    In C#, is it possible to decorate a method with an annotation to populate the cache object with the return value of the method?   • How to check if a variable is defined in a Master file in ASP.NET MVC

    I've got a Site.Master file I've created to be my template for the majority of the site, with a navigation. This navigation is dynamically created, based on a recursive Entity (called Page) - Pages with a parentID of 0 are top level, and naturally each child carries it's parent's Id in that field. I've created a quick little HTML Helper that accepts the ID of an Page and generates the nav by doing a foreach on the children that have a parentId matching the passed Id. On the majority of the site, I want the Site.Master to use a parentId of 0, but if I'm on a strongly typed View displaying a Page, I naturally want to use the Id of the page. Is there a way to do such conditional logic in a Site.Master (and, does that violate MVC rules)? "If I'm on a strongly typed Page of /Page/{Id}, use the Id render nav, else use 0"

  • ASP.NET Membership C# - How to compare existing password/hash

    I have been on this problem for a while. I need to compare a paasword that the user enters to a password that is in the membership DB. The password is hashed and has a salt. Because of the lack of documentation I do not know if the salt is append to the password and then hashed how how it is created. I am unable to get this to match. The hash returned from the function never matches the hash in the DB and I know for fact it is the same password. Microsoft seems to hash the password in a different way then I am. I hope someone has some insights please.     I realize something like this has been asked, but this may be a little different Below is my Event object: Event : IEvent public int Id public string Title public List<EventContact> Contacts And EventContact: EventContact public int Id public string Name So, an Event has a list of EventContact' objects. Now, Event also implements IEvent - hence the custom model binder. I useIEventinstead of Event, so when the default model binder tries to do its thing, it lets me know it can't create anIEvent'. I have my view with populated with the contact info: <input type="text" name="contact[0].Name" value="DB Value"/> <input type="text" name="contact[1].Name" value="DB Value"/> <input type="text" name="contact[2].Name" value="DB Value"/> <!-- Event fields, etc --> So, in my custom model binder I am able to see all the value - sweet! The only thing is, I'm really not sure how to get all the contact fields and create a list of contacts from them, along with binding all the Event fields. Any and all help is appreciated!

The task is looking for "AL.exe" in the "bin" subdirectory beneath the location specified in the InstallationFolder value of the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.0A. You may be able to solve the problem by doing one of the following: 1) Install the Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5. 2) Install Visual Studio 2008. 3) Manually set the above registry key to the correct location. 4) Pass the correct location into the "ToolPath" parameter of the task.

    In my controller I have this: ViewData["maskList"] = new SelectList(equipmentRepository.GetMasks(), "Id", "DisplayName"); and then I bind it to my view using <div each="var nfa in mfa.NasalFittingAssessment"> ${Html.DropDownList("NasalMaskTypeId", ViewData["maskList"] as IEnumerable<System.Web.Mvc.SelectListItem>, new { class = "ddl" })} </div> Note that I'm using the spark view engine so this DropDownList is getting rendered to the page via a loop. This means that the selected value of the dropdown list will change on each iteration of the loop. What I can't work out is how to pass in the value I want to set the DropDownList to based on the value that is currently being rendered to the screen.

From reading several resources I learned that you should create your own IPrinciple which holds this. But I don't want to trigger the database every authentication request. Is there any performance advantage to doing so (given that the number of columns and rows may be quite large in practice)?

So it seems that JavaScript can successfully understand my regular expression. But when I do a postback, and the modelstate.Isvalid() gets called. My date isn't valid anymore. So I'm guessing that when .NET performs the matching with the regEx it doesn't match. My question: Why does this regular expression match on the client side but not on the server side?

    We are creating a modular Web Site Project and all the UI is based on simple html pages with javascript widgets. These widgets obtain the data from a WCF class located in the app_code folder. Each widget has 3 files [ js, css , cs] and an image directory: , and we want all these files to be located under the same directory, say: /widgets/mywidget/ The problem is that the .cs file needs to be in the app_code folder to be compiled dynamically and that would break our widget modularity forcing the installator to distribute the widget code in two places. One of the options is use compiled assemblies instead of .cs files and use Assembly.Load() or smthg similar to load them when needed. What other options do you see?

    Using aspnet mvc2 with the model auto-generated by entity framework: Is it possible to tell entity framework to auto-annotate all fields? eg: If database field says not null then add [Required] If DB field is a nvarchar(x) then add [StringLength(x)] And so on? What if the field name contains the string "email" eg CustomerEmail - can I get EF to auto-annotate that with an appropriate annotation ([Regex()] maybe) As I understand it, if the model fields are annotated, and I use both Html.ValidationMessageFor() and use if (ModelState.IsValid) in my controller, then that is all I need to do to have basic clientside input validation working?     I have a master page with that code: public string CallbackMethod; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { CallbackMethod = Page.ClientScript.GetCallbackEventReference(this, "message", "Dodanie", "context", true); } /other code here/ then, in the View (which is based on that master page) I need to invoke the CallbackMethod string, but the problem is, the framework firstly renders the View, and then invokes the Page_Load method. As the obvious result, the error appears: the name 'CallbackMethod' does not exist in the current context. How do I fix this?

    I've found what seems like a bizarre problem with IIS 6.0 and .NET 3.5. I always use the tilde for all URLs (eg: ~/mypage.aspx) so if I go to mydomain.com/mypage.aspx, everything works fine. If, however, I add a trailing slash and go to mydomain.com/mypage.aspx/, all links on the page which use the tilde get rendered as mydomain.com/mypage.aspx/otherpage.aspx instead of mydomain.com/otherpage.aspx. This happens with all controls. Has anyone had this issue before?
