScript?

    - by Derek Mahar
    Why does the following JavaScript, when run in Firefox 3.6.3, delete all FRAMESET elements in a document, but the similar script that instead uses an XPath expression to select the FRAMESET elements, does not? Is document.evaluate() simply unable to match FRAMESET elements? Is there an error in the XPath expression? Is there some other error? Select all FRAMESET elements using method document.getElementsByTagName() (succeeds): var framesets = document.getElementsByTagName('frameset'); for (var i = 0; i < framesets.length; i++) { framesets[i].parentNode.removeChild(framesets[i]); } Select all FRAMESET elements using an XPath expression (fails): var framesets = document.evaluate("//frameset", document, null, XPathResult.ORDERED_NODE_SNAPSHOT_TYPE, null); for (var i = 0; i < framesets.length; i++) { framesets[i].parentNode.removeChild(framesets[i]); }

  • Retrieve specific preceding sibling nodes attributes

    - by Matthieu BROUILLARD
    Is there an XPath way of recovering directly one specific attribute of preceding sibling nodes of an XML node using an XPath query? In the following example, I would like to retrieve the values of the alt attribute of each img nodes that precede the div element marked with the id=marker. <content> <img alt="1" src="file.gif" /> <img alt="2" src="file.gif" /> <img alt="3" src="file.gif" /> <img alt="4" src="file.gif" /> <div id='marker'></div> </content> For this example, I want to retrieve the values 1 2 3 4. I use the following XPath query //div[@id='marker']/preceding-sibling::img in order to retrieve the node list I want <img alt="1" src="file.gif"/> <img alt="2" src="file.gif"/> <img alt="3" src="file.gif"/> <img alt="4" src="file.gif"/> As it is a node list I can then iterate on the nodes to retrieve the attribute value I am looking for, but is there an XPath way of doing it? I would have expected to be able to write something like: //div[@id='marker']/preceding-sibling::img@alt or //div[@id='marker']/preceding-sibling@alt::img but I don't even know if it is possible once you have used an XPath Axe like preceding-sibling.

  • XSL: Dead or not dead

    - by Seattle Leonard
    I'm currently taking on a new project at home. In this project I'm going to be generating HTML emails. For this purpose, I believe XSL to be a good candidate. However, I have heard people say that XSL is a dead language, and if it's not that it is on it's way out. In fact, MS has been very leary to support XSL 2.0. Personally I feel that any time you are going from text to text, it is a great tool. Such as: Generating HTML e-mails Creating Open Office Docs Generating another XML doc What are your thoughts? Is it dead, or is it still a viable, usefull tool?

My Code: $(document).ready(function() { // bind 'myForm' and provide a simple callback function $('#theForm').ajaxForm(function(responseXML2) { var myxml = responseXML2; alert(responseXML2); displayResult(); }); }); function loadXMLDoc(dname) { if (window.XMLHttpRequest) { alert("loading xmlhttprequest"); xhttp=new XMLHttpRequest(); } else { alert("loading activeX"); xhttp=new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } alert("bottom load"); xhttp.open("GET",dname,false); xhttp.send(); return xhttp.responseXML; } function displayResult() { alert("setting vars"); alert("displayResult called"); //xml=loadXMLDoc(responseXML2); //tried this and the line below, among others xml=responseXML2; alert("xmlDocLoaded"); xsl=loadXMLDoc("xslt-test.xsl"); alert("XSLloaded"); // code for IE if (window.ActiveXObject) { alert("IE"); ex=xml.transformNode(xsl); document.getElementById("ieiresponse").innerHTML=ex; } // code for Mozilla, Firefox, Opera, etc. else if (document.implementation && document.implementation.createDocument) { alert("notIE"); xsltProcessor=new XSLTProcessor(); xsltProcessor.importStylesheet(xsl); resultDocument = xsltProcessor.transformToFragment(xml,document); document.getElementById("ieiresponse").appendChild(resultDocument); } } In the code above I want to have: //xml=loadXMLDoc(responseXML2); //tried this and the line below, among others xml=responseXML2; instead of a named file: xsl=loadXMLDoc("example.xml"); When I run through the code, it works if I name the file, but when I use the variable, (which does show up in alerts, so is being pulled), it stops the code at the above line (placing the variable as the xml file) Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you in advance.

  • Mapping Repeating Sequence Groups in BizTalk

    - by Paul Petrov
    Repeating sequence groups can often be seen in real life XML documents. It happens when certain sequence of elements repeats in the instance document. Here’s fairly abstract example of schema definition that contains sequence group: <xs:schemaxmlns:b="http://schemas.microsoft.com/BizTalk/2003"            xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"            xmlns="NS-Schema1"            targetNamespace="NS-Schema1" >  <xs:elementname="RepeatingSequenceGroups">     <xs:complexType>       <xs:sequencemaxOccurs="1"minOccurs="0">         <xs:sequencemaxOccurs="unbounded">           <xs:elementname="A"type="xs:string" />           <xs:elementname="B"type="xs:string" />           <xs:elementname="C"type="xs:string"minOccurs="0" />         </xs:sequence>       </xs:sequence>     </xs:complexType>  </xs:element> </xs:schema> And here’s corresponding XML instance document: <ns0:RepeatingSequenceGroupsxmlns:ns0="NS-Schema1">  <A>A1</A>  <B>B1</B>  <C>C1</C>  <A>A2</A>  <B>B2</B>  <A>A3</A>  <B>B3</B>  <C>C3</C> </ns0:RepeatingSequenceGroups> As you can see elements A, B, and C are children of anonymous xs:sequence element which in turn can be repeated N times. Let’s say we need do simple mapping to the schema with similar structure but with different element names: <ns0:Destinationxmlns:ns0="NS-Schema2">  <Alpha>A1</Alpha>  <Beta>B1</Beta>  <Gamma>C1</Gamma>  <Alpha>A2</Alpha>  <Beta>B2</Beta>  <Gamma>C2</Gamma> </ns0:Destination> The basic map for such typical task would look pretty straightforward: If we test this map without any modification it will produce following result: <ns0:Destinationxmlns:ns0="NS-Schema2">  <Alpha>A1</Alpha>  <Alpha>A2</Alpha>  <Alpha>A3</Alpha>  <Beta>B1</Beta>  <Beta>B2</Beta>  <Beta>B3</Beta>  <Gamma>C1</Gamma>  <Gamma>C3</Gamma> </ns0:Destination> The original order of the elements inside sequence is lost and that’s not what we want. Default behavior of the BizTalk 2009 and 2010 Map Editor is to generate compatible map with older versions that did not have ability to preserve sequence order. To enable this feature simply open map file (*.btm) in text/xml editor and find attribute PreserveSequenceOrder of the root <mapsource> element. Set its value to Yes and re-test the map: <ns0:Destinationxmlns:ns0="NS-Schema2">  <Alpha>A1</Alpha>  <Beta>B1</Beta>  <Gamma>C1</Gamma>  <Alpha>A2</Alpha>  <Beta>B2</Beta>  <Alpha>A3</Alpha>  <Beta>B3</Beta>  <Gamma>C3</Gamma> </ns0:Destination> The result is as expected – all corresponding elements are in the same order as in the source document. Under the hood it is achieved by using one common xsl:for-each statement that pulls all elements in original order (rather than using individual for-each statement per element name in default mode) and xsl:if statements to test current element in the loop:  <xsl:templatematch="/s0:RepeatingSequenceGroups">     <ns0:Destination>       <xsl:for-eachselect="A|B|C">         <xsl:iftest="local-name()='A'">           <Alpha>             <xsl:value-ofselect="./text()" />           </Alpha>         </xsl:if>         <xsl:iftest="local-name()='B'">           <Beta>             <xsl:value-ofselect="./text()" />           </Beta>         </xsl:if>         <xsl:iftest="local-name()='C'">           <Gamma>             <xsl:value-ofselect="./text()" />           </Gamma>         </xsl:if>       </xsl:for-each>     </ns0:Destination>  </xsl:template> BizTalk Map editor became smarter so learn and use this lesser known feature of XSLT 2.0 in your maps and XSL stylesheets.
