  • How to disable Spotlight content indexing in Mac OS

    From Windows experience, I could always elect Live search to only index file names not their content. Is this something that can be done with Spotlight on a Mac? It used to index absolutely everything, for instance it would return a bunch of video files for any obscure character combination typed into the search field. Right now I've disabled Spotlight entirely as per this answer, but it seems to have disabled searching altogether. For instance, Finder is yet to locate any .pdf files in a small directory as I'm typing this question (unlike windows search which would still be able to work even with indexing disabled) Alternatively, if there is any way (including a trusted third-party app) that will index file names and metadata e.g. ID3 tags that would likely be the preferred option.

  • ListView - Index and Position Behavior upon restart()

    I am using a ListView with an ArrayAdapter that holds objects. When I select an item, I am capturing the position and index of the selected item. If I scroll down prior to selection, the position and index represent the location of the item in the list. Selecting that items takes me to another activity. When I use the back button to return to the list, it seems that the ListView get's a new position and index for the visible items. As a result, I can't figure out how to reference the selected item during the restart() of the ListView Activity. I have tried to caputure position and index, but as I've said, they change upon returning to the Activity. Is my understanding of the ListView "redraw" correct? Does it renumber my items based on what's visible? -When in the life cycle is getView() called? Is there a way to force an update to the ListView so that my caputured index still points to the same object? Thanks, Jason

  • Rad upload Java applet and z-index

    I'm using Rad upload for drag and drop upload. It's working perfectly except I'm having a problem with the z-index. I'm also using jquery UI on the site and the overlay doesn't cover the applet. Any ideas on how to control the z-index. It would be nice if there where a setting like in flash where you control wmode. But I've tried z-index on the div that controls it and no result.

  • PHP Notice: Undefined index when looping array...

    Hi, I'm looping a two-dimensional array like this: if (!empty($aka)) { foreach ($aka as $ak) { if($ak["lang"]=="es") { $sptitle=$ak["title"]; } } } Pretty simple. If the array ($aka) is not empty I loop trough it and when it finds that the "lang" index is equal to "es" I just save the "title" value for that index in $sptitle. The problem is that the array ($aka) contains a lot of information and sometimes there is no "lang" index... and I get this error: Notice: Undefined index: lang. How can I fix this??? This is a extract of the array to help you understand.     I have two tables: comments(id(primary key), author, ip(index)) and visitors(id(primary key), date_time, ip(index)) I want to join them like that: SELECT visitors.date_time FROM comments LEFT JOIN visitors ON ( comments.ip = visitors.ip ) WHERE comments.author = 'author' LIMIT 10 It works, but very slow.. In EXPLAIN it shows that it doesn't use the index on the visitors table: id select_type table type possible_keys key key_len ref rows Extra 1 SIMPLE comments ref author author 78 const 9660 Using where 1 SIMPLE visitors ALL NULL NULL NULL NULL 8033 Any ideas?     I am a web developer and I've requested our Sys-Admin to setup a server for my team that will be used as a development environment. The PHP is running as a CGI. When i try to open http://myaddress/ I receive 403 Forbidden. When I try to open http://myaddress/index.php everything is fine. How do I set the server to look for index.php file by default? P.S The sysadmin is not currently here, so he cannot do it for me.

  • Send 404 when requesting index.php through .htaccess?

    I've recently refactored an existing CodeIgniter application to use url segments instead of query strings, and I'm using a rewriterule in htaccess to rewrite stuff to index.php: RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] My problem right now is that a lot of this website's pages are indexed by google with a link to index.php. Since I made the change to use url segments instead, I don't care about these google results anymore and I want to send a 404 (no need to use 301 Move permanently, there have been enough changes, it'll just have to recrawl everything). To get to the point: How do I redirect requests to /index.php?whatever to a 404 page? I was thinking of rewriting to a non-existent file that would cause apache to send a 404. Would this be an acceptable solution? How would the rewriterule for that look like? edit: Currently, existing google results will just cause the following error: An Error Was Encountered The URI you submitted has disallowed characters.

    My specific concern is related to the performance of a clustered index on a reference table that has many rapid inserts and deletes. Table 1 "Collection" collection_pk int (among other fields) Table 2 "Item" item_pk int (among other fields) Reference Table "Collection_Items" collection_pk int, item_pk int (combined primary key) Because the primary key is composed of both pks, a clustered index is created and the data physically ordered in the table according to the combined keys. I have many users creating and deleting collections and adding and removing items to those collections very frequently affecting the "Collection_Items" table, and its clustered index. QUESTION PART: Since the "Collection_Items" table is so dynamic, wouldn't there be a big performance hit on constantly resorting the table rows because of the clustered index ? If yes, what should I do to minimize this ?

  • Using TweenMax to fade in div with background pattern and z-index not working

    I'm trying to do this really simple fade using TweenMax for this div I have. Here's the css for the div .aboutBg { background:url(../images/pattern.jpg); top:0; right:0; left:0; bottom:0, position:fixed; border:10px solid red; z-index:10; } TweenMax.to('.aboutPage', 0.5, {autoAlpha:1}); What's happening is the border would fade in nicely but the patterned bg is not, it just pops up at the end of the tween. If I remove the z-index everything works, but I have to have set the z-index so it's on top of my other content. Also I'm not tweening the z-index, it's set before the tween, so I'm not sure why it's not fading correctly. Anyone has any idea? Thanks.

However, I cannot figure out how exactly this class frees up memory when lots of elements are removed from the list.     Running the following query (SQL Server 2000) the execution plan shows that it used an index seek and Profiler shows it's doing 71 reads with a duration of 0. select top 1 id from table where name = '0010000546163' order by id desc Contrast that with the following with uses an index scan with 8500 reads and a duration of about a second. declare @p varchar(20) select @p = '0010000546163' select top 1 id from table where name = @p order by id desc Why is the execution plan different? Is there a way to change the second method to seek? thanks EDIT Table looks like CREATE TABLE [table] ( [Id] [int] IDENTITY (1, 1) NOT NULL , [Name] [varchar] (13) COLLATE Latin1_General_CI_AS NOT NULL) Id is primary clustered key There is a non-unique index on Name and a unique composite index on id/name There are other columns - left them out for brevity

    I recently put up a site and I have been doing some SEO. However I noticed that links from Google search append index.php to my links. For example a site page which clearly appears as www.example.com/index/why on search together with correct content sample when clicked on ends up in the new browser as www.example.com/index.php/why Note that on my site all links are redirected to SSL and I use the MVC stucture. Any directives that am may be missing?

  • Database is very slow when creating an index

    My database has around 25 core numbers, in that weekly basis I need to create an index and drop index. While creating the index it takes long time to complete, my log file also keeps on increasing, and when I delete some numbers from that table also taking too much time (because weekly basis I have to delete 30 to 50 lack numbers and add 30 to 40 lack new number also). Can u please give me the proper solution..

    I have a List(of String()). I have written a custom comparer (implements IComparer(of string)) to do an alphanumeric sort. Is there a way to sort the List using a given index to determine which position in the String() to sort by? In other words one time I might sort by Index = 0 and another time by Index = 3. The length of all String() in the list is the same. For reference this question is similar to Sort List<String[]> except I am using VB.net and that question is hardwired to Index=0.
